The gym itself is not bad
I started going to it in March, moved to another state in August give them driver license of another state which had another address where I moved they didn’t cancel my membership, and still was charging me, I called them today which is 1st November to send them lease and cancel my membership, they already can cancel my membership but want to charge for November and cancel fee .
So I’m not going to the gym from August , but paying for it to December , because they couldn’t cancel it .
Like I said the gym itself not bad, but the contract that you signing , and how they talking to you over the phone it’s something else to consider!

I regularly attend the morning CrossFit class and Sergie is phenomenal, energetic and challenging. He takes his time explaining proper form and technique. His positive attitude and expert guidance have been key to my progress. Our morning class is like a little family. I love it ! I would highly recommend MatchPoint to anyone who is looking for a fantastic, positive, clean and friendly environment.

Truly an Exceptional Gym Experience
MatchPoint NYC has become such an important part of my life — it’s truly my home away from home. The CrossFit program here is phenomenal, and my coach, Sergie, deserves special recognition. His expertise, motivation, and attention to form have helped me achieve progress I’ve never experienced at any other gym. Every class feels purposeful, challenging, and rewarding.
What makes it even better is that my whole family is part of it. My kids absolutely love their swimming and kids’ fitness classes, and it’s amazing to see them so happy and active. It’s rare to find a gym that supports every age and fitness level while maintaining such a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
MatchPoint NYC isn’t just a gym — it’s a community, a source of inspiration, and my happy place. I’m so grateful to be part of it!

An amazing sports complex and a Brooklyn staple. They have various classes for both kids and adults alike, super clean facilities, swimming pool and tennis courts, multiple gym rooms, a dedicated CrossFit room. Front desk, staff and trainers are professional and courteous. Better than Equinox with far more affordable pricing.

Amazing place with new equipment but extremely expensive so dont even bother looking at the memberships here if your not making at leaat 75k a year. They have a spa but its too expensive for me to tell you about it as is there pool and gymnastics programs. They have a lovely café upstairs where food is actually affordable.

When I signed the contract I was told that this contract last only 1 year but it is not and was being charged for the next moths. Don’t trust the people and look through every detail on your contract!
About the experience of the gym itself: gym this expensive expected to be less crowdy and it is not. I do not like to wait for other people to do the set or get on it in between. Tried to go in the morning, at the day and in the evening - always the same. Also about shower and sauna: people often come to sauna with their clothes on without any towels, the shower cabins need to be cleaned more often - you may feel some buildup on the walls and floor.
If you are not bothered by all of above then you can enjoy the wide variety of equipment, different halls and sections.

Terrible service from the staff that provides trial classes for children. A guy made my son cry by treating him badly, taking away his racket for no reason and saying that the trial class, which only lasted 15 minutes, was over. If this is how the trial class is, I can't imagine they have nothing to lose after paying. I recommend analyzing carefully before choosing this place for your child to learn a sport!

They will refuse to cancel your membership and then charge you whatever amount they please. They are using shady business tactics to lock you in and charge you as much as possible even though you might need to move and won’t attend the gym in 5 months. This is what happens to me. If you don’t want to support these people and think that this is unacceptable, stay away from this place!
They will are willing get every last penny from you no matter what, and if I knew earlier about this shady place I wouldn’t have ever signed up. Truly regret my decision.

Staff members are not reliable. I left my thing in my locker for a day and staff members took it and it was thrown away to the box like a garbage. We found half of the things and other half only god knows where are they now. And there was no signs or anything that forbids me to leave my things in the locker. When i asked the main table to explain the reason they took my things they didnt answer me and just ignored me.

I pre-paid for a year in full for a Gold membership in November 2023. It's a very expensive gym compared to neighboring gyms, and when you consider what you get extra for that money, it's basically a sauna, a pool (great size and maintained well, but there's only 2 lanes) and shockingly enough, no water fountains. I've never been to a gym that doesn't have a water fountains. Admittedly, there's a cold water dispenser at the Cafe on the 2nd floor, but it's so far out of the way and that place always closes at random times, if not consistently an hour before the gym does.
Don't get me wrong; I do like the gym. The equipment is excellent, the sauna is very nice (when it's working) and the class instructors are all energetic, professional and motivated. There's just a littany of minor annoyances that I think make the price of this gym a hard sell. Lack of water, rude staff, weak shower plumbing, horrible parking availability and inconsistent sauna operation take away a big 2 stars. The equipment variety and availability, quality of instructors, diversity of classes and friends I've made here get the other 3.
I do wish Matchpoint success. I think they've fostered a strong sense of community in South Brooklyn and I know many of the people here, front desk staff not-withstanding, work very hard. I've switched over to Harbor Fitness to save 25+ a month but still get consistent sauna access, but hope to switch back to Matchpoint if they make any significant additions/improvements or changes to their pricing structure.

