This is a great studio. The classes are cheaper than Barry's, but similar in nature. The average fitness level in the class is lower than at Barry's, but of course you can run as fast as you want. All staff are very friendly.

I came across a great first timer deal for Grit Boxing on IG—$40 for 2 classes—so I decided to give it a try. Grit boxing has more of a social vibe than your typical workout studio. I ended up attending two events: one was a singles mixer and the other was a pizza party. They actually brought in Joe’s Pizza for everyone post class. There was even an open bar afterward, which definitely made for a fun!
That said, the class itself felt a bit unstructured and a little too intense for my liking. While the overall experience was interesting… I still prefer the workout and format at Rumble. Sorry not sorry!

It’s a mix of orange theory and soul cycle, it’s a fun class if your into that kind of intensity. For sure I would come back here again and take these classes again, defiantly sweated my ass off. Had tons of fun and there is a bar.

Grit BXNG is one of the most fun group fitness classes I've EVER been to!!!
After purchasing the 2-day trial they offer (which included a really nice bag for free!) I was immediately HOOKED. The classes are 50 minutes and combine weights/HIIT on the floor, treadmill walk/run, and boxing.
All of the trainers are amazing and help pump you up for the workout (I've attended at least 3 different trainers classes) And, the music is FIRE...perfect for someone like myself who really loves listening to EDM and letting the music hype me throughout the entire workout.
Their customer service is also incredible!! Huge shoutout to Neil for answering emails really quickly and being such a great support and help! And big thanks to the whole GRIT BXNG team for offering so many great deals and promos -- def sign up for their newsletters and be on the lookout!

I attended a class at Grit BXNG for the first time today, and while the workout and the instructor were both excellent, my experience with the male front desk staff left me feeling uncomfortable. He was very enthusiastic in greeting every Black and White person who entered after me, but he didn't acknowledge me until I walked up to him and initiated a conversation. I felt discriminated against, whether because of my appearance or my race. I was wearing a black t-shirt and yoga pants. For non-Asian individuals, I think this gym might offer a welcoming atmosphere, but as an Asian, I didn’t find the white male at the front desk to be very friendly.

Music, Disco vibes while boxing and a bar for “apres ski”. It’s perfect.
Went for an introductory session as a Denim Day event sponsored by Sanctuary for Families and others (sorry, don’t know the details) and I was sold.
I’m going back as soon as I form a group for semi-private sessions.

I emailed to inquire about the hours of operation to confirm if this gym would workout with my work schedule. The staff responded rudely and did not answer my question and only provided the closing time. As per Google it shows different hours, they sent me to the website which does not show the hours of operation.
I called and the staff were extremely rude, I asked for a manager and the young lady transfered me to another front desk staff who asked me for my name but refused to give me hers as she knew I wanted her name to file a complaint to management. I believe her name is Sara listed on the email. Nevertheless if a client is expressing interest in joining, or if they just had questions no one should be treated and spoke to as such.
As much as I wanted to join the gym, I will not be joining due to my negative experience with the front desk associates. Also the hours on Google should be updated.

Grit is SUCH a great workout! I was super intimidated trying this out bc it looked intense and I’m fit-adjacent. But everyone was incredibly welcoming and encouraging.
The workout switches between treadmills, weights, and boxing. There’s screens showing you the combos in case you get stuck. And I appreciate the club/low lighting to hide how sweaty I get.
I particularly like Evan’s classes. All the trainers are great but he really utilizes the incline on the treadmills & has interesting weight room/boxing combinations for muscle confusion.
The social aspect is nice as well! Whether you stay for drinks or not, they really try to create an atmosphere for people to meet & hype each other up.
I started with the intro deal for two glasses, two drinks, and the Grit bag (which has quickly become my everyday bag). Neil at the front desk was really kind & patient figuring out a class package that worked best for me. I love going & it’s really boosted my confidence ☺️💪🏻

My go to place for HIIT workout because it is like a combination of Barry’s and Rumble.
You can start with either Tread, Floor, or Bag (meaning treadmill, weights, or boxing, respectively). There are 9 rounds: you have 2 rounds per station for 3.5 mins then you have the lightning rounds for 3 mins to finish.
There are multiple instructors and each has a different style. I like to go by the time (early morning at 7 am) and it is usually not so packed in the morning.
It is now a member’s only club so look for their welcoming deals or ask a friend to bring you to try out first if you are interested.
Intensity wise, it is adjustable based on your own level but I think generally it is a bit easier than Barry’s and similar to Rumble. Don’t be fooled by the bar as think it is a drinking place. I don’t drink so I skip the bar and maximize my workouts there. It is all up to your personal choices what you wish to achieve there.

