I had an awesome experience at LA Fitness. The place is super clean, the equipment is all in great condition, and there’s plenty of room to move around without feeling crowded. Whether you’re lifting, doing cardio, or just getting some stretches in, it’s easy to find your own space and get in the zone.

The staff was chill and helpful, and the energy in the gym was on point — everyone doing their thing, focused and respectful. I really like that you can just come in, handle your business, and not feel rushed or bothered.

I have been going here for a couple years now. I was able to get great work in for basketball seasons and what not. Went down hill for a bit, but within the last 6 months it has been much cleaner! I see this one cleaner guy working quite a bit, I believe his name is Tim! He’s a hard worker and quite a nice guy cracking jokes and making sure things are well kept! He’s the only good one there.

I was a member of LA fitness on Transit Rd for the past year during my time living in East Amherst. Brad, Nate, Lily and the rest of the staff are incredibly welcoming, kind and hardworking. In the end, gym etiquette comes down to the members being responsible and it requires all of us cleaning equipment and racking the weights after each use. The staff does a great effort at maintaining it clean and organized. I would definitely go back to this location if I were to move back to the area in the future. Keep on the good work, guys!

Edit, added a few stars because the gym manager Brad has shown a massive effort to improve the gym. It's got a long way to go, and other parents in the area still won't sign up here because of the kids club hours, but it's getting better

This gym used to have a lane pool, and hot tub. There used to be classes. Kids club has drastically reduced hours. And, they're charging new members 2x what they used to. It's post-pandemic, sure you can justify charging more, but only if you fully open back up again

Kids club hours were cut significantly right before Chrismas. Now they are only open 4 days/week for 3 hours per day. December is a busy month with sickness and holidays so I don’t understand why they cut the hours out of no where. I really don’t want to switch to the ymca but really considering it now. There's a lot of broken machines. Some machines say scheduled for service and have for over a year. They closed the pool and spa. It doesn't feel very clean, especially the locker rooms and sauna. The staff is great though and earned that second star!

The women lockers and the bathrooms are disgusting , at the meantime when I was seating in the spa, supposedly enjoying the hot water, suddenly noticed ants are walking around my neck!! And the inside of the spa and the pool is yellow and dirty. I reported the lockers and ants situation to the staff in the front desk, but when I was there on Wednesday “ which is the day after cleaning!!” It was the same!!! It is terrible experience for me to be in the spot located in the best area in Buffalo, and not feel safe health wise. One more concern is you can’t leave your stuff in the locker and lock it!!! If you guys clean the locker it is fine, but if i have to spend time with cleaning the locker every time, it is not acceptable. And there is no wet wipes to clean the locker, you have to take with you all cleaning stuff as well!! Such a terrible experience. I am looking for somewhere else. They not worth even one star

Pros: like the space, in general the equipment is pretty good, sauna is always hot!
Cons: poorly run facility, the same equipment has been broken since we joined in march with parts just laying on the floor, and I pay extra for daycare services but they really screw your day when you show up with your child and it’s closed, no in app notifications or email blasts for people to plan. The excuse is the same every time, they only have one person for daycare, which is basically a single point of failure for that business line (yes it’s a business line bc we pay extra for it) and all I get is “it’s not our fault” well I disagree, or at least have proper notifications in place so members can plan accordingly. It’s weird they don’t offer any towels when they have full shower and pool facilities. Also, annoyed they have a late opening on weekends at 7am. Not many options around here so I guess I’ll see how long u til I switch again.

This gym is terrible. They don’t invest in new equipment, or new attachments, and machines are constantly broken with repairs taking months on end. Supporting my favorite Sister and Instructor Tanika, it was a great atmosphere of fun and energy. Lots of new faces and some recognizable. Ppl working out were friendly and said hello as I passed by. Nice atmosphere when you walk through the doors. The guy at the desk told me to enjoy my workout a nice touch. I didn’t work out on the machines today however, there were several inaerobic weight machines and the bathroom was clean. There is ample parking outside as it is located in the mall area. I didn’t notice any extra touches as I had seen in other centers but it was a nice fitness center.

