About the Club

GymCats Gymnastics was founded over 30 years ago with the main goals of creating athletes as well as the foundations for them to succeed both in and out of sports. We start our classes as young as 20 months and continue to challenge them well into their teens. GymCats Gymnastics is the most modern fully equipped facility in Southern New York State. It is centrally located in Yonkers, Hastings, and Dobbs Ferry areas. Every one of our classes works to improve a student’s motor skills, body and spatial awareness, lower body strength, and upper body strength, as well as challenging their minds through various drills. Our goal at GymCats is to build a physical and mental foundation for all sports and to promote athleticism.

We were eagerly looking forward to visiting Gym Cats for my friend's son's birthday celebration. However, unfortunately, the experience was marred by the actions of the manager, which greatly disappointed all the party guests. The children were engaged in activities until 4:20, with the scheduled end time being 5pm. Following the playtime, everyone had to participate in eating, singing Happy Birthday, having cake, and cleaning up.
During the cleanup process, Susie (an older Caucasian woman), who I presume is a staff member, became extremely hostile towards us because we weren't moving quickly enough. We were doing our best to clean up efficiently while also managing a group of 15 toddlers. Her behavior was disrespectful and obnoxious, especially in front of the children, and it made everyone feel extremely uncomfortable. Even when politely asked to calm down, Susie became even more hostile and continuously reminded us of the contract, implying that we weren't moving as quickly as required.
To make matters worse, when my friend returned to tip the staff despite the unpleasant encounter with the manager, she was informed that she is now banned from Gym Cats. My friend is known for her mild-mannered nature and did not argue or become hostile with Susie. It is truly unbelievable that she is now banned from the establishment.
Even if my friend hadn't been banned, we would have no desire to return to Gym Cats after this experience. If you expect to be treated with basic decency, I would strongly advise against wasting your time at this establishment.

GymCats is fantastic. There are a variety of classes offered that are engaging and dynamic. Everyone is committed without being overly serious or hyper competitive.

My son always has a great time! He has been doing open gym since he was crawling and now he attends class! This year we did his birthday party here and he had an amazing time! Such a family friendly establishment! :)

John, Rachael and the rest of the coaches at GymCats have helped our daughter develop her individual gymnastics skills while learning how to be part of a team. I highly recommend this gym to any parents looking for a place where their kids can have fun and practice a competitive sport.

Gymcats has an amazing team of coaches that take care of your kids as they would do of their own. Our daughter loves to train there and improves class after class. It’s a great place and she never wants to leave!

I have to disagree with the negative reviews here. My son started GymCats after a friend recommended it and we’ve had a very positive experience. He loves the classes, and we’ve found the instructors, although some younger, are very engaged with the students. The activities seem age appropriate and are repeated enough for adequate practice while also incorporating new things to keep the children engaged and interested. I’ve emailed questions to the program director Rachel when needed, and she’s always been very responsive and informative. All of the staff I’ve interacted with are friendly, articulate and knowledgeable. The space is large and the class curriculum seems balanced and well planned out.

My daughter likes this but let’s face it it’s just a bunch of teenagers watching them jump around. If you’re hoping for some real gymnastics fundamentals and form I don’t think this is the place. Very disappointed that none of the trainers seem to have formal gymnastics trainer and there isn’t a supervisor on staff that is available to interact with the kids.

Would be more satisfied if the younger staff warmed up and played with the kids but then transitioned them to more experienced staff. Sometimes the younger instructors are not super attentive and I see my child spending a lot of time sitting around waiting for instructions.

I am curious to know what training looks like for them.

I also brought my daughter here and took her out. I was infuriated watching how babyish they trained my daughter… just a waste of time. Teenagers teaching the classes in a very relaxed no stress way. There’s no real training it’s basically just good if you’re looking just for an open gym experience with semi engaged instructors

This place is a waste of money. Groups are too large, trainers are just collecting the paycheck. Amateurs teenage people are training little kids. It does not look like they pay attention at all if kids are working or just standing. I’m surprised to read good comments about this place.

This is the second time I came to watch my granddaughter at gymnastics here. For a class that is only 50 minutes, they spend too much time stretching in the beginning of the class while the teenage instructors talk. It is obvious that no one is watching how the instructors are doing because some of them look like they do not want to be there. Not all of them but it makes you wish that your child is assigned to someone else who is more interactive and actually engaged. It is infuriating after all the money parents ate paying. Unless this picks up or management actually observes what is going on, we will not be signing again.

This place is great- a lot of good classes for young ones, super fun for toddlers in parent and me and nice teachers. Rachel has also been really accommodating and kind. I would recommend them- it's a great resource in Yonkers!

Contemplated registering my children for classes until I witnessed first hand the lack of safety precautions when one of my children attended a birthday party. Staff is not properly trained especially on what to do when a 15x15 inflatable bounce house suddenly deflates with a child inside. Disaster! Birthday party continued as if nothing happened and once my son was finally removed from the deflated bounce house, he was placed back in line to go on the next one. I had to physically enter the gym to check to see if he was ok. Not a single staff member checked in with me until they saw how upset I was on my way out from the party and it was in passing. Never again will I set foot through those doors.

Beyond disgusted with this place. The owner is arrogant and just rude. He is continuing to make kids wear masks even though the room that is attached is filled with adults maskless and the mandate was dropped. The hypocrisy. I would definitely look into other places. Mask issue aside, his attitude and condescending approach was deplorable and no one giving him business deserves to be treated that was.

After mask mandates were lifted the owner feels he's above the law and will keep children masked for the rest of the semester.. I had 3 kids in a vacation program and they girls leading did not know what they were doing and when asked how to do an active they had other younger kids showing them bc they couldn't do it. Also, my daughter/son attended classes and if they don't see your child have the potential they won't work with your child as much. Which i can understand but dont make it so obvious where children can feel the separation. I would of kept all that to myself and just move on but I got an email of how they will keep masking children and it's too much to just get ignored. Hope you do better for children who are sweating and working hard with a mask on. All you care about is a "contract" and not parents choice that btw many parents have pushed and work hard to get. The amount of emails and protesting to unmask our children for you to think you are above it! SHAME on you and your business.

I enrolled my daughter at Gymnastics about two years ago. She had done gymnastics for a few years prior and enjoyed it but she did want something to push her.
I have to say the staff has been great! They have really helped her grow out of her comfort zones and continue to challenge her. She always looks forward to going and even though her class ends late, she never complains.
Both she and my son have been doing the summer/holiday camps and love it!
I recommend it!

I find this place great for open play (which seems to have a very limited schedule) and average for elementary kids looking for gymnastics (at least for young boys). Primarily because the instructors are semi engaged and more importantly the management seems to be young and on a bit of a power trip.
