Went to the gym for the summer no issues. My summer membership expired and was informed either sign up for a year at $39.99 a month or go monthly no contract for $69.99. When I signed up I was told after the summer monthly it would be $54.99. When I tried to ask questions about the pricing to understand the manager Victoria was super rude and argumentative. It was very much a take it or leave ultimatum. Everytime I asked a question I was cutoff. I literally said I’m just confused and want to clarify and was still told take it or leave these are the options that’s it. Was told I must’ve spoken to a new girl and they’re new they don’t know what they’re doing. Well looks like you’re a great manager then lol. When I called to speak to the owner Frank to get better clarification and see about options he told me “it’s not his job that’s why he has a front desk. Whatever they tell you is right.” When I tried to ask him questions he continued to cut me off and talk louder and louder over me. He’d even ask me a question I’d start to answer and he’s just cut me off and talk over me. Lol some owner he is. Also No wonder the gym anymore only has single digit members there. They offer 0 classes or amenities. Minimal equipment. No trainers. Only staff is 1 front desk person watching tv. All other gyms in the area: LA fitness, Crunch, Onyx offer way more and are cheaper. I literally have come to this gym 5 times a week and seen more than 12 people in the gym once. Based on the ownership and managements attitude it makes sense they haven’t grown. Hopefully a real gym brand takes them over after they go out of business. Frank will be the clown doing tricks outside

Got a note requesting my vaccination paper. For a private business to request this is an immediate violation of hipaa laws. Trying to get a couple of other members together to file a class action lawsuit. Email me if you want in.

Edit: Soooo… you sent a text requiring proof of vax. I see we agree. And yes it is a violation of hippa laws. Dont blame it on other businesses.
Now im filing a better business bureau complaint.

This gym is very CLEEEEEAN. Staff members are very friendly and welcoming. There’s disinfectant spray bottles plus paper towels to wipe down equipment and machines. They have hand sanitizing dispensers to keep you covid-free. Paid a great price as a returning member. This gym is a lot better than the last gym I went to (not going to mention which gym it is). I’m highly satisfied with their service and their warm welcome back!

Terrible experience. Prices have increased without informing clients during the pandemic. High prices for a gym. Multiple options for membership policies / discounts make it very confusing requiring a supervisor/manager to frequently intervene. Manager frequently not available during the day.

SKEEVY BUSINESS ALERT!

I was a member at World Gym before they took it over. World Gym shut down during COVID. Evolve Health & Fitness took over. They:

1) Never informed me via phone call, email, or phsyical mail that the gym had transferred ownership
2) Never informed me via phone call, email, or phsyical mail that they were reopening
3) Never informed me via phone call, email, or phsyical mail that my membership rates were changing

When cancelling my membership and tried to debate the charges they said that knowing my email address is proof they emailed me despite the fact that I NEVER received any communication.

Thankfully my bank was able to reverse the charges.

I'll give 1.5 stars though. When I went to world gym the facility was pretty nice and I assume it's stayed largely the same, except it's all green/yellow now.

I've been trying to cancel my membership for weeks now and in this time I've made numerous phone calls and had way more conversations than I needed to in order to get this done. I was told that in April I received an email explaining that monthly charges were going to increase starting September, which I never got, I and have just gotten charged $54 even though I cancelled two weeks ago because they have a 30 day cancellation notice. When I signed my contract the price was $30 a month, so I was certainly surprised when I saw that charge. If I would've seen this email in April I would've canceled months ago, but since the coronavirus hit, I was naive enough to think that they wouldn't start charging people again. So whether or not this email was sent, the communication is poor, and the cancellation process is cumbersome, and while I may not have been been lied to, it feels like every step was taken to screw me. If I can save just one person all the hassle I went through, I'd be happy

Decent gym. Clean and never too crowded. However, some of the barbell bars need to be replaced. They are rusty and some are broken. Their pulley accessories need more variety.

I absolutely love this the Gold Gym in East Meadow. It is clean, and the members there are nice.
Frank at the Gym is such a great person and very active in the community. He is always giving back his time and talents to the community whether it is in Kiwanis or as President of the East meadow Chamber of Commerce.

I've had several disappointing running with this place, unfortunately I've payed for the year trying to save some money, counting down the days until my membership expires so that I'm not hit with their cancellation fees. First I went through and almost 6 month bout with them to trying and get $75 refunded for a payment on a training session I never took.

Their website is NEVER updated and since I don't have facebook i can't comment on that. Unless you decide to call, good luck getting any information of anything that is going on in the gym. Save your money, don't come here.