Very disappointing and frustrating experience. At Matchpoint, they rush you to pay and sign the contract WITHOUT EXPLAINING IMPORTANT RULES OR THAT THEY’LL KEEP CHARGING YOU MONEY. Only later you find out there’s a $50 fee if you want to cancel early, and if you freeze your membership, THEY STILL CHARGE YOU $20 PER MONTH — FOR WHAT?! Just for not going? None of this is properly discussed — they just hand you the papers and send you to pay.
They also charge around $85 once a year for “maintenance.” Yes, they send an email, but it’s never clearly explained what exactly this covers — and that’s on top of paying nearly $100 per month. Feels like they’re just trying to squeeze every dollar out of you.
While we were waiting in line to speak to someone and ask for a tour, the girl at the front desk was just sitting on her phone, IGNORING US COMPLETELY. No greeting, no help. Zero customer service. We never even got a tour of the facility. No one showed us where classes are held. The boxing room is especially bad — hot, stuffy, no air circulation. The whole vibe is heavy and unfriendly. STAFF LOOKS DOWN ON YOU, LIKE YOU’RE A NOBODY OR AN INCONVENIENCE.
If you’re looking for a place where you’ll be ignored and overcharged — this is it. I’m NEVER COMING BACK.
ESPECIALLY IN THE SUMMER, THE LOCKER ROOMS ARE ALWAYS PACKED AND THERE ARE ALMOST NEVER ANY FREE LOCKERS. If you work and come in the evening, good luck finding space.
The only good part was coach Alexandra — a true professional and a genuinely kind person. Also, the cleaning staff is friendly and does a great job. The one star is only for them.

The gym itself looks nice, which you’d expect for $100 a month but my experience wasn’t what I hoped for. Some staff are friendly, but overall the vibe felt rude and unwelcoming. Nobody gave me a proper tour when I signed up, and the way they communicated felt careless for the price I’m paying. The atmosphere comes off a bit judging, like the staff think they’re above you honestly, it just feels off.
Also, the kitchen is almost never open, and the upstairs hall is constantly blocked by classes. How is it my fault I can’t use the space I pay for just because there’s always a class? For the cost, I expected way better treatment, clearer communication, and access to what I signed up for

Amazing Gym Experience at MatchPoint!
I’ve been training at MatchPoint for several months now, and I couldn’t be happier. The facility is clean, spacious, and equipped with top-of-the-line machines and gear. The staff is always friendly, professional, and ready to help with anything you need.
What I really love is the variety of classes and the energy of the instructors — they keep me motivated every time. One special highlight for me is the Pilates classes with Natalie. She is an incredible instructor — knowledgeable, attentive, and always brings such positive energy to every session. Her classes are both challenging and uplifting, and I’ve seen real progress thanks to her guidance.
Highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a place that’s both motivating and welcoming. Truly one of the best fitness centers around!

I came to the café today expecting it to be open, but was surprised to find it closed at 8 PM. Apparently, the hours have been changed — but there was no email, no online update, no prior notice. Just a paper sign suddenly posted on the door.
Changing hours for the summer and closing earlier makes little sense, especially when people tend to stay out later this time of year. At the very least, customers should be informed in advance.
It was disappointing and felt inconsiderate to regular visitors who rely on accurate hours.

Some facilities are top notch (the machines for example). Others are so-so (men's shower definitely 3/5 if not less - dirty, plumbing is not great, only some generic body wash). Pool is good size-wise but realistically there is only two lanes at most open for general public at any time. If you have swimming experience, it will be an exercise in frustration with all the slow moving neighbors.
It is not cheap at all but I guess if you take your sports seriously, especially if you want a real pool, you can probably justify the cost...

