This has been the worst Management I have experienced at La Fitness in my 10 years as member. 7 staff standing around the front the desk goofing off meanwhile I go into the locker room they are out of soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Not a concern at all from the staff only giggles. I have had 3 incidences of theft since Kayla became the manager the past year and previously never did. I am convinced it is employee/theft misconduct. She lacks Customer Service Skills and Managerial. Any interaction with her or her team has become a juncture for coaching. They act similar to prison guards and gangsters instead of Staff Member Services. Will the days return when Members used to look forward going to the Gym at Lake Grove instead of dreading the miserable staff? No one wants to sign up for the pilates and they should have competed the renovation from years ago including the locker room. Its unpleasant to be around Kayla and her crew. I know I am not the only one that feels this way.

Talk about a gym that fell off. Has all the potential but just isn’t cared for. Dumbbells are all over the place, curl bars are never on the racks. Staff never cleans up the areas. Day after day it looks the same. The locker room/bathroom looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. Poop stains on all toilets for days without being cleaned. Soaps rarely filled. Save yourself the time and give your money to crunch fitness down the road.

Dumbbells are never in the rack. Always have to go searching for the weight you need. But it’s clean and they have a lot of machines and equipment. Love the turf area.

Clean gym, can get busy in the afternoon but usually not too bad. Staff and members have been pretty chill.

I like this gym location more then most. It has spacious areas workout in, multiple variety of equipment from cardio, weight lifting, and free weights. The staff are professional, kind and curious to clients. I find other clients are nice as well, and more open to talking then at other locations. Only thing that needs fixing, elipical machines are out of date and need be replaced, some weight lifting machines like arm curl etc need replacing. Also, the bags in this gym are filled with concrete. I can go to any other location go bare handed with the bags. This location, filled them with concrete. They need update the list of protein smoothies as well at the juice bar. Honestly, every location should be modeled after this location minus filling bags with concrete.

This gym used to be my favorite location, the size is great and I never have an issue getting on a machine. The staff is very friendly but this gym is absolutely DISGUSTING. God forbid, you have to use a stall.. every single toilet has piss on the seats or feces everywhere. If you need a paper towel, GOOD LUCK bc it’s always out or has a “for service” sign on it for months now. The showers are nasty, water pressure inconsistent and half the time there is no soap. I feel like they updated the gym to get members and now since Centereach closed, they don’t have to actively put renovations or proper cleaning into it. This is not against the employees who work here, just the staffing ratio or oversight. Besides the bathroom/locker rooms, the gym itself is great. If I didn’t have to shower before work, I would never walk into them LOL.

You know I really hate to leave this review but I'm sorry I have to the front desk. Workers are very professional and nice but one thing I noticed is I'm not racist, but why is it that some of the White girls they walked past you and giggle! and they laugh for what because you're jealous of the sexiness? I experience something today where there was two white girls that was in the locker room one of the white girls walked past me with a phone and then walked back past me and says oh yeah my phone is safe. The black girl didn't take it really?? I don't know why the White girls always wanna play victim start drama Throw Rocks ! and hide their hands now what if I would have responded to her little comment ?Then I would've been the bad guy!! Smh!🤦🏽‍♀️ jealousy is like cancer!!

If I could give a star I would, I went to the Gym and my 3-year-old son was with me, we did the entrance and checked in to leave him at the Kids care, I left him there and after about 15 minutes I came back to see how he was and found him alone and crying, then we were told that the Kids lacks was closed, but when we entered and checked in they didn't tell us anything.

They have a demand for basketball yet every summer the basketball court has no air conditioning and is 100 degrees, the court is always dusty, and basically any time in evening and night it is used as a volleyball court

Even though this is a “signature” club, the equipment is old. The apholstery is all ghetto and torn. The upkeep of the changerooms are sub par, and there are also tonnes of flies in the showers. Part of it may be due to the clientele, but this place needs at least 3 more staff to mainstain upkeep and cleanliness. Also no towel service despite it being “signature”.

this gym kind of sucks. equipment is always broken and the weight rack is a mess. There’s not enough of each weight either. I’ve never had this problem this other gyms. At crunch everything is organized. the weight rack is in order, there is tons of each weight, and easy to find what you need.
I only switched for the pool, but very disappointing.

I’ve been to many gyms from this chain all along the East Coast, and I can say this location could be a great one — but I’d give it 1 out of 5 stars because of how messy it is.

Nobody puts the weights back where they belong. You end up walking in circles around the gym just trying to find a matching pair of dumbbells or handles for the cable machines.

The locker room is also filthy. The shower curtains are covered in mold, and the showers are full of tiny black flies — seriously, there are hundreds of them just sitting on the walls.

I’ve seen other gyms manage everything way better. It just seems like nobody here is keeping things in check.

Okay, I’ll give them one extra point for the working sauna — that’s a rare find in LA Fitness.

I was skeptical to try out this location because of reviews on here saying that it was dirty, so I first tried out the Farmingville location and then the Smithtown location. I must say, this is the biggest and best one out of all of them in my opinion. My only 2 complaints are that it’s a little hot in there for the people working out and the temperature should be lower to be more comfortable for everyone and difficult to find the smaller weighted dumbbells. The dumbbell section seems unorganized. Other than that, I like this gym the best out of all three that I’ve checked out so far.

Has gone downhill since Centereach closed.
Overcrowded & dumbbells are always missing.
Today was the first time in my life that I walked out of a workout halfway through because I got sick of waiting for equipment.

There was an issue a few weeks back where most of the pins were missing from machines & they just put up signs that they were handling it & asking for patience… Just place an Amazon order for new pins? I did that and mine came in 2 days..

Then once the issue was fixed, there were employees asking people to leave 5 star reviews as you walked in & offering you free day passes… to the gym you already pay for?
Obviously there were a ton of bad reviews after the pin issue.

2 stars because this gym has potential. It’s a huge space, and it used to be really good - it’s just not maintained anymore. I’d be willing to pay more for a better run gym

As I was walking out I was stopped by an employee asking me to write a 5 star review in return for a 3 day guest pass (which makes no sense, I literally pay to go here). They must have gotten such bad reviews with how nasty this gym is that they’re literally desperate. I’ve since deleted my 5 star review and am making this one to bring light to the fact that they’re doing such a thing. The reality is that some machines are out of order (and have been for a while), pins WERE hard to come by (has since been fixed, for now), locker rooms are dirty and smell awful, and so much more. There’s so many better options for gyms that I don’t know why I’m even going here anymore. The pool…? I’ve used it once (I’m a lifeguard). Overall I was able to get a better workout at planet fitness for a fraction of the price. There needs to be some internal reflection with management, because pressing people to write you 5 star reviews is most certainly not the answer.
