Best gym in the bronx, for the hardcore bodybuilding crowd... don't go there looking for massage chairs ands spas;
and don't expect it to be clean either. Staff are mostly ex-bodybuilders past their prime with a chip on their shoulder, theyre pretty rude (unless your a woman and then some are a bit too friendly) and generally lack class. But you don't go there for them so if you don't mind any of this and are just looking for a good workout without all the riffraff, daros is for you...

The best fitness gym, this gem is not for people who are not ready to change themselves health wise and strength. It's a body builders playground with only hard-core trainers and equipment. I love this place, and the owner is a wonderful guy. Don't expect a massage chair, don't expect to be babied

The last and only "Real" Gym left in the Bronx. Daro's Gym is an Old School, Hardcore Gym and You'll love it!

"They" haven't updated the photos here on Google--most are from the "old location", which was much bigger, but Daro's gym is still a darn good gym. If you are in the Bronx and need a place to train, you will like Daro's Gym. It's worth your business!

Daro's Gym has a lot of good equipment: lots of free weights, good quality benches, nice barbell selection, heavy Dumbbells (160 lbs, I think? maybe heavier...) and a real nice selection of machines. The Leg machines are real nice at Daro; and it can really help you work around an injury, or just trying to get some nice shape to your body. Daro has it all.

People at Daro's Gym are real polite, quite and just do their thing--no nonsense and I like that. Come in, workout, and leave.

I took a star off because when I go in at my time to train (afternoon), the cleaning man uses this really strong smelling chemical that messes up my breathing while I work out. Not his fault--he has to do his job--but it really burns my throat and nose.

Parking is real bad here... it is what it is. It's near a lot of mechanic shops who take-up everything. No spots, no nothing. So... you gotta commute by train or just walk/bike it.

Fun fact. The bathrooms are locked and you have to get a key from front desk. There’s no signs to do this so you might think they have no toilets . There is a urinal unlocked) and the sink is in a room with the toilet Which is locked. Seems very odd

PROS:

-10 dollars for a walk-in/day pass
-Very affordable membership deals
-Traditional, hardcore, body building gym
-Small but big enough
-Lots of equipment
-Friendly staff

Cons:
-The locker room situation is annoying. Up some very tiny steps and the lockers aren't good

-The photos of the last gym should be taken off. Because I used to go to the old location and prior to going I spoke with someone about the wrestling ring, just to get there and have NO wrestling ring. So....

-If you're looking to use the wrestling ring or use the heavy bags, ITS NO LONGER HERE at the new location. Again, there's no wrestling ring or heavy bags at the new location.

Overall not a bad gym if you're looking to get yoked for a very affordable price but don't expect anything fancy whatsoever. This is a VERY old school kind of gym. You're not going to see some of the amenities that the newer gyms nowadays have.

It’s an industrial boutique with all the equipment you could possibly need. Machines, weights and bars you won’t be able to find at the competitor gyms like Blink. It’s slightly more expensive than the other cheap gyms which means you can cut out a lot of the nonsense. Everyone is on it! Easy 5 stars

I come and visit my family and am always looking for a gym. I absolutely love the machines here. It’s an old school gym so if ur looking for new equipment, u won’t find it here. They have everything u need! Couple things why I only gave them 4 stars. Place is extremely dirty, I had to get wipes to wipe the machines before and after my workout. No ac, which isn’t a problem for me. I like sweating when I’m working out but it would be a problem for a lot of people. Guy was very nice at the front and gave me everything I needed when I asked for it. Will continue coming here whenever I’m in town

Alright so here’s the thing with this gym. Is a neighborhood gem. Of course is a bit “expensive” compared to big name brand gyms like Blink or PF but if you are looking for a chill place that has every machine you need plus a great deal of free weights, this is your place. Also has lots of space and pull-up bars for calisthenics. Cardio is your regular treadmills , bikes, and elliptical. Maybe not the “nicest” gym but is a great gym nonetheless for pumping iron or just anyone trying to get fit. People here are friendly and will never put you down but help you instead. Great gym in my opinion been going for years and never let me down. 5 stars

I love this place... it's like a playground. My hubby and I made good use of the equipment and the bags. I like that it's spacious, has a lot of equipment, and they have all kinds of bars for pull ups and what not. It's ten bucks for each workout without a time constraint. I knocked off a star for the messiness, the floors were hella dirty and I saw broken glass in the floor, there's no sanitary restrictions or control.

Great gym if you want to do straight weights. Cardio equipment is really bad and they do not have a water fountain. Bathrooms are also very broken down. They do sell water bottles there and will give you water in a cup if you ask. Overall it is a decent gym

Hardcore Gym! No ACs water fountain toilet paper especially no showers at all. plenty of free weights and machines are in great quality condition. Sweatbox remind me of the old Eastside Gym where I used to train. Make sure you bring your own Frozen cold water and drinks a couple of tee shirts and towels
