Every session is tailored to individual goals, strengths, and areas that need improvement. Instead of being just another face in a crowded class, you will feel seen, supported, and guided.

The semi-private setup creates the perfect balance—there’s enough space and attention to work on technique and growth, but still the motivation and energy that comes from training alongside others. Joining Iron Monkey Strength has been the best decision I have made with regard to my health, I am now finishing my third month and am starting to see gains in strength and stamina and learning the full scope of strength training and conditioning, the coaching staff are friendly, knowledgeable and are invested in improving and making this gym and great place to work out. I’ve been going to Iron Monkey Strength for over a year now. I had been looking for a place to improve my form so that I could strength train without worrying about getting hurt. Great gym for experienced and newbies
I was very reluctant about weight lifting
I had issues and bad experiences in th past with gyms and personal training
But iron monkey is different
Jason adapts to your limits and needs and is extremely helpful in making every workout feel like you learned something and not just lifting weights. It’s almost a science for him and I appreciate that kind of knowledge from a trainer.

My life is FOREVER changed for the best thanks to Jason and his crew at Iron Monkey Strength. I did not know what to expect but this is DEFINITELY not the typical gym mentality. The community here is BAR NONE above all the memberships that I have had like with Planet Fitness, LA Fitness, etc. This is a community of skilled trainers that walk you through your workout, understanding each individuals strength and building on that. This community is about helping each other reach the next level of health, with constant encouragement and building the confidence of pushing past barriers and achieving whole body health. The trainers are vested in your health journey, it’s not about stats here but about achieving and understanding the benefits of strength training. It not about reps, but more about form and safety. I joined Iron Monkey in January, the coaches are great, the gym is clean, and the focus is quality over quantity. This means they focus on your form from the warm up through your entire work out. They even assist in addressing injuries that you point out to them .
Last but not least they have a body scan so just when I didn't think I was making progress after 2 months based on my scale; my body fat % has decreased and my muscle mass increased .

The Iron Monkey team are absolutely amazing! They are dedicated, thorough, and so motivating! While I've grown up being an athlete, I've never liked going to the stereotypical gym where I feel like I'm being judged on how I use the machines or do exercises. This gym is so welcoming and inclusive with no fears of judgement if you aren't sure how to do an exercise or have a question! Jason is also amazing at adapting to your individual needs and physical restrictions and always has a great workout ready for you. He never makes you feel judged or discouraged if your can't do something, he finds something you can do so you can keep striving to reach your goals. The apps that the Iron Monkey use are so helpful on tracking workouts and giving Jason notes on how the workout went so that he can continue to track your progress even if you saw a different instructor at your class. The app is also convenient for scheduling your time at the gym. Iron Monkey is one of the best true no judgement gyms in the area that truly want to see you reach your goals and will help you achieve them.

My husband and I joined Iron Monkey for over a month now. Before we joined, we actually have been working with another personal trainer in another gym for a few weeks. We scheduled a trial with Jason and he showed us the training plan, how the app will help us record and track each exercise we did and how that could provide meaningful insights for him to adjust our program. This immediately attracted us because we like this structured approach that we’re clear about the goal and each step to get there. In the past few weeks, we enjoyed each class. Jason and Anthony are tremendously knowledgeable about each exercise and keen to watch our posture and correct us right away to make sure we’re doing every single exercise in the right way so we don’t hurt ourselves. They’re genuinely interested in helping us and unrelentingly encourage us. Although I’m not a very active person, I don’t feel being judged and I’m very comfortable to tell them what I can’t do and they always adapt to my ability. I really appreciate it! The gym is very clean and tidy! Every member we’ve met is friendly. Some of them stay with the gym for quite a few years. It feels like a home to them. I hope we can keep working here with Jason and become stronger and healthier! Highly recommended!

When I moved back to New York I was looking to find a gym that would push me, feel like a close knit community and most importantly work with trainers that are experts and “nerds” in their field. Iron Monkey fulfilled all of that criteria.

