I love this gym. It gets a bit crowded...this is NYC. Also, it's a bit "choppy" in the layout, and that takes some time to figure out - there are many different areas to navigate. However, the staff are always friendly, the entire place is always quite clean, the locker rooms have a sauna (men's and women's separately). The trainers are awesome also. It has a lot to offer, prices are reasonable/competitive and their hours are accommodating. I've been to a couple of classes and they were good also. This is a great value gym if you are looking for all the basics - machines, some class offerings, and weights; trainers and functional fitness also.

The curly hair girl at the front desk, very rude. You should not have people like this working the front, where potential members are walking in. She had an attitude the entire time and even snickered with a coworker. Another walked off mid transaction. Not sure why nothing is being done about the rudeness in the front. Literally wanted to walk out and not get a membership. Seems gyms no longer pride themselves on good customer service and as a signature club, this is very questionable…you should want better for your paying members..diabolical…

I’m visiting from across the country and Ryan at the front desk welcomed me in with open arms to this multi-leveled gym. I love how clean and expansive the gym is. Everything I needed was there and I got a great workout. Everyone was friendly and focused on their excersizes. I definitely plan to come back during my stay here in Brooklyn!

Perfectly fine gym with pretty much everything you could need. Plenty of cardio machines, so if your preferred one is taken there are always back ups available. I find the front desk people to be kind and fun to chat with before or after a session. The spin classes are great and there are plenty of little nooks throughout for stretching or a solo mat workout. All in all, pretty solid. If you're looking to join, negotiate your monthly rate!

Haven’t been in Crunch for a few months and was pleasantly surprised. They completely renovated the sauna! Brand new wood and everything else. Same great temperature. So good! And with a variety of classes this makes it one of the best locations.

Weird atmosphere from the start—this gym feels cramped and more like an old apartment building than a real fitness center. The two male staff members working in the afternoon were rude, giving off bad vibes and making the place feel more like a high school hangout than a professional gym. I didn’t feel welcomed at all and will be canceling my Crunch membership.

Skip this gym! the front desk staff is incredibly rude. We came in excited to try the Signature Crunch for the first time, but the woman at the front desk today was unhelpful and had a terrible attitude. She tried to charge me $35 even though I explained I had never been to Crunch before and had only used my email to help my sister sign up. She told my partner he can go in for free instead. What? lol he didn’t wanted to and she insisted she take his picture. Instead of assisting, she kept asking condescending questions. Definitely not coming back. There are much better gyms out there.

On August 29, 2025 at approximately 4:25pm. I was school shopping downtown bk. Since I was driving down flatbush ave as a member of crunch I decided to stop here and use the restroom. I ask the lady behind the desk can I use the restroom. She was busy conversating to another lady sitting down that wasn't doing anything. While the desk lady was talking to the lazy sit down lady she was ready to scan my phone. I said I'm not working out today then I ask to use the restroom. She said, ummm an turn around to the lady sitting down. The lazy sit down lady yelled NO!. Then the desk lady said go next door to the pool hall and use it. After that experience as an member I will be canceling it today. I rather sign up and workout somewhere else where they treat people better.

Usually love this Crunch and all the staff but the guy at the front desk today had a huge attitude when I asked him if he could help me open my locker. I came in and must've put the code in wrong OR just forgot which one it was. I tried a few with my code and they wouldn't open. He got so annoyed when I asked him to check through them with the key. I used to work at a yoga studio where we had this issue all the time and I never gave a client attitude about it even if it was tedious. He was like viscerally upset bc I didn't remember which one had my bag. It's also not peak hours. It was 1:15pm on a Wednesday. And those lockers are made with a key for that exact reason.

Overall a decent gym for the price. One huge issue is they have this massive room called the sweat shed that it empty 90 percent of the time. It’s for classes and personal training only, but it’s completely wasted. Open it up to everyone when classes aren’t in session.

I trained here during a visit to Brooklyn with my son, who is a serious athlete. It had everything we need. Great equipment and very friendly staff and clientele. Good layout, and plenty of space if you avoid busiest times. Members and staff are very polite about making room for each other and sharing equipment if need be. Trainer Vaughn Johnson was super nice and knowledgeable. The rack of hyperice vibration balls and rollers are a great touch.

I go to sweat shed classes through Classpass- the instructors for the most part are great but the last four times I’ve gone the gym has been so hot that I’m sweating and struggling more because of the temperature than the workout. This location has gone down hill since I first started going pre-pandemic.

