Upscale gym, neighborhood oriented so there isn’t too much traffic + some of the best amenities. Only con is the removal of meditation classes but even then it’s still a 10/10

I love this gym! Friendly staff!! The only complaint I have is that some rude ppl like leaving towels and their sheet masks laying in the steam room floor. This isn’t your house-clean up after yourself. The cleaning staff is highly efficient-the people are the problem. Maybe send out an email reminding guests to be mindful and clean after themselves. The cleaning staff isn’t there for abuse. Love love love it here though.

Equinox Great Neck is in desperate need of a deep clean and a reality check. You walk in expecting eucalyptus, but you’re hit with body odor and disappointment. The locker rooms are filthy—hair everywhere, never truly clean, and far from luxury. Yoga mats smell like feet, the steam room is broken half the time, and even the “clean” towels come with bonus hair.

The only saving grace? The people. Damian, Lindsey, Sam Harris, Sam Gerson, Natasha, Elva, and Diana bring real energy, professionalism, and care to every class. They show up, hold space, and actually make the experience feel worth it—even when the environment doesn’t. John, in membership sales, is consistently welcoming, professional, and full of positive energy. He brings a level of care and presence that reflects what the Equinox experience should feel like.

I’m not sure why people are posting negative reviews about this gym. The staff is nice and courteous, and they have new machines. Bella from Sales is very helpful and informative. The only thing I wish is that they would add the 120- and 130-pound dumbbells for people interested in bulking.

It's a great gym! Most of the one-star reviews seem to have an agenda unrelated to the gym itself. The trainers and classes are top-notch, led by real athletes who clearly enjoy their work. Members are genuinely fitness-focused—either very fit or trying and committed to getting there. It’s a happy place with great energy, and I’m sure others love it as much as I do. While there were minor issues with parking and towels six months ago, management has addressed them effectively. Overall, a fantastic gym experience!

Would give zero stars if I could. The staff here is poorly trained and the manager backs up their disgusting behavior. A staff member at Equinox hit my friend's stopped car while trying to squeeze past in the lot, scratching it, then just drove off without a second thought. When my friend tried to report it, they had the audacity to blame her, even though the car was completely stopped the whole time. It’s infuriating to watch them manipulate her, refuse to take responsibility, and offer no apology. It’s heartbreaking to see my friend treated this way, especially from a place that claims to offer luxury service.

EMPLOYEE HIT MY MOM’S CAR AND RAN!

A staff member at Equinox hit my mom’s car WHILE SHE WAS STOPPED trying to squeeze past her through the lot. She scratched the car and then drove off after blaming my mom for not paying attention. The employee came back to further accuse me when my mom tried to report it to the manager. Refusing to show security footage the manager did not do anything to mitigate this situation at all, except for side with the employee. I’m furious at how the Equinox staff tried to manipulate my mom, blaming her for the damage when her car was fully stopped and the employee hit her car. No apology was given. It’s heartbreaking and infuriating to see my mom treated this way when equinox markets themselves as a luxury gym with top quality service.

Equinox seems to be canceling memberships of those with opposing political views. Personally, I am so tired of everything being politicized. We live in a constitutional republic where people should be free to report creepy old men, making young girls in the gym, feel uncomfortable. Instead of that creepy judge getting in trouble for his inappropriate behavior toward the young girls, the person reporting him and actually trying to protect the girls, got ousted. Permanently banned from the great neck location as well as any other Equinox location, by an incompetent, politically motivated manager, who is more interested in protecting the offender, not the victim. Wildly different experience than the locations in NYC or other major cities. I would not consider this location a luxury gym.

I’ve been here 10+ times across weekdays, weekends, various times of day. The locker rooms are perpetually filthy and unmaintained. The main room is small and crowded. They only have four benches. The clientele is entitled. They’ll hog the machines and spend half their time chatting, then after half an hour leave the weights unracked. You also have to bring your own lock. Every other location has built in locks.

Been coming 5 days/week for last 6 months. The whole place is kept very neat and is constantly being cleaned and restocked by friendly and hard working cleaning personnel. I find the locker room in particular very well looked after, clean and pleasant. Also very friendly and welcoming staff at the front desk. There are many good things to say about this location: it has all the machines you need and they are high quality; having access to an indoor pool near NYC is huge. Cant speak to the crowdedness because I usually come right around when they open and then the space is quite empty. The only thing I wish was different was that the upstairs therapy areas were repurposed into more ‘public’ floor space for stretching and mobility work: there are only 5 spots for stretching for the whole club downstairs as the main studio and yoga studio are very well booked with classes especially in the morning. But still, I love coming here every morning and this location gives you a positive, luxurious environment for your personal exercise and fitness. Big shout out to everyone who works here!

