I’ve been coming to this LA Fitness for more than 3 years now, and unfortunately it has only been getting worse. The overall condition and management of this location have declined so much that it’s becoming hard to justify the $42 I pay every month.
The showers don’t even have hot water, which is unacceptable, especially when this issue has been ongoing for so long. After finishing a workout, not being able to take a proper shower is extremely frustrating.
Several of the machines have been broken for weeks at a time, with no updates or urgency to repair them. It feels like more equipment is out of service than actually working some days.
The pool and hot tub have been shut down for months. I understand they may be upgrading, but there has been zero communication, no timeline, and no visible progress. Meanwhile, members are still being charged full price for fewer amenities.
The sauna is another problem. People keep throwing oils on the electric heater, creating a safety hazard and ruining the experience for others. It’s clear that rules aren’t enforced and the area isn’t monitored.
After three years of being a loyal member, it’s disappointing to see the gym getting worse instead of improving. Until these issues are taken seriously, I can’t recommend this location to anyone.

This location looks nice.
The morning staff can be good at times. A simple good morning or some acknowledgement goes a long way. The afternoon and evening staff need lots a work when it comes to acknowledgement and they seem to have a loose policy when it comes to personal phone usage.
I've been a business owner for 15 years and my staff are taught from the beginning acknowledge everyone because they pay the bills and pay your bills without them there is no business.
The maintenance staff are fantastic and friendly. I credited that to age unfortunately most employees 35 and younger are just not smart enough to know hello or hey go a long way. Maybe is entitlement.
This location is severely overcrowded. I've visited anywhere between 6:30am and 7pm. No matter what time I visit my workouts take 20 to 30 minutes longer than my usual because of equipment availability.

They recently had a renovation and I appreciate that. Its a good gym with good people.
Ive been there for years, and there are a few problems coming up. They gym is getting over crowded, equipment is constantly breaking and it hasnt been fixed in months.
There seems to be people sneaking in as well that dont belong there. There in the gym doing nothing and its weird.
They need to be more strict in maintaning the gym and also holding the people working out in the gym accountable, example
Putting the weight back on the racks.
And people who dont have a membership shouldnt be there at all!

Swimming pool is no longer, time to go!
The reorg of this gym appears to be marketed only to the muscle-bound and brawny. They closed the pool so they are no longer devoted to aquatic fitness and when I question the reason (the tall brawny Caucasian gentlemen), tells me that it was making them NO MONEY. What about those who are elderly or disabled? Stay clear of this gym, if you are not willing to sign up for one of their expensive personal training packages, they throw you to the wind. Not everyone wants to be beefy and brawny guys. Change your sales tactics!

They did some renovations recently so the workout space and locker area look nice. But the restroom and shower areas past the lockers was left untouched (on the men's side, at least). Thank God their janitor is excellent and keeps the space clean and tidy, but those areas really could have use some work. Going back to the workout space, the new set of barbell racks look great and there are plenty of them. Props for that. However, how is it that there are four fly machines but three have been broken for at least three weeks? I don't go here as often these days so I haven't noticed what else is broken, but at least fix one of the fly machines ASAP. It was already hard enough to get a turn when there were only two, now it's near impossible.

