Poor communication and maintenance. They have weights and treadmills so that's good. However they have a serious failure to communicate especially with maintenance issues. They have a hot tub that's hasnt worked in at least 7 months, a sauna with a broken bench for a month and won't update their members with timelines on fixes so they can use all of the amenities they're paying for. When you do ask when things will be fixed they can't come up with a definitive answer. When they have staffing issues or hours changes they don't bother to let anyone know other than a sign on their front door which at that point it's too late to change your plans for your workout. This is even though they have an app and a Facebook page they could easily use to communicate with, they just choose not to.

I had the pleasure of visiting my local LA Fitness for free because I ran into a nice man on my morning walk. When I got inside I was greeted and serviced asap they helped me take that next leap. I even got a free fitness screening from Kyle at LA Fitness Perinton. He created a clear, realistic plan for my goals, explained the “why” behind each move, and adjusted workouts when I had soreness. Sessions are hard but smart — he tracks form, progress, and keeps you motivated. The gym equipment and atmosphere are great, and Kyle makes training approachable whether you’re brand-new or already lifting. Highly recommend asking for a free consult with Kyle at the front desk.

Been an active member for 17 months. Great location, friends workout here, very friendly staff. The ugly issues which I’m directing towards ownership is the Hot Tub had worked for 3 weeks since I’ve been here, and when a piece of equipment or anything that needs to be fixed, a sign saying it’s on scheduled to be fixed. Currently the Hip abducter machine has had a scheduled to be fixed for 60 days.

The place is dirty, the door was broken *forever*, and sometimes equipment is either broken or "being serviced" — which is just a printed-out sign taped on for months.

I asked the older guy at the front desk when a specific piece of equipment would be fixed, and he looked at me cross eyed and acted like I was speaking a foreign language. After asking a few times, all I got was: “The part is on back order.” When I asked *how long*, he just shrugged and said, “It gets fixed when it gets fixed.” I asked for them to call me when it got fixed and he told me I could call in every day until it gets fixed.

Tried to escalate — asked for the manager, and was told I couldn’t speak to him until 9 a.m. (this was at 6:30 a.m.). Asked for the corporate number, and the guy read it to me out loud. I called and, surprise, no one answered — just a voicemail saying no one was available.

The good: the gym has great equipment. A variety of free weights, racks, machines, cardio equipment, cables, and turf area. There’s a pool but I don’t use it so I can’t comment on it. Front desk staff is friendly.
The bad: one single water station for the entire gym (who thought this up!?) When equipment breaks, it’s out of commission for weeks on end. Not enough wipes stations so people often don’t wipe their equipment. Women’s locker room is not cleaned well or taken care of (floor likely hasn’t been properly cleaned in a year, hair and dust bunnies, bathroom stall lock broken for 6+ months, lockers not wiped out ever, and judging the rest of the space I wouldn’t step foot into the showers). Women’s sauna also doesn’t get properly cleaned and the benches are not in good condition.
The ugly: between the hours of 2:30 and 4:30pm there are so many kids. These are kids well under the age of 18. They receive no guidance on use of equipment or safe form. Some of them wear Birkenstock sandals, crocs, and slippers to work out. It’s not just annoying, it’s unsafe. I really wish there was an age restriction. They also only play Fox News which is the opposite of promoting wellness imo.
This could be a really nice gym if someone cared more about it.

When I first started coming here it was clean and well maintained. For the past year a lot of equipment is broken or dirty. The front door has been broken for a year or more. The ladies restroom has been destroyed. Soap dispensers empty, No toilet paper. One of the locks on the stalls has been broken off. The "child" area was never finished. The benches in the sauana are not nailed down and laying on the floor. And of course your favorite is they make it difficult to cancel! They slapped this place together with Elmer's glue and painted over it.

I previously posted about how harassing the sales people can be when bringing guests. But lately the gym has not been very clean either & the wipes to clean the machines are seemingly constantly empty. Today in particular it’s really bad. I’m not sure if the janitors don’t check anymore or something but this is getting very common.
The machines are out of commission for a really long time, like several weeks or more. The hours here are really bad, the stickers on weights are peeling or have fallen off, and the tethers holding the weight stack pins are very cheap and fall off.

