I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this Lifetime at 23rd street. Daniel the front desk employee is not friendly or welcoming to guests. His negative and aggressive attitude made the entire interaction unnecessarily unpleasant when I check-in. The manager couldn’t care less and just kept looking at her computer. Finally, a female staff member stepped in and helped resolve my issue professionally and cordially.

Overall pleasant experience. I would suggest using less eucalyptus in the steam room. I’m usually a fan of it, but it’s absolutely overbearing to the point that it stings my eyes.

Great helpful staff, beautiful gym…but..
With big windows on at least three of the four walls…why is all the equipment turned inward? not one piece of cardio equipment facing outward…forced to watch other people walk jog and sweat…not my thing.. It’s strange and uncomfortable…prob a reason to mot use this location,

Wanted a tour to see if I liked it more than Chelsea Piers. But won't be coming back here, especially if Daniel is at the front desk. He was the opposite of friendly or welcoming. If that's the type of staff here, I don't want to be at this gym.

Not a huge fan, sauna was broken and the gym is so busy you can’t get on a rack or many of the strength stations. When you do they are all Technogym anyway which is not the best choice of equipment at all. The staff were brilliant at the front desk though and the shakes are very good at the cafe!

Really cramped, It's a nice gym and all but walking in the setup was slightly confusing because it's a small lifetime. It's hard to get on machines and squat racks are almost never free.

Paying >$300 for an employer-sponsored plan that includes Lifetime access. Manager turned me away, citing there was no way for the gym to let me in without a prior appointment even though I’ve checked in at other busier Lifetime locations with no issues. Don’t see why it would be a big deal to let me in as a courtesy when I’m already a paying member. When I presented my issue, the manager had me wait on line behind other guests instead of just telling me from the get-go that I couldn’t go in. Did the same to the other guests behind me. Waste of 30 minutes commuting and waiting around for him. I’ve had an easier time getting into Equinox on a free day pass as a non-paying guest

Perhaps a reservation system or being more friendly to lane sharing would help.

How anyone could say these gyms are dirty they are crazy. This location is my daily gym but then on weekends go to the 56 street location. Love both locations. Pool at 56th is my fav for east booking but the 23rd is beautiful with the huge skylight roof. 23rd can be a little bro’ey but considering the area it makes sense. All the locations are spacious. Pools in almost all as well which is a hug selling point for me. They did recently raise the monthly fee but still affordable for a luxury gym.

Gym is excellent and clean! However, Some of the staff member is incredibly RUDE!
Initially planned to eat lunch in the sitting area downstairs but was told by the male with glasses at the front desk that no outside food/drink was allowed in a very demanding manner.
We were like ok and began to pack up stuff to go outside the gym to eat. Proceeded to call over another staff member (I assume is the higher manager) 2 MINS after to inquire us again about leaving /eating with a demanding tone, almost like kicking us out. Meanwhile I had seen other members of the gym sitting in the areas with drinks and coffee. Wasn’t sure why was me and my partner targeted.

Top-tier gym experience in the heart of Manhattan.
Life Time 23rd Street is truly a standout. The space is immaculate, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. Every detail—from the high-end equipment to the spa-like amenities—feels state-of-the-art. The staff are warm, professional, and make you feel genuinely welcome. It’s an inspiring place to work out, recover, and recharge.
The only downside is that the pool was under maintenance during my visit, but I’m looking forward to seeing it back in action soon. Overall, one of the best fitness experiences NYC has to offer.

Total frat house/sorority gym. Many are paying a deeply reduced membership due to partnerships with large corporations while the rest of us pay $329 a month for an overcrowded, lackluster gym experience. Great location, clean facility, but what’s the point of any of that if you can hardly workout due to overcrowding? This gym is for those who love classes, swimming pools and free towels. You definitely get a lot of good cardio here while constantly pacing the floor looking for open equipment.

While the machines are nice, the Women's locker rooms leave a lot of room for improvement. Specifically:
- Showers and sinks are not cleaned frequently enough during the early morning rush and often have clumps of hair
- The outlets at the sinks are constantly losing power if more than 2 people are drying their hair
- The water fountain's water pressure isn't sufficient - if someone is using the fountain and the bottle filler at the same time, the water pressure goes down significantly
They've also closed the pool for five weeks for repair starting on 3/31. So be aware of that!
Overall, member pay a premium to have nice facilities and this particular one is wanting. DUMBO is much nicer.

