This gym continue to improve over the years. It's consistently clean, and the staff is amazing, especially the owner, Chad! there are lots of different spaces for a more private workout. And I love the big windows by the cardio equipment.

Ignite Fitness is everything you want in a gym: great equipment, a clean and spacious layout, and a welcoming, down-to-earth community. The staff is always willing to help, and the vibe is perfect whether you're lifting heavy, training for performance, or just staying active. Can’t recommend it enough!

This gym is a true hidden gem in the community! Owned and run by a new Paltz native you can really feel the difference that comes from supporting a small, locally-owned business. The owner genuinely cares about his members and it shows—the staff is friendly and the gym environment is clean, welcoming, and motivating.

Ignite Fitness is a great locally-owned gym. The owner, Chad, is so nice, supportive, and just an all-around great guy. I started my fitness journey as a front desk worker at Ignite and just fell in love with the atmosphere, both as a worker and as a lifter/runner. All the workers are friendly and helpful. This gym, although small, has everything you need for your workout. There are no "gym bros" in this gym. Just local, friendly people. I also highly recommend working with Jen the personal trainer. I love using Ignite and I recommend it to everyone I know who lives in New Paltz.

Great gym owned by a neighbor and friend.
Has been an integral part of the health of the community for years. Never hesitate to support a local business person when you can, especially one as invested in community as Chad

I feel lucky to have Ignite in our town. I love this gym, it has a small town feel and the owner and staff really care. The people who go here are really friendly. The equipment is great and so are the TV's! I use the weight room regularly and have been coming here for many years. It is a great gym in my opinion and definitly worth the membership fee.

Never have had a better experience at Ignite! Great people, amazing staff, very affordable, has all the equipment you need, and has an amazing locker room. It’s a place that really cares about their members and doesn’t try to deceive their members like 90% of gyms. Couldn’t recommend this place more, it’s a New Paltz staple!

I have been coming to this gym since 2021! I love the atmosphere and it is usually never super crowded. They are doing renovations upstairs and making brand new locker rooms! It’s clean and the staff and owner are always very kind. Would recommend!

How lucky we are to have a 24 hour gym in town! I primarily lift weights and they have a good variety of equipment in that department. I only go in the early morning and find it to be not too crowded. Since I go during unstaffed hours I mostly deal with staff via email. Which are courteous and prompt. My only wish is that they add another cable crossover machine. I always recommend Ignite for folks looking to get a membership to a local gym.

Ignite Fitness is hands down the best gym I've ever been to in New Paltz. A true gym goers gym in an extremely convenient location. Great staff and a strong community

I chose to work out here because it’s a convenient location for me and I wanted to support local establishment. If you go in the morning it’s usually great. Older folks who mind their business and are quiet.
The equipment is ok but not a great variety and missing more than one machine I would regularly use.
However, I’m considering leaving. If I have to go in the afternoon it’s nearly intolerable. I wish they would encourage and enforce some level of etiquette especially with the large population of college students in the afternoons.
I am a pretty chill person and have compassion for younger folks but the lack of consideration that these kids have for other folks in the gym is shocking. They flood in the afternoons and are loud, disruptive, crowding other folks space, having conversations across the gym.
I’ve had to ask for space many times for kids just sitting having a loud conversation nearly on top of me.
There are some signs posted about dropping weights and stuff but there seems to be no guidelines on etiquette and it’s just an awful place to work out in the afternoon because of this.
For the price I want a shower and better equipment and atmosphere.

Went here so that I could get some peace and quiet and it was the opposite. The “janitor” who didn’t tell me at first if he worked there made me and my wife extremely uncomfortable. First he walked in as I was recording my bench set to send to my coach saying he doesn’t want to be on camera and they never used to allow cameras, but they do now, just ranting. There was no reason for him to walk in front of me and my camera I was doing this exercise. He proceeded to stare at us afterwards, we put our weights back and cleaned up. on our way out of the room he touched my wife for no reason. In the next room after my last set of back extensions he said are you done with that? Didn’t even give me a chance to put it back. I said yes I just finished give me a second. I approached him at the end of our workout asking him if he worked there. He was reluctant to tell me and asked why I wanted to know. I said because you’re following us around making us uncomfortable. I told him that we always put our weights back, and he doesn’t need to follow me to make sure. It seems like he was friendly with the men in the gym, I guess not the women. I won’t be back.

