This is the most disgusting unmaintained gym. I signed up to use the pool mainly and the pool water is MURKY, hair everywhere and just absolutely unsanitary. It looks like the water hasn’t been changed in years…. It is completely unsanitary and I had to change to the different location that’s farther than me…. PLEASE clean the waters. There’s no way this would pass inspection.

This place is a disaster. The cable machines always have missing or broken carabiners and attachments (one even has a missing weight pin), so I've been forced to buy my own. I understand it's a small gym, but the equipment is so limited and some of it is downright silly. Why don't we have a landmine press? Why is there only one squat rack? Why are several of the machines in metric and not imperial units; I've never seem this at any other gym? Why is there no traditional cable lat pull-down machine; all they have are fixed lat pull-downs? Some of the TV's don't work, namely the one by the dumb bells; while I don't watch TV per say, I use the clock between sets.

I will say, kudos to whomever took the initiative to clearly label the dumb bell rack. The one thing this gym has going for it is that the dumb bells are (relatively speaking) in order compared to other LA's since this change was made. That's the one redeeming factor.

I'd go to another gym, but I have a lifetime membership with LA (purchased at the nicer gym by my old house) and I can't beat the price.

LA took over this gym and made no notable changes. It is run down, with old and broken equipment. The bathrooms and locker rooms are both a mess and disgusting. They ALWAYS smell like urine. It is unfortunate that the location is so convenient but wasted on such a poorly upkept gym.

This gym has REALLLYY picked up their game. I worked out here a few years ago and then just stopped coming. I recently came back and was blown away. The staff is awesome, Jose (I think that’s his name, the general manager) was super great from the moment I stepped in to after I joined and asked for a couple of guest passes for my friends, he’s been great.

The club has the weights, the pool, the sauna, AND racquetball! Very impressed. It’s clean and friendly and worth the look. Also, no contract. It’s a win all around.

Overall a better upgrade from other gyms. BUT for the amount of money that I pay monthly + annual fee + initiation fee. I’d honestly expect better gym mats and definitely more mats than 3 jacked up mats to stretch in. In the second picture you can see that the person’s behind me was also torn. And there was only one left in the bin but was basically two mini ones, (completely torn).

Had the honor to meet Mike on June of last year when I got him as my personal trainer. He helped me so much on my weight loss journey to not only know how to use the gym equipment but to know what muscle would target and to help me meet my goal. He’s such a great trainer because he would listen to you if you have any questions about any exercise, guide me through my exercises without feeling lost even if I was new to the gym. Definitely the person that anyone who wants to feel confident, welcomed , have knowledge about how to use gym equipment and wants to add the gym as a new part in their lifestyle needs.

Not a good gym at all. Me and my master come up with a gym routine every day knowing we are in a zoo. We have people running around with no clue how to to act and just store it in our closest. It’s unethical to have family there and to ponder whats the big festivity coming up. Nothing more nothing less in the corner. Love the enthusiasm. Not a good fit. Not easy to follow. They dont even write your workouts out or give you a nutrition plan or a combination of it. I had to hire my own medcaid nutrionist whatever that is to fix my nutrition. It’s hot inside. Made me do a demonstration of a squat!

Today I just had the most nastiest experience that I’ve ever had in my life today at the Bay Shore LA Fitness. I’ve been coming to this facility since they left the area near the gas station and move to this location what has to be over 15 years now and even through it all I never complained about cleanliness, lack of machine or broken equipment but today I was beside myself with how filthy and down right disgusting the gym was. Mainly the women’s locker rooms and wet area. When you enter the locker room the first thing you notice are all the broken down lockers without doors on them.. Then all of the wet paper towels and/or tissues on the floor and in the toilets. The shower area was the worse with clumps of hair all over the floor and shower. Some of the showers don’t spray but come out like a faucet. Then in one of the showers it looks like feces. I was appalled when the person in charge Martin, said they only clean once a week and today there was no one to clean the women’s area. In addition to all of that the wet area ceiling lights, most looked burned out and the floor is filthy with embedded dirt. Why does something like COVID have to come along for facilities like this one to understand the importance of cleaning. This is why people are getting sick when they use these places. Shameful!

I think last year or last two years i’ve made a review with 5 stars but they fired two of the most hard working and best workers.all they care about is the money. Can’t even fix the gym. Broken stuff here and there but when it comes to a loyal customer that used to come every day now has to freeze the account to help her mom because she’s weak and about to die, they still try to take money out your account…THEY DONT CARE EVEN IF YOU HAVENT HAD A JOB IN 6 MONTHS.they just try to take from the account like oh yea you don’t need to come but we’ll still take your money…im not using that gym EVER again…i can lose weight on my own!!