I have a super stressful job that prevents me from learning everything I can to achieve my goals. The personalized programs and expertise and knowledge that the iron monkey team possesses is leagues beyond trainers I’ve worked with before. Each trainer brings something different to the table and the collaborative training environment is very unique and appreciated.

I started my journey in February. Stopped because...life, but the trainers still kept on contact encouraging me. The atmosphere is friendly yet not annoyingly so. There are group classes, but people there also do their own regimen. Everyone is respectful and encouraging. My experience at Iron Monkey was brief due to scheduling changes at work. You couldn't ask for a more supportive and judgment free environment. Classes were small and always a trainer there to help you and give one on one advise. I went through the Iron Monkey rite of passage program. Despite my inconsistency it was a good place for a beginner like myself. Training there felt informative and their was always a close instructional aspect to their format. Their space is a good format for small group or solo training. As a noob my experience was welcoming and comfortable. There's a nice sense of community at IM, which makes it feel inclusive for beginners and regulars. If you are a beginner or a novice at basic lifts, I promise you can’t go wrong with Iron Monkey. I had been working on issues with my confidence, and I had read a lot of great things about the facility. After undergoing the trial with Jared and Jason, I made the decision to undergo the “Rite of Passage”. I love this place. I have never been so consistent with going to a gym. Your workouts are pre-planned for you. I like how you can schedule the days you want to come in, so it keeps you on track. All the trainers are knowledgeable and friendly. They train you on how to perform different exercises with barbells and kettlebells. They make sure you are doing the exercises with the correct form. I finished my rite of passage and I’m still here. I have no plans of stopping or going elsewhere. Iron Monkey Strength, has definitely been one of my favorite places to train for multiple reasons. The environment is a clean and great one with all the needed equipment, even some you won’t see in other facilities. I started off wanting to know more about the kettlebell and continue to learn how to use it daily and not only was I able to learn them proper use and technique but always had a watchful eye from the coaches, always correcting and fixing things I wouldn’t other wise catch. So much more is also offered as well, and have found myself being intrigued in everything they have to offer with the same goal of becoming stronger in all of them. One of the other big things that really attracted me here is their care for movement health and improving it regardless of age or body, really pushing for overall health benefits. The coaches are also some of the best people i’ve ever interacted with, and enjoy that they’re willing to share knowledge whenever I nerd out about anything. Something else that needs to be said about IMS is the community within it, you really get to know everyone and make great connections and friendships which I find to be so important in continuing to stay motivated!

I experienced a life-changing wake-up call by finding Iron Monkey Strength. I am no stranger to gym memberships. However, in the past, most of the workout activity was related to “payment activity” for membership fees. Exemplary Leadership & Experienced Team – It all starts at the top! The owner Jason Giles executes a well-oiled machine to run his business smoothly. It is a breath of fresh air to see Jason actively demonstrating the belief in his mission to make Iron Monkey Strength “a place of learning, practice, and improvement.” He is not just doing a drive by to follow a trend or using business tactics to take money from clients. He is relatable and truly cares about helping and supporting people to accomplish their goals. Jason has built a highly experienced team of personal trainers/coaches. This team has synergy to work with diverse individuals at different fitness levels. Collectively, the entire team has over 56 years of experience!

Customized Programs – The programs are designed to accommodate individuals at different fitness levels and life circumstances. Are you trying to get back in the swing of things after an injury or illness in a safe and effective way? Are you looking for an environment to better support your fitness goals? Are you a pre-beginner who has no clue, experienced workout maniac, or a professional athlete? I have seen where Iron Monkey Strength staff has catered to all these groups and more. Yes, I do observe a lot because it really inspires me to stay on track and improve.

Educational Coaching – The coaches do their jobs so naturally and with so much patience. I am still amazed that they are able to tolerate me because I definitely required a lot of work. I really appreciate their attention to details, focus on proper form, helping me understanding background, and ways to progress towards the best outcome. Supportive Colleagues – This is far from an intimidating environment! We have fun while working through our programs. Most importantly, we encourage each other, share tips that work, and very complementary of everyone’s achievements. This creates a strong collegial network that helps with support and accountability.

