Our family will never return to this establishment again. We have been attending for almost a year and never had any issues with any of the instructors until we had an encounter with the owner Dawn. My husband and I noticed my daughter (who is only 3 mind you) heading across the gym with an instructor (which usually means she has to use the restroom) I began heading down the stairs as I heard the owner telling my daughter in a rude tone “you only get one bathroom break.” Another parent was also standing down there with me and even asked me if that was my child that she was speaking to. Dawn then opened the gym door and stated to me “mom she’s only allowed one bathroom break.” I then told her that she is only 3 and can have as many bathroom breaks as she needs. I could understand if she was maybe an 8-10 year old child, but she is a literal 3 year old. All of the toddlers in the class use the bathroom throughout the class and the first time she had to go was a false alarm (totally normal for toddlers). After she had went to the bathroom she returned to class and was doing fine until her class moved into the same vicinity as Dawn. She had a sad look on her face and reached up to me and my husband who were watching in the window. We immediately went down to ask her what was wrong and if she wanted to go home, which she responded “yes.” This whole time as we are trying to talk to our child the owner Dawn is trying to diminish the encounter. We have our daughter in dance class, and swim lessons as well and have never had such a big issue over something as small as just using the bathroom. It was made into such a big deal that as we were leaving our daughter said that she’s scared of the teacher. I advised Dawn we would not be returning to class and asked for my $205 tuition that I just paid last week to be refunded and she refused. Which is fine because we will just go elsewhere. We even witnessed Dawn make another parent with her toddler re-walk down the gym two times to enter class because they didn’t walk down the line correctly. Just wanted to make other parents aware of her behavior. This used to be her favorite program prior to this and now she has said multiple times she doesn’t want to go back. Definitely don’t go here unless you want your child to feel less than over small things.

This place has been a horrible experience for me and my family for my child’s birthday party ,from the moment we walked into the building with our party items going up the party room before we can put anything down we was being told where and how we should decorate and things would look better in the area be that area. Also while being micro managed by dawn it seemed like she didn’t like that we wanted to decorate and place items such and gifts and the cake elsewhere. . We paid for a couple hours for the party and the play but when it came down for the kids to play she said she would come around 140 and she was also late to bring the kids down to play witch led to a shorty play time for the children as well as her giving directions witch I find no problem with but explaining rules for a half hour is unnecessary and inconsiderate of the guest the kids got to play for about 25 minutes of that’s hour .. going back upstairs dawn started to fall my daughters name and say hey friend like she was going to show or give her something witch I was looking from across the room when I watched this lady kneel down and grip my child arm and tried to give her a demand like she was my child’s parent at that point it took everything out of me not to grab her and treat her like a 3 year old but I thought about my child and how easily she would play the victim card as she was doing after i addressed the situation and try to make it seem like she had no clue what she did wrong after . I wouldn’t recommend this place for any children parties or family gatherings for any reason

I cannot speak about how they are for gymnastics but as far as a birthday party I can say don’t have one there it was horrible the owner was the worst. She literally policed every second of the party she gave no personal space and spent more time running her mouth with everything the kids couldn’t do to where the kids could not even enjoy themselves at all. And then felt the need to grab my granddaughter around the waste who is only 4 and who’s party it was for to tell her once again what she couldn’t do and that is very inappropriate you should never put your hands on someone else’s child. So much more I could say but will leave it as one of the worst experiences ever and would never recommend this place to any other parents.

My daughter started with Dawn and Empire Gymnastics in 1999 when they were in Marcy. Took a year off while she found another place and started up with here again and stayed with her until my daughter stopped going. I like Empire Gymnastics because it wasn't all about competition. The kids learned and they competed but they competed at their level to the best of their ability without the pressure. Highly recommend!