I had an Equifit Assessment scheduled and ended up leaving after waiting for a long period of time. The front desk acted like I was not even there. I was not informed if my trainer was running late or if something happened. Nothing. Very unprofessional.

i was a member for more than 12 years the place has gone down hill since then the management does not care and does not understand customer service. their only priority is to sell memberships. there is no parking if you come certain times in the day. the classes get full and you are out of luck if you don't register. the workout area is constantly filled and you ahve to wait for equipment to open up.
if you sign up for personal training be careful they may take advantage of you my suggestion is to join a smaller gym till further notice. they are not what they represent themselves to be. Buyer be aware

The only thing luxurious about this place is probably the Kiehls products. Place is small, and there are not that many amenities due to the size. Old-style locker rooms where you have to bring your lock. If you want a luxury gym experience with state-of-the-art machines and more service, you are better off joining Life Time instead of Equinox.

This location is absolutely amazing. Great work out space, lots of equipment, lots of classes, awesome swimming pool, nice sauna and super clean bathroom/ shower area.
Every staff member is very friendly and helpful but definitely need to give a shout to Kevin at the front desk. He is super welcoming, always says hello with a big smile and remembers your name. And the other person is Jesse Benson, the membership advisor. Very professional, very motivating and always ready to help with all my questions.
I think this location definitely represents the brand in the best possible way.

All this gym cares about is how they can get more members and more of your money . Quality of classes and access is not even a consideraton and they have addmitted it. They caim "that would be bad business" to turm members down. They do a great job at recruiting members and once they have you here you are not important. Upon conversations that I have approached the managers with possibly limiting thier members since this small gym can not accomodate the members they keep accepting they say they take as many as come whether that can fit them in or not. For the thousands of members that they have they have a floor mat that is big enough to accomodate about 5 people. As far as benches go again for thieir thousand of members they have 4! The classes fill up very quickly as you can imagine since the member volume is so high. And the icing is that they rent space again to outside vendors like physical therpy and pilates for EVEN MORE INCOME. EQUINOX YOU SHOULD DO BETTER!!!!!

I called Equinox this afternoon and I asked what time the pool closes. I was told 5:30pm. I arrived at the gym at 4:30pm, and the pool was already closed. This is a relatively common occurrence. Aside from the frequent confusion about the pool hours, the gym is quite nice and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

I have been member of few Equinox gyms in Manhattan over the years but Great Neck location is my favorite. Staff is amazing, always make me feel welcome and everyone is super helpful. Jesse, membership advisor always answers all my questions promptly and guides me through all the services. This location is so happy to have Jesse.

Beautiful club but hours are not good - closes way to early. Why 6 pm on Saturday and 5 on Sunday? And 8/9 PM during the week. Impossible to go after work which leaves weekends. I play tennis during the day and enjoy going to a club at night (and not being rushed to work-out and shower). After dinner/evening is such a good time of night bc not as crowded or as hard to park. Please stay open later, especially on Saturdays and Sundays!

BEST GYM AROUND!!!! Best gym I've been to. Please is spotlessly clean, well maintained, quiet, friendly, not crowded at all, the entire staff is so friendly and welcoming, weights are always racked nicely and not lying all over the place like UFC and other gyms, manager is a hottie with a beautiful dog, everybody is so pleasant to interact with, people alwys greet you with open arms at the door, showers have better soaps than my own house, and the pool is clean and open for all. Members are also police and keep their masks on. Best gym hands down

I’ve been going to this location 4 days a week for the last 10 months and I love the people and the location, but it is poorly managed.

What’s going well: they have a great team managing the parking situation, the cleaning staff are saints, and the desk staff are always awesome.

What sucks: it’s falling apart and no one cares or can even take a moment to put a sign up saying that they are working on it.
- the leaking ceiling in the women’s locker room has been an issue for months
- broken equipment with no signage acknowledging the issue.. ALL. THE. TIME.
- 6 of the 10 televisions in the main gym area were broken for weeks with no acknowledgement
- sometimes the televisions don’t work at all on random occasions, as if they didn’t pay the cable bill

I love the gym and the people, but for the prices we pay it’s absurd. The second a better option pops up in the vicinity I’m out!

Gym has gone downhill. I joined the gym 13 years ago. Was impeccable, tip top shape with helpful staff.
Now restrooms are always disgusting, dirty broken plumbing yet there’s always available cleaning crew vacuuming machines while Members are on them. The juice press they allow to rent there is a disgrace for the gym. Never restock inventory and way too expensive for what it is. Salad bar they had before had more options, was always busy and very affordable. Bad move on equinox’s part. Broken machines that take months to fix.
Only great thing about the gym...Trainers and front desk staff always helpful with smiles. That’s about it. Fees are not justified here. Clientele sucks too!
Also, hours are rediculious. Specifically weekends and holidays. Most Other gyms have more accommodating hours that cater to people with busy schedules.
