I've attended Go No Sen for 5 years. The instructors are competent, have great attitudes, & enthusiastic about teaching. The dojo is spacious, clean, & fun to train in. I've learned a lot during my time there & I still practice what I've learned to this date. Thank you, Kyoshi.

The space is great, friendly folks, welcoming, clearly passionate and dedicated to art of Karate. But what shined the most to me was the care, attention and kindness on how they address and teach the kids. Exemplary.

What a beautiful warm family like setting. The way you get drawn into this magnetic place is magical. We as a family have really connected with Adam and couldn’t have found a better Karate home. Thank you for staying true to your passion in arming our children with the skills they need to be successful in so many ways. How wonderful to see children become the teachers.

Go No Sen recently did a demo class for our preschool and all the kids (and us parents) loved it! The instructors were incredibly kind and patient yet firm and clear. It was amazing to watch young kids (ages 2-6) learn some karate basics while gaining confidence, following precise directions, and having so much fun. Everyone was impressed by Go No Sen’s quality of instruction, and I would definitely send my kids for regular classes here.

We chose the dojo because of all of the great reviews of how all of the Sensei work really terrifically with children on the Spectrum. Sensei Tyler and his team have been nothing short of spectacular and supportive to our family. We come every week on Saturdays and get private lessons and it’s truly magnificent seeing my son grow in martial arts. Soon my daughter will be joining as well

Amazing Dojo. Great leadership, lots of teachers in the class giving your kids individualized attention and correction of needed. Really gives kids a sense of accomplishment and pride. They knew my kids name after one class- even teachers who didn’t teach him- THAT was impressive to my child and myself. He felt really part of the “club” from day 1 and they made it fun so he wasn’t nervous. I saw kids go from being defiant to their parents as they got ready to go into class to coming out happy and proud of themselves and thanking their mom in 30 short minutes. It’s amazing what they do there!

Go No Sen is a fantastic example of what a martial arts program can be when it succeeds in serving the community. I was so impressed with the supportive atmosphere Kyoshi has built around his practice- everyone I saw was kind, smiling, welcoming. In my 30+ years of martial arts training I have rarely seen a program that has traditional discipline and high technical standards as well as genuine warmth between students and instructors, and laughter along with learning. He has adult instructors that began with him as students when they were tiny kids. He provides his black belts with encouragement and leadership training as well as teaching them the art itself. The success of this program is a testament to Kyoshi's leadership and caring as well as his skill and mastery as a martial artist. I would recommend this program to adults and children alike who want to learn true Okinawan life protection arts in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. It's an exceptional place, and his students are very fortunate. He has programs for all kids who want to learn.

This morning, I attended a talk and demonstration on Tai Chi basics. How to handle a fall, keep your balance and your alignment along with several other topics were discussed. Alan & Adam were both excellent. Over the last few years, I had a hip replacement and then broke my arm by slipping on some black ice. This has made me very aware that more than ever, I have to work on my mobility and strength so that I don't fall again. Alan showed us some basic Tai Chi moves. He walked us through the moves several times to make sure everyone understood them. His sense of humor and professionalism put you at ease so you could relax and enjoy the Tai Chi moves. Adam closed the presentation with information on his two locations and explained their mission. I am looking forward to their new program - Falling without Fear. Thanks to Alan & Adam for taking the time to bring this wealth of information to our group.

My son Enrique has been going here since he was 4 years old. He is now 26 years old and became one of the higher instructors. As a Sempai he teaches along with Kyoshi Adam and the other Sensei. Me and my wife could not be happier for him. He is developing leadership skills that will help him with all his day to day’s activity and help him grow as a young adult. Hey Danilo Noa here! (20 y/o)

I am updating my review of Go No Sen Karate as I recently took part in my first ever tournament this Sunday on March 2nd and have been going here for about roughly 5 months. I was a bit nervous at first but everyone at the event was very welcoming, kind, and helpful! The tournament itself was a-lot of fun despite it being my first time, I got to learn a-lot and compete with my friends. The tournament itself was a huge learning opportunity & showed me I have a-lot to learn but was still an amazing opportunity to show up and give it my all.