Dirty , be prepared to get athletes foot from the showers that are never cleaned ..also whatever bacterial infection or staph you'll get from there dirty , dry sauna,hot tub and pool. Just gross. I'm greeted & scan my phone to check in at 12:30pm. Proceed to the locker when I notice I left my water bottle in the car. When I circle back in, there's a different person. He says hello, asks me to check in. I said I did already. He says I didn't see you. I say someone did and proceed to walk towards the locker. He says give me your phone number so I can check you in. I say, I'm already checked in. He proceeds to ask me for my phone number so I obliged. I ask why he didn't believe me. His response "if I believed everyone, this place would be running rampant "

This is a nightmare place!! Before sign up and after sign the plan is completely different attitude and services. After I signed up for the membership and needed help and wanna cancel the plan, they just throw my calls around with different people , the service is the worst and unprofessional. Think twice before you sign up because I feel like it’s a prison!! all the rules they have are scary! I regretted to sign up a membership here for 18 months with them, I never get a free training as they said or showing around the gym. I called them to cancel my training plan but I never get help instead they told me to call the corporate and after I spoke with corporate, the guy who I spoke with told me only place can help me cancel the training plan is the location that I sign up with. I have been waiting for the help or call for almost two weeks and never get the response!!! When they text you saying you have a free assessment, just thinks twice or make sure they don’t just trying to sale you the training packets! Nightmare!!

The lady at the front desk needs some serious therapy. Constantly screaming that there's 30,20,10 minutes until close on a daily basis as if we aren't all adults with phones that have their own digital clock. My girlfriend had to clean the sauna as people kept leaving their dirty sweaty clothes in the sauna and letting it crisp overnight. Machines somehow were rusting away, squeaking and half of them didn't work. All the salesman guy are Constantly badgering me with promotions and offers after repeatedly telling them no. The pool and hot tub would leave us with full body rashes almost every time. Then there's a guy calling about some promotional deal and that there's 20 minutes left until that deal runs out like what kind of ponzi scheme is this?

Watercize class was great. Niki is a great instructor. She gets you motivated and wanting to exercise. The shower are all spray. they don't get warm. there is no way to get out of the spray.

This gym used be under LA Fitness brand and we are member since 2016. Place used be dirty but staff was friendly and helpful. Last year the gym was taken over by Esporta. I joined back in October and since than Manager has changed 3 times. Most of the staff stays at their desk on their cell phone. Many of them are clueless and only help if you agree to sign up for personal training.

Stay far away from this place. I paid for a new membership three months in advance, and they continued to charge my account after the first month. However they couldn't because my health insurance benefit card was exhausted for the calendar year. They called, emailed, and texted me numerous times telling me that I owed them money, and every time, I had to explain the same thing to them. I finally told them to just cancel my account, I didn't want to do business with them. They were rude and told me I had to come in personally and talk to a manager. At first, I really liked this gym. Everyone was very nice and friendly. My issue with this company is that they do not tell the full truth when you cancel your membership. I was with this gym for a year, then decided after not going for 6 months that it just wasn't for me.

They make you go in person to cancel the membership and do not let you do anything over the phone. I went there in person to cancel it the first time I wanted to cancel it, and they told me I should "freeze my account" for 6 months in case I want to come back and I was told directly from the manager herself that I would NOT be charged during this 6 months.

After about a month of "freezing my account and being told there would be NO CHARGES" I was charged $50 for an "annual fee". So I called this location and asked why I was charged this and how to refund it since I was told there would be no charges.

On the phone, they said I needed to come in person to discuss this. So twice now I have had to drive here to attempt to cancel my membership. The manager told me that there is no way to refund that because "Esporta does not allow that charge to be refunded" so I told them I want my membership cancelled and to be done with it right then and there. I am no longer a member of this gym and if they try to tell you to "freeze your account" DO NOT DO IT, you will be charged. Just cancel it.

I moved to Buffalo for school. Where I’m from all of our gyms are up to date and very clean… disappointed is an understatement for this Esporta. The equipment looks like it has never been replaced- falling apart, rusted and squeaky.. the facility is so dirty that I saw the same orange tic tac candy sitting by an ab machine for about a month.. for a wealthier area of buffalo I expected so much more. 😞

So I signed over the phone a week ago and scheduled an appointment for my intro visit, although the person I spoke to I mentioned that I may not be able to come for the appointment as I am out of town! He said it’s ok if you cannot make it call us and we will reschedule it! I had a sudden emergency due to a funeral to attend so I called and this awful person who picked up my call was extremely rude , ill mannered and nasty person answered my call, I started my sentence by saying “hey I need to cancel …..” before I could utter a word he snapped at me said you have to come to gym to cancel , I was like no I mean … he cuts me off and said Nope you need to come to the gym ! This repeated a few times -At that point I told him if he would let me finish my sentence that it’s an appointment cancellation. He paused for a moment and then continued with the same nasty attitude… said he will let Jake know about the cancellation. I asked his name and he refused to give me his name telling me why do I need his name ! He said Ma’am just you are upset it has nothing to do with my tone - I demanded again that I need his name since he was very rude to me and this gym’s first impression on me and he hung up on me! ESporta management I need immediate resolution of this mater if you don’t , I need a full refund of my membership which I have not even started yet ! I have paid in full but this is all even before the intro visit , god knows how will you treat me later ?