Clean Environment – I am that person whose skin crawls and itch just by looking at a dirty place. Fortunately, this has not happened at Iron Monkey Strength because they maintain a clean environment. The clients also follow the protocols to clean equipment and work out area after each use.

Where do I start?!?
When I began my journey into the “Rite of Passage”, I had no idea what I was doing or even in for. I had never lifted a kettlebell or done barbell work before. I wasn’t sure if I was cut out for this type of workout.
With only a few workouts left to complete my first 12 weeks, I can honestly tell you, it’s been INCREDIBLE!!! This program has exceeded my expectations! I have become more confident with my lifting and my kettlebell work! I’ve gotten stronger and feel like I am ready for more challenges!
The absolute BEST PART about this entire journey is the sense of COMMUNITY!!! Everyone goes through the “Rite of Passage” and cheers each other on!!! It’s an extension of FAMILY!

From the moment I stepped foot in Jason’s gym to compete in the Spring 2021 TSC, I loved what I saw! I could write an extensive review of Jason and his team but don’t want this to fall into TL;DR territory…

So here goes, Jason and his team are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and certified coaches who work with a client base of all levels and experience - they are excellent at taking novice gym-goers and lifters and teaching them to access high level Kettlebell, Bodyweight and Olympic Lifting Technique. The vibe at Iron Monkey is never heavy/intimidating and for coaches that carry the level of certification and education they do, they don’t take themselves too seriously and keep the mood (but not the weight) light!

For people that are looking for a StrongFirst affiliated gym and coaches, I can say as a fellow StrongFirst coach these guys uphold the standards to a T.

This place really has the formula down to help you get the results you strive for in a realistic way. Working out is a lifestyle. Not a fad. I was very overweight and dealing with Covid long haulers symptoms (had covid 2x). After 2 months of changing my eating habits, I decided to try something I've never tried before and began the 3 month training program with Iron Monkey Strength. If one dedicates themselves to the program and continues a healthy lifestyles outside of the gym, you WILL get the results you want. I lost over 20lbs my body fat % went down several points. Iron Monkey Strength is by far the best gym I've ever joined! They specialize in functional fitness similar to CrossFit. However, unlike CrossFit, they focus on proper form and never compromise proper technique to satisfy your ego. Training and being healthy is a lifestyle and a healthy lifestyle is made of healthy habits. Burning yourself out every day is not one of those habits. The exercises and skills that they teach you will improve your standard of living for the rest of your life.

Whether you are a beginner looking to make a change in your lifestyle or advanced lifter looking to increase your max lifts or an older person looking to gain some more strength to improve your daily life, Iron Monkey Strength customize a program to help you reach your goals. For beginners, they offer a three month program called the Rite of Passage that teaches you all the basic movements you need to improve your strength. They use kettlebells and barbells as their main tools. For someone who has experience already in lifting they have an expedited program for 2 months, which is what I went through. The point of these programs is to make sure you have the proper foundations so you don’t get injured. After the foundation is in place, the power house then gets built. Healthy habits.

I am 28 and I've been training here for the past 7 months and this is the first time in the past decade that I've been able to train consistently. I've sustained multiple injuries in my past (two torn ACLs, an easily dislocated shoulder), and in the past 10 year I have always ran into to problems that disrupts my training and progress. Iron Monkey Strength is a phenomenal strength training gym with an emphasis on individualized personal training and teaching technique, form, and maximizing results. Everyone who joins must go through the Monkey Rite of Passage - a 12 week, 3x/week regimented program to familiarize yourself with all the basics of Strong First kettlebell training, barbell work, and strength training/conditioning in general. They also put a strong emphasis on recovery and mobility/stretching which has meant zero injuries even while using new equipment and doing exercises I've never done before. While expensive, it is more than worth the price given how much I have learned, how far I've progressed from when I joined and how excited I am to continue to train with them and progress further. Every single person I've spoken to who has joined the gym shares this feeling. It is a welcoming, positive, safe, and clean atmosphere with almost never more than 5 people training at once and coaches always on hand. Speaking of which Jason, Jesse and Rob are stellar. You'll carry what you learn from them in this gym for the rest of your life, but I can pretty much guarantee that once you join, you won't want to leave.