I would highly recommend anyone who is considering learning karate to go to Go No Sen. The entirely community is very welcoming and the instructors are amazing. All the instructors & fellow students are very involved and help at each learning curve to ensure you feel confident with what you practice and succeed!

They took the time to explain techniques thoroughly, ensuring that everyone, no matter their skill level, feels comfortable and confident. Both of my kids are students at Go No Sen. They’ve been coming here for several years. I’m a professional in the field of communication and leadership - the great thing about the Go No Sen program is that it focuses as much on character as actual karate skills. Confidence and a positive attitude around improving every day are life skills that my kids will carry forward as they develop. I’m a past student. The physical karate that I learned at Go No Sen were nothing compared to the life lessons I was taught over my 11+ years. Some traits that I acquired that helped mold me into the man I am today are discipline, patience, persistence, courage, and perseverance, just to name a few. The leadership program enhances and furthers all of the lessons learned over the years, and is capped off each year with a weekend at sleep away camp. I recently had the pleasure of having Go No Sen at my preschool for my 3, 4 and 5 year old students. From the moment they started their workshop the children were hooked! It was so engaging! From the oldest to the youngest, they were excited to participate. Everyone involved was excellent with the children. The physical aspect is so important for children in developing their strength, coordination and agility, but the mental aspect is also very rewarding. I loved the “you are successful if you always try your best” attitude. Each child left that workshop feeling empowered and with a huge smile. They talked about it the rest of the day. My children have been going to the school for a few months. I have a three old and five-year-old autistic boy. From day one, they put personal interest in my kids. The owners themselves have called me on several occasions, telling me that they’ve discussed my children with their instructors and have came up with suggested plans that could accommodate to their specific needs.

Most importantly for my autistic son, never have I felt judged or disregarded. On the contrary, they really do try and it feels as if they really care. I see the improvement with all of their young instructors that have been there since childhood and I know that my son could get to that point as well if he continues to be mentored by them.

Most of the instructors are young, but they are the most disciplined, caring, responsible and humbled people I have met. Never have I felt that my boys were ever in danger of running out of the building or getting hurt.

I look forward to what a bright future can hold for my autistic son if they really continue to work with him. Thank you for making us feel comfortable and wanted!

I've spent several years at Go No Sen training under Master Adam and my experience has been a journey of greatness and understanding peace within myself. I find this school to be family focused with great instruction for all students regardless of age. My journey to black belt has been a hard road but something I am proud of- special thanks to all the instructors as I have moved out of state but my memories will not be forgotten! MY GNS FAMILY!

I’ve been a student at GNS for over 13 years, and I can truly say how life changing being at this school is. Not only did I gain self defense skills, but also learned how to be confident in myself. The community of instructors and assistants are phenomenal. It’s such a positive and welcoming environment. If you are looking for a program for your child, I highly recommend coming and checking out Go No Sen!!

I am recently retired and looking for a place to practice martial arts and found Go No Sen in Peekskill by accident. They made me feel welcome and took an immediate interest in me as an individual. I had gone to other martial arts schools and was not greeted in such a warm and respectful way as they did in Go No Sen.. They have been very supportive and patient and teaching me at a pace that works well for a person of my age and ability. They are a very nice group of people, conduct excellent classes, and make it fun. Very glad I joined their school..!

To say I would recommend Go No Sen is an understatement. My only regret was waiting. We often forget that change doesn’t happen overnight, but it can happen in one year. We start with habits, they become routines, routines become lifestyle. Starting daily with simple positive affirmations such as “yes I can”, “never, never, give up” instill a sense of commitment and confidence. In little over a year I’ve witnessed my 9 and 7 year old grow in such values. My nine year old has grown from a child with tears in her eyes, reluctant to try anything outside her comfort zone to a child who leads amongst her peers; while my seven year old is growing learning the value of living a life with passion, integrity, and honesty. If you have children who can fall prey to everyday social anxieties then I whole heartedly recommend Go No Sen.