I always needed motivation when I went to the gym, sometimes I'd come home and feel like I hadn't worked hard enough. I tried this boxing gym because a friend told me it was great fun! I went in and never felt so sore after a workout - it was so much fun that I didn't realize I'd worked so hard! What's more, the staff are really nice. I’ve been wanting to try this workout class for a while now and I’m so glad I finally did recently. My friend and I bought the special $39 package which is SUCH a great deal and so worth it.
We both really enjoyed the class! It feels like you’re in a club and the class goes by so quickly! I use to box a lot and haven’t in years until I took this class and I really enjoyed it! I love that they have a visual of what moves you’re doing in the boxing rounds and the floor rounds so if you forget what the instructor said you can look at the screens at the front.
If you want a good and fun workout, this is definitely worth trying!

Great music, cardio was straightforward and Floor exercises, but the boxing could be more focused. Not much instructor focus on the boxing people cause they're busy pumping up the whole class(treadmill and floor too).

Honestly you have to go at least once just for the experience. It’s a different workout than I am used to, rotating between treadmill, punching bag, and weight room. As someone who is NOT a runner I mainly jogged, but the punching bag was a lot of fun and the weight room makes it feel well rounded. Instructions for each section are on a screen and/or the coach will walk you through them. The vibes are right music is up lights are down and it low key feels like a club lol. But the “after party” makes it all worth it!

There are 3 reasons why GRIT is the best gym in NYC. First is the community. It’s so much fun here. After class, everyone is hanging out and taking shots together. You will meet new friends every class. Second is the actual gym. It’s clean, sleek and the workout area looks like a nightclub. Tons of lights, huge led screens and just an all around epic vibe for working out. Last is the actual workout. It’s broken down into three stages: bags, treadmills and floor exercises. During the workout they rotate you through these several times with only small breaks in between. This means you’re burning calories like a boss! My Apple Watch said I almost burned 1000 calories on my last class. If you’re looking for a great way to stay fit and meet new people in NYC. Come try GRIT!
Bonus item to note - the bathrooms are super clean and well maintained!

Comparable to Rumble but more cardio focused as they also have a section of treadmill. I’ve received a great customer service from Neil and ended up signing up for monthly ultimate membership(month to month with no commitment). Their locker room amenities can be worked on as they aren’t as stocked as when they first opened a few years back (for ladies, no deodorant, no hair ties, no tampons, no mouthwash, etc. Shower amenities are basic). I bring my own gloves but bought Grit’s quick wraps and they are pretty decent compared to the ones you’d get at Title. It may seem intimidating at first but once you get into the zone, you couldn’t careless about others. Get your workout done and come back again for more.

Good for fun, bad for boxing and holistic health.
If you're looking for a high-energy, fun, motivational workout in a club atmosphere, this could be a great place for you. If you're interested in learning how to box or being supported in your health by fitness experts, I would not recommend this gym.
THE EXPERIENCE:
The workout involves three stations - treadmills, a "weight room" (that consists of dumbells), and water training punching bags. You move through each station accompanied by deep bass and an instructor that's somewhere between a new-age church leader, motivational speaker, spring break DJ, and fitness coach.
You will not learn anything about boxing. While at the bags, some combos come up on a screen that you can follow along with. You will not be taught proper technique. This goes for the other workouts as well. This was pretty disappointing to me. I personally think that a fitness space has a responsibility to teach people how to do the exercises effectively and, more importantly, safely. I used to box regularly and was disappointed to see, for example, that there's no regard for teaching people how to protect the shoulder and wrist while throwing combos.
After the class, tequila shots were passed around. This could be very exciting for you. For me, it felt in high contradiction with health, especially since alcohol dehydrates you. Odd choice for a post-workout.
THE ATMOSPHERE:
The space is meant to look like a club. The locker rooms are pure white, backlit by neon pinks and blues. There are showers, blow dryers, towels, and lockers provided. The fitness space itself is completely black with bright colorful lights pulsing to the beat of amped-up music. There is a bar in the main entrance.
THE STAFF:
The staff generally seemed very friendly and welcoming. The instructor was high energy, kind, and very positive. I joined as a new member which the website says includes drink tokens and a gym bag. I did not receive either.

I...love Grit...so much. I go once a week and have come to rely on the high. True, if you’ve never boxed before, you *shan’t* emerge a pro. But I’m always impressed how the trainers manage tread, floor and bags at once. I love the format, because by the time I’m worn out by one thing, it’s on to the next.
Grit also helps you train for important life skills, like successfully chasing down the Uber you just left your phone in, defending yourself against someone who is exactly 4’ tall, and maintaining focus around a damn-good-lookin’ man.

If you're looking for something fun and more like a party / rave setting than this is for you. Disco lights, fog machines, shots of alcohol at the end, pink sparkly motorcycle in the lobby.... etc. However, if you're someone who actually cares about their fitness you're not going to get long term results from this type of workout. It's the type of place where class attendees will spend more time taking selfies than working out.... and that's probably why it's somewhat popular.

