Unfortunately I will not be taking my child here. They are understaffed.I always see new people working everytime I pass by.
I came in a couple weeks ago to see if I liked the kids club but I did not. All I saw was chaos this poor young man dealing with 20 kids is completely unsafe for the worker and for the kids. If I could file a report on the manager or supervisor I would. They need more help in the kids club. Not fair or right. Such a scam

Terrible gym, staff didn’t know address of building, waited 10 minutes for nobody to come up to give me a guess pass just to try the gym out I ended up getting it myself from the website. Spent 25 minutes walking around to not find a single machine to use. The place smelt like urine, the floors were dirty, locker rooms were nasty, even the water dispenser for your shaker cup is in bad shape. After my visit I had the gym staff call my phone 5 times to ask me about my guest pass. The parking lot is shared with a BJS so parking is a big hassle. Would not come back again.

So apparently doing the guest pass or 7 day free pass is a SCAM and they will NOT let you use it! (Apparently you have to read the “fine print”) Literally one of the managers at another location told me that it’s a scam since this location had me waiting for 20 minutes for an imaginary sales person to come help me and when no one came they tried to pitch me to pay $20 for a day pass when my friend was a member and I had the 7 day pass. Apparently they just try to scam you and the amount of people inside were crazy so I walked out. The guys at the front desk also do not seem like people person or like they enjoy their jobs or life itself. Would never join this gym seems so depressing and miserable.

I’ve been a loyal member at LF Fitness in Garden City (711 Stewart Avenue) for about a year and a half, paying over $617 during that time. While this is considered one of the better LF locations in Long Island, the cleanliness here has gotten truly unacceptable.

The equipment is consistently dirty—dust, cobwebs, and grime around the machines almost every time I come in. It’s clear that regular cleaning is not being taken seriously.

The bathrooms are even worse. The toilets have yellow, black, and orange rings inside and around the bowls, as if they haven’t been properly cleaned or bleached in ages. The bathroom floors look the same—dirty, stained, and neglected. I honestly feel disgusted even thinking about taking a shower there.

The sauna also smells terrible—like sweat that has never been cleaned off—plus there’s visible dust and dirt all over. It’s disappointing and honestly shocking to pay a high membership fee for a facility that looks, smells, and feels this poorly maintained.

I truly hope management takes this seriously, because as a loyal customer, I can say this location desperately needs immediate attention and proper cleaning.

Update: The amount of people in this gym is ridiculous and it's just getting worse. It's absolutely awful trying to work out. The only reason I am stepping foot in this place is because I have two really good trainers here.

I don't know what is going on with this gym. First they get rid of half of the cardio equipment and now it is unbelievably hot. Had to cut my workout short and leave. I don't know how anyone didn't pass out yet. Place is turning into a dump.

If you are looking to get Personal training I highly highly recommend Sherwin. He's experienced, knows what he's doing, pushes you to your limits in a sustainable way, works with you on your goals AND happily teaches you ways to improve.

I've been working with him consistently since July and couldn't be happier.

My body has improved. I feel amazing and always learn something new from him every week to incorporate into my routines.

Working with him was by far one of the best investments i've made in the past few years.

I took away two stars because the barbell rack is ultra disorganized...you have to walk up and down the rack just to find two matching weights..and they are never where they are supposed to be. I end up losing time in my rest periods because I can't find the weights I'm looking for. Staff needs to do a better job of rerqcking weights where they should be..becaumemebrs won't do it if that's how they find it. Fix them and make consistent announcements over the loud speakers to maintain the barbell order

Based on stories that I’ve heard, I always thought that LA Fitness was one of top tier gyms around until I found out that it was not. One thing about me as a person and a reviewer, I’m going to be honest.

It is disgraceful to see two different gym equipment being operated as if nothing is wrong with either equipment. One equipment has no seat cushion and two barbells were being used in place of where the seat cushion should have been.

The second machine, someone put a barbell under the seat cushion of the lat pulldown machine as if use if in place of a missing part or to level it, both which are very unsafe to members who use the machine daily all day. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen 🤑🤑🤑🤑

La Fitness members pay MONTHLY dues and ANNUAL fees so there is NO reason why equipment should be out of order at any given time. Things happens but get it fixed ASAP, this is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable to paying customers who come to work out with good quality equipment.

Just a closing tip for you, If you are reported to OSHA, this may be considered a violation and penalties can and will occur because you are to provide a workplace for employees free of working dangers.

LA Fitness, you have to do better! It’s time to shop for new equipment!

