I have been practicing Martial Arts for a very long time. I know a good school when I see one. Sensei Aric Keyes is one of the best Martial Arts Instructors I have ever known. His patience, eye for detail, and martial knowledge is truly remarkable.
I currently take Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes at Kime Karate M/W/F at 7PM. There is a strong friendly atmosphere at Kime Karate and the instructors and students are all there to help you make improvements, not to compete with you.
It is a very welcoming school, with excellent instruction and a positive atmosphere. I learn something new every class and have a great time getting in the best shape of my life.
I recommend Kime Karate and Sensei Aric Keyes without reservation. Check it out and come see for yourself.
Edit - six years later, this is still one of the best martial arts schools in the area. Go check it out for yourself.

Kime Karate is a great place for kids to learn. They provide a fun and supportive atmosphere that really allows kids of all ages to strive and achieve. The teachers are fantastic, full of great advice, and always focused on learning not only karate but also skills for life -- discipline, self-control, focus, setting goals and more. Like a lot of the parents there, it was so much fun to watch that I've started taking classes myself, and I can't believe I waited so long. Going to class is also a valued part of my week as well, a chance to exercise both body and mind. Aric Keyes and all the staff there are the best!

This karate school has helped boost our son's confidence. Our son was having trouble focusing in school and else where. After under six months his teachers, our friends, and us have noticed a positive change in focusing.

Kime Karate studio has really helped my son become a better version of himself. He is excited to go each week, is showing more self-confidence, and his overall level of respect has improved. The classes are fun and engaging, yet teach structure, respect, and self-discipline. I am so grateful for the experience my son is getting.

I have been training on and off for almost 20 years. I have never met an instructor more passionate or skilled than Sensei Aric Keyes. The past few years I have been looking for a dojo to call home, after one class at Kime Karate I knew I had found it.

I have been attending Kime Karate for a few weeks now, and everything has been amazing. I am taking Jujitsu classes and not only is the instructor/owner a great mentor, but the students in the class are friendly, will assist in any way they can, and provide advice from their own knowledge. It is a great environment, and I can see myself going for a long time to come.

When I first joined Kime Karate. I was worried I would be too far behind the other students, and that I would be unable to keep up. This was coming from a 14 year old! Soon after I joined however, I felt welcome and I still enjoy the friendly atmosphere that Sensei Keyes creates. I really feel that when students are treated as more than students, then the real learning happens! The community of Kime Karate is a really special gift to all who attend the studio.
Please join us for a class, I am sure you won't regret it!

Great place to learn no matter your age. Sensei is knowledgeable in multiple areas and has the ability to teach. He is patient and encouraging with the kids, teaching them not only martial arts, but also applicable life skills. Sensei involves the parents for the younger kids and teaches elements of independence for the older kids. He also works with the adults directly, ensuring the entire class understands and can do the technique being taught. He enjoys it, clearly has fun and wants the entire class to do the same.

My grandchildren have been students at Kime Karate for 2 years, and love it! The lessons they learn go beyond just karate - they are learning respect and perseverance as well. Sensei Keyes is a patient teacher and I appreciate how he knows when to step back and let the students help each other. My grandchildren look forward to attending lessons week - the schedule at Kime makes it easy to attend 1 or several classes.

Both of my daughters attend Kime Karate and I am very pleased with the program. Sensei Aric Keyes is a talented instructor. I appreciate that he is always on the floor working with the students, rather than huddled in the business office as is the case at some other dojos. The atmosphere at Kime Karate revolves around respect and, in addition to boosting physical fitness and self-defense skills, children and adults evolve into better people through their participation here. If you have been looking for a dojo in Monroe County, you owe it to yourself to talk to Sensei Aric Keyes. We checked out many local dojos, but choose to drive 45 minutes round-trip multiple times a week so our kids can attend Kime Karate. We hope to see you there!

