This is a great karate school – the instructors make it so much fun for little ones, and everyone is really friendly. My daughter (Sarveen,4.5 yearold) & son (Samyar, 6.5yearold) just started coming to this place and they just love it. The Sensei is very patient and understanding! We signed our son up for Karate mainly to help him build confidence. We wanted him to participate in something that would boost his self-esteem and to learn more about self-control. He is going to get his yellow belt next weekend after 3months of hard work here at MMAA. They have great programs at MMAA, Highly recommend for the entire family!

I’ve trained at various high level martial arts schools in NYC. I’ve cross trained in Kung Fu (black belt), Brazilian Jiujitsu (blue belt) and Escrima. I can confidently say that Marti Martial Arts in the “real deal” with excellent instruction in Karate, kickboxing and Brazilian Jiujitsu. Classes range from age 5-adult. The teaching environment is very supportive, encouraging and focused. We’re going in our 15th year with Marti Martial Arts. My oldest was 5yo when he started and the rest of the siblings joined karate as soon as they are able. My youngest is 9yo now and looks forward to becoming a black belt like his 3 older siblings and mom and dad. Marti Martial Arts offers a variety of classes including Jui-jitsu, weapons, self defense and sparring. But more important than all the classes is Sensei Marti. If I could give 10 stars, I would! I honestly can't say enough nice things about this business and the community they have created at the dojo. My son who has some sensory/ASD issues has been taking private karate lesson at MMAA for nearly 2 years and it has been incredibly rewarding for him. I started taking the adult kickboxing classes about a year ago and it is the highlight of my week. Sensei Jose and the other instructors are amazing and the community they have created at the dojo is friendly and welcoming. Not just a martial arts academy!!!
My two kids 6 and 5 years old joined almost two years ago this great academy. We absolutely loved and felt the great vibes from day one. Sensei Jose and his team are great martial arts teachers but not only that, they really help the kids and adults to learn the techniques, teaches them discipline and builds their confidence, making the kids understand what life is about and how strong and positive they need to be. We love Sensei Jose and the whole team because they are very special and amazing, the kids have time to be focused and learn but it is always time to play a game and have fun with all the extra activities that Sensei offers for the kids and adults over the year.
I started on the adults kickboxing program almost a year ago as well and let me tell you, I CAN'T MISS ONE DAY!!

I love this dojo :) i am currently a student testing for my first black belt in april, i've been going here for about 6 years. When i see things on the internet like "we build discipline" i don't believe it, but almost every class, we are told about discipline and respect and taught it. Sensei Jose is so kind. My almost 12 year old son started karate and kickboxing here a year ago and absolutely loves it. Sensei Jose is a fantastic instructor! There is not enough that I can say about this establishment. I have a special needs son, who feels like this is the greatest place he's ever been. We had a terrible experience at a different school two years ago, and he was terrified to try again. Since meeting Sensei, my son has felt empowered, strong, and accepted into this establishment like he's been training for years. The other children are welcoming, and Sensei is skilled in art as well as delivery with everyone he interacts with. The students are incredibly receptive, and my son has focused like I've never seen him do before. Sensei is also one of the best people I've ever met, rich in values and knowledge. We LOVE Marti Martial Arts Academy! My older son is seven and we switched from another dojo about 2 years ago and could not be happier! Sensei Jose and his sempais are absolutely amazing with the kids. Sensei incorporates character development and discipline into each session so while the kids are learning karate, they are also gaining invaluable lessons they can apply outside of the dojo. We have seen improvement in our son’s fitness level, self-confidence and discipline.
Sensei Jose loves what he does and it shows! The kids are always excited for class, and he makes sure each child gets the attention and instruction they need.

My younger son is 4 1/2 years old and has been receiving physical therapy twice a week for over 2 years. When his PT recommended karate classes, I wasn’t sure if he would be able to keep up with the class due to his hypotonia and his shy personality. I have seen tremendous improvement in not only his strength and coordination but also his self confidence and social skills. His PT is so impressed with his progress as well!
Sensei Jose and his sempais are absolutely outstanding with the children. The dojo manager, Lucy, is so sweet and friendly, the kids love her and she keeps the dojo running smoothly.
The dojo is a nice, clean, large space and the classes have a good number of children which encourages teamwork and socialization. The sensei and sempais are always able to give each child the attention and direction they need, even if some children may require a little extra attention at times. Sensei Jose makes each child feel special and important and they absolutely adore him for that! My son cannot wait to get on the mat so he can show Sensei how strong he is getting. Both my son and I started training at Marti Martial Arts Academy early this year. My son was involved in other sporting activities prior to joining this program but nothing has held his excitement as much as being a part of this amazing dojo. I can also say the exact same thing for myself, as I have spent many years at the gym, but have never achieved the milestones (both mentally and physically) that I have achieved now since joining this program.

