Phenomenal gym. Great equipment for conjugate lifters or any lifter in general. Whatever your goal is they definitely have the means to get you there. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The best gym I’ve been to and highly recommend to lifters of all backgrounds: powerlifting, strongman, Olympic, CrossFit, etc.

I just participated in a strong man event at East Ave Barbell. The event was ran very efficiently and professionally. The staff that worked the event was great and the facility was awesome. Lots of specialized strongman equipment (that you wouldn’t see in a commercial gym) and a great atmosphere. Based on the facilities and the people; I would recommend this gym to anyone looking for comprehensive traditional or unconventional strength training.

I participated in a 12-week powerlifting class at East Ave Barbell which led up to their 2025 Spring Iron powerlifting meet. Both of those were great experiences and I'd highly recommend that anyone interested weightlifting check out East Ave (or if you're already a regular gym-goer wanting to get more out of your hobby). They've got a ton of equipment and it's a welcoming place. Great gym!

I went to east ave barbell last year for only a couple of months, the gym was great. Great coaches and staff, awesome equipment and whatever your fitness goals are, this place is LEGIT and will get you there. Unfortunately I had to cancel my membership due to money being kind of tight at the time. I had noticed a while later that there was some kind of mix up with the cancellation and I was still being charged monthly, no biggie mistakes happen. I emailed Charles and told him what was going on and he immediately refunded me all of the money through Venmo. No hassle whatsoever, he made it right as soon as I told him the situation. Very honest and trustworthy people here. If you’re looking for a gym to go to I would highly recommend East Ave Barbell.

I would point anyone looking for a gym in Rochester to East Ave Barbell. I came in as a beginner in their powerlifting group class and immediately felt comfortable and welcomed, even among the advanced athletes. The equipment, membership, and coaching options work for every level in strongman, powerlifting, and weightlifting. I was able to progress and approach my first powerlifting meet (also at EAB) with confidence

Visited East Ave. Barbell during my work travel week to Rochester. Wanted to give a shout out to Chris for the warm welcome. Had all the equipment I needed, and would recommend for anyone who trains in powerlifting, weightlifting, and/or strongman.

East Avenue Barbell is an outstanding gym that I personally power lift at. This gym truly stands out in the Rochester fitness community. From the moment you walk in, the welcoming atmosphere sets the tone for an incredible training experience. The gym is equipped with top-notch equipment, making it a perfect place for powerlifting, strongman training, and Olympic weightlifting.
There is a nice sense of camaraderie among members and everyone is genuinely supportive of each other’s goals. Whether you’re a seasoned lifter or just starting, you’ll feel right at home.

The owners are a standout feature of this gym. They are incredibly accommodating and always willing to help, whether it’s offering training tips or adjusting equipment to meet your needs. Their passion for fitness and community shines through in every aspect of the gym.

East Ave. Barbell is a great place for anyone looking for a gym that has all the equipment for strength athletes. I was in town visiting family and needed to get my training sessions in as I am prepping for a powerlifting meet.
They had combo racks, calibrated plates and bars to allow me to train to competition standards without any hiccups in my training schedule.
As soon I walked in I was met by Chris, he was extremely welcoming asked me a ton of questions to make sure that my training session was seamless and I can find everything I needed.
If you are a strength or barbell athlete looking for a gym that has everything thing you need! 10/10 recommend, I will definitely be returning anytime I am in the are!

Just workout out for the first time at East ave barbell and from PA. This gym is the most family oriented and the most friendly gym environment I’ve ever been in workouts posted on walls made from the owner who is a NASM CPT is awesome for those who may not have there own regiment. I have my own programming I follow and all the equipment there was perfect for use and very clean and organized. One of the owners I talked to, Chris, was extremely open and friendly from the moment I walked in till the time I left. This is a no doubt 10/5 stars for me and whenever I’m back in the area visiting this will be the gym I come to!!!

Excellent facility with top of the line equipment, friendly and helpful coaches, and an incredible training atmosphere. 24/7 keycard access is also very convenient, as I do shift work. I’ve been a member since
2018, consider East Ave Barbell as a second home. I would highly recommend East Ave Barbell to anybody in the greater Rochester area who wants a powerlifting/strongman/olympic lifting/crossfit style gym.

