I’ve been to LA fitness facilities all over the country, I’m a member of Catalyst on Elmwood and I owned a yoga studio in SoCal. I know what a clean, well managed and maintained gym is supposed to look like. I come to the LA fitness on Elmwood in Buffalo a couple times a week with my husband and I’m always appalled by how nasty it is. This is the worst and most badly maintained LA Fitness I’ve ever been to. It’s honestly a disgrace and I’d be mortified if I was the manager of this facility. It’s disgusting. Women’s bathrooms are always in disarray. There’s NEVER any cleaning supplies for machines. People never wipe down machines. Machines are in bad shape and rusty. It’s really sad. And when you share info about cleanliness and supplies to the desk people they give an attitude.

I’ve been a loyal LA Fitness member, but my recent experience left me really disappointed. The membership manager I dealt with was rude and completely unprofessional — not what you’d expect when you’re trying to get help or ask her a simple question. Disappointed with Management
I’ve been a member at LA Fitness for a while, and I’ve generally enjoyed the facility and equipment. However, my recent experience with Rukshana was very disappointing. The manager I interacted with was extremely rude and unprofessional, which left a bad impression. I expected better customer service from a company like LA Fitness. The pool on elmwood is closed. Small place and what i didnt like is tht they are only about ur money. A training package for 1day a week is $260 a week plus your monthly fee of $35. Total to start just the no contract $35 month is $178. Then like a week later the $59 annual fee is due . Needless to say I will not be joining this gym.

Trying to make me put my card information down to “activate” my free 3 day pass? Then saying I need to make an appointment to use the gym to use the pass? Yeah no. I went to the LA on Sheridan for well over 2 years then switched gyms for a year and wanted to try this one out. Bad and weird vibes from the start. Miss Girl had such a bad attitude w me. Then when I finally had an attitude back to her she finally backed off. She kept referring this to “have you ever done a Netflix trial, this is the same thing”. I’m not trying to get my card charged period. I said that to her since the moment I walked in the gym. I just wanted to do the 3 free days and then see if I wanted to join after. If that’s how she’s trying to up her sales do better. Not getting no commission from me babe. I’ll gladly stick w the gym I’m at now!

I'm from out of town, just here for work. Like it or not, most gyms are a reflection of their community and driving up to this one, it's evident here. The neighborhood is dingy, older, and run down. The gym shadows that with old, rusty equipment, multiple broken water fountains, broken equipment, and an overall "dinginess". There's no reason to feel unsafe, but there's also no reason to come here unless convenience prevails.

Really bad experience with the membership manager. She does respect the customer choices when I just came to get the tour of the fitness center and understand the membership option. I am leaving this review solely based on my interaction with Joshua who was manning the front desk both times I visited this location —Friday, August 29 and Tuesday September 2.

I was travelling from Toronto to Cleveland and back again with a stop over in Cheektowaga so I made two stops here because i had time to spare. My cab driver suggested Planet Fitness, NO THANK YOU. My Premier Plus membership has been a God sent.

I visit my own location 6 days per week and they set the bar pretty high there so being in a new location made me a little anxious. Joshua made the check-in process seamless and I felt most comfortable after my interaction with him on that first day. My second time in, I was relieved when I saw him at the desk again and he remembered me. One good interaction is great but two excellent interactions by the same person is a habit. You have a gem in Joshua.

He may not realize it, but that small interaction will stick with me every time I walk into an LA Fitness, which is often.

I moved out of state in May and told the staff I needed to cancel; they assured me it would be handled. They have since billed me every month—now totalling over $1,500—and refuse to close my account. Even though I’m now living abroad, they keep charging me for membership and personal training I can’t use. This location clearly does not honor cancellations or respect customers’ requests.

I was at LA Fitness for the first time today, I visited their location in Kenmore NY. I have been in and out of working out for quite sometime and wanted to get back to a regular work out schedule. Current management here is very poor and the gym is not well maintained. Not due to its workers but due to corporate/management. The pool is closed with no real reasoning ever provided to its guests, basketball courts becomes locked up and only used for volleyball with no real reasoning ever. Plus their water fountain with the only water bottle refill will be broken for weeks at a time !!

There’s better gyms in the area at a better price point that will offer you the same amenities. Save your self the headache DO NOT GO HERE!

Gym is filthy. I walk in at 5am opening and the gym looks like a tornado hit the place. The basketball court has clothes and bottles all over the court. They have a whole pool section that has been out of service for months, maybe even a full year. The water fountain downstairs is constantly out of order. Locker room is never clean and the bathroom area smells very pissy.

I see the LA FITNESS owner only replies to the positive commits and “ignores” the ones with criticism. SMH

On 6/18/25 at approximately 8:36pm, I spoke to a young man over the phone and asked if the gym would still be open with limited hours or closed for Juneteenth. His exact words were, "I'm gonna go off the record and ask you, are you a Black man in America?", in a very rude tone. I was truthfully appalled by such lack of respect and proper customer service by the man over the phone that I couldn't even speak before our call was disconnected. I have been going to this gym for 4 years and I have never experienced such blatant disrespect. This is wonderful gym but if that young man does not know how to speak to people then he should not work there.

I have been a member in the past at the wherle location. But now I live in North Buffalo area. So I signed up here with addition to adding training sessions to my membership. My trainer name is Joseph he was great at first the 1st few weeks. Then he just stopped checking up and I stopped having sessions but my card kept getting charged $250 each month I called to cancel because each time I text no response. When I called they told me I have to cancel through who signed me up so I went up there got turned around EVERY TIME bc they kept telling me Jospeh was not there. Gave me his number to schedule a meeting still nothing I have now blocked the transactions from charging my card and hopefully am able to get them disputed since I haven’t had any training sessions for about 6months now. My life is already busy enough this has been a ridiculous rollercoaster in the process of finding another gym now. Worst experience BY FAR 0/10

Very very hot facility that does not use air conditioning. Probably about 80°ish inside. Only 1 drinking fountain for whole gym. Pool closed. Very messy. Do not go to this gym. Lots of machines but they’re all what I would assume to be years old based on how it smells. I’ve noticed a nasty Oder near the free weights and it never goes away.