Sensei Jose Marti is not only a highly skilled and exceptional martial artist, but he also has a way of connecting with each and every child (and parent) that walks through the doors. He’s kind and understanding, and gives his all to each student. He sets a high standard for what he expects from his students; respect, dignity, integrity, but achieves that by connecting to his students, and taking the time to be a guide imparting life lessons. Teaching integrity and respect is a huge part of his program.

The classes are taught in a way that’s fun for children of all ages and yet challenging enough that they reap the benefits of the physical aspect of the program by becoming stronger, and developing self confidence once conquering those challenges. I’ve seen such a tremendous change in my son’s behavior, in his physical activity level, and in his self confidence. He now aspires to achieve his black belt as he’s been inspired by Sensei and all of his fellow students to reach that goal. The atmosphere is one of belonging, where he has bonded with other children who have the same aspirations and has formed friendships.

Even though we live in Yorktown, we make the drive to Bedford Hills because we were impressed with the Sensei, his facility, and his principles. From the second we met him, we were impressed with his dedication to not only the martial arts, but the student as well. He took the time to get our son acclimated and comfortable with the dojo. The five principles of the Dojo are easy for young students to understand, yet very powerful and applicable to any person of any age. The program is well-rounded and the results are fantastic. More experienced students are given opportunities to help with the beginner classes and it is truly amazing to see these lessons come full circle. Sensei Marti is an amazing role model for his students (and their parents). He has an incredible amount of patience and is able to connect with every child that walks through the door, knowing that every child walks in for a different reason. He is able to show them, through his own actions, that having a positive attitude is a critical aspect in shaping experiences and dealing with challenges. The manager is extremely accommodating and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure unbeatable client service. Five stars and two thumbs up!!!

I am really happy that I enrolled my daughter at Marti Martial Arts. She was very hesitant in the beginning and now she loves going to Karate. She goes into class now with spirit and smiles. Her Sensei is phenomenal with these kids. It is apparent that his own life experiences drive him to really want to help his students thrive. The support staff are also kind and encouraging. I am starting to see positive changes in Gillian's focus and confidence and she is really having fun. I look forward to seeing her test for yellow belt at the end of the month and watching her process continue.

My Son is in Kindergarten and started this year in the Dragon group. It is a wonderful program for the kids to learn about Martial arts but the goal of the program is far more reaching, Sensei's highest priority is to teach self control, give respect to yourself and others, be positive and have good character.

Sensi is an amazing teacher and role model. Both my boys love training at Marti Martial Arts Academy. We love the positive environment where the are taught to seek good character, show strong spirit, practice courtesy and control their temper. They are learning that discipline now is freedom later. I've been a student at the academy for three years now and it's one of the best experiences I've ever had. The classes are fun yet push you to achieve your best, and the things I've learned (self defense, karate skills) will definitely transfer to real life. Sensei Marti has found the perfect formula for training in karate. My son has been attending the dojo for 5 years and in those 5 years has learned and had reinforced the importance of hard work, respect and goals. He used to be afraid to try new physical challenges and the physical conditioning from karate has strengthened his body and he is now surfing and snowboarding - two things he was always afraid to try. He knows that with commitment and practice he can accomplish anything.

I kickbox at the dojo for cardio exercise. I have found kickboxing to be the best overall cardio and core conditioning. I would recommend Marti Martial Arts to all!

My young teen daughter has been doing karate here for over a year, and it has been a fantastic experience. The program offers great physical training and conditioning, and self-defense, and my daughter is much more confident. Even more important, though, Sensei Marti is an amazing leader. He stresses character development as much as physical training. He is a fabulous role model himself. He really cares about each student, and goes out of his way to help them grow. All of the staff are likewise excellent. I cannot recommend MMAA highly enough.

We cannot say enough great things about Marti Martial Arts Academy. We brought our son there to see if they could help us with some behavior challenges we were having with him. Marti Martial Arts Academy is the best around. Ranging from the facility to the instruction of classic karate, no one is better. Sensei Marti is one of the, if not the most moral and strong man I know and I couldn t even begin to think of a better person that I would want to teach me or a friend. At the highest of levels, the best of the dojo are at the top of the pack with technical skill, technique, and respect. The level of dedication by sensei marti, sempi kim, sempi ryan, and all others in the dojo is uncomparable to any school you will find. I recommend his school over any other for karate.