Wow 🤩 I found exactly what I was looking for: a hardcore and challenging workout, boxing, hot tracks on the playlist during interval training, impeccably clean and modern facility, super friendly staff, the cutest and well trained human lover pup (gritty). Best bartender ever makes sure I have my electrolytes 🤩 the trainers and owner makes you feel like family and check up on me 🙏🏼 The introductory offer was attractive enough but once I tried it out, I was bit intimidated by all the fit people but rather motivated. This is the perfect class for next level, boutique fitness class. It’s more than boxing. Averaging a 600 calorie burn per class.

Not for people that is serious about their workout. They offer you a free shot after the class and have a bar...

GRIT provides white glove service with a friends and family feel. The one-of-a-kind workout experience speaks for itself and the kindness and hospitality of the GRIT team is unmatched. From adorable puppy Gritty greeting customers, to mood director + bartender Laith remembering guests by name and face, to instructors like Anthony going above and beyond to know and help their clients, to co-founder Ediva giving hands-on tips on the boxing floor, GRIT is filling the fitness void NYC didn’t know it had. Highly encourage everyone to visit GRIT and experience the unparalleled workout and hospitality for themselves!

Not for me, but I've spent enough time here to say that if boxing-based training is your thing this is THE PLACE.

I’m a boxer and of drinking age. Came in super fired up off the street to see what they were about. The only people there were employees, and all but one were self-absorbed and haughty, annoyed they had to answer questions about membership and merch. Not a boxing culture by a long shot. Drinking culture on trend.

Punch drunk love. In that order. The atmosphere is a party and the trainers are really into their workout and pumping you up. It's circuit training with a nightclub feel. Boxing and drinking. Sounds like an Irish pub.

Great workout. This place is like Barry’s and Rumble on full tilt and it is amazing. I consider myself a fitness junkie and I usually love to try hot new gyms and workouts. Barry’s Bootcamp and Rumble are two of my favorites, so this place didn’t disappoint.
The interior of the studio is pretty small but it was nice to be greeted by a sweet boxer dog, Gritty, who I think is the namesake of this spot.
I went on a Tuesday in the late morning so the class wasn’t completely full. I started on the treadmill. You do nine rounds total, three at each station, which I felt was challenging. This is fairly nonstop cardio/interval training.
The treadmill portion was challenging but doable and the boxing was pretty good too. Love the water bags. The floor section was tougher than I anticipated it being.
The vibe is very similar to a club. Lots of flashing lights, club music and latest hits blaring overhead. Honestly it was a little too loud for me but what can I say? I’m getting old.
Really liked this workout. I’ll be back!

The facility is fantastic. Beautiful, the bar vibe is cool, bartenders great, people checking you in super nice, music selection also great ! I don’t like water bags, so that part isn’t my fav, and I thought the combos on the water bags were ok. Otherwise beautiful space . They really put a lot of thought into this place . Way more spacious than their competitor in terms of room to workout .. and way more friendly .

Cool vibes for the fitness sense. I was skeptical at first but after taking just one class i was convinced this place will be around for a while. Fun, Young Atmosphere where people that like to workout and drink can meet in the same place. One of the owner Dylan is a really nice guy that is very engaging with the clients and the trainers I met so far are all really cool. See ya Thursday 430pm

This place is great fun and a smart innovation in boutique boxing to include weights and tread. Facility is sleek and clean, including nice locker rooms. Coaches are awesome and want you to feel comfortable and accomplished. You're paying for the experience and feels more like a sweaty "night out" versus a regular workout routine. Definitely worth trying if you like boutique fitness but will not take the place of a gym or more traditional bootcamps.

The gym itself is freaking awesome. A MUST-GO for fitness fanatics. My class with Mark was epic. I really sweat it out and the music was amazing. The only thing i would say is I wish we had extra help with the boxing portion of the class. I know I can speak for a lot of people when I say my form isn’t great. They claim to be a boxing gym..... which isn’t really the case. An extra trainer on deck alongside Mark would’ve been appreciated so he can focus on the other two stations. Otherwise 5/5. GO TAKE THIS CLASS!

Overall, it’s a fancy version of HIIT class, better described as “boxing inspired” rather than boxing. Overcrowded and if you want to learn something, this place is not for you. Workout is fine but not to extensive even though they say “they most harfest workout in NYC”. I doubt that program will ever change, making it very boring if you take it pretty often. Also, it’s overpriced relative to other places.

They try soooo hard to be trendy and the instructors don't comment on form (they’re too busy jumping up and down / dancing on stage). Feels like a bootleg version of Rumble. 2 stars because at least I broke a sweat.

I was invited to take an introductory class on a friend's guest pass, however, when I arrived I had to buy $8 hand wraps (with no explanation of what that was just that I need them) and rent $3 boxing gloves. Yet we only boxed for 1/3 of the class. I was excited to try out a new class to break my routine of Core Power and Switch, but this was an awkward and not very warm welcome. Of course check it out and perhaps it'll be great for you.
