Used to be a great place. Then an entire floor of the gym closed (where I spent 80% of my time). Supposedly “under construction” but no evidence of construction taking place and it’s been closed for months. As a result they don’t even have a squat rack or bench press available and it’s harder to find open equipment. Also has become a scavenger hunt to find some things (such as the foam rollers). Sometimes I find the weight I’m looking for being used as a doorstop.

So I joined last month. When I did the steam room was broken. It works now. They also charged me 50 dollars and then another 50 as well as the 25 all in one week. I was only supposed to get the 25 dollar monthly fee. Their 5th floor, which is the weight room, is closed. It says for construction but there have been non workers in there since it closed so Who knows why. The pulley gym is out of order. On top of that i am usually the only one in the pool, which is cool but I went to go swimming and the lifeguard decided he needed to go on break right at that moment. Just me in the pool. He couldnt have waited the 15 min for me to do my 10 laps. Doing nothing all day for 10 hours and he waits for the ONE person to come in to go on break. Now, since the weight room is closed it's tough to get ANY sets in on the ONE weight bench, just to many people there. Lastly, and u get this in a lot of gyms I know, there are TONS of posers who will come in and sit on a machine, doing nothing, and just be on their phones with their earbuds in. Lots of teenagers and pre teens screwing around and none of the employees take any action. Maybe that wasn't lastly, okay, one more thing. They used to have two heavy bags set up. One broke about 2 weeks ago and they haven't replaced it. So, again, you get these tools with no gloves pretending to punch the one bag there because...well idk why they do it. But it's dumb. All in all, not worth it. Maybe a different location that has more than half the gym available would be better. Idk.

Nice gym but the ellipticals would stop working in the middle of a workout there's a lot of outdated equipment in there that needs to be updated otherwise it's a nice place come on spend money on the Buffalo location put newer Fitness equipment in there Esporta Fitness fix the machines in the Amherst location as well the chest press machine has been broken for 3/4 months now.

Update: in the process of canceling my membership. The club has gone downhill. It’s always dirty, never see anyone cleaning, never any tissue in the bathroom, but what most solidified my decision was I signed up for group personal training class at $50. When I signed up it was a new thing they were offering, however, I expected they follow through with the services. First class I schedule and sign up for on the app, I get to the club ask about where the classes are held, everybody (meaning the esporta staff ) looks at me like they don’t know what I’m talking about. This happened not only at the downtown location, but Amherst and Cheektowaga locations. Then each time I met with a club manager all they did was try to get me to upgrade to a personal training contract that was not within my budget. I filed a complaint with corporate and all they did was forward my complaint to the local club which called me and apologized, set me up with an initial session with a personal trainer that was late, just took my measurements then said, “oh, weren’t working out today.,.” Sir, that’s what I came for…waste of time. Filling a complaint with the U.S department of consumer services.

Good gym with nice selection of equipment to workout on as well as machines. Because of its location it never gets busy, definitely a little spike in attendance around 5 and 6 but you will not be waiting around for a machine or something. Only negatives are that the sauna isn't working, only the steam room and it's a lot of stairs. Would recommend to others.

Worst LA fitness ever. Sauna caught on fire in AUGUST and they still haven’t replaced it. Pool is closed half the time, and when it is open the hours are terrible. Hell even some of the water fountains don’t work. This is just the major stuff, additionally the whole gym itself looks like they haven’t put any money into it in years. You know that scene in Rocky 3 where Clubber Lang is training in a dungeon, well if that’s your scene then this gym is for you.

The gym itself is good but it's a HUGE problem to cancel. In order to cancel you have you have to mail the letter or go in person to speak to a MANAGER. REMIND you, your account is frozen meaning you STILL have to Pay $10 a month if you don't do anything about it!!! I have mail 3 times and no changes, when I called they told me to come in, in person . What a huge problem to cancel i like the membership but just going through this made me see that there's no coming back 🙅‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Facility showing its age. Pool steam sauna top notch. Management freely admits they will replace existing equipment but will not add new equipment. I requested a piece of equipment that is at other LA fitness locations and was told no. The piece was a ladder you throw on the floor to do agility drills. Probably a $20 piece.

This is probably the worst gym I have ever been to. LA Fitness is a massive corporation and somewhere along their great expansion someone let this abomination happen. The free weight selection is terrible, there is no bench or squat rack, and the entire place looks like it was inspired by the movie "The Road". If you told me that the membership was actually free and that the only catch is that the large empty room that they try to pass off as a strength training area actually doubles up as a local cult meeting area, it would all make sense. But instead they try to pitch $99 down for $29 a month so that you at least have the ability to go to another LA Fitness that justifies the expensive cost/doesn't need to be condemned. If you want to join LA Fitness, by all means go for it! But this is the exception to the rule that they are a premium gym experience.

Beautiful inside and out.
LA isn't one of those gyms where they chop the price by skipping out on amenities. You're going to pay a little bit more than the contenders (I pay 24.99) but you get a facility that's huge, you can go to any class at any location, they have water fountains and a smoothie bar.
There's a pool with a lifeguard, and all of the machines are well maintained.
The staff is friendly, organized and approachable.

While I have visited many of their locations and have had an enjoyable time at all, this is my home gym due to location, parking availability etc.

I have never seen a location uncomfortably full, even during the nightmare gym months: January and April.
