I've been learning dance at Dance With Me Long Island studio for four months now, and I've made incredible progress from a complete beginner to mastering various dance styles: Bachata, Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, and Argentine Tango. LOVE the studio and the instructors! Have been doing weekly lessons since they reopened in the spring. A variety of available packages make it easy to tailor it to your needs and schedules. I LOVE DWMLI! From the instructors and the lessons to the dancing and the community you become a part of, it has been the experience I've been looking for since moving to Long Island four years ago. I have always loved dancing but never knew how to dance with a partner. My husband and I have immensely enjoyed their private and group classes, and now we have a new skill that we can enjoy together forever! So far, we've learned how to salsa, cha-cha, and bachata together. Classes are easy to follow, with individual guidance even during group classes, and you walk away from each lesson having learned plenty enough to dance together! However, what truly makes this place feel like a second home is the people - Yurii, Valeriia, & Srna are not only incredible dancers and teachers, but they are also kind, funny, and effortlessly cool. Eric was phenomenal in teaching us the bachata first dance for our wedding. He was super from beginning to end, patient in teaching us the steps and helping us work together, he listened carefully to what we wanted and crafted an elegant but simple choreography that was within our ability, he was creative in putting the music and movement together, and he made something potentially stressful quite fun. And we knocked it outta the park! He came to our wedding reception to teach bachata to our guests and he made it so fun and accessible for everyone. It got them all dancing, all ages and set us up for a great rest of the evening on the dance floor! We are so grateful and happy we found him!

Walking in the doors of Dance with Me Long Island has been one of the best decisions of my life. I was really nervous the first time I walked into the studio. After all..it is the home of Maks, Val and Tony from Dancing with the Stars. How would they view this 50 plus , out of shape woman who hasn't danced in years? I am a fan of Dancing with the Stars and after watching a few seasons with older contestants, I thought..maybe I can do that ! I loved dance when I was younger, but really thought those days were over. Even though I can appear confident, I felt really nervous and out of place. That did not last very long. From the front desk ladies...(from Katherine and Kaisha), who embraced me , to every one of my teachers ( Jason ,Julio and Andrea), I was able to start regaining confidence that I had lost for years. At Dance with Me Glen Head you get individualized instruction for all types of dance desires. I have even had great coaching and lessons with Maks and Val! Whether you want to learn to dance for a special occasion like a wedding, or are younger and interested in dancing competitively, or just want to meet some people and take a few group lessons, Dance with Me Long Island can provide different levels to meet your needs and budget. I will warn you, other studios will cost less money, but for me, the quality of teaching is worth the price I pay. All of the instructors are completely invested in the art form..and it shows whenever you are in the studio. I am treated like a student of dance and I love that feeling. I am happy to say that I have been taking lessons both individually and in groups, off and on, for 4 years. Participating in competitions and showcases has been some of the best experiences of my adult life. I can't wait to do it again! The DWM FAM is so wonderful. I love my friends at the studio. I have been a dancer since the age of 3, and at 24 I had found myself out of my studio, out of college, and left with hole dancing everyday once filled. Finding Julio at Dance With Me was one of the greatest things that had happened to me. Even though it wasn’t everyday, I finally found a place to dance again, a place to challenge me, a place to make me smile, and a home to dance my troubles away again. I wouldn’t have driven an hour to get there if it wasn’t worth it! And holy cow, it truly was. I really cannot say enough wonderful things about my teacher Julio, and I really don’t think there are any words out there to properly express just how amazing he really is. As an instructor, Julio is PATIENT, understanding, supportive, encouraging and incredibly knowledgeable. He is so fun, and is able to showcase your strengths and improve your weaknesses. All the instructors at Dance With Me just simply know how to bring a smile to everyone’s face. Dance With Me Glen Head has become my second home. As someone with self-esteem/confidence/anxiety issues, I've always loved to dance but always withdrew in myself to never let me progress. Every single one of my instructors have helped mold me into a more confident person who challenges herself day to day. It always feels like a breath of fresh air walking into that studio every week. They're so hands on with their students and everyone always has a smile on their face. I wouldn't suggest anywhere else for dancing.

I'm learning disabled, and part of my disability is having a hard taking directions and understanding them quickly. Here at Dance With Me, the instructors have been so incredible with... it would be hard for someone to guess that I have a learning disability because of the fact of how well they have taught me. When I came to Dance With Me Glen Head I had not taken any dance lessons, etc. I thought ok maybe a few lessons! But this was not intimidating and everyone was so nice that I thought ok....maybe a few more. That was 4 years ago. My son, Brett, has been a student with the Dance With Me Glen Head studio for 8 years, since he was 8 years old. He is an original student since the studio was a month old, and has enjoyed himself the entire time.
Brett is on the Autistic Spectrum, but nonetheless, the teachers and staff past and present have always been enthusiastic, supportive, and encouraging to name a few qualities.
Dance With Me is a family in every sense, and is nothing less than exceptional. I cannot say enough about the teachers and staff. Dancing, his involvement with the showcase sand competitions within the Dance With Me company has contributed to his development, confidence, respect, social and communication skills. Brett dances because he loves it and has fun. Everything they teach you at Dance With Me doesn't start and stop on the dance floor. You take it with you.