I rejoined 2 months ago and I cancelled my membership abruptly last week because it’s so crowded even at 6:30/7am that you almost always need to work in with other members. They should have capped memberships by now.

I also often found machines not in good working condition but they are typically fixed within the week.

Place is also not as clean and maintained as it once was.

P.S. charging last month’s membership is such a scam. Now I’m paying for 2 months I won’t end up using and I can’t transfer it to a friend or family member.

★ 3

The location is fine! Crowded but it’s New York City and I go at a busy time, so that’s not a problem.

My bigger complaint is that it feels like it feels poorly maintained in a couple ways. In the year I’ve gone here, for example, a paper towel dispenser in the men’s locker room has never worked. The sauna is frequently broken (even when it is operational, some of the planks are rotting), as well as one of the urinals in the men’s locker room.

The locker room could be cleaner, but I also understand it’s hard given the high volume of people moving through.

Ultimately, good place to workout, but the poor maintenance unsettles me given that you pay extra to use this location in particular given that it’s a “signature location.”

A v solid location. Great space and layout. Excellent weight room downstairs and cardio and machines upstairs. The leg machines - specifically the ab/aductor should be replaced - and in general the machine area upstairs is not up to other crunches in terms of quality and modern machines. Other Crunches I’ve been to are much nicer than this one. Main issues are with the old/janky equipment and lack of space/machines for strength training.

Switched from another gym because I got an exceptional promotional deal. It’s worth at a much-lower-than-normal price, but not at the standard price. There isn’t enough strength equipment for the number of people who go (just 2 bench press machines and about 6 regular benches), and as other reviewers note, everything is old and the machines are often broken or not working properly. The cardio machines are also of inconsistent quality, but there’s enough of them that this isn’t a huge issue. Been to a couple Crunch locations and this is clearly the worst of them.

It's fine. As other reviews have stated, some shady stuff goes on where they say they sent a letter notifying you of increases in fees but that's not the case. There are sometimes issues with the equipment sticking or not being maintained well (rope attachments super frayed, bathrooms without paper towels, lots of hair and dust in the class rooms), and front desk is very hit or miss.

There was a period of time where they clearly paid for fake reviews to boost their score on Google.

Good thing is it's a convenient location and they have some great teachers.

Never have seen an employee rerack anything and the trainers (not all) will often inconvenience other members (standing in the way, doing a circuit with their customer on 1 of 2 bench press stations for half an hour, using a bench to hold their phone and water) or just demonstrate bad gym etiquette.

Lately there's been chalk all over the weights area and several areas of the floor compress down and are a tripping hazard.

All in all, it's average, but priced high for the experience. If they brought in a good manager I think it would do wonders for this place.

GO ANYWHERE ELSE. I’ve been a member of this branch for over 4 years and held gym memberships all over the world. NEVER have I experienced so many problems with billing/freezing a membership for business travel as at this gym.

Having to come in person, the $25 freeze fee—you have got to be kidding. Why would anyone pay to freeze when gyms have revolving promos?!

I froze my membership due to long term business travel and was shocked to learn of the fee—I normally read my documents more closely, but the person assisting me spent 15min asking travel questions and for my social media accounts.

I thought everything was sorted and was shocked to receive notice of a past due amount after my card was hacked. So in addition to being overseas with no access to my funds, I had Crunch asking for payment and threatening late fees.

I’m literally needing emergency cash in a developing country and making high-cost international calls to resolve. I explained the situation and was met with zero compassion—not okay in the wellness world.

I recently upgraded my plan to include signature clubs and decided to visit this location in Brooklyn today for the first time. I was excited to bring a friend along, but unfortunately, my experience was soured by the attitude of the front desk rep, Sarah. She was passive-aggressive and rude throughout the interaction, which made the process unnecessarily stressful.

On a positive note, Bryan, another staff member, stepped in and tried his best to help. It's disappointing that such unprofessional behavior can overshadow what should have been a simple visit to the gym. I hope Crunch Fitness addresses this to ensure all members are treated with respect and courtesy.

Fine gym, but has material damage they refuse to fix.

On one of the deadlift platforms (there are two) there is a substantial hole in the padding on the left side, covered up by a thin layer of foam. This creates a hidden 3'' drop.

