We love to lift weights. That’s all we do. And we love to do it from our custom built weight training studios located in downtown NYC. We have spent the last 7 years perfecting our weight training classes to make them the most effective, resistance based workouts in New York City. We believe that incorporating safe weight training workouts into your fitness program is key. LIFTONIC is the missing ingredient in your current workout routine because we focus on keeping your muscles under tension which is the most efficient way to; build muscle, lose weight (body fat), improve posture, increase metabolism, and so much more. LIFTONIC group weight training classes are suitable for all ages, strength and fitness levels.

Seth's Friday morning classes are THE place to be. It feels like Friday night in there with his life-affirming playlists, and his teaching style makes me feel like a baddie and makes me feel safe enough to push myself just that little bit further. HIGHLY recommend.

Took the Monday 730pm legs and butt LTHYPE with Milan and it kicked my butt. You used 15-50lb weights, resistance bands and straps on a mat and on bench. You can adjust your weight and do it without weights. Lots of repetition and adjustment depending on your level. Great weight and resistance class, only negative is there’s just lockers, spray deodorant, earplugs and bathrooms. There’s not much of an entrance waiting area and the amenities are not really there. Took this class with class pass credits.

What a great pump! I absolutely love the class as I’m new to lifting weights. First time taking LIFTONIC - Milan was the instructor. Clear commanding voice, super motivating energy and the music was all bangers! It was like having a live DJ set while lifting to the beat - they WANT you to stay to the beat so the whole class works out unison in a slow steady pace that burns ! Can’t wait to come back and get this guys playlist!

Best workout in West Village? More like best workout in the world! Liftonic has transformed my body and made me more confident in weight lifting. This a great class if you’re looking to lift weights in a structured group setting. Had two sessions with Rachel and she’s excellent - I’m recovering from a back injury and she modified movements for me where I needed them to accommodate. I’m also super tall (6’7’’) and she took care to adjust equipment so it’d work for my height.

I love the idea of this gym and the classes, and while my form is far from perfect, I cringe when I see some people lifting weights (that are too heavy) and their form! I’ve only been to two classes and neither instructor modified or corrected anyone in the class the entire time…

Unique fitness class focused on weightlifting. The structure of the class mimics a weight routine at the gym but it’s accessible to all fitness levels as classes are led by experienced instructors. The wide range of weights in 2.5-5lb increments allow for small improvements week over week which makes keeping track of progress fun / keeps you coming back.

The instructor pushes you beyond your limits, and almost embarrasses you if you don’t try harder. Be prepared for immense body pain after and not leaving motivated and lifted.

@LIFTONIC: What a reprieve after trying a dozen other studios over the last few months.
Apologies for the lengthy review, but I can’t say enough positive things about this place. If your goal is to focus on weight training, LT is one of the best options. I’ve been an avid OrangeTheory member for quite some time, mostly attending their strength classes. But over the past few months, I hit a plateau and started looking for something with more intensity and structure—and that’s exactly what I found at LT.
I’ve tried several other fitness studios since then, and LT stands out by far. One thing I really appreciate is the structured workout templates. The coaches set the tempo for each block, which is perfect for someone like me who occasionally sneaks in a few fewer reps than prescribed. I love the built-in accountability and focus.
The facilities are clean and well-maintained, and there’s never a shortage of equipment—a surprisingly common issue at other class-based fitness studios. On top of that, the membership pricing is incredibly reasonable for a Manhattan-based studio, making LT a great value.
Even though I commute from LIC, I plan to upgrade to an unlimited membership as soon as I cancel mine at OrangeTheory. LT’s workouts are consistently challenging yet approachable, and the instructors are friendly, energetic, and genuinely knowledgeable.
I truly hope to see LT expand into other neighborhoods. If they ever open a location in LIC or Astoria, I’ll be first in line to join as a founding member.
If you’re thinking about trying a class—stop hesitating and just go. You won’t regret it.

I am a runner who has always been focused on high impact/cardio workouts. Having turned 50 this year, I finally decided it was time to add lifting to the mix and this gym has made this safe and fun! The community is body positive with a wide range of fitness levels and ages represented. The energetic instructors are articulate with cueing and the music is always ON…. I want to start by saying Rachel is an incredible instructor. She was energetic, compassionate and doled out corrections with empathy and levity. She is clearly rooting for everyone in her class and she was one of the better instructors I’ve seen in a long time.
Unfortunately, the red lighting in the studio makes it impossible for me to ever return. The studio is in a basement so there is only the artificial red lighting throughout (even in the bathroom). I felt dizzy and nauseated from the second I walked down to the second I left. There is one “normal” white light by the dumbbell rack and I ended up retreating to that corner during the class. If I hadn’t, I would’ve had to leave early. It was still difficult even in that circle of “normal” light.
I really hope the studio considers offering one class a day or something like it where the lighting is typical white LED lighting. I would joined as a member if that was an option.

I’ve been lifting here for about two months. Milan (manager?) is always accommodating and friendly. The instructors are all great. I typically go to Charlie’s classes or Emily’s, they have great energy. But I have yet to attend a class I haven’t liked. It’s on the pricier side, but convenient for me because there are a lot of times that work for me, small class size, and is the perfect 45 min workout for what I typically look for. I will continue to go here for as long as my budget allows! They always have great offers for new comers that I would recommend taking advantage of if anyone was on the fence.

Absolutely LOVE Liftonic and would highly highly recommend. I haven’t gone to the gym this much in my life. The instructors are all super nice, approachable and they all know their stuff. The workouts are challenging but doable, the class sizes are small so you aren’t packed in like sardines. Whenever I have questions they are super responsive via email and their rates are really reasonable. It had been really difficult to find a gym that worked for me but Liftonic is 100% it. Don’t wait, go try it out!

Liftonic is one of the best workouts in NYC! This is their new location in the east village, and they have one other location in the west village. It’s low impact dumbbell strength training to the beat of really cool music. I’ve been going to their workout for years, I’m so glad they have another location! Each day is a different muscle group lifting focus. I’ve seen INSANE progress since building this into my routine. You can get a class through their website, and they’re also on classpass, gympass, and have a Soho House partnership for any members there!

Perfect second location for Liftonic — the elevator exclusively takes you down into the Liftonic basement with its iconic red lighting and you sign in at the screen before stepping into the studio space. The instructors (especially Milan) bring effusive, motivating energy throughout class — it makes you excited to try lifting heavier weights! Amazing endorphin kick, can’t wait to go back!

I took the arms abs & back class by Milan & LOVED IT so much I came back today for the legs & butt class. I also love the red lights in the room, gives a cool vibe. Highly recommend!!
