Urgently needs a refurbishment. Locks needed

I really wish this wasn't true but, there's no other way to say it...this location is a mess. Rusty, wobbly, dangerous equipment. Staff with the appearance of being nice without the urgency of doing anything. A luxury fee without all the fuss of luxury. They must be waiting out their lease.

Disappointing. I’ve been at this Equinox for 3 years and it’s quite outdated . In the summer it’s even worse, they refuse to fix the ac system no matter how much we complain.

Recently joined, and this location is outdated. I’ve been to other locations and they all have locker with the door but this location you need to borrow a locker from the front desk.

This location needs a remodel.

And I do wish Equinox could have a couple more of locations open in Brooklyn.

It’s still far to go to any of locations in Brooklyn from Clinton hill.

Updated 6/15: I took a precision run class a few days ago and realized their treadmills at this location suck. They are very old and the screen and button are very not sensitive. It required me a few times of press/click which is not safe when running with high speed

The facilities are fine, definitely lower end than other Equinoxes which is a bummer since it’s the same price. Would recommend getting all access so you can utilize other locations. The yoga classes are consistently disappointing compared to other locations (and yoga studios in the area) as well.

Tällä ketjulla ei ole turistien mahdollista kuntoilla. Heiltä ei löytynyt mahdollisuutta ostaa yhden kerran käyntiä. Todella harmi juttu.

One of the more outdated clubs, it’s a mess. Ac issues in summer, heat issues in winter. When one Brooklyn club has no hot water (Williamsburg) it says try another…which has no heat ( BH)

we went there for an intro class. we left a sweater in the locker, and it was stolen..

at this price point you would expect to have lockers with digital locks, as we were only visiting we didnt know about this and wasnt offered a lock.

the overall gym looks tired and the class I tried was not engaging at all.

The coach had an injured leg so he wasnt able to show the moves, which would be ok but with so many different level of people in a class everyone was doing something different.

I went to visit other options in the area and think there are way better options at this price point.

Positive experience. I come for group classes and the instructors are great, I also like the range of modalities. Would love to not have to bring my own lock or have to borrow one but this is pretty minor. The AC worked well every time for me this summer, unlike the Dumbo location.

They put the chest machines on floor one, bench press on floor 2, and peck deck on floor 3. Serious gym goers, look somewhere else. It feels like my gym is making me do more cardio between machines than during my actual workout! It's like they're sneaking in a "leg day" with my chest routine by forcing me to walk stairs like I'm in a stairmaster race. Next thing I know, they'll be handing out Fitbits at the door and telling me my gains are in the steps.

I left Planet Fitness to come here and take my workouts more “seriously”, the price is serious alright, but the management not doing anything about the very poor conditions of this gym is an extreme shame! Summer time here is disgusting!! Get ready to be on the edge of passing out! I signed up in the Winter, ready to end this membership. Planet fitness has fans in all their machines and great AC AT LEAST!!! Why won’t they at least get some old standing fans for this location? Equinox has the nerve to open a hotel and can’t even master hospitality through its gym members. This brand has become nothing but a joke to your wallet!

While the gym’s appearance is quite impressive, I have encountered several issues that need addressing. Many of the machines with fans are broken and not functioning, and the A/C doesn’t work properly. Even during a heatwave, it felt like I was working out in a sauna. The lack of proper air conditioning makes it very uncomfortable and challenging to complete workouts.

Considering the amount of money I pay for a membership, I expect a comfortable and well-maintained environment. Unfortunately, it hasn’t felt that way lately. I hope these issues can be resolved soon so that the gym experience matches its visual appeal.

Beware of your safety at Equinox. While I was in the middle of a cardio workout, an internal chain in the machine I was using snapped. I was sent flying off the machine and injured myself. Equinox treated me like a liability and did little to convince me I could trust them or their equipment, so I chose to terminate my membership. There are other luxury gyms in the city that are better.

Great gym, great staff. It's always clean, the equipment is well taken care of and you feel safe.
My only gripe is that there should be less cardio machines and more leg workout equipment

★ 2

I have found this gym to be disappointing. I feel like I'm paying for luxury that I don't get.
I also feel that concerns raised to the staff are dismissed. I asked to share feedback with management recently about the locker room shower product switch (to Grown Alchemist) which introduced extremely strongly scented products to the locker room, which trigger migraines. The staff response was basically "no you're wrong, I like it." That's really terrible customer service, especially for $250/month - at least pretend to take a customer's concern seriously.
I regret joining this gym and am looking forward to switching to a different company in Brooklyn.
Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the location is convenient and I suppose I should say at least one nice thing.