I joined this LA Fitness after my previous gym, Star Fitness, went out of business. I needed something close to home with no long commute, and this location fit the bill. At first, it was an okay option—standard equipment, plenty of parking, sauna, showers, classes, and trainers (for extra fees). But even before the recent renovations, the place had serious issues: tons of broken equipment left unrepaired for months, rude and obnoxious members (both men and women) who never re-rack weights, blast music from portable speakers, harass you mid-set, and leave litter everywhere. The PARKING LOT is a DANGER ZONE—people speed, block spots, and act reckless. Hygiene is a major problem too; many members (male and female) smell terrible, sweat profusely without wiping down machines, and show zero courtesy.The gym closed for renovations and reopened on Friday, October 3, 2025. I hoped the upgrade would fix the core problems. It didn’t—and in some ways, made things worse.
What’s NEW (Post-Renovation Equipment Totals – As of Nov 2025):
Power Racks: (6) Brand New Rogue power racks, Rogue Barbells and Bumpers
Smith Machines: Only (2) (prior we had three)
Seated Hip Thrust Machines: (2) brand new
Standing Hip Thrust Machines: (2) brand new
Belt Squat Machines: (2) brand new
Cable Stations: (4) new added (total now higher)
Dumbbells: Now up to 125 lbs (previously 100 lbs)
Adjustable Benches: (7) brand new near dumbbell area
Sit-Up Benches: (3) brand new
Indoor Turf (2nd Floor): Added with (2) Rogue sleds
Cardio Machines: ALL BRAND NEW replaced with modern machines
Locker Rooms: Fully renovated
Fresh paint throughout the facility
New TV at main entrance to display class schedules.
What’s GONE or STILL BROKEN:
Wi-Fi barely works
NO punching bags (removed permanently)
POOL IS GONE (Pilates studio taking over)
Old sit-up bench (fabric torn)
(2) Two Flat Benches' (frame are cracked & extremely dangerous)
Decline Bench is broken
(2)Calf machines broken (seat ripped off; other missing foot plate)
(2) Leg Press machines broken (back pad falls off)
NO water fountains on the 2nd floor
Lat Pull down ( cable broken on one, the other the seat pad ripped off)
Several weight plate machines missing entirely (shoulder, triceps machine)
AC has been broken– air quality is poor, stuffy, and hot
Construction dust and debris still everywhere – painters left a mess, floors sticky, equipment filthy
Despite the flashy new gear, the same broken machines from before renovations are still out of service. Management clearly prioritized aesthetics and trendy equipment over fixing what was already failing. The "upgrades" feel half-done.
The Members? Worse Than Ever.The rude, entitled, unhygienic behavior hasn’t changed—if anything, the crowd got bigger and rowdier. Fights still break out. People hog racks, refuse to share, and act like they own the place. The parking lot remains a chaotic, dangerous mess. Hotel guests (who get free access) add to the overcrowding. Management does nothing—no enforcement, no warnings, no bans.
Pricing & Value? Still $39.99–$50/month, or pre-paid deals (like ~$970 for 3 years—ask in person, not online). But you’re paying premium for a budget gym experience.
Final Verdict:The new equipment looks nice on paper, but this LA Fitness is still a disorganized, poorly managed, unhygienic mess. If you want a clean, respectful, functional gym—skip this one. I’d rather drive farther than deal with the daily frustration here.

First and foremost this location is not compliant with ADA regulations which for their disabled members is highly unsafe. There are members that hang out in the bathroom for extended periods of time and snapping photos in the mirror which is illegal and an invasion of privacy for other members. There are minimum 5!pieces of equipment that are completely unusable and have been so for quite some time... Some in excess of a yr so that's a real bang up job for the operations department. There's large groups of people that hog up all the equipment for extended periods of time. Also, front desk is unattended for extended periods of time, sounds to me like that is a safety concern for all paying members. Saying all this without mentioning their rude and dismissive staff would be remiss of me. Then the trainers do nothing but sit around and flirt with female members while sitting on the desk like they're papi chulo or something.

Letting LA Fitness know …you’re not getting away with canceling my membership and not holding your own staff accountable for their mishandling of an ADA issue. Your manager LettI B and regional TODD SKLAR were warned a formal complaint would be filed an attorney would be hired and I would seek compensation for LA Fitness and LA Fitness for allowing Tizzy Ent on Tik Tok misrepresent me and defame my public image using a video that lacked the entire context . It was one sided narrative seeding and TODD SKLAR AND TIZZY ENT ON TIK TOK have been in communication behind my back . La fitness allows this one sided videos to remain up even with full knowledge of it because members actually spoke up in my defense and yes they reviews the films from their internal security cameras . They even allowed me to train for two weeks before saying anything about the incident which I had already spoke with many members about who’ve seen it and they all agree with me . La fitness in my esitimagon canceled after the two weeks beside they could not find any supporting information other than me and others like me take away from their personal training business . Reason being many of us can do things their trainees who get paid cannot . They even took the heavy bags out of the gym during renovation becuse a man had several or more members he assisted with boxing on those bags FREE OF CHARGE …same with many of the calisthenics athletes and serious lifters all assist each other with tips and advice . We promote one another just by being ourselves . This I believe runs contrary to their business model . Letti B even told my brother that members aren’t allowed to interact with one another . This goes against building a safe and friendly gym COMMUNITY . There’s more but just thag for now …The United States Department of Justice Better Business Bureau Americans with Disabilities Act 1990 Psychology Today U.S. Department of State FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation. I hate the Feds btw but this is indeed under their jurisdiction …

