My husband and I had never danced before and we took lessons to prepare for our first dance at our wedding. We worked with Rita and it was amazing!! Over the course of a few months, not only did we learn some steps for our first dance, but now we're able to jump on the dance floor to do the hustle or swing dance at our friends weddings. Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Wappingers Falls NY exceeded our expectations, and believe me, we have high expectations. My wife wanted the best place to choreograph our wedding dance and that's how she found them. From the moment we walked in, we could feel the welcoming atmosphere with professional instructors. Cassie and Rita showed us what they had in mind for our first dance, and we loved it, but then the next thought was "how will we ever learn all of this?". We did, with the supportive team, answering every question in person, via email or text. The guidance and support are incredible. We were so happy with how our dance turned out! The Friday parties at the studio are the best, you feel like you are around friends and family. Of course, we decided to continue our dance journey after the wedding.

I joined this school in January and boy have I found my dance family! Not only are the teachers super sweet and funny, the students are your true cheerleaders. I know it’s a dance school but it feels like I'm part of a professional company. Ive already made what I know will be lifelong friends from this studio.
The teachers know their stuff, they really want to see you get better and it’s all around a good time. I competed in my first competition this year and it was super successful in major part because of the dedication and attention of these teachers. First in 24/25 of my heats thanks to them!

I've been taking lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Dutchess for many years now. The instructors John, Cassie, Vlad, Rita and Roma are incredibly talented and very good communicators. I never realized how intricate ballroom dancing could be until I started lessons here. All of the instructions have been able to explain, teach and make sense of all the details, big and small, that make up the steps for the many different dance styles they offer here. I started coming to Fred Astaire Dutchess 3 years ago when a friend brought me with her to a group lesson and practice party. Little did I know, it would be a life-changing experience. In the back of my mind, ballroom dancing had been something I had always wanted to try, but never had the opportunity to do so. Having studied ballet, tap and jazz extensively as a kid, I was coming in with a background in dance, but this was different than anything I had done before. From that first day on, I was hooked. The staff and students were incredibly warm and friendly - I was welcomed into their family pretty much right away and I now consider them among my closest friends. I can now say that I know how to follow (and lead) many dances including rumba, cha-cha, mambo, salsa, samba, swing, West Coast swing, waltz, foxtrot, tango, Viennese waltz, and Argentine tango. I have learned so much already from John, Elizabeth, Alex, and Max and I look forward to learning more.

Ballroom dancing peak my interest because I had a need to find a new hobby that would enhance my martial arts and fitness background. Dancing for a year now has improved my coordination, balance, posture, and allowed me to hit the dance floor which was a big achievement. All the instructors are very friendly and easy-going and each have their own unique style. My instructor Elizabeth made my sessions simple and understanding yet challenging enough to keep me on my toes. What I love about ballroom dancing, there are a lot of different styles of dance with their own unique twist. Every other Friday, the studio holds a dance practice party where everyone is felt welcomed by students and instructors to get out there and have fun. I highly recommend this place if you want to learn to dance, meet wonderful people both students and instructors, and if you want to challenge yourself to become better.

I have been learning dance with this studio, off (off was due to a serious knee injury, not dance related) and on for nearly 11 years. Starting originally with my wife, and later solo. They have brought me along from the very basics up to a fairly serious competitive level. It was also great therapy in the recovery from knee surgery, rebuilding the strength in my right leg. In addition to being great teachers, they're great people.
