LOVE fort Pilates- I had a serious back injury for 18 months and now it is GONE. I have never had a bad instructor for either a class or private. And I really appreciate how excellent the admin staff are - organized and responsible. Cannot say enough good things about this place except they (both classes and appts) fill up quickly!

I love Fort Pilates! Gorgeous space, excellent instruction and a really great work out every time. My body feels great afterward. I've been going to classes here for 8+ years and through pregnancy. The classes do book up, so book in advance if you can. All instructors are great!

I've been going to Fort Pilates for many years now! All of the teachers and staff are very friendly and kind. They really care about my movement and improvement. There's a variety of classes (skill and intensity level) and they go throughout the day (early morning to night). The calendar can be pretty busy, but as long as you book a week or two in advance, you can usually get into classes easily. I definitely recommend Fort Pilates to anyone who is interested in Pilates or is looking to try a new studio. I occasionally treat myself to a private class at their Dekalb studio, which I also recommend.

Fort Pilates is a fixture in my weekly routine. It is hands down the best studio I've visited in my 10+ years of taking classes around the city and doing one-on-one sessions to address chronic shoulder and back problems. The reformer classes are both therapeutic and challenging, with clear instructions and modifications offered for all levels. I really appreciate their focus is on wellbeing from the inside out (no big mirrors, all ages and body types represented and welcomed).

I've been going to Fort Pilates since it opened for privates and class . They are such a crucial part of maintaining my physical health - truly changed my life, helped manage and even alleviate my chronic back pain issues. I feel like my body type and needs are respected (I recently took a pilates class in California that was all about fitness and loud dance music and felt like a boot camp!) Fave teacher is Adam G but I've I also love my classes with Natalie, Catherine, Sara, Laurel, both Ashleys - and honestly never had a bad teacher. I do wish it was easier to find class availability and that the waitlist system was better - its hard to find a class on a whim - but the flip side is it forces me to plan ahead.

We had a great class a few weeks back with Adam. He explained things really well and we did some really cool movements. Isa at the front desk was lovely as well and made us feel so welcome!

I found the user experience quite disappointing. I purchased a 3-pack to use in prenatal classes in the coming month. However, I soon realized that there was no availability in their only prenatal class for the next month or more, and even the waiting list was full. Understanding that I wouldn't be able to use the package for its intended purpose, I reached out to the studio less than five minutes after making the purchase to request an exception for a refund given the situation. Unfortunately, they refused, despite the availability issue. According to their policy, I cannot take an alternative class because I'm in my third trimester. Overall, I found their handling of the situation quite distasteful and lacking in empathy.

I’ve always loved this studio but their newer price increases (50+ for a class with tax) feel egregious even for me. They just ran a flash sale which I was excited about, and stated that it “ends 3/31 at midnight”. I tried to purchase yesterday (3/31) but couldn’t, emailed in, and was told that it actually ended at 11:59 pm on 3/30. I asked if they could honor an extension as the language was a bit confusing and I was ready to purchase, but they said no. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, which again is unfortunate as they have good instructors and it’s a beautiful space

Took a class led by Molly and it was fantastic. The space is gorgeous. The reformer is sleek and much more comfortable than other reformers I've used. And Molly is a wonderful instructor. Thank you!

Fort Pilates is the best! The space is clean and beautiful with a pretty backyard. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I’ve taken all my classes with Adam the last few years because he makes you feel comfortable, provides personalized feedback, and makes class fun with his great personality. So glad I found this spot.

Their waitlist system feels very predatory and does not foster a culture of attendance. It's one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had with any class booking system in the city. I lost money on classes for which I had to waitlist weeks in advance, and if I don't constantly manage my waitlists, I lose credits for classes I can't attend. While they have a 12-hour cancellation policy for booked classes, it doesn't seem to apply to waitlisted classes, which is unfair.
I bought a 3-pack intro offer and could only waitlist for classes 2-3 weeks ahead because everything else was full. If I get pulled into a waitlisted class I can't make, there's no way for me to drop it without losing my credit. Their support team refused to refund my money or credits, despite it being my first time making this mistake. The classes I attended weren't even full. All in all with $80 intro offer, I could only attend a single class. The whole thing feels like a money-grabbing scheme. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone.

I’m only giving four stars because I wish there were three beginner classes a week rather than two. I started at Fort Pilates late October 2023 taking private lessons with Ariana to help me with some back and knee issues. I thought it would be easy and it was not, but it has truly helped my back, and knee issues. The movements and deep breathing were so soothing yet challenging. Pilates is a true full body workout after one on ones with Ariana I would go to my kickboxing class and my movements there was so much better and my kicks so much higher. After about eight or nine private sessions, I moved into group classes with Laurel on Tuesdays. I enjoy the check-ins just before class to ask about any issues you might have before the start of class. She gives a quick intro to the equipment and the props and within five minutes, you can actually feel the burn from the movements on the reformer. Laurel gives pretty good instruction, and she will even come over to you to straighten you out if you are not doing something correctly. The group classes I am taking are for beginners but she often offers a more challenging move for you to try. Fort Pilates is a great addition to my weekly exercise routine..

I have taken two advanced classes. The instructor had a couple really creative exercises like curtsy squat that I have never done before. But I personally prefer more classic Pilates routine: semicircle, stomach massage, snake, tendon stretch etc. Also the first 1/3 of the advanced class moved slowly with basic choreography, only a few exercises towards the end of class were truly “advanced.” It’s hard to find a bona fide advanced Pilates group class in the city.
Update: I have started taking privates in their beautiful studio overlooking the park and Sam gave such amazing exercises. So if you find the classes not challenging enough try a private.

Do I love this studio? Yes. Do they need to update their cancellation policy to reflect a COVID world? Yes. It's disappointing that they ask if you're not feeling well to "stay home and stop the spread" on their site, but are unwilling to honor a refund/reschedule if doesn't fit within their pre-COVID cancellation policy of 12 hours before a class.

As someone who had never tried Pilates before, everyone at this studio made me feel welcomed and was able to give support whenever needed. I like how they personally check in with you before each class. The studio is always very clean and I never feel like I'm doing the same routine twice.

Just want to send a “shout out” to the managers, owners, instructors, and office staff who continue even in this insane time to serve us through Zoom classes and private classes. For those who want the intimate training away from the big corporate gyms, Fort Pilates is the best there is to be a part of keeping the mind, body and spirit in shape. Thank you everyone. Don’t give up or quit because things are tough.

Tried the new student 3 class special and it was a great introduction to the classes, instructors, and space. All of the instructors are clearly very knowledgable and creative. The space is beautiful and clean.

Really great place to practice Pilates!! The teachers are very attentive to ones past, and present injuries and accommodate as best as possible. I've had group, and private with Ashley Ayers, and I'm very happy with her teaching and will continue to go there.

I have lived in the Fort Greene area for 6 years and always wondered why there wasn’t a Pilates studio nearby. Fort Pilates is a great new addition to the area. Such a beautiful space, simple and elegant and fabulous teachers make this studio a must visit!
