Every workout requires a shoulder routine. If you can not get a proper shoulder workout, you can injure yourself. This gym does not have the appropriate dumbells to get a proper workout. Without the range of dumbells from 12.5 lbs and up to 20 lbs available, for a gym that takes in a clientele of 1200 people a day, is very disappointing. After hundreds of complaints and still nothing is being done about it, a large number of members are seeking an alternative gym.

Full disclosure: I am not a member of this gym, and based on my experience today, I do not intend to become one. I stopped in to get a sense of the facility and how busy it typically is. Upon arrival, I was immediately handed a clipboard and asked to provide extensive personal information. When I asked if we could simply take a quick look around before sharing any details, the staff member declined, stating that he needed our information “to do his job,” which he described as selling memberships.

In my experience, no credible business requires prospective customers to provide personal information before they have had an opportunity to learn anything about the product or service.

This place has no humanity. I was going through some serious family medical emergency for 4 months. It happened right after I signed up for annual membership. Beware do NOT sign up for annual membership.
You only save $30 but can’t cancel or put membership on hold. I have never seen any gym doing that.

5 stars for this facility due to Ron and Jaime, 2 staff members that go above and beyond. We had an issue with our account and were incredibly thankful to them for their help. We’ve been with La fitness for many years and were considering canceling but Ron was able to convince us to stay. He is persuasive and convincing and we reconsidered our cancellation.

Jaime was amazing too. He went above and beyond and ensured we were happy with our account. He promised to adjust our account and followed through without forgetting. We really appreciated his efforts. What a great asset both Ron and Jaime are to La Fitness!
The human, personal touch by staff are crucial for these big franchises who lose touch with their clients. Employees like Ron and Jaime help to bridge that impersonal distance and deserve recognition by LA Fitness for providing a positive, more personal image of LA Fitness.

It has been a few months since the last review … This location still has NOT addressed the issues of Treadmills being broken , weights missing or left around the gym not racked … bathroom is unsanitary and unsatisfactory for anyone .. The Staff is polite but the problems are not fixed this is going on almost 7 years with the same treadmills and they consistently breakdown with no time table on repair … not sure how much longer I will pay for this membership.. No good

This is a place that provides services to the public and I’ve witnessed more than once two of The Latino female trainers speaking to people with no respect telling them they don’t belong there, shut up! Not letting members that pay to be there use the weights from the training room even though no one’s in there using them I just find it despicable that we pay for memberships and this is how people are treated! Another reason why I won’t go to this gym anymore I’ll keep using the one on Stewart Avenue where the staff is amazing and provides the best customer service and they actually care about their members!

It is an acceptable facility for the most part, but 20% of their cardio equipment is regularly out of order and several weight machines get broken in July and not fixed until December when they are doing their membership drives. Also, the other patrons totally abuse the locker room and are destroying the sauna, which is supposed to be a dry sauna, but they keep pouring water on the wood, which is causing it to chip and rot. Major health concerns coming up. They should use their corporate funds to install a proper steam room so the customers that want it, can have it, and not ruin it for people that would like to use it correctly.

I am truly speechless. Nobody answers the phone, and when you finally walk in, the staff can’t even muster a “good morning.” (If they can’t say hello, how are they supposed to sell a membership?) The machines look like they’ve been through multiple world wars, half the treadmills are on permanent vacation, and the sweat stains on the walls and mirrors could probably qualify for their own gym membership. Just stepping inside made me feel like I needed a tetanus shot. What a filthy, tragic comedy of a gym.

It's a fine gym, most of those stars are for equipment selection (when not broken) and physical space and parking lot. I go here pretty often and, unless you're going at super busy times, I've never really had a major issue with waiting too long for something.

The gym itself is really dirty or unpleasant though. Locker rooms/bathrooms constantly smell beyond what you'd expect. Hand towels dispensers are almost always out. The cleaning staff also use a really foul smelling solution. It stinks up the area whenever they clean the mirrors, which is often.

Also of minor note, it's always been so weird to me that people re-rack the dumbbells in whatever space it nearest to them, so things are NEVER in numerical order.

There are a lot of high school ages members when I go. While that's not an issue in and of itself, they tend to work out in groups, which means longer wait times.

Ending on a positive note, the staff has always been really friendly. They take things seriously and try to keep it an environment where folks are comfortable.

Came to this location after a very long time and it has just gotten worse. They charge annual maintenance fee but the maintenance is no where to be seen. Extremely humid in here, dirty machines
that are in bad shape most likely due to neglect. By far the worst La fitness location in New York.

I have been coming to this gym since they opened a few years ago. Recently it has been getting harder and harder to keep my membership here. Weights are all over the place. Machines are constantly broken and take time to fix. I feel like I am at a high school gym, nothing but groups of kids using the machines. The other day two groups of kids almost got into a fight inside the gym. They actually walked outside to fight and the cops were called. Hopefully something is done to remedy some of this or else I will be looking for a new gym.

Update: lowering my stars to 1. Treadmills, stair masters, cables and machines broken for months causing members to wait for machines. Never see anyone trying to fix them. Not sure where our membership fees go.

I've been going to this location for a few years since 2021 and really liked it as my small neighborhood gym but it has gone downhill a bit since then unfortunately. There are way too many people at this location now and the management doesn't control the member count and therefore is not enough equipment for everyone. Especially benches and squat racks because you know, everyone does chest and squats and there is always waits. It is also somewhat dirty, the old carpeting needs to be replaced, and multiple pieces of equipment are broken and barely serviced. The Stewart avenue location just got a nice renovation and new equipment so I've been going to that one more recently. And never try to go after work between the hours of 4pm and 8pm as it's packed with groups of broccoli haired high school and college students clogging up the equipment in their groups of 4 to 5 kids.
