****my review is based on Laughing Lotus pre pandemic and sale of studio to thr LL STUDIO firm***
Laughing Lotus and their staff are warm , talented and generously helpful. Fresh, fun and funky art adore the walls . I have been floating in and out of this unique and loving community for 15 years (I live out of state, otherwise I would go more often). As a teacher myself I delight in their LL signature creative flow , yet smart sequencing. You can expect a mindful yoga chat without ever being preachy, some oms or a chant...this studio and tribe at LL is always insightful and inspiring . The love and attention they offer each and every person in class is astounding .(some classes can have 70 plus people) . And its topped off with an infectious energy that carries You through class and beyond. You know your in for a great time and experience. Check out Ali Cramer who has vast experience and talent, and when Dana is town (she travels between NYC and NOLA) both Rock GODDESSES in my book and possess with a wealth of knowledge and love to share.

The studio has been around for years 15+ years. As a practitioner and teacher, I can say the senior teaching staff here is excellent, passionate, devoted to the practice and bring themselves on/off the mat. If you can, make some time to go visit Aliβs 12pm Saturday class or a restorative at 6:15 with Cathy Dirkx.

Only book this class if you want to add on to your stress. I signed up for the 5:30 class and got there at 5:30 sharp, but they didnβt let me go in as they allow people on their wait list to enter the class 2 minutes before the class starts. Horrible customer experience, over crowded rooms and any thing but relaxing.

This studio is a very special place and like no other Iβve ever been to. Itβs just magic and Dana is exceptional in her approach , her attitude to teaching & her warmth & her humour which just carry you through a journey of self discovery , acceptance and complete surrender. This studio for me as a visitor to NY was like stepping into the most beautiful bliss bubble .

The studio hasnβt been updated for the past 15yrs. Equipment is old and place is no longer well kept. Taken a few classes that are the usual, nothing inspiring. There are many new yoga studios now that provide a relaxing atmosphere and creative classes. The front desk is also rude and unreasonable, definitely does not help Me to distress, which is what I came to yoga for.

I was happily invited back to Laughing Lotus to experience their free Home for the Holidays Flow class. Once again it was a magical experience. A variety of instructors led the group through a flow that I dedicated to the Sandy Hook victims and loved ones. I felt surrounded by love. The large studio "dance hall" with a disco ball was enchanting. You are truly welcomed the second you are greeted with kindness at the reception desk. The flow was for everyone from the beginner to the advanced student. The evening ended with healthy snacks and a free large bottle of water. Thank you to all the wonderful instructors including the little pooch. A special shout out to my fabulous instructor Von Love who introduced me to Laughing Lotus.π

I went here for the first time last night. The studio is decorated beautifully and the people are awesome and friendly. I love everything about the experience I had. I went for Kirtan celebration it was beautiful!! The teacher of the class Felipe chanted beautifully along with the other people that were with him. It was so much fun and relaxing. I will definitely come back here. This place has great energy!!!

Love the 90 minute 6:30pm flow class, sounds long but I always feel very mellow and relaxed afterwards. Also the accordion and singing done at the start and end of class is very unique. Really love it.

I came as a drop in for the Saturday inversion class. It was $22 for 90 minutes. Not bad! The staff was also friendly. The yogi instructor Kenny will demonstrate, walk around and correct you. This class was advanced and it definitely was challenging.
At the end of the session, I felt most of my lower back tension go away. Only downside is the Saturday inversion class gets super packed.

A good workout but the wildly deaf cultural appropriation and caricaturing of Hindu deities? ("let's paint a giant mural of Ganesh in a fedora riding a skateboard!"). No thanks. No wonder I was the only South Asian in the place both times I took a class.

Love the energy and overall community at Laughing Lotus. These classes will make you sweat. In the evenings it gets mat-to-mat crowded but I think that only adds to the vibe.

Solid yoga studio offering up plenty of classes of different levels throughout the day. You will get a good sweaty workout here. Classes don't come cheap here ($22 for a 60 min class), but well worth it, high-quality, high-energy. If you're a beginner, this is not the best place for you as you need to have some foundation in the different yoga poses.

This yoga studio offers interesting classes. While I enjoyed the few classes I took, I don't think they offer enough beginner options. Not everyone is an expert practitioner and knows all the pose names. I often felt lost and clumsy trying to keep up. The instructors are so nice and welcoming it makes me want to continue trying.

Excellent studio. I've practiced at various studios in Vancouver, Barcelona, and South Florida, as well as 3 different places in NYC and this is in the top 3.
Laughter actually does occur in every class I went to.
Studio is non-conventionally decorated, with a lot of bright colors. Music is also more upbeat than most yoga classes. Still they open and close with Om, leave time for a good shavasana, and blend the fundamental vinyasa flows with beautifully creative dance-like transitions.
A very modern and motivating yoga studio, their Level 2/3 classes would definitely be a challenge for newbies and you will sweat / be sore.

I went here as part of yoga month where I got a week of free yoga at this studio. I've taken 3 Sun Celebrations morning yoga classes now so I feel like I am in a good place to review.
This is probably one of the more... spiritual studios I've been to (I usually take yoga classes in gyms like New York Sports Club). The place is brightly painted and smells like incense. It has a very cool, mellow vibe. There's tea and little elephant animal crackers in the lobby. Shoes off at the front and mats can be rented for $2. Blankets are provided (I've never had blankets in a yoga class before).
The classes are a good pace with the ability to modify up or down. The classes start and end with om chanting, which I find very peaceful and spiritual. Energy and chakras are frequently mentioned concepts.
Afterwards, you can shower and change out in their bathroom area, which is surprisingly very clean.
Overall, I would recommend this place if you're comfortable with the more spiritual side of yoga because there are prayers involved sometimes. As someone who was raised Buddhist, I loved this place and felt like it helped me reconnect just a bit with my roots.

Great positive and knowledgeable teachers. The studios are bright and vibrant with color. Classes are enjoyable overall. A little on the high side price-wise, but worth it if you like the "Flow".