We have had a great experience so far here. Go No Sen Karate has been a welcoming place where real life experiences are being taught in the form of martial arts. With a current karate and leadership student, we have started to see more confidence in school and with trying new things, even if he is not "good" at them.

"I would recommend the Go No Sen Karate because I am learning a lot. I get to have new experiences in learning Karate, but doing other things outside the dojo with everyone at karate, like walking my first 5K. I also have a lot of fun at the summer camp." - Amar'e M. As a dedicated student and instructor at Go No Sen, I am thrilled to share my experience with this exceptional martial arts academy. From the moment I walked through their doors, I knew I had found a place that not only taught karate but also fostered a sense of belonging and personal growth. Go No Sen has truly become my second home. I’ve spent a decade of my life dedicated to the materials arts not only as a student, but as as instructor. From the warm greetings of the instructors to the friendly student body you can sense inviting and inclusive atmosphere. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, everyone is treated with respect and encouragement. The instructors are not only knowledgeable but also patient and approachable, always willing to go the extra mile to help students improve. The Sempais, Sensei’s, Shihans, and Kyoshi are all dedicated to the martial arts ensuring that every class is well-structured and informative. They effectively break down techniques, providing clear explanations and demonstrations to ensure that students grasp the concepts thoroughly. I love the Go No Sen community and can’t imagine
what my life would be like without it. We’d love for you to join us on this incredible journey of self-discovery and empowerment through the martial arts!

While this review is long overdue, I am able to include the impact Go No Sen has on our two boys, in just a matter of months. When our boys lack interest or begin an unfamiliar activity, they easily lose focus; they get silly and are not mindful of self-control. This is no longer the case when they attend their classes. Because their classes are engaging, promote self-confidence, determination and self-control, our boys have shown improvements. They are able to focus, they are willing to learn more and they refrain from any silliness. Sensei D.J. is an awesome instructor. Brian is super helpful and diligently responds to any inquiries. There is a great culture at Go No Sen; their core program is reflective of steps towards becoming pillars of the community. Renshi Adam McCauley & Shihan Lauri McCauley made this Veteran family feel welcomed. Thank you!!

GNS karate is my home away from home. Going there brings me so much joy and I love teaching and taking classes. I've been a part of the GNS dojo for roughly 9 years, since I was 6 years old. I started as a little dragon and now I've gone through the leadership program for 5 years now as well as gotten my blackbelt. I'm hoping to continue this never-ending karate journey with GNS and work my way up the levels of blackbelt :)

My daughter was having trouble at school almost every week - she loves talking to her peers. After participating in this program, I've noticed her behavior at home changing for the better. We had a parent-teacher conference and her behavior at school is also improving. I like that this program has helped her not only in just her karate skills, but her discipline at home and school as well, and as a parent, I feel included as well. "Sensei DJ" in particular has made a lasting positive impact on my daughter, and she loves his classes - she respects him and her behavior has reflected this sense of respect in all areas. Thank you Sensei DJ!! I placed my daughter in the spring break mini camp and highly recommend this program!!

Both of my sons love Go No Sen Karate. They love the school, the staff members and their peers. One thing I loved about the tournament was that there were no trophies for those who did not win. We live in a society that needs to be rewarded even for losing. One of my two sons, one, and one lost. The one that lost said " I hate karate, I'm never gonna go back!" But when I spoke to him, I said " next time we just have to try harder." He went to his next class just as happy as always. We truly are a Go No Sen Family <3 At Go No Sen karate kids are not only taught to kick, they are thought to be the best they can be!

My son found a community of support and care when he joined. For a child with ADHD, a disability, it is very tough - like many social endeavors - for him to succeed. The folks at Go No Sen Karate, I believe, share the owner's philosophy. It's not about money. It about legacy. It's about the students. It's about discipline. And this school accomplishes that goal. We've only been going for two years, but I hope my boy grows within their ranks and keeps learning. You can tell this is a family run business run for other families. You can't beat values like that. As long as they keep looking out for him, they have my complete confidence. We love Go No Sen Karate.