If you’re interested in lifting as a beginner or just want to improve your strength and health I highly recommend this gym. The gym is clean and organized and while it is a small space, it makes up for it in the close knit community it builds that you wouldn’t typically get in a large scale corporation gym. I went to this gym knowing nothing and now I came out of their Rite of Passage program stronger and feeling better about myself. While it is not the cheapest gym out there you pay for quality, safe training with coaches who know what they’re doing and who really do work with you and cater to your goals. Jason has created a great welcoming and friendly environment where good form and technique are prioritized. Both Jason and Jesse take a lot of time demonstrating how to perform each movement and ensure that you understand how to perform each exercise to the best of your ability. Iron Monkey is a great and welcoming facility. They focus on strength and power lifts and a lot of great kettlebell training. Upon joining, you are put through a 12-week Rite of Passage where you learn multiple kettlebell and barbell lifts. After completing, you gain an open lift pass where you are free to train with supervision from Jason and Jesse.

Jason is a very passionate, educated, encouraging trainer, always pushing you to be the best you can be, safely of course. He is always either teaching clients, correcting form, or giving you that needed moral support. Jesse is another trainer that is very supportive and knowledgeable, as well. He shows a lot of positive attitude and support for his clients.

This facility is good for people learning to lift and improving their overall strength. I first joined Iron Monkey as an intern for my major at Queens College and grew to love the environment and training techniques. Now that I completed my hours, I continue my training and will be looking forward to what lies ahead for me. I would highly recommend to friends and family.

Come for the fundamentals, stay for the community.

Iron Monkey Strength is a strength training gym. You wont find your typical cardio machines, dumbbells, selectorized machines or mirrors. Inside, however, is an array of kettle bells from 6kg to 48kg, three racks, and two stations for deadlifting. There is also tons of accessory equipment for mobility and recovery (bands, foam rollers, massagers) and an InBody scale.

The gym is also loaded with proper sanitary standards. There are multiple cleaning stations with spray bottles and wipes for the equipment, an easy to use mop cleaner for matts, and upon entering a sign in for contract tracing, and a temperature check. Free masks are available if you forgot yours. They also offer two single bathrooms equipped with the best smelling soap.

The trainers here have experience, knowledge, and most importantly a desire to see their students grow. They offer a 12-week training program for beginners to learn all the typical strength workouts with kettle bells (swings, cleans, push press, Turkish getups) and barbell (squat, deadlift, bench press, military press). Upon completion of the program you are then able to sign up as an open lifter allowing you to follow a more specialized program where (with the knowledge you've learned) workout on your own but still have the supervision of the trainers to guide, similar to that of a traditional dojo classroom.

But what keeps me coming back is the great environment and friends I've made a long away. We all support each other when lifting, talk about good habits to maintain, and have a great time.

As someone who has struggled with health and fitness for most of my life; going to and quitting many gyms and training facilities, then having the motivation and losing it shortly after. Joining Iron Monkey Strength was the best decision I've made in the last 10 years. Why? Three reasons:

1. The people. Jason and Jesse are a class act; their knowledge of, and passion for, physical culture and strength training was evident from my first moments speaking with them. They were there with me every step of the way through my Rite of Passage, even going so far as to keep the gym open late to accommodate my busy schedule.

2. The process. Through working with Jason and Jesse, I've acquired a very broad strength training skillset (single- and double-kettlebell work + all major barbell powerlifts) in a very short period of time. Most importantly, I can perform each of these lifts in a safe and sustainable manner as to mitigate the risk of injury.

3. The results. COVID-19 has had an impact on us all, both mentally and physically. Due to the sedentary nature of my job, I put on 10 pounds. After my three-day-a-week Rite of Passage was all said and done, I dropped had 6 pounds of fat and gained 5 pounds of muscle.

I'm excited to continue my journey with Iron Monkey Strength as a certified Open Lifter, and am looking forward to competing in my first-ever competition in April 2021!

This is a great place to work out. The trainers are very knowledgeable and will help you reach your fitness goals. This is the place to go for your strength training!