I joined LifeTime 23rd because when I moved to the neighborhood, I was seeking out a nice, new gym with high quality amenities. I’ve been a member there for almost a year now, and can confidently say that the equipment is fantastic, the layout is great and the trainers are all very friendly. I am currently doing an 8 week program with Chase Cruz in preparation for HYROX and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience so far. He’s encouraging, motivates me when I need it, and is very attentive during our sessions. I highly recommend seeking out Chase as your trainer!

This lifetime is great. I just cannot come here to train hamstrings because the lying hamstring machine is very messed up. I don’t know what it is but when I use 50 pounds it feels like 100 and this is only at this location pen one I use 90 pounds fine on the lying hamstring at penn one. I don’t think it’s well maintained maybe it’s old and they need to change it. My $50 A month gym Had a better lying hamstring curl than this gym and this gym is 290 a month. The seated hamstring Seat has been broken for almost 2 months. They need to get It together if they want to charge 290 a month Get better machines. The four star review is mostly because of the cleanliness of the locker rooms and the convenience of the Spa. Also, I wish the customer service was a little bit friendlier at the front no one really ever says goodbye or hello. I remember one time I went in there and the guy called me by my name and told me to have a great workout. I don’t think he works there anymore but that is something I will never forget that is luxury customer service that you expect from a $290 a month gym.

5 stars ONLY for Tues & Thurs GTX morning with Shaimane and decent sauna in women’s locker room. Otherwise, 1 star for poor customer service, esp for the ridiculous membership fee. Rented a locker for $100 a month that was filthy and dusty. Have to cancel with a 30 day notice EXACTLY one month before on the day, cannot request advance cancellation. Ridiculous, poor, inconvenient, and not worth it. Disappointing.

I have been going to this Lifetime location for a few months now and overall have enjoyed my experience! I recently did a few personal training sessions with Chase and highly recommend him as an instructor. He was very helpful and patient, teaching me new workout routines with clear explanations and encouragement. Being someone who doesn’t typically use a lot of different machines at the gym, Chase made me feel comfortable trying new things. He tailored our sessions to my fitness goals, and I’ve already noticed progress after only a few sessions!

Worst location LifeTime operates, such a poorly maintained location. All other locations I have been to have been great. Nice gym but I would expect more for the membership cost.
Main complaints:
- Not enough bikes. Only of the 4 stages bikes (and 1 has a bad seat) and they are always full during peak hours. They should move some bikes from the cycle studio to the main area. The bikes in the cycle studio aren't available when there is a class, but the classes usually aren't full.
- They have a group classes every morning and it they take up a lot of space, most of the treadmills and open area.
- Not enough squat racks and cable machines, these are almost always full during peak times.
- Not a well laid out gym, there isn't enough floor space for stretching.

Worst office staff (front desk and cleaning team have been great), worst manager, and worst group fitness problem supports of any location and any same tier gym I’d been. Rude, pull off responsibilities, show no respect to a customer. I got upset for a couple of times and decided to withdraw my membership with LT and join Equinox instead.
1. Once for a cycling class I right arrived on time but instructor gave my booking to others without my consent, and asked me to leave since no space left. Instructor claimed it’s a “rule” if I don’t arrive more than 5 mins ahead they will cancel me. Never heard about it before. No one called me ahead either (standard practice in SoulCycle). I complained and the 23rd St manger replied a dry email trying to “educate”me and told me that unfortunately they couldn’t do anything.
2. When I called in to adjust my membership, they gave me an attitude, suggested me not to come in during their busy hours and I have to bring my ID and Partner Membership holder as well to proof me is me.
3. Cafe employees are miserable. They should be treated better.
Advice: find a qualified good manager to rebrand 23rd St location, offer more necessary trainings to employee, and learn from your Dumbo location, they are fabulous.

Worst staff of any location. Will go out of their way to do as little as possible. Recovery section is unmanaged. At this location, you have to ask staff for normatec despite staff not being around. They also can’t tell the difference between hips, legs, and arms for normatec. I’ve had to point it out and explain it to them multiple times. Can’t imagine how bad their training is if the staff can’t even identify equipment. When you do see staff, they’re either on their phone, trying their best to walk away from you, or working out.
Update: happened again. Workers just chatting with coworkers and working out.