I just joined this gym and it’s an amazing place — great equipment, clean spaces, and the sauna is a big plus. However, I’ve noticed that some people go into the sauna wearing workout clothes and shoes. I think it would be better if the staff reminded members to follow proper sauna etiquette for hygiene and safety. Other than that, the gym is fantastic!

Update #2 ** I wish they would use their app to show when the pool is closed for maintenance. Every month I show up and there’s just a paper sign that it’s closed and I just have to keep calling everyday to find out if it’s open. Or there’s not hot water all of a sudden for days. Utilize the app to show these conditions so members don’t have to keep calling the front desk. Women’s locker room is still dirty as hell.

Update** I have to update this because the women’s locker room showers are DISGUSTING. THERE ARE SMALL FLIES crawling around everywhere in the showers and it stinks of mold and mildew. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON. And the front desk says the temp control in the pool is working but the pool has been FRIGID for the atleast the past week.

Front desk is friendly and the cleaning team keep the gym pretty clean. The pool could use some more attention and there’s some gross mold growing all over the ceilings in the pool room that needs to be addressed asap. The showers are generally clean but the shower heads need a replacement. Some of the nozzles spray in a mist and it can make it almost impossible to wash at all.

The 5 stars are for Zhané and Randy!! Randy was amazing signing me up a couple of days ago, and had my full body examination done by Zhané. She was super professional and kind from her initial phone call to when I left our session. If I had the means I would see her 3x a week, she taught me to engage my core like I haven’t before and made sure my form was on point. Although it was a short session she gave me multiple circuits/workouts for my personal goals and got me familiar with machines I would be using. I highly recommend her to anyone new joining or looking to book a private training session!!!

Unacceptable! I usually go to the new Hyde park location but decided to try out this location. Staff seemed friendly and I was able to complete my workout with no probelm. I then went to the sauna. Sat in there for a few minutes until I saw a roach. I stepped back and realize there were a whole bunch of them right where I was sitting which was insane ! Never have I been to a gym that had roaches! Now I get they are trying to take necessary steps on eliminating this pest probelm but at least close the saunas. You guys need to close them down until this probelm is gone completely. You guys cannot have people sitting or laying in there not knowing there is a major issue. Safe to say I will never visit this location again I left very shaken up.

Large selection of machines but when something is broken it takes weeks to fix. The members take things like dumbbells and handles and leave it all over the place.
Update: 9/2025
They upgraded a large portion of the gym. New flooring, spin room, redesigned functional training area, about 80% of the machines on the 2nd floor are brand new. They put in new squat racks, glute bridge machines, belt squats, a lot of new cable machines. They are installing a pilates studio. The basketball court has been removed.
The dumbbell area is about the same. New benches mixed in with old but the dumbbells weren't updated.
Locker room and pool area weren't updated.

I would like to formally report an incident that took place at the gym involving one of your trainers, Tiffiny.
When I entered the gym, I went to get a mat from the personal training area. Tiffiny told me that the equipment in that area is only for personal training clients. I respected her decision and left the area immediately.
However, shortly after, I observed that she was allowing other people to take dumbbells and kettlebells from the same area. I approached her and politely asked why others were allowed to use the equipment while I was not.
Unfortunately, instead of answering calmly, she became very aggressive toward me. She even approached me in a threatening manner, as if she was about to physically assault me. I felt very unsafe in that moment. I urge you to please review the security footage for a clear understanding of what occurred.
I also called the manager at the time, but even they were unable to calm her down.
This behavior is completely unacceptable and has made me feel uncomfortable and disrespected in what should be a safe environment. I would appreciate it if this matter could be looked into seriously, and I would like to know what actions will be taken to prevent this kind of behavior in the future.

Bars for benching are all messed up. The bars roll once you start putting on some plates. This happened to me with 400 LB on a flat bench. As I went to lift the weight the bar rolled out of my hands and fell on my chest. I then fractured some ribs. THIS LOCATION NEEDS BETTER BARS!

This gym is spotless, spacious, and well equipped with machines so there’s never a wait. Very modern and well-maintained. The environment is very welcoming and friendly.

I just joined this gym. It has the potential to be a great gym. Cleanliness is a real issue. There is dust everywhere, and it seems that the weights are never put back to where they should be. Worst gym franchise. They only care about money. I signed up to use the swimming pool and I didn’t know that their pool was closed. I only found out after paying all of the initial fees. They refused to give me a refund. I even emailed upper management and I was dismissed. I ended up walking away without my money back. DO NOT give your money to these people. Find yourself a better gym.