Great team and then it goes downhill the equipment always broken, the stair master chains r so rusty the treadmills usually is a surprise if they r all working. I nearly left LA fitness until I tried the Deer Park Ave location if it wasn’t for that location I would have join planet fitness or Bay shore YMCA. LA fitness needs to heavily invest in their Bay Shore location. The staff r great n always helpful just sucks that the equipment is in such bad condition.

Be careful, people go to that gym to stolen people stuff , someone went to my locker stolen my car key, went to my car stolen all my credit and debit cards and my 1500 dollars cash , and the person locked the car , went with my car key and a left another key in my pocket , that person went buy things in target , Best Buy with my cards and the people in the front desk don’t want to help me in anything, they not concern about that happened to me that’s the reason why I’ll cancel my membership , I asked them to call 911 for me , they told me , they can’t called 911 with smiles in their faces , I called police and made a report and towed my car to the car dealer so they can give me another key.

pretty good place tbh and honestly I'm more of a planet fitness guy but I tried this place since its more closer and more convent in my area and so far these past few weeks/months have been pretty good and I do love the pool and, hot tub they got and the sauna is decent and a thing I didn't like was when I go into the locker room some guys don't cover themselves good and very unpleasant and I once recall someone in my past saying were all dudes it's good but here and else where is inappropriate and uncomfortable and they need to cover themselves better and the rest of the place seems pretty alright and see what comes next

This gym is not well managed. The women locker rooms are a disaster with broken doors that have not been repaired for years. The sound system was out of order for a month. The group exercise instructors had to bring their own equipment. The bathrooms are dirty. Several machines are broken. The zumba instructors are quitting and overall this gym needs a lot of improvement and nothing is being done. Members complain to the managers and corporate but nobody listens. Nobody cares.

2/20/25 update

There’s been a change in employees at bay shore. Since my last review, there’s a new ops manager Gabe who is congenial and easy to converse with as is the general manager Jose.
Also most of the equipment has been brought back to serviceable condition.

And when the managers aren’t there as on weekends , etc, the people at the check in desk are friendly and seem content.
I now find going to this location a pleasant experience.

9/6/24 update

I spoke to mgmt today about a trainer who blocked my access to using the sled even though that area was not being used at the time for training. I was told that trainers can block off any area near the astroturf vicinity when they want to. And that trainees get preferential treatment . Mgmt basically didn’t care about my complaint.
This is an example of why Bay Shore doesn’t get very good reviews. I never have problems like this at Lindenhurst LA Fitness where the employees are friendly, helpful and speak to the members respectfully.
If it wasn’t for the sled and tires available at Bay Shore I would go to another gym.
As another note the elliptical machines are very old and in poor condition, a number of them don’t work properly. I was told by mgmt months ago that they were being replaced. That didn’t happen.

Past review:
When I try to check in, often the scanner is not on the shelf and I have to ask for it. This is annoying and counterproductive. When I go to other La Fitness locations the scanner is always on the shelf and I get into the facility without delay. Poor management at Bay Shore if they cznt manage this simple process to accommodate members. Corporate puts in an automated tool, the scanner and bay shore mgmt defeats it and forces members to use a different process. Scanners should always be on the shelf for quick check in and employees should visually monitor compliance of members, simple remedy.

I truly love Bayshore LA Fitness.The atmosphere is comfortable.The people are focused they mind and they business... I have gone to other LA fitnesses.. Lake Grove, Smithtown, and Deer Park... Bay shore was the

Gym is not terrible. I feel like a it lacks certain items to make it a proper gym:
1. Have more than one squat rack.
2. Have dumbbells that do not max out at 100 lbs.
3. Have at least 1 lat pull down machine

As an extra item, the men's locker room could look nicer e.g. Not have so many lockers missing doors.

The place was deserted when I walked in, and I thought, "Wow, this is great!" Within 10 minutes I realized why.

I came just to use the sauna, and was surprised to discover that this particular location has a co-ed one. It was huge, but barely tepid. What a disappointment. And I had to walk through the pool area to get there, which I usually avoid, because of extremely poor air quality, which seemed worse than usual here. (Who wants to inhale chlorine gas?)

An inordinate number of lockers were missing doors, which I suppose didn't matter, since enrollment is undoubtedly very low here.

Overall, stopping into the Bay Shore LA Fitness was a huge waste of my time! I'll continue to be a member, but don't think I'll ever visit this location again.

Honestly this gym has been many different gyms through the years but overall nothing ever really changes. Major renovations need to be done to the indoor courts that are used for racquet ball. There are a lot of cardio machines here as well but a lot of them don't work either. It would be nice to see big changes made like minimizing the cardio section since half the machines don't work and maybe incorporating a basketball court to accommodate other athletes. The old gym also had a smoothie bar inside, that would be nice to see as well as longer gym hours and cleaner bathrooms