Equipment is top tier, staff is super nice! If you go to the gym primarily to lift weights though, I would 100% recommend a different location. Layout and structure of the gym is awful, and clearly not geared toward lifting. Not only that, but there is really poor/entitled culture with the people that go here. At 6am you’ll have to wait 45 minutes for 1 out of 4 squat racks because the person you’re waiting on is doing an entire leg workout without caring there are 4 people behind them. People leave their weights all over the place, and frequently claim multiple stations during peak hours. This is where I wish the staff do something, as they are frequently pacing around the floor with clients due to lack of available equipment. Chelsea Piers fitness just opened two blocks away, probably best to look there if you’re serious about lifting. Sauna is broke every other week. Want to love this place after two years but getting overcrowded by people with no gym etiquette :(

I have been coming to this location for the last month and have had a positive experience every time. There was enough cardio equipment for everyone to go around. But the weight section needs to be included.
PROS:
1. There is space to move around and put a mat on the floor for dumbbell work.
2. The music is not unbearably loud
3. I have never had to wait for a cardio machine
4. Normal people (not everyone is a supermodel)
5. The place has been well-kept, and I wonder why everyone complains about unkept locker rooms. When I am there, there is always an attendant cleaning, and I've had no complaints.
* I am not even going to put this in PROS because this is the main reason why I keep coming back every time, and that is the Pilates with Julie. Pilates is not for the weak, and I took my very first Pilates class here, and it has changed my life. It is an experience that is worth every penny. The classes are reasonably priced, and Julie (the instructor) makes the class worth even more. Pilates is only as great as the instructor; Julie has been doing this for over 40 years. I feel welcomed, unjudged, and supported. If you are already a Lifetime member, I'd highly suggest taking a Pilates class with Julie, which will ultimately elevate your experience.
CONS:
Even though Lifetime is a nice gym, and I've been enjoying my time there, I would say the "gym bros" at this location are brutal. Every weight machine is taken by a 20-something-year-old guy who does a set of one, sits there for 20 minutes, and repeats for an hour. This definitely takes away from the experience since you are left waiting for something to open up. I am not huge on weight machines, but I'm waiting for someone to leave when I want to get them in.

Please make people with long hair wear swim caps and take a shower before swimming. It’s the law.
Please tell the senior locker room person to treat members with respect. The showers close at 1030 pm NOT 1015 pm. ALWAYS an attitude and comment from her every time I use this branch.
Clean the sauna ! There’s a pile of lint under the heater.

Very expansive fitness floor that offers all that you need to look and feel good. High-end machines and environment. The trainers there will assist you with finding machines if you are looking for something. Friendly place and has an awesome vibe to it that suits New York City—the biggest Life Time fitness floor in the greater Midtown area. The Life Cafe does not have hot food because of all the surrounding restaurants in the area, but they do offer protein and regular drinks, snacks, breakfast items, and a few other things.

Was absolutely shocked how dirty all the towels are. As soon as they get wet they smell horrible of mildew (bacteria). Nothing like wiping dirty towels all over your skin after a shower. I think I threw about 20 towels into the dirty bin before finding one that smelled half as bad as the others. Can’t wait to get home and take a shower. Hopefully this location discovers what wonders bleach can do… asap.

Please, please, clean the women’s sauna under the wood! My goodness it’s disgusting! It looked like that since last year October. Shower floors were super filthy today while women were just walking around barefoot on top of it. I was just so uncomfortable showering. I have traveled to Lifetime locations all over the country in the decade I have been a member.... this club is definitely memorable and gorgeous! I love that the yoga studio has its own space. the locker rooms are clean and having steam a d dry sauna in the locker room is awesome. smallest LT pool I've seen.... but it's nice. as far as Lifetime goes this is a small size gym without a lot of programs and activities--- no kids academy, spa, or basketball courts, rockwall.... no pickleball... but what they do have is in pristine condition and the vibe is very posh.

This Life Time has to be the worst in the city. The men’s locker room shower area is so disgusting and they never mop it, so everyone’s hair and disgusting water collects in the center. It’s so unclean that I’m going to bring it to the attention of senior management and the CEO in an email. It’s unacceptable paying $249/mo plus tax for it to be this way. They need to be mopping it twice hourly at least. The men’s steam room is also disgusting and needs to be cleaned (it never is - the floors are filthy and it smells bad). There’s also a super annoying trainer on weekends who shouts and it’s disruptive to others working out.