I participated in the USA Powerlifting East Ave Barbell Spring Iron competition this past weekend. This was my first time lifting in an event like this, and the team at East Ave Barbell set the bar really high. The facility is great and has everything the serious lifter would need. The way they ran the meet was like a well oiled machine. Tremendous experience and I will definitely be participating in future meets there. Thank you East Ave Barbell!

What a great place! I signed up to participate in my second ever powerlifting meet here on 3/23. Before the meet, I stopped by to get my bearings and get a workout in. Chris was incredibly welcoming and helpful when I arrived, and I was much more comfortable attending the meet because of the visit.
The meet itself was fantastic. It was efficiently organized, friendly, and everything was done professionally. Instead of being intimidated because of my relative lack of experience, I was welcomed and encouraged. If I lived nearby, this is the gym I'd go to.

I joined this gym recently, and have been impressed with what it has to offer. The gym is in a good sized space with every type of equipment you can think of, and the owners (Chris) and coaches (Grant) have been very welcoming since I started coming here. The place has the vibe of a competitive gym, as it hosts strongman competitions which are popular, but it also has a laid back feel and the other gym goers are friendly which makes for a pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend this gym for serious weightlifters, or for those otherwise looking to learn the basics of strength and conditioning.

I cannot say enough good things about this gym. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I never feel uncomfortable about asking a question as a new (er) lifter. The trainers are extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. The fellow patrons are friendly and respectful (especially appreciated as a woman lifter~ never a creepy vibe) and the equipment is organized, well maintained and plentiful. Especially strongman gear, which can be hard to find. 10/10.

I started the Starting Strength program in Boston almost two years ago. Although I moved to Rochester a year ago, I just recently joined East Ave Barbell and I am so glad I did. The owners, Chris and Tim are very friendly and welcoming. They have all of the equipment needed for barbell training and strength training plus cross fit and olympic weights. I've met people of all ages there from teenage to seventies and they are all inspiring. I train barbell but others do strongman training and East Ave has all of the equipment needed. They have micro weights, a full range of dumbbells, machines, and lots of power racks and barbells, and equipment for strongman competitions plus they offer personal training. I can highly recommend East Ave. Barbell.

I have been to gyms around the United States and around the world. East Ave Barbell is easily the best. They have the most useful and diverse sets of equipment you can find, and an outstanding and welcoming community that feels more like a family as you spend more time there. The coaches are incredibly experienced and knowledgeable! It is a great place to workout, intern, or even talk about health and fitness. They constantly have lifting meets and classes in the works. This is a growing gym that you definitely want to be a part of. I wouldn’t trade my time with them for anything. I wish I could bring the gym with me wherever I go.

Last year I signed up for a powerlifting meet for the first time. The meet was a few months out and, although I have been training on my own for years, I was overwhelmed at the idea of competition. I reached out to Chuck at East Ave Barbell and I am so glad I did! He worked with me to set goals, create a hybrid online / in person program for me, and handled all the details the day of the meet! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I have continued to train with Chuck since then. Not only does he work with my incredibly unpredictable schedule; he took the time to get to know me as an athlete. Most importantly, the huge gains I’ve seen are proof that his system works!

All levels and all abilities are part of this community and the coaches at EAB are next level. Some of the best I've ever worked with in my 10+ years in the fitness and strength arena. Shot out to Chris, all the wonderful trainers, and people (Robyn and Steve included) at East Ave Barbell. If your looking for a community to lift with and become more proficient in your lifts look no further. There truly are no strangers here. I meet Chris through Robyn who introduced me as her friend after only meeting here a minute prior. Over the next 12 weeks, and with a lot of encouragement, I’d do my first rope climb, deadlift just shy of 315, and Silver Medal in my first Powerlifting Comp. At first, I was apprehensive of joining East Ave. Barbell because of the limited hours, but it actually ended up being a good thing, and they are expanding the hours. Because everyone is there around the same time, the community tends to get to know each other, and that's one of the best things about East Ave Barbell. Everyone is very supportive of each other, there are more experienced people there to coach or just provide some feedback on your lifts.

There's a good variety of equipment available outside of the standard gym stuff, like safety squat bars, chains, bumper plates, blocks, GHR machines, etc. to fit everyone's training needs, and they invest a lot of the revenue towards more and better equipment, so it's only improving.

Highly recommended for people to join our awesome community.