There's another hidden pitfall next to the shoulder press station to the right. I learned about that one by rolling my ankle lol. It's a little dangerous because you're lugging really heavy weight, and need to know to not step in these hidden holes.

I've alerted the front desk at least 4 times about this, with absolutely no avail.

Management isn't willing to fix some of the shoddy flooring, which kinda sucks.

Racist and prejudice employees. They asked what other gym I have went to and told them planet fitness. They refused to answer my questions about the membership. He said “planet fitness is 20$ and here it’s 97$ can you afford that ? “ I responded yes that is why I did a free trail to test out the gym. I had to ask where everything was at in the gym or figure it out, they gave other people tours while I struggled finding everything. This man was very rude and said that statement infront of many people trying to embarrass me and almost made me get a ticket I had to move my car. The gym its self is not terrible but the people they hire are disgusting. Clearly I wanted to upgrade my gym that’s why I did a trail to see if it’s worth 100$+ . Small rude boy at front desk refused to answer my inquiry as to why I was being billed more money than I agreed to in my contract. Said he has no information about billing, then later said he "heard" there was a fee increase. I asked when and he said I got an email. As I stood there looking through my emails to find this (didn't exist btw) and asked for date of increase (he doesn't know) he told me to "tone it down" in a belittling way (the only thing I asked for was information regarding my billing) and then said he would CALL THE POLICE if I didn't leave. May want to train employees that inability to do job is actually not something police can help with. Don't waste time, this place is a rip off.

Went there today with a free 3-day guest pass. The pass says I need to provide a "photo ID", without specifying what type of ID it must be. Jack Ramirez at the reception desk stated they only accept New York ID or a copy of my NYC lease. Vague and incomplete info from Crunch or Jack making up rules? As the wait time to obtain an appointment for an NYC ID is currently over 6 months, I offered to provide my mobile phone bill with local address or other admin docs proving local residency, in vain. No flexibility, no explanation, no apology. This is either a scam or disrespectful customer service.

They have charged me more money than was offered to me for the past 6 months and when I contact them they say that they had sent a physical mail to me saying it would apparently increase. There is no proof of them having sent it. Besides, why wouldn’t they email me such important information about increase in my membership? When they emails me every single day about offers?

It’s ridiculous. It’s a way of extorting money from you and I have been contacting the director at this gym and they are extremely unresponsive. They send two line responses and not answer my question. It’s like they lured me into an offer, and then quietly increased by not emailing me and when I ask for accountability, they say they sent a physical mail which they have no proof for.

I am looking to escalate this, and talking about it where I can. The trainers and cleaners at this gym are really good, but not the way it is managed at the admin level. Be careful about your money with them.

Best gym that money can buy! The staff (including Keith) and trainers (including Taylor and Robb) are awesome and welcoming. The group fitness classes and SweatShed are exactly what make my experience a huge WIN and keep me coming back consistently and connecting with others. The fitness instructors (including but not limited to Stephen S, Manny A, Patrick F, Juan L, Michelle W, Tiffani G, Corrine T, Taj H, Laura G, Patty Y) are extremely knowledgeable and just absolute BOSSES in their craft. If you want to be led through focused and hard-core 30, 45, or 60 minute classes that will leave you feeling stronger and motivated to return, this is the place to be. Consistency is key, so stick with it and don't give up to see results.

Crunch HQ REALLY needs to fire everyone here, fully gut the place (it’s nasty and is a logistical nightmare), and start over.

Fitness Staff —
• loudly talk and make fun of others, ie comparing their client to others in the gym.
• lack basic anatomy/kinesiology knowledge at this location with an over focus on bulking and “getting big” despite client wishes and/or diet/lifestyle
• trainers hang out with clients and friends on weight equipment with no regard to others

Cleaning crew —
• a third party hire that crunch acts powerless about.
• They make it really unsafe to workout here. They clean under you while you’re on cardio and weight lifting machines.

Management —
• acts powerless about everything.
• denies charging different prices in regard to all-access memberships despite my cross referencing with other members and will not match my price to that location.

Facilities —
• bathroom ALWAYS stinks
• toilet paper holders fall open constantly
• they they add isopropyl alcohol to all body washes in order to stretch the product
• we’re all getting charged differently on memberships
• there’s a ton of room but barely enough machinery to handle when busy hours occur

Don't usually post reviews but possibly one of the worst gyms (also compared to other Crunch locations) that I've been to. Always crowded, the weight area is tiny and jam packed, smells unpleasant many times, temperature is always off and the whole atmosphere isn't very welcoming.