I’ve had an equinox membership and a lifetime membership. I do like this club, staff and gym is really nice and it’s less busy than other gyms. The locker rooms however NEED to be cleaner. For my first time at a Lifetime Gym, I'm not particularly impressed. Long story short, the building/machines are nice and well-maintained (for the most part), but the little details aren't being kept up. Hoping that the Wall Street and Midtown locations are a bit nicer.
Cons:
1. Little things like the quality and finish of the hair dryer. I don't expect a Dyson, but this is a hair dryer you'd find in a $99/night hotel. Both of the units in the men's locker room also had very visible wear, and the speed settings were completely worn off.
2. The "cleaning station" at the incline bench press was a bottle of hand sanitizer and paper towels, no sanitizer bottle to be found. At another part of the gym, there was the standard "wet nap" style of wipes, but I didn't bother trying those.
3. Towels are visibly old and pretty thin. They're either so old they've started to yellow, or they're being dried on too high of a heat by whoever cleans the towels. (I didn't see an in-house laundry for them, but I didn't check too hard.)
4. There was a lot of random empty space. The #/type of machines they had was above average for a normal gym, I'd say similar or better than an average Equinox. That said, I feel like they could be using the space they have more efficiently, with a potentially even greater variety of machines.
5. The locker room is decorated nicely, but it has lots of little nooks and crannies, I'd imagine it's not fun to clean. That said, when I came today around 230pm, there was a not insignificant amount of hair in the little nook I selected. The locker itself was pretty clean, and the vanities were a bit messy/hairy when I arrived but were cleaned by the time I was finished with my workout.
6. Pretty small hot tub, no cold plunge or ice bath. I didn't bother testing it today, but my initial impressions of it were middling.
7. Beautiful stairwell leading up to the gym, but the color/style of the marble and lack of friction tape made it a bit precarious going down it. I assume it’s ADA, but visually was a bit hard to tell as I was going down where each step ended.
Pros:
1. All of the staff were/looked friendly. The woman at the front desk was professional and very smartly dressed. We had to wait ~10 minutes for a membership advisor to get my membership activated because I'm signed up to be a founding member of their midtown location, though that wasn't her fault and she handled it well.
2. Once I was in contact with the membership advisor, he was very knowledgeable and helpful, was able to answer my questions about this and other locations, and got me processed quickly.
3. Being able to use the InBody any time I want will be very nice; TMPL/Equinox had them available for a price/with personal training.
4. Lockers were large enough and deep, combo-style, no issues.
5. Men's steam and sauna were large and got hot. Steam room needed to be cleaned when I used it around 3pm, but it wasn't dirty enough for me to not want to use it. (I'm not sure if it had been cleaned that day yet.) I wasn't convinced about the "press for steam" style vs the timer initially, but it eventually filled the room with steam nicely, so I'm a fan.
6. All of the plate-loaded machines in the weight training area had plenty of plates. It was obvious that someone took the time to load/sort the weights on each machine, which I really appreciated.
This was just my initial impression of the gym, I’ll give an update after a few weeks to see how consistent things are.

The website clearly states that 2 people “living under the same dwelling with proof” can be under one membership. Meaning I would pay for 1 membership for 2 people right? Well no, even though I came in with my partner with proof of address the person at the front desk said the language on the website was miss leading, (I don’t see how as it’s clearly stated), and so I was strong armed to purchase 2 separate membership for $250 dollars each person.
I just wanted to enjoy my time at the gym with my partner when ever they were in town and now im stuck paying for a whole other membership while she only uses the gym 5 days a month, thus why I wanted to put them under my membership. Has anyone else experienced this? Otherwise the gym is to my liking.

I feel it is important for others to be warned about using Lifetime in the city. I do not recommend in the slightest.
I didn't mind the sauna being down every other week, or the hot water in the shower not working. Or even the gym being closed the entire day for cleaning and needing to walk across the city to find a different location.
But, what really upset me is having to pay more money to this company, even after giving them a 30 day notice that I will be moving out of the city. It is chaotic and expensive enough to navigate a move, even 30 days in advance but needing to be on back and forth phone calls with customer service representatives who badger me to renew and not help me terminate my account adds to the fuel. Before the 30 days began, they sold me on freezing my account for $15 a month instead of terminating despite telling them I was moving out of the city and needed termination. This, of course, made me spend even more money because now I could not terminate my membership without a $200 fee being applied since it would no longer qualify for the 30 day notice cancelation. When I called in to resolve this, they were incredibly rude and offered no resolution.
Lifetime Fitness works to scam people for more money. Use my experiences to educate yourself not to choose this as your gym membership. For the same price, even less, you can go to Equinox. They are friendly and care about their customers, unlike Lifetime.

