After years of practicing yoga I am looking for an experience. Julie's classes meet all of my needs. Regarding the physical practice her classes teach us to have a better understanding of our bodies , what we are capable of and what is safe. And it is always fun, interesting and different! Regarding our minds there are always lessons that help us use this practice to relax, to think differently, to be curious and real. Regarding our hearts she creates an environment of safety that enables us to feel. Regarding the space there is a sense of community that feels warm, inviting and comforting. Any level belongs in this space as Julie meets every students needs. I am so grateful that Identity Yoga is in my community!

There aren’t words to describe this yoga studio. It’s like walking into the most cozy atmosphere, where real work gets done and lots of laughter. Julie is an exceptional instructor, she provides variations for poses, uses the right amount of props - which is many - to ease you into relaxation and release, or help to allow your spine to find its true length. Her attention to detail and hands on approach is so different than so many other classes/instructors I’ve experienced. I have back pain. Julie’s classes makes that pain less and less. And is teaching me that I can continue to find that ease. Sign up for a class or 10, go to a retreat… you’ll be happy.

Ahhh - A yoga class with Julie makes my body feel taller and my mind feel clearer. Julie’s classes are a hybrid with a focus on alignment. Each class is unique; I've never been met with the same old routine. Julie skillfully guides all through their practice, intuitively knowing where each student is at, challenging without pushing too far. Come join a class! Be prepared to focus and work hard, and you will reap the rewards. Julie’s warmth and support will make you smile and feel welcome, no matter your level.

I stopped practicing for several years because of the pandemic, and I was pretty nervous to get back into yoga because I had lost so much strength and flexibility. But something Julie says all the time that made me feel right at home in her classes is "there's a reason it's called a practice." You don't need to be able to do all the classic yoga poses perfectly. In fact in some classes, we don't do any of the classic yoga poses at all! Every class is different and is about exploring how we can move to keep our bodies healthy using any prop or movement that gives you new information. (With a little bit of mindfulness on top.) It doesn't hurt that her studio is gorgeous and sometimes she has an adorable pup around to give you kisses after you say namaste.

Julie is a gem. She's a world class teacher, and I feel very fortunate to have found her and her studio. Her teaching method reminds me of the best Iyengar teachers, and she encourages a general atmosphere of curiosity and exploration. The other students are welcoming and kind. The studio itself is a sweet space with really good energy. Ten out of ten stars!

I've been on about 4 or so yoga retreats with Julie and each one is better than the last. I really enjoy her classes because I get a deeper understanding of what yoga really is (spoiler alert: it's not about landing a perfect pose) and how I can transfer what I learn on the mat to my daily life.

Julie has created such a warm and beautiful environment to practice yoga. Her classes and retreats are filled with lightness and humor, and reminders to be easy on yourself while always reaching a little further toward curiosity. She's an incredibly supportive teacher giving personal attention and tailoring each practice to those present. This is by far the best yoga experience Ive ever had and I'm so grateful to be part of this community.

I'm so glad I found Julie/Identity Yoga. It's a beautiful space with a warm community and Julie is such an observant and attentive teacher. Her adjustments, both verbal and hands-on, are always on point. Class descriptions are accurate yet there's also just the right amount of surprise/unpredictability. Thoughtful playlists don't hurt either :)
As a body worker I look for a place where I feel comfortable and am able to grow in my yoga practice, as well as feel confident in referring clients. Identity Yoga is absolutely that.

I have finally found my yoga studio! From someone who went from playing intense sports, to completing a 200hr YTT, I could not be happier with finding this space, community, and Julie. I struggled to find a studio that I felt drawn to practice in on a regular basis. Each week I look forward to the exceptionally intentional playful classes that spark joy, curiosity, and laughter. My mind and body are feeling more aligned than ever! Striking a routine with Julie has made all of the difference in my practice - she knows me, which I think is one of the most important connections we can create in a yoga practice, a back and forth between student and teacher and as Julie puts it an exchange of ideas, not answers. What I love about her classes is that they feel strong, focusing on alignment and breath work, they vary every time we have class, her cues are specific, props are sequenced in a way that makes sense and she takes the time to modify and adjust me in a way where I have a lot of 'Ahhhhhh' moments. Julie is authentic, kind, knowledgeable, and so welcoming. So unbelievably grateful and thankful to have found this sweet spot. Thank you for holding space for me to fall back in love with my practice.

