Edit As of 11/13/2025: I am updating my negative review to a positive review of this LA fitness because Corporate LA fitness stepped their game-up and fixed this location and addressed a lot--a lot-- of our concerns. In short: it's STILL a new and one of the better La fitness locations for the area. Defiantly worth visiting!

Lots of things that were broken, not working or stolen were fixed, maintained and replaced at this location--good to see that LA corporate read our concerns and came to this location's help.Well done!

Location is very nice: Near downtown New Rock and lots of things to do. Public transit and e-bikes available.

Lots of Parking, free wi-fi, free water, good tunes and environment.

Dead-lifting is now allowed here! I don't know who in their right mind would discourage Dead-lifting on Dead-lift platforms (they have three dead-lifting platforms F.Y.I... but their OLD rule(s) were just plain dumb-- AND MADE NO SENSE. Dead-lift loud and proud! And chalk up!I'm glad this location takes strength training seriously.

A large selection of equipment can be found here: plenty of Flat benches, three power-racks with platforms and with Olympic plates, Technique Barbells barbells and "stiff barbells", lots of machines for everybody part, two-smith machines, Dumbells up-to 100lbs, stretching room, lots of cardio machines ...not bad at all.

Sauna. Works fine and is cleaned regularly. Wonderful!

AC Works great during a heat wave and all through the gym floor--air flow and circulating air makes for an enjoyable training session!

It does get a bit crowded.That's not too much of a problem because their is plenty of equipment and members are polite here: sharing, politely asking if they can use the equipment next, etc.

Pool is still not open (?). Not entirely sure what their issue is. But still remains closed? Why?

Too many lazy people not re-racking weights ruin this location. This seems to plague all LA fitness location and this one is no exception.

4/5 stars worth coming here on a daily basis.

I'm a regular, and I love this gym, but there are two major issues with LA Fitness.

(1) There is a lot of staff turnover. Since new personal trainers and sales reps are constantly hired, some of them don't know the regulars and can be very aggressive with their sales tactics. As a regular who is being targeted, it's annoying and can feel like borderline harassment when I'm being asked 5 different times in a span of 2 weeks for personal training sessions that I don't want. I had to tell one of them to leave me alone. This is a gym, not a used car lot.

(2) The pool has been broken for over a year. Some of the equipment has been broken for months and never fixed (stair master, hip thrust machine, etc). There's no reason that the equipment should stay broken.

Other than that, I really like this gym, the members, and the staff that has been consistent.

I went to the gym for the first time to go to one of the instructor's class who switched from LA Fitness which was once Xsport within Bay Plaza Mall.
Travis travels to Eastchester now (I will also work it out to go there )and has also been coming to this gym for a while. I never went to this particular gym before due to conflicts in my class schedule with the other gym but now that things have switched up I felt like I needed to go here to make sure that I get my workout in since I'm trying to be consistent now. The class was great as usual and the space was a decent size. I think the only thing I miss a little bit was having two floors but that's not a big deal. The locker room was very clean and the area where the equipment was was also pretty clean as well. I also saw a lot of machines which I will utilize one of these days. The only thing I used today other than going to the class was the treadmill and it seemed like all of them worked which was definitely a step up from the last gym I was at. So far I would have recommend based off this first experience.

Review for LA Fitness – New Rochelle Location

I’ve been a member at LA Fitness for quite some time, and I have to say that the management and staff at the New Rochelle location really need to go back to training. It’s clear that there is a major lack of communication and consistency among the team — everyone should be on the same page, but they’re not.

On two separate occasions, I was left confused and embarrassed because of miscommunication on their part. The experience felt unprofessional, and it seemed like no one cared about me, my well-being, or my time.

Overall, I do not recommend this location based on staff interaction and poor management. There needs to be serious improvement in customer service and communication.

Jeph Okine did my initial training session on Saturday. I have always scheduled or said I would do one of these training sessions just to see where I’m at and what’s possible? OMG Jeph made it a whole experience. He maintained his professionalism while keeping it so much fun. Been a silver sneakers member for past 6 months and have met many team members at the New Rochelle location.
LA Fitness is fortunate to have an employee like Chris Camas. From the minute I met him it was quite apparent his true passion is to help people. Nobody at this location compares to him. He does everything with a smile and easily multitasks when it’s busy.
I have worked in retail banking for 50 years, and recently retired. I would hire him in a minute! He’s a keeper.

I am updating my review. Nothing to do with staff. A complaint about misleading me and a vast majority of members who have been told the pool was “opening soon”. Over 2 years later it is still not open. Several months ago they filled it with water. The color of the water looks like a sewage treatment plant.
I would NEVER swim in water like that.
What a shame. I believe the pool facility cannot pass inspection for whatever reasons?!
The fact that it has not opened in all this time sends out a red flag to me. Too bad.

I’ve been coming to this LA Fitness for quite some time now, and I’ve watched the trainers work with their clients day in and day out. As a former trainer myself, it’s been pretty disappointing to see how disengaged many of them seem during sessions.

But today, I had the chance to watch a fairly new trainer named Simone, and I was really impressed. She created an amazing routine for his client and was fully engaged the entire time. Not only was he motivating and knowledgeable, but he was also his client’s biggest cheerleader throughout the session.

That’s the kind of trainer every health club needs.