Horrible, just horrible. My wife and just moved to the neighborhood and was looking for a gym. We stumbled upon this joke. As we entered we were amazed to see such a place with so many amenities, gym, pool, tennis, soccer. This is amazing.
However, as we waited on line to speak to someone for a tour of the place, the young lady at the counter was on her phone, completely ignoring us. So as a gentleman, I approached her and said “Good afternoon”. Again, she ignored me. I then felt very disrespected and said “Hello, I’d like a …….. “ that’s when an older man came, interrupted my and her from speaking. So I told him hey what’s going on? I was trying to talk to the young lady. He replies, she’ll be right with you. I simply walked out.
Mind you, this was 20 minutes later.
So, if anyone’s interested in going to some place where you’re going to be ignored, and probably want to take you for all your money. This is the place. I would never step in ever again.

I am very concerned about an incident that happened during a children’s swim lesson at MatchPoint NYC in Brooklyn. May 19th at 4:40pm
Right at the start of the lesson, one of the swim instructors behaved extremely unprofessionally. He harshly told a 6-year-old girl to “get out of the pool” without explanation. The child was terrified, started crying, and ran out of the pool in hysteria. Then, an 8-year-old girl approached to ask if she was doing the exercise correctly, but the instructor yelled at her, scared her, made her cry, and also kicked her out of the pool.
What is even more shocking is the reaction of the other instructors who were present. Instead of addressing the situation or apologizing, they defended his behavior, saying that “this is normal.”
Humiliating and frightening children is NOT normal.
This kind of treatment is absolutely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the culture within the staff. I sincerely hope the management takes immediate action to protect the children and prevent this from happening again.
The coach's name is Cesar, but I'll check

Update 3:
This gym still somehow manages to disappoint. The cable machine under the staircase leading to the studios, the same machine that is designed to have TWO functioning cables at all times, has an “out of order” sign on one of the sides for more than a month. Are you guys serious? This should tell you just how much they care about their client’s experience at the gym. There is absolutely no excuse as to why it takes so long to fix such a popular machine in the gym. I also haven’t mentioned the oos pec deck machine next to the other staircase, but it’s not as popular so I can see why they might not care as much.
Now onto contracts and memberships.. oh wow. My friend got into a car accident that got him bed locked for 2 months. He’s got all the proper paperwork so he thought “I should cancel my membership, I have a valid excuse to get out of the contract and I won’t be able to workout for a year anyways”.
-“haha” was probably the membership director’s reaction. He offered to split his one month payment into 4 after which he will be paying full price as usual.
Another friend of mine moved states and wanted to get out of the contract with all the proof - the manager took her money for the month and refused to cancel the membership. No elaboration.
Also for some reason they stopped giving you yellow paper copies of the contract you sign. Shady.
Get your memberships paid with a credit card so you can cancel through them with no issues.
Original review:
Been going to this gym since July of 2022. This place certainly beats other gyms in some terms, but absolutely lacks in others.
The two gyms have every single machine you may need for your workout, don’t ever have to wait for more than one person to finish their workouts. Prime times are busy, but they are prime times for a reason.
All equipment is high quality with some machines a little worn down, but the management updates and places more machines from time to time which is great
Now onto the cons. How come are there no water fountains in this “premium” gym? They have a whole protein drink machine right in the hallway but no water fountains in sight… if you need water you can ABSOLUTELY go to the vending machines or their lounge and spend money on water…
Front-desk staff is nothing bad or good, they are just there.. Most of them are in their late teens or early 20s and are just there for the paycheck, I can understand that. Don’t expect any crazy service you would expect in a “premium” gym you pay so much for.
Trainers.. there are certainly a couple of good ones out there but there are some that treat the gym like they own it. How are you going to close a whole cross-fit gym for a single class? If I’m paying a full price, I should have full access to all the gyms at all times. Other trainer was upset with me using the machine as intended, oh well, I’m sorry, I forgot that if I somehow break it, it would take you guys half a year to fix it.
Sauna… haha!! Such a big amenity that so many are looking for. Guess what? It’s never working. I’m pretty sure it has only worked for about a month since July of last year. But everyone got excited for this new shower and sauna renovation that left people paying their memberships for nothing(literally nothing, you couldn’t use the pool for a month because there were no showers). The time comes, the sauna works for about a week, cold as usual but you know, it’s there! Next thing you see is an “Out of Order” sign and a wooden beam going across the door. Not surprised. New showers were slippery, that got fixed after the complaints. New showers didn’t even have shelves for your shampoos and body washes(maybe they put them up by now, not sure)
The pool only has 2-3 lanes available out of 8 because they are all booked for private lessons. Can’t speak much about it but other reviews have mentioned more.
If you have the money and just want to workout and go home - this is a pretty good gym. If you come with minimal expectations for such a high price - you will be disappointed. Maybe this gym will see better times.

