There are signs posted that say "NO DOGS ALLOWED ON PREMISES", yet people continually let their dogs roam free across the sand of the beach, letting them deficate on the sand without picking it up and just kicking sand over it to cover it up. I have called the Hamburg Town Police several times about incidents like these and they just don't care! There is a leash law in NY state and still these town cops don't care! Would they care if I deficated on the beach and then just covered it up with sand? Last summer, I actually stepped into dog poo with my bare feet while walking along the shore, it was gross! I felt guilty for stepping into the lake water and contaminating it while trying to rinse my feet off. Although I can think of other beaches along the lake to go for fun and relaxation that follow the leash law and posted signs, I don't often have the extra time off from my job to go out of my way to get to those beaches. I'm paying enough here in taxes and a beach permit that these laws should be followed. I think Hamburg Beach should be renamed as Doggie Doo Beach. Dog owners: Please keep our beach clean and follow the No Dogs signs.