Julie has created a warm space that's incredibly welcoming. I've taken a few classes at Identity Yoga, the meditation class is my favorite -- it balances physical and mental exercises. This class is ideal for anyone who is reluctant to meditate.

I have only been to two other Yoga studios. This is by far the best experience I have ever had! I have painful back issues that no medical Doctor has been able to help with. Julie has given me hope that I can not only find relief but I see a path to continuing health and fitness in my future. The attention and experience Julie has is unparalled. The personal attention is unlike I have experienced in any profession. If you have back pain or if you don't , don't wait get to a class. Change your future! See you there.

I've been doing yoga in Julie's classes for a few years now, whether in a city studio or on zoom and now in this Rosendale space. I attend a class 3 or 4 times a week and none of them are the same - the sequencing and variety of movement and stillness always makes my day better. I especially like the focus on strength and alignment and the explanation of how different movements or breathing techniques benefit the body and mind. Even though I am mostly online as part of a hybrid class, her spoken cues, demonstrations and attention to those on camera as well as in the studio is great. And it means I can benefit from practicing regularly from my own home. When I do visit the space, the group of people that regularly attend have become great friends and classmates so as well as holding poses we often have a bit of a laugh about something or take a pause to workshop something at someone's request or even jump up and down a bit to release energy. Then have a coffee or wine or walk in the village afterwards! Highly recommend! Do yourself a favor and even start small, pick one of the classes and commit to yourself to attend once a week, you'll feel different.

I learned to love yoga from Julie. She is an exceptional teacher and has created a beautiful space. This is not your typical, ‘same old same old’, yoga class. Every class is unique, challenging and fun. Julie brings something new to each one. Come practice with us.

This is a wonderful gem of a yoga studio. The space is both chic and calming. And Julie is not your average yoga teacher. Each student will feel individually adressed in her classes. I highly recommend for beginner to advanced practicers.

I have been attending Julie’s quality studio classes and retreats for several years. Julie creates a perfect experience of mind, body, and soul therapy. She carefully plans structure but allows for flexibility in the plan ensuring everyone’s needs are met. You’ll stretch, you’ll dance it off a little, and learn some crafty ways to use a litany of props to help massage away the stiffness and expand. The space is a representation of her style that welcomes all to engage and interact. Not your typical run in and out yoga class, you may wind up leaving with a fresh juice, a new item from her stylish shop, a memorable chat on couch with a new friend, words of inspiration, and always with a great big hug from the most warmest, welcoming, gracious Julie.

Since joining Identity Yoga, I’ve found a group of people who feel like family. Julie is inspiring, grounded, and caring. Regardless of your ‘level’ you are welcomed with open arms to every class. The studio feels cozy and inviting. Identity Yoga transforms my day, and if you’ve found Julie, you’re lucky. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to regularly practice yoga while exercising my mind and spirit. AND there’s always tea. There’s really nothing more you can ask for.

After years of neglecting my yoga practice, and having tried several of the studios in the area with little success, I am now so glad, and relieved, to have found a “home” with Julie and Identity Yoga. She is creating a truly special community in this sweet space - a place to learn, to be safe, to be brave, and to grow at your pace, in your own way. Compassion, authenticity, and fun are at the heart here, and that is because of who Julie is at her core. Those qualities, coupled with her incredible expertise and high bar of excellence for herself as a teacher, makes Identity Yoga truly the best. Julie is not your guru - she is the one who will help you find guru in yourself.
