Rock climbing gymAbout the Club
The Lindseth Climbing Center is an indoor rock climbing facility located in Bartels Hall, at Cornell University, and includes 8,000 sq. ft. of bouldering, toproping, and lead climbing. LCC also encompasses the Kay2 bouldering wall in the Noyes Community Recreation Center.
For non-Cornell affiliated patrons, a climbing instruction session is a prerequisite to regular use, regardless of climbing experience. See our website for details on how to sign up for classes, and about Cornell Outdoor Education's wider offerings.

Great rock climbing wall with tons of choices and super friendly staff. Variety of difficulty makes for a great inclusive experience. Highly recommend!!!

Extremely methodical and specific belay test made it hard to get certified for the first time (allegedly for much more experienced climbers than myself) and the bouldering was uncomfortable for taller climbers with many low starts. Staff were nice but the setting and belay test were just very subpar. Low energy atmosphere, since bouldering wasn't fun many people weren't climbing or projecting. Wack. Also pretty expensive for non-students. Just go to Syracuse.
Edit - visited 5 years later. Still a lot of sit starts, worn holds, and nobody top-roping...for some reason.

Looked like a decent little climbing gym, but it was not clear to me before I arrived there that if you are not already affiliated with Cornell you must become "affiliated" by taking one of their 2-hour long climbing classes in order to be able to climb there. For someone who's just passing through town looking for a place to climb, not very practical and a solid bummer.

I recommend buying your own shoes if you want to go here often. The staff are amazing. Just so you know, you can die. Death is not fun, and they will not be liable.

This place is great and all if it went for all the plastic pieces on the wall. I thought this was rock climbing I canβt figure out what the plastic buns are for. I see some people holding onto them to move up but it seems quite impossible. Maybe I shouldnβt have eaten the white powderβ¦. No one told me it was chalk

So much fun to climb at Lindseth. Old Lindseth is a challenge but feels more like outdoors. You can even practice (tho not rely on) trad placement. New Lindseth is an awesome modern climbing gym with color coded routes regularly reset and lead space.
