Does equinox even care anymore? Honest question. They used to be a luxury gym

I’m giving this place 2 stars for the downstairs area. It’s a big turf field with good equipment and Olympic lifting spots. Otherwise this place is bleak.

WiFi rarely works correctly. I have to re-enter my membership ALL the time.

The staff are rude. I’m constantly told which shower I’m allowed to enter

It’s often out of towels. Or dirty. Or something is wrong.

Great gym and great crowd.

It’s not perfect but it’s very good. You can go almost anytime and do a full workout without waiting for equipment which is nice. It’s clean, and with a decent crowd compared to other equinox locations.

They offer a wide range of amazing classes, with great instructors as well. My.biggest issue would be the equipment itself is a bit outdated, and missing some of my preferred machines, that and the current shampoos/conditioners are really terrible and nothing like what they used to have.

This is not a serious gym. They have a nice area to work out downstairs with plenty of squat racks, but they don’t allow you to use them when there’s a class. There’s literally one other squat racks in the entire gym. It’s a useless gym if you’re trying to do lower body exercises. I’m so disappointed with equinox I’ve gladly canceled my membership and I’m joining Chelsea piers. I suggest others follow.

I love 43rd E; surely one of the top locations in terms of layout, cleanliness, and it doesn’t get packed or wait to shower.
Cleaning ladies and the front desk are always welcoming, which isn’t the case in all locations.

I mean for what you’re paying you’d think it’d be in better shape. A windowless basement. The men’s steam room almost never works. There’s maybe 2 or 3 lifting benches.

Came here once and hated it. On the surface it looks nice but the technical aspects of the gym are a joke. Find me the person who approved your water dispensers so i can kindly rearrange their face. What kind of idiot puts me in a situation where i need to hold a large water canister up to a barely functional water dispenser for only drinking from your mouth? The dispenser in the locker room is awful and the ones on the floor have such low water pressure that it took me an entire 1.5 minutes just to refill the water bottle. It shouldn’t take me more than 15 seconds to refill a water bottle. Especially when i have to do it 5-10 times per visit. Make it make sense.

I adore this location!! It is smaller but very well equipped. I am always blown away by how clean the floors are because in some other locations the floors aren’t as clean. It’s quiet enough and in all the times I’ve been there, it was not overly crowded. There’s a comfortable number of people who work out even when it’s at its busiest, I.e. you generally do not need to wait to use another equipment. Also, all the staff and trainers are so sweet and friendly! I dare to say it’s the best location ever and now labeled as my favorite gym.

Based on the Google photos I had seen I was not expecting this location to be nice. To my surprise though the Equinox at 43rd St. is super clean, the equipments are quite new and there’s barely anyone working out there. Bonus points for having a turf, a sled and that whole functional training area (they call it “the playground”).

Only giving 4 stars because they don’t have a calf raise machine, nor an weighted abs/core machine either.

Not a bad equinox location if you’re only into machines. Sadly it doesn’t work for me, they don’t have a separate studio for yoga and cardio classes. Very disappointed that you have to lay the matt yourself on a floor that is not clean and people walk around with shoes on.

I have not been to this gym for 4 years nor live in the area. They have the audacity to continuously call me although I have told them many times through email and phone that I am not interested. I have asked at least 6 times to be removed from the list yet they keep contacting me. Join this gym if you want to be constantly harassed.

I will say that the people who work here are friendly, especially Angel. The downstairs is a nice spot to get in a workout. HOWEVER, their SALES TEAM SUCKS. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!

Been a member off and on for a few years (depending on availability) and this location has been consistently clean and had great staff. I'm very glad to have rejoined this last month as it's well maintained. Started training with Raheem having originally rejoined thinking I'd just use it to supplement my personal workouts in the AM, but after meeting Raheem and chatting through my goals, I decided to give him a shot. Couldn't be happier (or sorer) after my first session. If you've been thinking of getting a quality gym membership, I do recommend checking this place out.

Great and helpful staff. The place is kept clean constantly. When things break (as they all do) they are fixed relatively quickly. Not too crowded. I enjoy working out here every time.

Not the best club in the chain. Subterranean, small, with a limited selection of equipment. You're better off ot nearby Bryant Park, Graybar or Rock Center

A bit small but honestly one of my favorite equinox locations. It’s super clean and there isn’t as much crowding because of where it is. I haven’t been during peak hours so this could be a bit skewed perception wise. My only complaint is that this location is only open during the work week and not on weekends.

Recently signed up and I can say this is the best gym experience I’ve ever got so far.
Staffs are very helpful and especially Adolfo, he’s amazing. Gym itself feels welcomed. Not as crowded as other gyms, which made it easier to work out without feeling of being clustered.

I LOVE this gym. This is my first equinox experience & this location is convenient for me as I work around the corner. It is so clean. The classes are great too. I always use the steam room & showers after working out and it feels like a spa experience. Can’t say enough about this gym. Obsessed.

Definitely one of the older locations but it is generally less busy than the flashier locations... Also, the "playground" area on the lower level is pretty neat.

The gym is located pretty much in the basement of the building so there are no windows to the outside world but it's a good gym for those working nearby. I think most of us here are probably on some corporate membership discount which helps with the cost. Note that this location is NOT open on the weekends. Overall, I don't really have any complaints. You get what you pay for.
