About the Club

Our philosophy and goal is to teach people to move better through practice; to use novelty and intensity to create a fun environment of constant progress; to maintain education as our primary goal for both coaches and clients. It’s a place to learn and grow – to improve your body AND your mind, to get strong and fast, to increase your power output, to increase endurance and stamina, to get flexible, stable, and balanced, and to move with grace and agility. We do this so that when you’re NOT with us, you can truly just have fun. We believe that fitness is a state of mind, a way of being. It shows up in the way you talk, walk, sleep, eat, work, play, dress, and relax.

This place has truly changed my life because I’ve always hated the gym. I used to join gyms like Planet Fitness and quit in 2 days until I came to Grit City.

I came in for the tour and was intrigued by the classes. It wasn’t like the aerobic classes I was accustomed to,(I didn’t know anything about CrossFit) and the vibe was good. I was offered a free class and it was one of the best workouts I’ve ever done. I’ve never done so many squats in my life!!! After that, I’ve decided to join.

I like the variety of classes that the gym has to offer and all of the coaches are great!!! I also love the community aspect of the gym. Everyone is so nice and very supportive. You can also purchase a protein shake, energy tea and protein waffles and protein donuts from Lito. They are delicious.

As of today, I’ve been coming here consistently for 10 months, 4-5 days a week!!! The workouts are challenging yet rewarding, so I recommend anyone to come and check it out.

This is a great gym community, with highly qualified coaches, and a great space to workout in. Amazing coaches, community, and gym. I can’t say enough. Sean the owner is amazing and sets the tone. Coaches care about your personal progress. The members are welcoming and share a strong sense of community. And the space is huge. Being a member is life changing. At around 5 in the morning most days a week I drive from the upper west side to Grit City in the Bronx passing well over 100 gyms. Why - a rational person would ask? Because after extensive diligence its 100% certain that there is no better fitness program then what comes out of the brilliant (and at times maniacal) mind of Sean Wright at Grit City. No matter what your fitness goal, level or weakness you may be battling, he will personalize programming and push your limits making you greater then what you ever fathomed possible. I've joined so many gyms and tried different classes to find a challenge and a place where I didn't plateau in a couple months AND THIS IS IT! As I'm writing this review, my shoulders and arms are sore beyond belief from yesterday's soul crushing work out. I'm still surprised whenever it happens ... last week was my legs =) I've been a member since 2017 and the work outs are always cleverly programmed, fun and demanding. Yes I said fun! =) The coaches and members are all welcoming and motivating to be around. Sean Wright the owner and one of the coaches there has the best strength and conditioning program ever. If you consistently come to class, YOU WILL see the results. If you don't believe it, I seriously recommend trying a class to see for yourself. You don't need to know everything, you just have to show up and the coaches will handle it from there. Everyone truly wants you to success and pushes each other to be the best version of themselves here and that energy and inspiration will spill into your everyday life. This community will be your 2nd family. The only regret you will have is not finding this place sooner. I'm telling you just come see what all the fuss is about!! You'll thank yourself (and me) later!!

I've had the pleasure of going to various CrossFit and Strength & Conditioning gyms in NYC over the years, yet I was totally blown away when I walked into Grit City last night. It's a massive space, might be the largest CF gym I've been to before, and this allows them to have a ton of equipment available (Barbells, kettlebells, stones, sandbags), and even an indoor basketball court.

I took a free trial class with the owner, Sean, and he did a wonderful job of making me feel welcome and leading my class through a full-body warm-up, technique, strength piece (back squats) and a ten minute conditioning (cardio) workout to finish things off.

The class was great, workout was tough (but manageable), and the other members were very welcoming. I can tell they have a great community that are very motivating and friendly with each other. Long story short, if you're in the area (Bronx, East Harlem, UES), I can't recommend Grit City enough. Whether you're a long time athlete or someone looking to begin their fitness journey, you won't find a better gym in the area to workout and get fit.

I went for a free class, having done strength and conditioning in the past. The trainer Q was awesome, super friendly, and helpful with workout and getting us familiar where things are located in the gym. I had the opportunity to speak to Shaun the owner as well, who also very polite and provided some tips on how I can reach my workout goals. Going back soon! I spent 3 months last year on classpass, trying all sorts of gyms in nyc.

Then I found grit city, and here i am a year and a half later, still coming. It's welcoming, effective and offers a path to fitness to everyone. The coaches are great, it's a good community, and the facility is ever expanding. Do recommend!

Concrete Jungle Grit Strength is more than a gym, it is an experience. Sean the head coach is highly professional and attentive to all students in the class. The classes are challenging and rewarding and you will never feel lost even if you are a beginner. The ambience is healthy and everyone is friendly. The location is convenient, since the 4, 5, and 2 train are only 1 block away as well as busses. My overall experience was very satisfying and I personally signed up for unlimited classes. I will recommend this crossfit location to anyone in the area or coming from the borough. Also, you will never feel crowded because this location is massive.