I personally feel that this place is a total rip off. I first came to Dance With Me after going to a studio that was not teaching me the proper technique. I was about 17 years old and got an introductory deal. The instructor was nice but was teaching me open level dance routines and was NOT teaching me technique. I didn't go there to dance some silly show dance like the celebs on Dancing with the Stars. Today, I find it rude that they had such little respect for the art of ballroom dancing to not start off by teaching me true technique. Not knowing what a good instrutor really was at the time, I continued dancing there until my package was done. The manager would not work with me in getting me new package at a good cost and wanted me to pay $120 for 45 mins. I didn't go back to the studio and began to dance in Brooklyn and NYC.

If you want to learn how to dance ballroom, go to Ballroom Palace in Roslyn, they are way more reasonable for Long Island and they have instructors who are invested in you progress. If you go to Dance Passion in Brooklyn, you can also get quality private lessons from $50 -$70. Ballroom dancing should be respected and not captialized on and exploited.

The only reason I didn't give it one star is because I actually did like my instructors. However, it was hard to trust what was real and what was fake because ultimately they are salesman. In my opinion, this place portrays the family atmosphere to pull you in but they merely are just preying on people who need attention. Therefore, this is not a place for someone who merely just loves to dance and wants to learn. They delay your process to keep getting you to purchase more lessons. I don't think all the instructors were like this but were being forced to do what management wants. This is why they have such a high turnover of instructors.
They are also completely u organized!! They messed up scheduling so many times and yet give the student a hard time when needing to cancel of its not at least 24 hours in advance. I get that it's hard to fill the slots but if it's okay for them to cancel then why is it not okay if something comes up for a student? They say well you can dance with someone else and they just sometimes won't even tell you until you get there. For the amount of money it costs for a lesson, I should dance with the instructor of my choice, not theirs.
It is also very gossipy there and there are a few students that have been there awhile and think they are superior to all. If you are a good dancer you get looks that can kill because of the jealousy that exists in that place.
I actually love DWTS and will admit that is why I was drawn there. I stayed because I like my instructors but honestly this place is a ripoff and poorly ran. Sorry Maks, Val, and Tony but I just feel your names are used as a way to take more money from people and it's a disgrace because just as you love to dance, there are many people with a true desire to learn. Why not make it more affordable? Perhaps you would not have all the issues that I noticed in the short time I was there. Ballroom dancing is expensive, yes I get that, but is way more affordable other places and you get more for your money.
The bottom line is dont get sucked in like I did. I'm done there and although I love to dance I am happy I left. I don't like dishonesty and fake people. They would have gotten further with me if they didn't always try to schmooz me because I am too smart to fall for that. Anyway, I could go on and on but I think this says enough.

The experiences at this studio are those I could never have anticipated. Each instructor is extremely patient and caring and you never feel intimidated. Although they are all professionals with varying levels/areas of expertise, your lessons are customized to your personal goals, and them some, as they bring the best out of each and every student. There are many days I get frustrated with myself, but they encourage you every step of the way--and a few big time belly laughs in between don't hurt to make it enjoyable and memorable. I have made some new friends for life. I saw a quote form the Dance with Me parent company today as follows "Don't be afraid to be amazing. The first step is always the hardest, but once you get moving you start grooving". That about says it all!

Dance With Me Glen Head has brought much happiness into my life. I have had the opportunity to learn how to dance, enjoy moving my body and have music fill my head. Just as important I have met wonderful people. My current instructor, Trevor, is a fabulous dancer, a caring teacher and a joy to work with. But, this can be said for all the staff. I always marvel at how down to earth and caring Max, Val and Tony are whether I am chatting with them at functions or at the Glen Head studio when they are teaching there. They may be 'stars' but everyone is treated like family and friends. Ralph, the manager of Glen Head, is an experienced instructor and is always trying to accommodate the students. There are many events, shows, group lessons and parties to participate in, but how much you do is your choice. I always have fun!

Started ballroom dancing and at DWM in June 2013 and I absolutely love it! The entire staff is amazing, with very warm, friendly, and encouraging atmosphere. You always get the feeling that they want you to do your best and succeed at whatever your goals that brought you there are. Not only are the private lessons beyond amazing, but the group lessons and social parties are very educational and fun. I look forward to them each week. The instructors are wonderful at tailoring teaching to the way in which you learn. They make each lesson fun while striving to teach you to be your best at the varies dances. If you are looking to learn lead and follow partner/couple dancing, look elsewhere. They teach dance routines here, not how to dance. If you want to to be able to navigate a dance crowded dance floor with a partner you will be disappointed. If you want to learn how to put on a show, this maybe the place for you.
Instruction was inconsistent. Felt like I was in the instructor of the month club.
Nice people, good instruction, just not what I was looking for. If you are coming as a couple, be prepared cause you will probably be the only couple in place.
As far as the whole Maks Chmerkovsky thing, if you sign up for one of his "group classes" on the occasions when he comes to town, be prepared for an expensive Dancing With the Stars gossip session and not a whole lot of dance. Which is fine, just know what you are paying for.