The facility is beautiful, it looks recently renovated and very spacious. I visited during the mid-day rush and it was not crowded at all. Joshua, the memebership representative did all his due diligence in making sure that I had an opportunity to get a feel for the gym before signing up. He made the experience seamless. I came back to update my review because after my visit I learned that I was charged to "upgrade" my plan when in reality the front desk receptionist charged me for my guest to join me for the day which was very upsetting. Also, there's no longer a pool.

Too crowded and the locker rooms are a hangout... the cleaning staff are very accommodating. New equipment is awesome but some of the equipment is already breaking. The sauna gets too crowded and people drape their clothes inside or over the light fixture. Sometimes I have to stand up to change my clothes because some rude members sprawl their stuff on the benches not being mindful. The front desk is very polite for the most part. I enjoy going there when it's not crowded. I wish they'd slowdown selling memberships so much.

Cycling, specifically with instructor MAYWEATHER is THE BEST CLASS OF THIS LOCATION ironically enough. Thats an undisputed FACT! Many riders only have a membership BECAUSE of his class. You would THINK they would service the bikes weekly correct? NOT AT ALL. From the time I’ve joined I have heard and experienced NOTHING BUT TERRIBLE THINGS ABOUT THE BIKES FOR CYCLING CLASS from seasoned cyclists! THEY HAVE LITERALLY COMPLAINED DAILY ALONG WITH THE INSTRUCTOR AND NOTHINGGGG IS BEING DONE!
FIVE bikes to the side completely out of service! Bikes on the floor for use are shaking, shoe petals broken, shoe petal locks for cycling shoes broken, meters completely off the bikes with exposed wiring, bolts that mount the bike to the base GONE ETC ETC ETC. WHERE IS THE BRAND INTEGRITY????!!!! I went to New York sports club faithfully for 5 yearssssss for cycling and yoga and weight training! NEVERRRRR seen bikes this severely UNSERVICED! Not to mention, you must book the class ahead which Mayweathers class is FAITHFULLY SOLD OUT. Just to book your spot and get to the class and there are more ppl than bikes. Absolutely RIDICULOUS!!! Especially for a faithfully filled class with ppl that come SOLELY for the classs! The bike servicer should be under contract to service the bikes WEEKLYYYY! MANYYY OF US ARE EXPLORING OTHER ALTERNATIVES meanwhile this is such a simple fix! And to think they are working on construction for a Pilates room with REFORMERRRSSS! CAN YOU IMAGINE FALLING OFF A REFORMERRRRR! PEOPLE WILL DIEEEEE!

I had such an amazing experience thanks to Shawn and Wilky! From the moment I walked in, Shawn was so welcoming and knowledgeable about everything fitness and health.
He made my first experience at the gym completely seamless, showing me around and making me feel comfortable right away.
He introduced me to Wilky, one of the personal trainers and honestly, he’s the best! Before we even started working out, he took the time to get to know me personally, which made me feel like I was talking to a close friend or even a brother.
During our sessions, he was super knowledgeable and made sure I learned the proper form for everything. He encouraged me to take my time, but also pushed me just enough to get an amazing workout in.
Both Shawn and Wilky made me feel confident, motivated, and excited to keep coming back. My overall experience at this gym was a 10/10 I highly recommend it! Definitely ask for Shawn and Wilky when you come in you won’t regret it! 💪

Before working with Abdl Mahnahf, I was struggling with finding motivation to go to the gym, lower back pain was severe that i had to go to the therapist every single day. I appreciate their guidance to get back to my normal life learning the importance of proper form, incorporated a varied strength, builing muscle that building my confidence. By his constant follow-up, motivation, expertis made me able to maintain a sustainlable long-term health routine and regain my faith.
Nana is another phenomenal young champ who i luckily have now as my personal trainer for evening shift. I'm truly thankful for his informative and fun training. He is the best. He is super easy to talk to, make you feel comfortable, super attentive, provide clear explanations and always stick to you Throughout the workout standstill. He never gets tired of you.His training style rocks! That made me to expand my session 🥰 I recommend Nana the champ to everybody who are longing to have a tremendous change in their body and mind.