Same services as the old HRC, but with a facelift after the remodel. And the staff has more attitude. Not worth twice the membership fee.

Joined last week.
First, good thing. Had a little stretch session with Maria and she is PHENOMENAL, give her all the yoga and pilates classes!
The facilities are nice. Like the eucalyptus steam room. Variety of classes. Essential oils at the end of Katrina's class is a nice touch too.
However, there really should be common courtesy guidelines for people who participate in group classes, that it's not their personal studio. Today during Stacy's yoga class one of the women set up a whole damn altar with 4 towels and a candle and was breathing like she was having an exorcism, I could't even hear the music, I had to leave. Also, at about 2pm I asked a guy at the front desk to use the cellphone, cause mine died, he gave me almost disgusted look and said ' ummmmm...I need that', like for what? U literally on the clock. Given, it was his personal cellphone but still, it could have been worded differently. So a charging station for cellphones would be nice.

Life Cafe always provides exceptional experiences leaving me with a smile on my face! The staff is so friendly and attentive to any substitutions/requests. The food to the beverages, (my favorites are the Mocha Madness Shake & Matcha Lattes-highly recommend) leave me satisfied and highly impressed. I am always treated with care and consideration and always look forward to stopping by!😊

The reason that I'm writing this review is because the customer service here is honestly amazing, especially compared to any other gym. I was a Lifetime member at the Boca Raton location in 2009, and recently joined this location in August after it just opened. The gym was beautiful, along with the locker rooms/facilities etc. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my membership today due to the fact that I had to relocate to Florida, where there is no Lifetime within a reasonable distance from me. I emailed them to let them know that I would be needing to cancel, and they called me right away, left a message and told me to call them back at my convenience. I called them today, and within several hours I got a confirmation email that my membership was cancelled, and then a follow up call from one of the membership managers - Mariah. The reason that Im writing this review is because I am soo impressed with the cancellation process and their overall professionalism. You do NOT see this often with gym's, if ever. Really appreciate the customer service. If they open up a Lifetime close to me I will 100% re-join.

This location isn't anything like all the other Lifetime Locations. Very rude staff tiny jacuzzi for two and it's not hot the gym is catered toward an older crowd.

Love this gym! State of the art equipment, never too crowded, great toiletries and amenities! I admit I never intended to stay a member bc of the price, but I find it’s worth it especially since their plan is month to month, and I also use the lobby as a workspace at times (just wish they would lower the music a bit for calls/mtgs taking place). I also had zero issues freezing for a month while I’m out of town. Looking forward to more locations opening soon!

Literally spent half of my days at this place. Even if I’m not working out. I particularly like the gluteus max class and the hot yoga class. The instructors are very friendly and helpful, the pool guys and girls as well! It’s all very clean and organized. Overall great location!

It’s my first time to join lifetime fitness. I went to the one in manhattan on 23rd street and the sky as well. Both facilities were very clean and staff was nice. I hope the continue to offer this quality service.

I used to goto this local when it was Nyhrc
I recently went in for a review
Wow total day to nite upgrade change
This place is beautiful
Well spaced clean
All top notch free weights and all digital weight machines that are truly an incredible workout of the tech future
The pool was open but ice cold water
The hot tub sauna steam room not open yet due to corvid restrictions
The price of 250 per month no contract is hilarious and not exactly a bargain as the salesman made it out to be
None the less the place is beautiful and hopefully when restrictions lift the other amenities will also

The cleanliness and member quality is very low here. I think for someone paying $250 a month they would have a good sense of cleaning up after themselves (to an extend) especially in the locker rooms. I’m not sure if Life Time is giving lower rates to corporate members because most of the members there are very much unclean and lack respect to other members. The sinks are left with mucus and hair. They take over the entire bench with their entire wardrobe and makeup closet on the bench. So I think Life Time should watch out to whome they give membership because I personally am going to cancel my membership. I don’t want to pay that money and get low quality service. Extremely low class members and not a clean club.

I was a member here when it was New York Health and Racquet Club. They closed for "renovations"…it ended up being over a year. Now they are Lifetime Fitness and charge $250 a month, three times more than what I was paying! Thank you but no thank you! And there fancy-schmancy high-tech lockers don't work half the time and you have to call a staff member who has a master key that can easily open any locker. I'd rather have an old-fashioned locker where I use my own combination lock, thank you.

Went there asking for rates and was told $250 a month. Really? We're in a pandemic now. I see the class of people they chose to join this gym.