24hr key fob entry is fantastic. Good set of all the fundamental weights and machines. The only mark against it is that it's small enough that going during peak hours can feel like a waste of time because everything is taken.

AWESOME! Great space, very inviting and helpful staff and members! Love the fact that they’re open 24/7, have 2 Dumbbell racks, variety of bands and multiple different types of barbells! All around great gym, if you’re in the area forget the other gyms, this is your spot!

I like the gym, some dated equipment but overall a reasonable assortment of benches, weights, machines. The reason I’m only giving 2 stars is the lack of a shower. I sweat when I work out and prefer to shower before going about my day after the gym. I asked and they haven’t had a working shower in several months and “plan to have it fixed by the end of the year”. I understand it is a costly repair but the showers are an important part of the gym process. You use the weights and machines to build up a sweat and the showers to clean up. They shouldn’t wait to fix them. They should take out a loan if needed to finance the repair if the owners don’t have the cash on hand.

I was a member a decade ago and am currently a member again. Convenient location is at the top of the list for reasons to come here, and might be the end of the list. The sauna and locker rooms have been "out of order" for months- and I don't believe there is any timeline for completion because I don't believe they are being worked on as nothing has changed since I rejoined 2 months ago. I would rate it higher if the basic amenities were in order.

I Was enjoying this gym as they had a month to month pay option no contract. I Did not want to sign a contract for the entire year as I was not sure if I would be in the area a year from now. No paperwork just paid for the month went in and started the treadmill. Noone showed me how to use any of the equipment noone showed me around. Nothin just walk in figure it all out on your own. Oook. So I was enjoying the treadmills and the low key atmosphere. Not crowded all the time 8am when i usually went. I had gotten sick with Bronchitis for a couple weeks did not go in. When I returned I told the receptionist I would like to pay for my next month. She had told me I would have to pay an extra $20.00 on top of my fee and it would only cover the rest of the month i was already in. Bringing my total to $60.00 WHAT!! I told her I did not have a contract no papers were signed that i was doing month to month. I was never told of any late fees. I was standing there dumbfounded. She stated there is still a late fee and I would have to pay in order to return. She stated she was sorry noone explained this to me when i started. Which I believe was her that took my first initial payment info. You give them your payment you sign your receipt which i used my credit card and that is the only paper work you sign. I was on a roll at the gym and I really was losing weight with the daily treadmill activity when I was going. Sooo stupid came out and I agreed to pay. I went several weeks after that and in my mind every single time I went back i had the most uncomfortable feeling just annoyed they do that to people. I was one of the people they got over on. I paid $60.00 for a month to work out on a treadmill at this gym. I am sure there are many other people that this had happened to and decided not to return. I have not returned and will not be going back. Total Rip off! If you do decide to use this gym. Sign up for reoccuring payments so it comes out each month.... sooo you are not LATE on your payment.... Even though there is no contract and you are paying month to month...if that makes any sense 😐

I was with this gym for about two years. It is clean, comfortable and has friendly staff. I moved out of the area and forgot to cancel my membership. I called the gym, let them know when I moved out of the area and they cancelled it right over the phone. They didnt eventry to charge me for the months I wasnt in New Paltz anymore. They are customer oriented and I had a great experice at this gym.

Old equipment, out of shape, useless staff, lots of SUNY students and old people. Membership is expensive for what you get. I stayed a year because I paid for it, but had absolutely no inclination to pay for another one. It's a real shame since the location has lots of potential, but the owner won't invest in it. Mike Arteaga's on 299 is much better.
