They have not cleaned this pool in 3 years. And how do I know that ? I've been here since it opened Mon thru Friday. When this was Cohoes community center they were closed for 2 weeks because it took a week to empty pool and a week to fill it so I would know. Skum and dirt all over pool. They try to compensate that by adding chlorine which burns your skin. Showers are so slimy that I slipped and I was wearing flip flops.

Let me add in no privacy or curtain to shower. It's out in the open for everyone to see you. I suppose it's to discourage people using showers . Place is nasty. No air conditioning in work out room. People complain to owner but owner does nothing. There is barely anyone over here. I swear many reviews are fake and most of these reviews are to the Cohoes community center. NOT gateway. No longer a client. I'll find my services else where. 40.00 a month for this nasty place. I will be surprised if this pool last much longer. I'm very disappointed. I had high hopes for this place.

They do not care at all about the experience of disabled guests. I decided to try gateway because i’m in a wheelchair and they had an accessible pool. I do however require the assistance of an aid to get around. I called gateway before going over and they indicated that i couldn’t use their facility without an aid with me and they told me that she could come and assist me in the pool. When we arrived I was met with hostility. I asked for REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION with my aid and they indicated that she could help me through every part of their facility except the pool. They acted like i was trying to steal a free membership when all i wanted was to be able to use the facility. The cherry on top was that i was treated like yes of a person. I would speak and the woman at the desk would respond looking at my aid and not me. It’s my body that doesn’t work well not my brain. I would never recommend going here, especially if you’re disabled.

Totally disappointed, I told them to cancel my membership at the end of October, they said to charge me for one more month as a policy, ok that's fine. And they're still charging me on December!! When you request to quit, the people at front desk just ask you to sign your name , I don't even think he can recognize my handwriting then how could he know who's cancelling? He told me that's all it takes for cancellation and I can't do anything though I don't believe that bs. Then it comes true that they keep charging my card for the second month. I have to block this place thgourh my bank I saw other reveiws on false chargings, if it's not my friends insisting I would never consider this trash place.

Dissatisfied with the cleanliness of the floors lockers and restrooms. You can find the same junk on the floors, papers crunched up week after week so you know there is sloppy cleaning at best. Being an all time member of the cohoes community I know this place very well. As a child this was cohoes community center, camp row was so memorable and the amount of fun we had here is unbelievable. New owner ship needs a little help definitely the place is much quieter now (good for the members bad for business) please start offering more activities here for the YOUTH this is where the money will start coming in! The weight room is peaceful and accommodating. Gateway has potential

Horrible customer service. Can't staff enough people to keep all areas of facilities open and the staff they have at least one of them is horrible horrible horrible. And then after canceling they take another month. I can only hope it's the last payment they take but I feel like I will get screwed again by them. Will never recommend this facilities to anyone

After I called the gym and was told my membership was cancelled they continued to charge me, and only noticed that it was still charging my prepaid card because they sent me an email. The staff do not listen or tell you something their gonna do but never do. Also make sure to make a membership after the first or they will charge you again. Not worth this headache

This is a great Gym! A wide variety of quality modern machines and free weights. There are 2 big sections, one for the more hard-core body builders & weight lifters (like me) and another for the beginner or more casual lifter &/or cardio buff. Also a very nice looking pool I did not try out. Super clean & air conditioned. Great rates too!

The best part is they have a Pool! Split level workouts, meaning if you're done with cardio you can go downstairs for weight and muscle fitness. The spin room is downstairs. There is a separate room for boxing with two heavy bags and a rhythm bag.

There are some very positive aspects of gateway. First and foremost is the accessibility. Every other gym that I have attended tend to be overcrowded and forces you to plan your visits around the peek days/times to avoid the crowds. This is not an issue at gateway. Every time we go, regardless of the day/time, there is no crowd whatsoever. In fact, there have been several occasions that my son and I have had the main gym to ourselves for the full duration of our visit. The real reason for the 2 star rating is the Basketball court. When we became members, it was under the pretense that we would have access to the machine room, free weight room, boxing room, pool, and basketball court. But, it turns out that was not actually the case. Gateway rents the court to group's of people, and during those times it is unavailable to it's members. The problem is that the court is ALWAYS rented out and unavailable. We have been there 15-16 times and the Basketball court has been available ONE time. Even if the court was unavailable half of the time, I could live with it. But 1 out of 15 is not what I would consider ACCESS. This issue could be easily solved. I would suggest either setting aside a few hrs each evening, a couple times a week where the court is NOT available for rent, to ensure your members have the opportunity to utilize it without having to hope that it is available (in truth, I have simply come to expect that the court will NOT be available based on my experience). My other suggestion (which is the route I would take), is to have the court unavailable for rent a couple of days each week (Tuesday and Thursday for example). That way your members who wish to utilize the court and are paying you every month at least have the option to go on those specific days. If you are planning on becoming a member for just the Gym, then I highly recommend gateway. Just know that you will NOT actually be able to access the Basketball courts regardless of what they tell you when you sign on. I really hope that they rectify this issue. If so I would be giving at least a 4 star rating and saying what a great place this is.

Love the sports atmosphere here. The hygiene makes you feel super safe. My daughter is an avid swimmer and this is one of the pools she enjoys most. The owner was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this facility which has started to create a great community. 😊 Conveniently located with lots of parking and easy access!

Congrats to the owner(s) of this gym! I love it here! I am here every other day since canceling my membership at an Albany training gym. I was sold once I did a tour of the gym! Everything I need is right in this gym💯Plus I live in Cohoes. It’s a win-win for me. I was traveling to Albany early mornings to workout for 5am which meant I had to leave out my home around 4:30am on days I have to work in mornings just to set the tone for my day, but now It’s less than 5mins away from me! And I am saving gas $ so I originally paid $39 for the other gym with only a select few equipment I was using... Now for me it’s so many to choose from in this gym as well as open space to freelance with full body workouts by the fake grass with dumbbells/deadlifts 😁😇 It’s like walking in a candy store for me😍 But a healthy one lol... So I am paying the extra few dollars which I am not complaining about. So overall, I am happy with this gym and what it offers for me! Thanks for the convenience! I will be at this gym for quite some time. One happy member indeed!💪🏽💯💪🏽

If you desire the bare minimum of childcare for an outrageous price come to this “camp”. Activities include: drawing, making paper fortune tellers sprinkler play and swimming (nice pool at least) top it off with shoddy field trips once a week (valley cats game, thatcher park. Really???) for $190 a week unless you’re on assistance. Staff are lazy and unexperienced. Never. Ever. Again.

Swimming pool is great. Staff is not engaging- more doing their own thing. I wanted a tour when I was looking to join and was told I could just walk around. The cardio room is awful and awkward. One elliptical that is very old and extremely loud and the rest are tread mills. The weight room has one bench press and just a very limited amount of equipment. The only thing it has going for it is the pool which is warm and big. Also, gym schedule is awful, being closed on Sundays. Membership fee is pretty affordable.