Speaking of welcoming, the only time the staff (not maintenance) speak to you courteously is when they need you to purchase a gym membership. Once you're a member, they won't look at your face (forget greeting you or hearing any concerns). The staff severely needs re-training on customer service and maybe try smiling when speaking to members (after they're done purchasing their membership)

I would have hoped that a manager (or co-owner), "Andrew" Ganish, would have proper courtesy while addressing and talking to gym members. Who would you then complain or address customer service issues, or any issues for that matter? Disappointed.

At least Planet Fitness has a mantra of "No judgement" and the air is respectful and I've never had any issues with Planet Fitness in all my years of going to the gym. Suggest you look at all your options before you invest monthly in this very expensive gym location. Crunch locations generally are good though, this one however, needs some staff changes.

Giving 2 stars for the convenient location, 3 floors and friendly employees. However, for $100/month membership, this gym is definitely lacking. I went in at 7am this Saturday (yesterday) when the gym opened and the bathroom was not cleaned as it had a big stain and also it didn’t have toilet paper. I went in again on Sunday (today) and the bathroom was still not clean because the same stain still remained. Yesterday it was raining and the roof was leaking in 4 different spots and they had buckets on the floor to catch the water. It was really gross and felt like I was at a gym that costs $20/month.

Another recurring issue I have is that the machines always have weights on them. It should be better encouraged to re-rack weights after using them. The leg press machine always have 2-3 45lbs plates on each side and I have to take them off before I put my own weights on them. I alerted the front desk of this issue before and I was basically told that there’s nothing they can do. The previous gym I went to, employees walked around to make sure proper gym etiquette was followed. This is something I would expect from a gym that costs this much. In addition, when I come in at 7am when the gym opens on the weekends, the weights are STILL on the machines which leads me to believe that the employees don’t re-rack weights the night before. If they don’t re-rack weights, are they even cleaning the machines? Are the machines and area not thoroughly cleaned each night because that’s absolutely disgusting.

There’s also only one barbell in the weight room on the bottom floor. And 2 of the barbells in the weight room can’t hold any plates. The plates won’t fit and I even spoke to a trainer about it and he said that 2 of the barbells don’t work. What’s the point of a barbell on a squat rack if they can’t hold any plates?

Basically, better cleaning, better gym etiquette and better gym equipment will make the price worth it.

Great machines and crowd. Very respectful and this branch had great massage machine that is perfect after a workout -- you wake up next morning with no aches and pains.

I switched to this gym after a less than satisfactory experience at Blink. The monthly membership cost was definitely my biggest reservation, but once I got to see the space and chat with someone, I felt like it was the right investment. The best thing about this gym (this location in particular) is how clean and organized the space is. I don't utilize the traditional weight room on the first floor, but I can speak to the cleanliness of the second floor cardio and stretching areas. I always see a staff member cleaning the machines/floors/equipment or restocking towels (included in membership). The locker rooms are a bit dated, and I don't use the showers, but from what I can tell, they are clean and functional. I have taken a handful of classes and I'd give them a B+. They're solid, but not the main draw IMO. Overall very happy with here so far.

Edit: I just cancelled my membership. There’s no big reason against crunch I just got free access to another gym. The classes here are very limited unfortunately. You’re supposed to sign up but people just walk in and it gets very crowded. There aren’t enough spaces or classes to justify the $100+ cost per month IMO. Solid gym but not amazing (better than blink though lol)

Although there are cleaning staff always around mopping, they are not cleaning the showers. I was excited about my membership here, the attraction for me was the sauna. I would work out, sit in the sauna for 45min then shower. I used the same shower every day. One Saturday there was a large bulk of someone's hair on one of the shower walls. To my dismay, the hair was still there the next evening - I was grossed out. The third day in a row, the hair was still there. It was disgusting. The cleaning women were in there all three days just mopping away. I concluded the mopping was their look busy impression, because by the bulk of hair on the shower wall 3 days in a row, the showers weren't being cleaned. Toilets were also often unsanitary.

Never has shower products stocked. Every month something is missing. Before the director of operations was in charge of ordering and now allegedly they’ve given that responsibility to a third party cleaning crew so now Crunch’s hands are clean. What a deceptive way to displace responsibility.

