Ronnie gave us a great walkthrough of the whole place, detailed, patient, and actually seemed to *care* about what we were looking for rather than rushing us. He broke down the member perks, class options, and even pointed out a few things most gyms don’t bother mentioning. Friendly, professional, and zero sales pressure nonsense.

The gym itself is solid: plenty of machines even during busier hours, weights aren’t scattered like a crime scene, and the cardio area is clean with equipment that doesn’t sound like it’s about to take flight. Locker rooms were tidy, sauna was on point, and the overall vibe felt welcoming, not intimidating.

If you’re shopping around for a gym, this location is absolutely worth checking out, ask for Ronnie. He’ll actually make the tour enjoyable, which is saying something for a gym tour.

Giving up. I surrender. They have worked hard to get me there but Im ending my membership. Perinton location has a hit tub broken for almost the entire time its been open. Dry sauna broken benches for two years and now yellow tape on one that is caved in while temps dont go over 100. Plus spotty hot water and staff issues. Downtown "Signature" a little better but same issue with steam room being down for weeks and months at a time. Yet they advertise and charge for these things. Everything breaks down. But months and years isn't equipment maintenance, its neglect. Joined the Y yesterday. Id rather pay a bit more to not deal with these things. I gave it three years and no one there is listening.

Broken equipment does not get fixed nearly quick enough and the dry sauna has been off for years because of a lawsuit due to it's faulty design burning down other clubs. Why can't La Fitness corporate hire a company to upgrade them? Oh, that would cost money and time, something they want to take from us but not give back.

I wish there was another mid-tier gym in the area, I'd change to it in a heartbeat.

I had to call about an issue where someone signed up at the Rochester, NY location using my email address. The staff member confirmed that the contract was signed there, and while he did say he would remove my email, he was unable (or unwilling) to provide any sort of confirmation or even connect me to their corporate office. His response? That he didn’t have the number.

I live in California, so having to deal with an issue at a Rochester, NY location made it even more frustrating when the staff couldn’t provide proper assistance or direct me to corporate.

Mistakes happen, but the way they are handled says everything about a company. If LA Fitness wants to be seen as professional and trustworthy, their staff needs to be trained to actually assist customers — not just brush them off.

I've been a member since they opened and it's a good gym with a lot of options. It's generally clean and the staff is polite. The fitness classes are always well run. The pool and lifeguard are one of the key amenities at this location. I like the towel service compared to other LAF in the area.

The infrared sauna has been broken for a long time and it doesn't seem like it'll return. They don't seem to enforce the front handicap parking spots as there's a few vehicles that park there frequently without any hanging placard or visible handicap plates.

For a signature club, I am disappointment. I drive special to come out here to this gym because it had all the amenities I was looking for. But Things seem to be always broken or out of order. Biggest complaint - They "have a steam room," it does exist, It just hasn't worked for the last 6 months. They've taken down the repair sign which, I'm assuming, means they're probably not going to fix it.

If you want to be left alone its great, all the staff look completely dead inside and will pretend that you do not exist. Even if you ask for something given the chance they will point before talking to anyone.

That being said, its a gym most stuff works most of the time, other than that don't get your hopes up

These reviews here about "Matt" are so obviously fake and canned. The reviewers are all probably his friends. By the time this is posted, Matt has probably quit or been fired, because no one works at LA Fitness for more than a year. They all leave. The place is falling apart. For a "Signature" gym, it's pretty dirty, and the sauna and steam rooms have been inoperable ever since I joined. That band-aid has been on the same shower floor since last week. Gross. Equipment is getting dated and they never introduce any new machines. Their training is way overpriced, with child-trainers who have virtually no experience. Choose another gym, because this will be closing soon. Sad, this "Signature" gym gives the whole franchise a bad name. Bye.

I was a member since day 1 , over the years I seen the facility has not been kept up , the hot tub & steam room are ALWAYS broke , there can’t be a high demand for steam room repair men in Rochester they should be able to get someone to fix it .. also the infrared sauna has been closed for 3 years they need to convert to a regular sauna then ! I was charged for two full months that I didn’t even attend—twice—and despite repeated requests, they refused to issue a refund. No accountability, no professionalism, just straight-up theft disguised as "policy."

The staff couldn’t care less. Every time I asked about the charges, I got the runaround: “We’ll look into it,” “It’s with billing,” “You’ll hear back soon.” Guess what? Weeks went by—nothing. It's like they know exactly what they're doing and just hope you’ll give up. Unfortunately for them, I don’t.

This gym is all about squeezing money out of people without delivering any respect or integrity in return. If they can’t even manage simple billing properly, what does that say about how they run the rest of the place?

Bottom line: Do not give these people your credit card info. You’ll regret it. Spend your money somewhere that values honesty and basic customer service.

Really nice facility - unfortunately, it's generally poorly maintained: as noted elsewhere, the sauna has been down for years, and the steam room is often out-of-service, equipment down for multiple weeks, dirty changing rooms, soap dispensers often empty. Front desk staff very pleasant, on-site managers are sometimes great and sometimes less-so, but no worries: no one seems to stay in that position for more than six months. It must be frustrating - I think corporate really restricts what a manager can do to maintain/improve the facility, and are focused solely on maximizing revenue.

I recently visited the LA Fitness on East Ave. and it was really nice. Very pleasant staff and the equipment and locker rooms are clean. Most of the equipment is in use and in good condition. Highly recommend to get your summer body ready. It’s also a very motivating atmosphere that focuses on health and reaching your body goals.

Worse signature Club I’ve ever been too. Nothing EVER WORKS PROPERLY IN THERE. The SAUNA IN THE MALE locker room is always off and caused someone to get cancer. THE STEAM ROOM NEVER WORKS. It is always cold in the steam room. The Hot tub is always off. The gym is too small to never be cleaned. Please GET SOME HELP ON EAST AVE…