My wife and I were LONG-TIME members, first of LA Fitness and then of esporta on Transit Rd, Amherst. What I can tell you in general is the following:

the place smells;
it's really hard to get space in the very small "pool" to do laps;
the aerobic machines are often out of service in one way or another;

In specific, I can tell you why we left. The membership supervisor goofed up our transition from full member to Silver Sneaker member; we kept getting charged. When we pointed this out to them, their reaction was....no reaction. They completely ignored us, and we're talking they ignored registered USPS letters (we were out of town).
Thus, they lost two members because they would not acknowledge that they had made a mistake and fix the problem. This doesn't even sound like a smart business move.

Could not have more crooked policies. THEY DO NOT LET YOU LEAVE. My wife used this place for pool only. We now have other acess to a pool and upon driving down there on saturday trying to remove her membership she was told she HAD to be there in person 9-5 Working in healthcare and being a provider during the week this is impossible. Then in an effort to comply. TOOK PART OF A DAY OFF to cancel a GYM MEMBERSHIP after being promised the manager would be there... Only to be told "Ohh the manager left early" ABSOLUTE CRIMINALS. STOP WASTING PEOPLES TIME. How is this not harrasment...

great place, prime location easy for me to come get a lift in on my way home from work. Had a great time with Jack the personal training director and Connor one of the trainers. These Guys put me through the best workout I’ve had in a long time. Not to mention the shake bar is open again! The new meal replacement shakes taste amazing.

I like the gym all in all. It is a bit tight on space inside but still offers everything needed to get the proper work in.

I deducted a star because this particular location skimps out on the kids club hours. That extra hour for each session is a big deal. 9-12 and 5-8 used to be 8-12 and 4-8.

Biggest SCAM ever!!! “General Manager” Mike signed me up for $1/month membership and promised I would only pay that fee and nothing more. That night, my credit card info was stolen and I was charged nearly one THOUSAND dollars from a New Jersey Best Buy. A few weeks later, I get a call from a woman at Esporta charging me $75 for something I was never informed of. So I go to Esporta and speak to Julianna, (the woman who called) and she couldn’t have been more RUDE!!! Childish, unprofessional and clearly a miserable person. Both her and another young employee mocked me for telling the truth, meanwhile, Mike, the “general manager” is nowhere to be found and won’t return phone calls. Needless to say, I won’t be going back and would recommend everyone to steer clear of Esporta’s Ponzi scheme on transit rd.

Cleanliness has gotten a lot better solid gym, but the basketball courts are way too slippery and they don’t take care of them even though members have been complaining repeatedly doesn’t seem like they care :(

So I hate to break it to the manager at this facility who thinks that she is very friendly but she was nothing more than rude and unprofessional and clearly does not know how to deal with customers with tact. I went into this facility over a month ago trying to cancel it only to be told that I had to wait for a weekday because that's when this manager is in. Well, like most I have a job! Therefore, I was finally able to take some time during my lunch break today to go cancel it and while the young lady who greeted me when I came in was very polite, this manager approaches us, doesn't acknowledge me at all but proceeds to tell me that a payment is due before she can cancel my membership all without even making eye contact with me like I wasn't even there. Then the Manager wondered why I was not particularly friendly with her. With that being said, she initiated an argument with me and instead of her taking my payment and canceling my membership like I was there for, she rolled her eyes at me and when I laughed and told her she was funny, she basically just told me to leave and she'll "take the hit!", whatever that means. Nonetheless, while that was great for me, especially because I tried to cancel this membership over a month ago, it's not a good look for that business! She should have been more worried about satisfying the customers' needs rather than feeding her own ego! Like who rolls their eyes like a 5-year-old anymore. I guess that was supposed to mean something to me bc I am a black woman. SMH Really happy to finally be separated from this business.