I’ve been a member since grand opening. Several reviews critique how transactional and “sale-sy” the staff and management is. This is definitely true, however not my main concern (I get it, business is business)

My main concern is the upkeep of the gym. At grand open this gym was a great place to have a membership. The upkeep and basic care are basically nonexistent at this point. Several amenities have been broken/out of order/ dirty for months on end (doors, sauna bench, hot tub etc) and the cleanliness is suffering as well. From dirty machines/floors to a dirty locker room and drain flies in the showers (and little black worms on floors). This place needs to put its members first before they go somewhere else

This is one of the best gyms in the area. The equipments are clean, and all the equipments are new. The staff always greets you with a smile. I have made amazing progress since joining this gym, great crowd, good vibes. 10/10 experience if you’re mainly looking for a gym to weight lift. They have plenty of free weights, benches, 3 squat racks and 1 smith machine. The only con I can think of is they should add more smith machines, and maybe work on the hot tub issue. Lastly, there is a particular older gentleman that comes here who is extremely rude to others, particularly women. I can recall two occasions where he was hostile and screamed at me. I wish his membership would be revoked so the rest of us can enjoy our workout 💪🏽

Hot tub has not worked very much at all since opening: For many months it was the heaters that were not working. Now it has been several months that the jets are not working.

Management's latest go-to excuse has been that they rely completely on "High Sierra" to do everything from providing lifeguards to fixing the pools/hot tubs. Management doesn't seem to be stressing out about this at all.

It's obvious that there are several levels of different organizations that are not doing their jobs. High Sierra has no offices anywhere in the state of NY listed on their web site, so I'm sure this place is not getting the attention it should be getting. This is not only their fault, but the fault of management to allow this to continue happening.

They took way too long to cancel my membership. I received 5 different answers from 5 different staff on how to cancel; supposedly only the manager can cancel for you...yet I was the one that had to chase her down between this location and the East Ave location to get her to cancel. I finally received a confirmation email that my membership was cancelled, but they make it near impossible to cancel if you aren't calling them every day. Not to mention, the sauna at the East Ave location has been broken for over a year which is one of the main reason I chose to join LA Fitness. I attended this LA Fitness for a few months while taking a break from my preferred gym, Orangetheory Fitness, due to an injury. The facilities are very nice, but I dislike the hard sell for personal training packages, which cannot be cancelled or shortened without massive fees, despite what salespeople suggest. LA Fitness and Esporta gyms are being sued across the country for deceptive personal training sales tactics. I recommend avoiding their personal training packages at all costs.

Was told when I signed up there would be a kids center by manager. My first time there was told by employees that corporate decided a month ago to not open the kids center. So the manager will say what ever you wanna hear to get you to sign up. Gym went 4 days with no paper towels in bathroom/ locker room. Sauna seat has been broken since I started in NOVEMBER. They need a Professional Manager. Current manager just sits there on his phone all day.

Nice place, but awful sales personnel. When you try to sign up, they will conveniently forget to tell you about the lowest priced option and only give you the upsell options. There's a yearly fee on top of a monthly fee that they can't seem to explain intelligently. When you call back to discuss the cheaper plan they claim they will give you a refund for the difference but they never actually do and drag the process out for weeks. And guess what, should you want to freeze your account while they try their "very best" to sort that out, there's a fee for that too that they conveniently do not tell you about before freezing the account! This is a scam with a maze of hidden fees and sleazy, shady, dishonest sales people that will nickle and dime you for every last dollar. I would advise going elsewhere.

But since the day they opened, the whirlpool/hot tub is warm on its best and often simply cold. You also may experience running out of hot water in the showers at any moment but especially when it's busy. I know several people have complained in the year that it has been open. But there seems to be a "nothing we can do about it" attitude as it hasn't been addressed and has been open almost a year. It's the managerial/customer service equivalent of a shoulder shrug. It's an otherwise great place. But a cold whirlpool and showers doesn't cut it.

The price, location and amenities are great. They have everything: weights, nautilus, cardio, studios, etc. The hot tub is a wonderful feature *when it's working*. I have a feeling they need to pay their staff more because the vibe is truly "whatever." If the hot tub is not working, they NEVER put up signs. They let people in the sauna in full workout gear and shoes (yuck). And for some reason the personal trainers always hover right in front of all the gear in the functional fitness area, so you have to squeeze past and interrupt them to get what you need. Oh, and the wifi has suddenly been out for days and everyone you ask about it acts like it's a total mystery and you KNOW no one is probably going to do anything about it.

Not the greatest Customer service team! I was told by a team member that I could join and then once I talked to the manager I was told they won't honor the coupon. Waste of my time after I was told it was ok and drove over there. Just disappointed!