I love the location and convenience of that. I enjoy the classes and the instructors are all amazing in attitude and professional in their knowledge & experience. They have all the machines and the 4 floor layout keeps people out of each other's hair. Thu this is probably the most basic of their facilities it's a good one

Few suggestions -
• HORRIBLE PLAYLIST have to use noise blocking headphones to drown the awful music at times.
• They only have flip-flops for spa appointments, while most of us use the showers and the steam room where we need those more. If someone slips and injures that a law suit waiting to happen.
•The lockers should have a digital lock or locks should be in the locker room twice I forgot to collect from the front desk and had to back track.
• They need to have signs to tell members not to monopolize the machines while browsing on their phones.

Love the new GROWN ALCHEMIST products that have replaced KEIHLS thu those were great too.

Price aside it’s quite a nice gym, a little old and spread across many floors but pretty solid.

Unfortunately when you add the Equinox price tag it is not worth the $300++ monthly price tag, especially for this single site.

3/5 for the people and decent gym. -2 for the out of touch price tag as a standalone gym. Even the other luxury gym in the area is closer to $150.

A laughably few number of squat racks and bench presses. 3/4 of the space is cardio equipment no one ever seems to be using. Most people here seem to be trying to lift. Good luck if you’re here for that.

And as others have said, in general, the experience just isn’t up to par with other clubs in the city.

Clean club. Nice upscale boutique style. For the price of membership, i wish that some of the members had more class. This is not the local YMCA. Update: getting crowded. But overall nice. Neighborhood feel. May want to bring flip flops for the shower area. Floor is wet and slippery. Two guts almost fell and hit their heads today. They should dobsomething about the tile floors on the shower area. Very slippery when wet.

The Pilates studio is soo small and cramped and the Pilates instructor Mary Dana Abbott is the rudest instructor I ever came across (and I’ve been doing Pilates for years) she doesn’t even give good instruction just walks around belittling everyone. Will not be taking her class again that’s not ok for equinox to hire disrespect people like her. I have destination membership so easily will not return to her class. On top of that, it’s an outdated gym you must bring your own lock and there’s barely any cell service.

I’ve been there a handful of times with my partner as his guest and I thought about joining mostly because it’s in a convenient location. However, when I sat down to talk with someone about prices, they gave me an extremely high monthly fee for just the one location.

As an educator, I asked for the teacher discount and it really wasn’t much of a difference. My partner gets the educator discount and he pays much less than what they were going to charge me.

The gym isn’t worth its price. You are essentially paying for the name. They are even lacking certain equipment that would be valuable to my workout sessions.

This happened only this location, Very disappointed the instructor named Caroline S. Me and other lady who booked ahead and arrived on time, she won’t let in because we weren’t 10min before? Or she let all the waiting list people in because she can’t take pressures of those people? We followed your rules so do the same lady! Its ridiculous that there’s no spots for people who actually booked ahead!! We pay almost $400 per month for this treatment? Do better management BK heights!

Definitely not at all worth the price. Its OLD and they've done nothing to update it. I''m fairly sure one of the fans in the classroom is moments away from propellering off into someone...and its been like that for months.
Should I really need to bring my own lock and fill my bottle with a spicket? I think their big update was a paint job. The equipment is old and the layout is discombobulated. Membership is worth maybe $100 here. Not tons of class options, training space is right in the way of everything, upstairs smells like male urine, people always talk on their phones in all sections, which I regularly have complained about but it doesn't change. There's no lounge space...nothing remotely luxurious. I had moved from Dumbo because I was bored there....this move has done nothing other than make me want to quit Equinox altogether.

Go for the convenience, but as compared to other Equinox gyms, is majorly lacking/overpriced for the value. There is broken equipment (which works when you rig it...) and overall less quality than other spots. Should not charge the same as other locations if not putting the same money and effort into it.

The Club is low budget, equipment is outdated which is wild to me considering all the money I’m paying monthly, they are very racist in this gym, they allowed my son to workout an join this same facility at the age of 15 , we had to cancel his membership, I brought my son back to join again they denied us because we were black under new management, when I tried to escalate the matter they terminated my all access gym membership, they will be hearing from my lawyers. This was a blessing in disguise we end up joining “Life Time” they are way bigger, multiple floors, basketball court, swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, aqua therapy, you name it they have it restaurant multiple bars in the facility open later close later same price and they are not racist ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️.