I'm a graduating college student and I was home for a break. I called to see if they offer a day pass so I could try the gym and see if I want a membership when I'm home for good. As soon as I told the man on the phone the situation, he immediately accuses me of just wanting to use the gym for free. Was completely rude to me and definitely lost me as a customer. Not surprised by the bad reviews.

Coming from big als family fitness I knew I made the right choice to move here. Great equipment, friendly staff and I have old big als friends that work out with me and are always there to help me out! Frank is a stand up guy! Courtney and all the others are top notch and friendly! Can't ask for a better value for people's busy lives. World gym is "no-nonsense" and no frills. It's a gym, not a hotel like the other gyms on the market now!

For my own personal experience, I have found the staff to be friendly as well as the owner. I've been a member for I think two years or so and don't recall having an unpleasant experience. For the price I'm paying per month, it's actually pretty affordable compared to some of the other gyms I've been to in the past. All the equipment is kept in shape, there is diversity with the equipment and I've made some acquaintances along the way. The locker rooms and showers are clean, it's 10 minutes from my house and I happen to like this gym. If and when I ever have to quit, I'm hoping I don't have to go through the issues that other people have gone through who posted reviews before me.

worst people to deal with. I had a sudden medical problem. I was told i needed a doctors note to cancel my membership. No problem, the next day i went into the gym with a note signed by my doctor. They told me that they will stop charging me for my personal training sessions but i would still be charged for my monthly membership and in a couple of months i will get a full refund. well....... it's been a year. i have called Courtney a million times, left hundreds of messages, and STILL no refund. i am so FED up with this place. It's a shame that i might have to take legal action.

They are Con artist thieves. Read your contract read your contract. They somehow keep charging your card after u cancel. Thieves. Con artists w procedures in place to screw u every way. After u cancel your one year contract yes one year u are still getting charge!!!!!! And when they force you to come in which is Bulls hit to cancel your contact they do it on scrap paper. Con artist thieves. Check your contract there is probably a class action suite against them because they make all there money on people who don't check there cards they gave them to pay. Why do u think they can survive on 30 bucks a month because 90 percent of people don't realize there being charged and when they do they have to go to every length outside of an attorney to get there money back. They are thieves con artists. Forget the gym. The are somehow legally screwing every one of you. Check ure contact check ure account and cancel your cards

This gym is alright. I read all these reviews before i went to check it out. I thought the place would be a garbage dump. Its a very nice gym. Walk in, BOOM, theres a freakin waterfall. Its not dirty. I thought i was in the wrong place at first. But anyway, its way better than anything you'd get at Planet Fitness. They have plenty of free weights, and machines. The only thing i don't like is the price. I'm broke...

Wow, can't believe so many other people had the same experience as me.

The owner/manager, Larry, was definitely one of the worst experiences I've ever had in the fitness industry. I used to work at LA Fitness as a training manager and have never seen someone act so rude to a potential new member.

I called the gym and asked the girl who answered if they offer passes to try the gym. Without answering my question, she immediately asked me for my name and contact info. After that she told me to hold. A man answered and before I could ask a question he told me he'd call me back in two minutes. I quickly interjected and asked if they offer day passes and he told me yes, so I said I'd be over in a few minutes.

When I got to the gym, the females working the front desk were nice enough but they handed me over to the man who answered the phone, I guess the owner or manager. He greeted me with, "Watcha wanna do?". Not "Hi,", not "How are you" or an introduction but literally "Watcha wanna do." He led me into his office and asked me what I wanted in a gym and then went off about how his gym is cleaner, and I'll never wait for equipment etc etc and all these nonsensical sales claims. After 10 minutes of sitting in his office, nodding my head quietly as he rambled on, he let me try the gym for a workout for free after taking my ID card as collateral.

I can't even comment on the gym itself because I was so annoyed by the rude owner. Like Sparta fitness in Westbury, I got the feeling that they didn't want me to even be there. Well, wish granted.

I have to say after reading these negative reviews I am shocked! This gym happens to be one of the best fitness centers I have ever attended. Clean, open and never ever packed! As for the owners, they happen to be very kind and personable and the front desk staff always greats you with a warm smile and hello. I am moving to Queens and wish I could find a gym like this out there.

The worth people I have dealt with in my life. Staff is not welcoming at all. You always feel that you are in unfriendly place with no help at all. Beware of hidden charges. They made me pay 2 months extra plus 99 dollars for cancellation though it was cleared initially that I shouldn’t be paying that money. They have fees for everything with below average quality of equipments and cleanliness. I won’t even think of recommending to anyone. The owner is the most rude person has no manners or understanding.