Recently, I’ve decided to go to La fitness here at new Rochelle, NY. I was curious if they had opened the pool yet, they did not. I’ve been waiting since January 2025 for them to open the pool and nothing since then. Then February came along and there was water. From February to July, the water was clear and bright blue chlorine. However, recently I’ve discovered that the water is dirty and it’s all green 🤮🤮 la fitness new Rochelle do better and open this pool up. It’s been 2 years and the people are waiting. Do better.

Had a really poor experience with a personal trainer that I spent a lot of money on with hopes to build confidence and fitness. However, Alex, refused to modify workouts to fit my ability level. The floors and bathrooms are nasty. I attempted to cancel my membership and I was told it's the managers policy that I have to come in person between 9-5 on a weekday to cancel. New York State Senate Bill S932D which was signed into law REQUIRES gyms to allow someone to cancel their membership over the phone. This new gym, opened in 2023, is very spacious, has plenty of equipment and is well ventilated. However, there are a few issues:

The layout of the gym is confusing. The offices are right smack in the middle of the gym, and most of the work out equipment is in the back, while the arm machines and related are tucked into a small room on the right. The lockers are all the way in the back on the left.

What really has shocked me, and the only reason why I visited, was because this location said it has a pool and whirlpool spa. Yeah, no. The pool + spa has not been finished since the gym opened. There is nothing indicating this on the gym's website or at the front desk. I only found out when I went to go use it and the hallway said NO ONE EXCEPT EMPLOYEES BEYOND THIS POINT. It's been almost two years, how does it take two years for the pool to open? That is the only reason I came to this location.

Michael Ramirez is a phenomenal representative of LA Fitness. He is knowledgeable, caring and impeccably maintains the facility. His assistant Maya is also phenomenal and took excellent care of me! I highly recommend this specific facility. It’s clean, machines are ALL new, and the staff is outstanding!

Maria from the personal training program was extremely rude to me merely because she was feeling “overwhelmed “ . I signed up to LA fitness as a member and also for their personal training program. Before I did, I made it clear that I will soon transfer to active and fit. She told me there will not be an issue. Once I do just let one of the staff know and they will take care of it. Hence, when I was ready, I went to the front desk. I wastold they will freeze my account but everything should be fine. Like always, I booked a session with my personal training and we had an amazing work out. Before leaving I was told that I was not supposed to see a personal trainer since I canceled my membership. I was very surprised to hear this news because: 1- I didn’t cancel my membership and 2- I still paid and have no balance due. So I went to Maria to understand and to clarify the situation. Upon arriving to her desk, she seemed very shaking. When I raised my concern she quickly replied with an annoyance tone I can’t talk about this right now, I just gothere and I m feeling very overwhelmed because I’m alone today. She told me to give my active and fit number to my personal trainer. anyway things were still unclear so I decided to reach out to Maria again. She stood across me and continued with the same tone as if I was annoying her and inconveniencing her. I calmly reinhfore that I was simply looking for clarity. Again because she was having a bad day she told me “ Stella I start at 9 and it not even 9 yet. You’re holding me right now and I’m not going to have this talk with you I’m going to walk away” which she did. I understand that some days are harder than others.I understand that her coworkers did not notice her of the changes that were happening in my account but the question is should costumers who are paying tolerate disrespect of a worker simply because she’s feeling overwhelmed or simply because they had a miscommunication between staff? I have a gym in my building I could easily just stay home and workout. I chose to pay monthly on time for a service and in return I felt like I was an inconvenience and disrespected simply because Maria from the personal training department felt overwhelmed that day. This is not okay. And I’ll say thisif the job is too much quit. No one is paying to be yelled at, to feel disrespected, to be talked to like they are an inconvenience . Remember we the member are the reason why you can eat. If you’re overwhelmed take a day off- go to therapy and while at it learn emotional intelligence so you can know how to managed your emotions.

Weeks later i still haven't heard from Maria yet they are still charging me for the personal training program after i made it clear i will not continue because i was disrespected. instead of Maria calling like a professional to understand and appease the situation everyday she's sending a random worker to call me to clean her mess.

While the gym itself offers a nice variety of equipment and is kept clean, it is not a customer service oriented place. They are great at selling but not when you want to make changes to or downgrade a package. They are inflexible (management decision is what I’m told), and rude (truly unnecessary) Customer service training is needed. In the end management agreed to continue the deal I had gotten but it sure has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Also still waiting for the pool to open!! Two years and counting and the answer is always “soon”.

Leave phone, keys, or wallet, to use certain items? How about a sign in sheet with member info (member ID, name?!)

Besides the security issues with leaving keys and wallet with strangers with access to your home address and other pertinents, how about the hygienic one? In the age of covid.

Here for 6 more months (paid for 18) then I'm going to one of the comparably priced smaller gyms. Without the elementary aged accountability practices. Where's management? More likely it was their idea. Sad.

In management this indicates not only lack of foresight at the top (management), but also that there is inhibition in subordinates in making honest, open, recommendations. I say this because I cannot believe no one has thought of this.

Agaid, sad, because besides this, the gym is pretty nice.

I’ve had an amazing experience while being in this gym, so far nothing to complain about . Great customer service , Micheal helped me with my membership and gave me great offers . I’ve been going here for a month and it’s a very welcoming place and not to mention they have many machines for various types of workouts which i think is great, they even have a sauna room. Can’t wait for the pool to open!!! i 100% recommend coming to this gym .

Overcrowded any time! They’ll be begging for a google review the moment you sign up , and also If you wanna cancel the membership be aware that you need to go do it Monday to Friday 9 to 5pm haha.