I am very happy with the results I’m seeing in myself. My trainer, Nana, pushes me to work hard and provides valuable information thanks to his educational background in sports medicine. Overall, I am very satisfied with his training and with LA Fitness. I only have a suggestion that they ass a lounge area or tables to use my laptop tondo work.

Don't be fooled by these fake reviews praising the people that work there that's the employees and staff doing it... They took away the pool and jacuzzi and the boxing bags. I'm not happy about that. After you sign me up and made me pay $100 Sign up fee .you decide to take those things out without warning. The gym is over packed and they allow the people that go there to do whatever they want. And the manager the white guy. Is not a good representative to the gym. .

WHEN I FIRST JOINED THIS GYM ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO THE PERSON WHO SIGNED ME UP KNEW I MAINLY JOINED BECAUSE THEY HAVE PUNCHING BAGS ASIDE FROM THE GYM BEING A PRETTY GOOD GYM. A LOT OF MACHINES WERE BROKEN WHICH LET'S FACE IT MOST BRONX GYMS HAVE BROKEN MACHINES. BUT THE THING IS WHEN THEY RENOVATED ALL THEY DID WAS RELOCATE THE BROKEN MACHINES DIDN'T FIX IT. ADDED FEW POWER RACKS FROM ROGUE WHICH TO ME TAKES UP WAY TOO MUCH SPACE. .. A BUNCH OF CABLE MACHINES BUNCHED UP NEXT TO OTHER MACHINES WHICH MAKES THE AREA FEEL LIKE THERE AIN'T NO SPACE. A ARGUMENT IS GOING TO HAPPEN THERE EVENTUALLY.. MY MAIN PROBLEM IS THEY TOOK OUT THE BOXING BAGS WHICH WAS A VERY BIG DEAL TO ME BECAUSE THAT'S why I SIGNED UP 6 MONTHS AGO IN THE FIRST PLACE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULD NOT TELL ME THEY GOING TO TAKE IT OUT EVENTUALLY .. WHEN I TRIED TO ASK THE WHITE OLDER GENTLEMAN WHO IS A MAIN MANAGER THERE HE BRUSHED ME OFF. TOLD ME THE BAGS ARE NOT COMING BACK And also said go ahead indirectly saying join another gym after I said it was a deal-breaker for me because of the boxing bags. Poor management etiquette. HE DIDN'T REALLY WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT THE BAGS.. the lady who be behind the computer who's another manager in the front in the back of the desk is nice she explained to me why they don't have the bags no more which I know it was mainly a lie to cover up why they took it out. But at least she was nice enough to answer something.. THEY TOOK OUT THE POOL AND THE JACUZZI .They added turf upstairs. And a bunch of TRX cable pull up station wherever you call it. I feel like they added a lot of things that wasn't necessary.. and the fact that they took out the boxing bags is the reason why I might cancel the membership Because it's a fitness gym that has no pool anymore that they took out so now the older people canT Work out and no boxing bags. So it's just a regular fitness gym with more machines than planet fitness.. I'm trying to see if I stick around a little longer to see if they put the bags back or maybe I'll go to Yonkers and hit the bag I just don't feel like driving so far just to do that.. because Bay plaza is closing down on November 11th.. visually the gym looks nice it's not a bad gym but it does get way too packed. Machines be broKen. They can do a better job enforcing certain rules from people .But I've learned to accept it. That part don't really bother me too much because I'm going to use the machine regardless. It's mainly the boxing bags and them not enforcing certain rules and the setup to me is too bunched up together