This club is amazing! From the front desk to the trainers, David and Haley and to the sales desk and the Spa area, front desk was the kindest. These guys are absolutely pros! I felt so welcomed and part of a family. Thank you so much for making me feel special and that I matter. Can’t wait to start my journey with my trainer on August 1st💚 Excellent club and wonderful staff members. They sure know how to make you feel welcomed. From the front desk manager named Phil who was fantastic from the first email. I emailed and his response time was lighting fast. He answered all my questions and told me to ask for him when I get in that he would gladly show me around. The gym is spotless, equipped with equipment that looks brand new. The sales team is great and the personal trainer is excellent. Highly recommend David! They have a juice bar on the first floor and the club has 4 floors. It’s a walk up, for those who are curious not sure if they have elevators but glad to use the stairs. They offer complimentary alkaline water at the front desk. They also have complimentary locks for your locker. You can trade in your drivers license in exchange for the lock and you can return the key and receive you if back. Sharon at the front desk is the sweetest. Overall you feel so welcomed and treated like royalty. I 💯 precent recommend this location. There is outdoor metered and non-metered parking. Keep optimistic and I am sure you will get a parking spot. Congratulations 🎊 if this review helped you take the plunge and cheers to rest of 2022! You got this💪😎

A wonderful place to take classes and work out. During the pandemic, the only place I feel safe as their management and maintenance is superb and reliable.

Everyone including managers and staff are professional, friendly and always helpful-- thanks everyone for such wonderful work!

Was a member here until this week, spent a bunch of money on things like PT etc and made some good friends with the training staff. But the level of service from the corporate / management of the gym itself after a few years has totally thrown me off staying at this gym. Constantly being nickel and dimed by their sales team and even General Manager: Alex Daniels shows zero respect for their long standing members. It's suppose to be a premium gym but you get treated like meat. Avoid.

Potential members, beware:

If you reach this Equinox by phone and an employee says "come on by to try out the gym whenever you want"....the gym won't honor that...unless the SAME PERSON is working at the counter when you show up for the trial.

How would you know that person's schedule?

Asking politely to speak with the manager doesn't help. Avoid.

My husband and I visit this club more than the one's near our work. I've been going for a few years now and love that I can take a class and leave my toddler in the Kid's Club. The 2 hours maximum is just enough time to take an hour yoga class and shower. I feel comfortable at this club unlike some of the others in the city, they don't have the same "home" vibe that Brooklyn Heights have. The young lady who works in the Kids Club during the week, Dana, is very helpful with my toddler who can be a bit of a handful. I think as a parent we all want to feel that our kids are in good hand's and that's how I feel with her.

Of all the locations - this is the worst in terms of trainers think they rule the gym. They pretty much take half the space for their clients - or they work out and take up multiple machines for themselves. They also take up the bigger lockers for themselves. Wow. I called to see about a few spa products that I was hoping they carried so I could stop by and pick them up today.First off, the person picked up the phone and then hung up on me. When I called back, a man name Javier answered the phone and sounded very unpleasant as if I annoyed him by calling the club. I asked to speak with someone from the spa and he replied "hold up"...and placed me on hold where the phone rang until he then answered again. I told him that I must have gotten transferred back to him, so I asked if anyone from the spa would be available today so that I can just stop by. He snapped back with a much attitude, "well what is it you're trying to accomplish?!!" What a douche! I understand having a bad day but for the caliber of this establishment, I expected more of a professional phone etiquette. I'm not one to write "reviews" but I wrote this in hopes the management there reads this and makes some improvements with their front desk and how they answer the phone. Perhaps the front desk might be "too much" for this guy, Javier, maybe he should be working in maintenance where he doesn't have to interact with members as much...or maybe he just isn't cut out for CUSTOMER SERVICE. Meh. After visiting the Chelsea location, I'm not sure how this one earned its Equinox badge. The amenities are there, but the whole place feels kinda low budget. Maybe it's the fluorescent lighting. Maybe it's the tiny shower stalls, lacking those swanky wooden mats. Either way, I'll gladly deal with the extra 20 minutes of travel to get to the posh fitness spa nestled under the highline.
