Miguel is an amazing coach and advisor who always takes the time to make sure you understand what an exercise does and why you're doing it. He's always professional and punctual, and will go out of his way to make sure you're getting the most out of your sessions. Since I've started seeing him, I've lost weight, gained muscle, and had more energy throughout the day. I don't leave a lot of reviews, but this one was a must—highly recommend!

Best trainer I've worked with - he tailors your workouts based on the physical activities that you do in your spare time, and he tries to promote holistic health unlike trainers that focus on just getting you sweating or lifting the highest number. I learned a lot not just about how to have good form when lifting, but also about stretching, overall habits (breathing/posture), and more. Also he's just a super friendly guy that grew up in the neighborhood; I'd consider him to be a friend as well as my trainer.

Miguel is an amazing trainer and has changed my life in so many positive ways. Whether you're starting from zero, training for MMA, or training for other sports, he'll get you conditioned in a way that's fast and injury free. He'll tell you exactly why you're doing a particular exercise, educate you on how your muscle groups interact with one another so you know exactly what's going on when you're doing an exercise, and will help you reach your goals by training you hard and effectively. He will reach out to you outside of your training sessions to check up on you and really cares about how you are doing. It's incredible how much this man knows about the mechanics of the human body.
I'm in undoubtedly the best shape of my life under Miguel's guidance and couldn't be any more grateful!

If you’re in the market for a PT and you’re in Brooklyn, Miguel at Goodwin Barbell is the only name you need to know. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my experience training with Miguel. He is extremely passionate, energetic, knowledgeable, and professional. Miguel ensures trainings sessions are personalized and tailored to meet my specific goals while factoring in any previous injuries or physical limitations. Not only does he strive to help you achieve your fitness goals but he also arms you with the knowledge and science behind the reasons why we do these workouts. He places a lot of emphasis on injury prevention, maintaining proper form and always ensuring that we are training safely within our limits. The workouts are fun yet challenging and I always leave feeling better, stronger and more confident every time. The gym is boutique style which makes it feel very private and exclusive. Communication was great for scheduling sessions as he is very accommodating. Trust me when I say you are in good hands when you’re with Miguel, cannot recommend him enough!

Working out with Miguel at Goodwin Barbell Club has been an incredible experience over the past year for myself. I came in for a trial last December and over a year I'm still hooked on the results I've seen. Under his guidance I have slimmed down over 15lbs and am in the best shape I’ve been in years!
Miguel is a great trainer who takes the time to carefully plan out each workout and track the results session after session. The intimacy of this gym and having 100% of your trainers attention 100% of the time with no outside distractions makes for amazing training sessions each time, and I know that I'm maximizing the efficiency of my workout with Miguel's steadfast guidance and dedication to my needs each session.
Miguel places strong emphasis on injury prevention and daily stretching, with workouts being strenuous or very strenuous, but never unnecessarily so. He takes the time to explain the exercises you’re engaging in and ensures to keep communication open for feedback during your workout.
I strongly recommend the Goodwin Barbell Club, you’ll get an amazing workout with Miguel and more importantly he will teach you not how to workout, but how to workout better by arming you with knowledge of the exercises you may have been “going through the motions” of for years. I have been training with Miguel for an overall period of 8 months. Miguel is a both extremely knowledgeable technical trainer and a high energy motivator.
Honestly, all I needed to do was to make myself go to the sessions and he helped me out get the motivation I needed, specially when my life was very busy and hectic.
Going to his 'crafted with love' little gym was a sweet break for me, he makes it fun to work out! (and I'm not the type to enjoy working out).
Once you start, he makes sure you are taking care of yourself, even between sessions. You can always consult with him about your nutrition and get written workouts you could do on you own. Miguel got me into a routine where I enjoy working out and not afraid of it, I highly recommend the investment of working out with him.

What can I say about Miguel and Goodwin Barbell Club?
First of all, I love the idea of having one on one training. It's very intimate and more 1:1 based where I feel like I am getting so much for my money. I get the 1:1 help. I get information about what he has me do and why I am doing it as well as how it will benefit me in the long run. He is very strategic when it comes to routines and form. He advocates injury prevention so he makes sure you are doing exercises in proper form. He pushes me to be a better me. He touches basis with me about my diet on a consistent basis and always offers a variety of diets I should try according to what I need. He has me do different exercises each day I meet with him which is 3x a week. He offers availability on other days when I cannot meet my scheduled time. He tells me what exercises I should continue to do at home and what stretches I should do on a daily basis to help with pain I feel on my joints or throughout my body. He is easy to speak to and is very passionate about what he does. His place is immaculately clean and always smells great. In addition, he has the cutest "chunkiest" bulldog ever. She will come out to meet people on occasions. She is sweet and very friendly. If you are looking for dependable, knowledgeable, clean, passionate, motivational, and a change for a better lifestyle, try Miguel and Goodwill Barbell Club. You won't be disappointed.