My daughter has been taking lessons at Kime Karate for almost 2 years now. The program has really helped with her focus! Sensei Keyes' approach makes the classes fun, but the kids are learning the whole time. The children's classes are truly kid-centric & really help the students to grow. At the same time, they offer many different programs for different ages & abilities, so our daughter can continue to pursue karate at Kime for as long as she wants. The structure of the program helps kids learn to make & achieve their own goals; with several promotion cycles throughout the year, the students learn how to work towards their next belt & take pride in their efforts, and they are always so excited to earn their promotions & see where those efforts have taken them. This approach has worked well for my daughter, and I see a difference in her focus in class AND outside of class also.

I started training at Kime-Karate about a year ago with my wife doing Kickboxing and we both really enjoyed the class. Since then I've also signed up for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class and I've been taking Martial Fit. Sensei Keyes and the rest of the staff are extremely patient, knowledgeable and experienced and have put together an impressive collection of fitness and martial arts programs. The kickboxing class is significantly more intense than I had anticipated and incorporates a lot of different techniques than just learning to kickbox. There is a lot of focus on form but also in doing different exercises to work the various muscle groups you use to strike with while putting an emphasis on cardio. If you stick with this class with the intent of losing weight I don't see how you couldn't succeed. Overall it's an excellent class for fitness, stress relief, and to just have a good time. The Martial Fit class is perfect for working on toning and/or building muscles and strengthening your core. I've done similar workouts from P90X and Turbofire and I've found that Martial Fit does a better job of challenging my core muscles while still remaining flexible enough in intensity to allow those just starting to get into fitness to make it through a class. Sensei Keyes is very creative with the different workout moves he comes up with so you will never have to worry about doing the same thing over and over again.Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is something I became interested in while watching Mixed Martial Arts competitions and I was thrilled that Kime Karate offered it. The structure of the class really helps you learn the moves in a safe environment while working on fundamentals. The regulars in the class are all awesome people who are super friendly and helpful and make the class fun while allowing you to challenge yourself. I highly recommend this class to anyone who is interested in MMA or the UFC.I've definitely seen results since I started training at Kime-Karate and I'm very glad I decided to give their classes a try!

My son has really enjoyed Kime Karate. He was VERY hesitant at first, but, now can't wait to be there. His confidence is up and he is learning self control. Aric and his staff are wonderful with the children. I would reccommend them to anyone!

Kime Karate has been a wonderful experience for our son. Sensei Aric is amazing with the children; while teaching them Karate, self-defense and respect he has a calming influence. The way he maintains command of the class and repect is impressive. It is truely about the whole child and family- I am glad we chose to send our son to Kime Karate- he is learning many life long skills.
We also had our son's Birthday Party at Kime Karate which was a GREAT time!

Our son has been going to Kime Karate and Sensei Keyes for almost two years and he has already learned life lessons and principles that will stay with him for life! Sensei Keyes is a great role model for the young students. My wife and I are also very impressed with the caliber of the helpers Sensei Keyes has working. Our son really enjoys his time he spends doing Karate! We'd been to a couple of other martial arts programs before Kime Karate but they didn't even come close to the Kime Karate program and family!
Again, many things we like about you and your program at Kime Karate! I can't stress enough that it is the quality and caliber of the people that make up your program. I also appreciate the wide ranging praise for all the kids and positive encouragement and how you're able to minimize the distraction of the occasional 'non-focused' student. Again, you're really teaching life principles and lessons that the kids will take with them for life:
- Determination (never give up)
- Hard work
- Respect
- Compassion
- Doing the right thing
- Being good community citizens
- Focus
I realize this is only a small part of your overall program but am a real fan!
Thanks!

I wanted to find a great school where they understood what Martial Arts was about. I wanted my son to learn focus, respect and determination. I wanted a place he could grow with, as he is only 4.
I couldn't be happier with what we have experienced over the last few months. The instructors are incredibly patient, knowledgeable and understanding. Sinsei Keyes runs a great school with great students and instructors.

My son has been at Kime for over two years. The program has helped him in many areas. The positive reinforcement from then entire staff has helped his self-confidence. Prior to joining he struggled with focusing at school and since he has been attending the classes we along with his teachers have seen an improvement in his ability to focus. In addition to the building his self-confidence and ability to focus the program has been great exercise and strength building program. We have seen these and so many other positive influences on my son due to the Kime program. Above all when you join Kime you are part of a family that truly cares about its students and their families.
