HOT FIT NYC is a personal training studio led by Coach Thor, Champion Fighter. Coach Thor and his team of personal trainers teach in person and virtual classes for Kickboxing, Boxing, Kickbox Yoga Flow, Martial Arts, HIIT and Strength and Conditioning. We offer group classes, one-on-one personal training and semi-private training options, in our studio, your gym or home. I recently had the opportunity to attend a kickboxing class at Hot Fit NYC, and I can honestly say that it exceeded all my expectations. At first glance, the space may seem small, but don’t let its size fool you — this is a high-energy, results-driven environment where you can get an amazing workout!

The class had around 12 participants, which I found to be a perfect size. During the session, we rotated through various stations, engaging in circuit training that targeted different techniques. It was a fantastic way to keep things dynamic and challenging. The energy in the room was palpable, and even with a full class, the workout felt personalized.

One of the standout features of my experience was Coach Thor. His passion for martial arts shines through in everything he does. You can sense that he truly breathes, eats, and sleeps this sport. He is incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated, and it shows in the way he interacts with each member of the class. If he notices that you have some skills or potential, he will enthusiastically adjust and introduce new techniques, ensuring that you get the most out of every session. I appreciated his attention to detail and encouragement — it made a significant difference in my workout.

The atmosphere at Hot Fit NYC is also worth mentioning. It’s a welcoming and friendly space where everyone seems to be there for the same reason: to improve their fitness and techniques. This sense of community really motivated me and made the experience much more enjoyable.

While the class was excellent, I did notice that in a bigger group like this one, it can be challenging for the coach to provide individualized feedback to everyone. This is why I would absolutely consider signing up for a private session in the future. I believe that the one-on-one attention would allow me to refine my skills even more effectively and gain a deeper understanding of the techniques we practice.

In terms of conditioning, I can confidently say that if you attend 3-5 classes at Hot Fit NYC consistently, you’re going to see a noticeable improvement in both your fitness level and martial arts skills. The pace and intensity of the class are designed to push you, which is exactly what I was looking for. I walked away from my kickboxing class feeling invigorated and fully energized.

Overall, my experience at Hot Fit NYC was nothing short of fantastic. From the quality of the workout and the expertise of the coach to the supportive environment among participants, I am thoroughly impressed. If you’re looking for an impactful way to get in shape while diving into the world of martial arts, I highly recommend checking out Hot Fit NYC. I can’t wait to return for more classes and to continue improving my skills!

This is the best boxing gym I’ve found in NY so far! They really care about teaching proper technique, are always open to answering your questions, and adapt training based on your needs and abilities. It’s small and hot, but it has a true fighting spirit! Coach, Linda, and the whole staff are extremely welcoming while still pushing you to your limits. Absolutely recommended — 6 out of 5!

I've trained with Coach Thor in the boxing and MMA classes for a year and a half now. The classes are challenging and you'll feel the workouts, but the key thing is that he's always there to give you personal attention and make sure you're improving. If there's a specific weakness, he'll work with you on it.

Wow. I’ve trained with 3 other MMA professionals but never one like Coach Thor. I’m 64 years old and he has modified my training like no one else. I have been able to learn, grow my skills and get a great workout in with him. And his variety of teachable styles is unmatched. Boxing, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Weestling Muay Thai. Thor is the real deal. He knows what he’s doing. Had my first workout with him after a 5 month break from kickboxing and we did an hour on the mitts and it was a great workout. Coach Thor is THE BEST: passionate, motivating, and an exemplary boxer and MMA fighter whose classes are welcoming, challenging - in a good way! - for beginners and advanced students. I have been taking classes at Hot Fit NYC for several months, and the classes are really great for learning a new skill and getting a great workout in! Working out with either Coach Thor or Jamie is great - they’re incredibly knowledgeable and easy to learn from. They’re hands on when you need them to be, and the classes are small enough that everyone gets some personalized attention during each round.

All of their classes (kickboxing, boxing, and MMA) are engaging, sweaty, and fun! I feel that I have learned a lot of new skills and would recommend this gym to anyone!

Hot Fit NYC is a new studio on UES that have become local favorite within their first year. Coach Jamie and Coach Thor are two experienced coaches with tenacious work ethic and unmatched sense of humor, who have created a unique studio with friendly and encouraging yet challenging atmosphere.

The studio covers a wide range of sports: from kickboxing, to MMA, to yoga and OCR. The group classes feel like personal training sessions, because of coaches’ high level of engagement with the class and personalized creative approach to each student.

I came to the studio not having any specific fitness goal in mind and did not know what to expect, but coaches put together a custom work plan for me combining group and private trainings. After attending the studio for just a few months I am very happy with the result. Being new to kickboxing it was a journey for me to learn new moves, but now I feel quite confident and really enjoy these classes. I love going there not just because of the intense level of workouts but also because of the positive energy boost that I get from the fun group of people there. This is a unique place and I feel very lucky to have them nearby!

Joseph (HotFitNYC) teaches the best Boxing/Kickboxing classes you'll find in NYC. Regardless of whether you're a newbie or advanced, you'll definitely enjoy his classes.

Both in-person and online, he does an awesome job of keeping you motivated while you get a great workout. Plus, you actually learn stuff throughout the class as opposed to others out there where you're just flailing around the whole time with no purpose.

I’ve known Coach Thor for many years, taking in person group classes with him. His expertise in boxing/kickboxing/martial arts coupled with his demanding/supportive manner makes for a sweat producing experience. He always adds moves and combinations to his classes. When COVID hit, it was a blessing to have him return to my life, in the HOT FIT NYC iteration, along with his co-coaches Jamie and Cotto to continue to provide a space (albeit at home) to continue to training. The classes have been broken up into “rounds” where in each round we practice combinations, followed by a cardio exercise. Rounds are led by any and all of the coaches. The ❤️ has been pumping and the sweat has been flowing. Now that the classes are outside, participants can attend virtually or in person (with proper precautions). The coaches are all encouraging and supportive. Highly recommended.

He challenges us in sessions that include cardio, strength/core training, and kickboxing drills. Mindful of different skill levels, Coach Thor effortlessly offers modifications so that even a beginner is getting an intense workout.

The virtual and in-person outdoor group classes offered by Team HOT FIT NYC have also been fun, especially with all of the coaches providing guided assistance throughout.

Thanks to his incredible knowledge of nutrition & fitness, I have successfully lost weight and reached a level of fitness I previously thought was unattainable. As a direct result of training with Coach Thor, I have become healthier, stronger, confident and more disciplined!

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I hate working out if only I could wave a magic wand and make myself LOVE training??” This is the story of my life. It is the story of many. Classes rock and one on one training is the best I’ve experienced in 7 years (tried 3 different coaches). They listen. They customize to what you are trying to accomplish and they actually care about their students. I get calls in the evenings to see how I’m doing...who does that???