The customer service is an actual tragedy. Their website is a shambles and don’t think the FAQ is accurate. Even worse is the phone and in-person communication. The staff don’t care about the patrons. If you need anything, best of luck because they do not care. And if it’s billing, just cancel your membership because you won’t get anywhere

Favorite gym in NYC so far. Quality trainers and everyone is friendly. My only complaint is the music could be better and represent Brooklyn more (but can’t make everyone happy there!).

Two classes I recommend are yoga with Lillian (by far why I continue coming here) and any spin class with Kimmi (also they play the best music that the rest of the gym should utilize 😜).

Writing this review based on my personal training experience rather than the gym itself. I received 3 training sessions with my sign-up and am accustomed to this with most gyms as a way to get new members to sign up for additional training sessions. This experience was different than those as the trainer that was assigned to me (Franklin) was extremely personable, nice, and seemed genuinely interested in my fitness growth. I felt nervous to tell him that I wouldn't be purchasing additional training sessions for the time being, but when I did he was completely understanding and supportive. When I see him in the gym now he speaks to me with a smile and asks how I'm doing. It's a small thing by one individual, but it certainly goes a long way in terms of my perception of Crunch in general.

I love this place, been coming here for years. Can be pretty crowded at peak hours, so best to plan accordingly. All the equipment is well maintained and really friendly staff. I go to a lot of Crunches nationally while traveling and this is one of the best. The only downsides are that the layout is pretty contorted to fit the building and they need new towels, but that's being picky.

Excellent staff, really the best I’ve ever encountered in any gym. And, with a few exceptions, the members are generally considerate and conscientious. People tend to put the equipment back and refrain from talking loudly on their cell phones while working out…generally.
The problem is that there is rarely a reasonable time of day when you don’t have to compete for a bench or for the equipment. It’s much more crowded than before the pandemic.
They keep saying they will likely return to the pre-pandemic 11:00PM weekday closing time (it’s now 10:00PM) but that continues to be postponed. Originally it was going to happen this summer but now the ETA is the Fall. We’ll see.
It would help if they replaced the flat bench and the two incline benches they have on the gym floor with benches that can be adjusted from flat to incline. (They only have two of those now for some reason.)
As I said, though, the staff is great. THEY merit five stars.

Went to check in for a gym session I had booked from 12-2, I arrived 18 minutes past when I needed to check in for my reservation and was turned away at the door. They told me I could pay for a day pass or book for another session and wait for 1.5 hours for the next session to start. So they refused my reservation and tried to get me to pay more to workout. 0/10 wouldn’t recommend if you want a gym that sees you as a person and not a $ sign. Never had an experience where people aren’t understanding or flexible when it is someone’s first time coming to a gym. You would think that they would want return business but instead I will not be returning.

Terrible customer service. I stopped at this location to speak to someone about pre pandemic membership issues I had. I have previously waited for an email response about the same issue for 3 month. Not only I was treated in a rude manner from the membership manager himself - other workers came over to “listen on” our conversation that was supposed to be private. When I asked if I can submit the claim about an email that was unanswered for 3 months, the manager told me that I should submit it to the same email that I was not being replied from. At that point I felt so disrespected that I had to leave.

I received judgment by the manager can you please report that. He racially profiled me although we are both the same completion. Ty this happen around 5pm. He also mandated that I come towards him. Threw me off right away when all I needed was a simple question to be answer. Everything just seem force. Can u please report that manager. Ty. He’s black. Not cool what so ever. Super weird ruin my day. Check the cameras if you have to just to view body language. He also begin to stare at my legs from the jump didn’t know what that was about but of course I just needed a question to be answer. I’m speaking up as anyone should. Great location right near many train stations just a weird manager. Ty for reading. Also it seem like I was “disturbing a vibe.” So weird spoke to me like I was 5 squinted eyes and all. Super weird I don’t recommend going there if you have to communicate with this troubling “manager”. He also isn’t at all attractive if he thought I was trying to hint on him yuck not cool body language threw me off from the jump. Also the workers at the desk need better social skills to work at a public gym or any gym that requires questions and vibes to be answered and directed. Not whatsoever being picky but this just isn’t at all a cool experience for any new ones or a Brooklyn native dealing with people that probably are ones to be gentrifying the area. So this is me turning up ty for reading and hopefully taking notice. Again 🙏 1love