Lots of machine, constantly cleaned. Main issue is lack of a water fountain in the zal itself. When I started looking and asked front desk ladies in simple Russian, they put on an act and looked at me like I am crazy. Now I see you have to trek upstairs to the lounge just to refill your waterbottle which creates inconvenience. First time in my entire life I have seen a gym with no water fountain. Surely not a cost thing for $150??

Pro tip: best time to lock in cheapest annual membership ($108/mo with pool access) is Dec holidays. Expensive if only needing the pool bc it's priced as add-on to base gym access. Poor customer care/feedback response:
Pool water usually too cold, inconvenient especially on cold weather days. Worst is walking from pool to locker room where FREEZING cold air is blown at you from ventilation. Great for catching a nice cold after a cold water swim in the winter. Smart design thinking guys.
Yoga room had uncomfortable temperature with thermostat access locked. Took too many frustrating staff requests across several visits for them to finally change it. Did my own yoga, then a class came in for a yoga class, which didn't have enough people to take up the whole room space, while I'm minding my own business quietly doing yoga in the corner, instructor tried to kick me out bc of their insensible "policy".
Main gym room with treadmills often blasts cheesy Russian style dance music played out for decades. When communicated to staff requesting to try diversifying or testing a playlist I can provide to see how people like it, the response: "it's good music". Try observing your customers: half of them are wearing headphones bc they prefer their music over yours.
Survey customers. Put them first. Don't decide for others what's best for them.

I cancelled my membership and switched over to Chelsea Piers Fitness. It’s an extra drive that I don’t mind making, because to matchpoint I surely won’t return! Pool lanes are consistently closed leaving members to share only two lanes cramped up with each other. Locker room is gross. Saw COCKROACHES wondering around SEVERAL times. Ewww. Gym lacks equipment and has zero natural light. And did I mention the horrible service? I asked one time one of the membership employees where the manager was (while I was trying to cancel my membership and she was no help) and she replied “I don’t know he’s not my boyfriend”… oh okay lmao. Cafe service was also rude. Never returning here again that’s for sure! Chelsea Piers Fitness is 10 times worth it! It’s true LUXURY.

I absolutely love this gym! It’s the only place where I feel comfortable and on the right level. The equipment is top-notch, there’s plenty of space, a variety of workout options and classes, amazing trainers, a fantastic pool, and a great locker room with a sauna. It has everything I need! Highly recommend!

If you’re looking to throw your money away, test your nerves, and lose faith in humanity—welcome to this “wonderful” establishment!
Signing a contract with them is a breeze! They’ll smile, make it easy, and take your money with open arms. But breaking that contract? Oh, that’s a different story. Honestly, I’m convinced that even your own death wouldn’t be a valid reason to terminate it.
My husband had a stroke. I brought an official letter from the doctor stating that he was paralyzed, hospitalized, and wouldn’t be able to return to any kind of physical activity anytime soon—if ever. The staff’s response? “That is not a valid reason to terminate the contract.” Excuse me, what?! At that moment, I realized I wasn’t speaking to a human being but to a money-obsessed robot with zero empathy.
Now, let’s talk about the staff. Mostly young kids between 18 and 25, with the emotional depth of a brick wall. They mechanically do their job and couldn’t care less about the clients. Group classes? An absolute joke! Instructors can just not show up, and apparently, that’s totally normal. One morning, I showed up for a yoga class, sat on my mat, and waited… and waited… 40 minutes passed, and still, no instructor. Nobody even bothered to inform us! When I finally went down to the reception to ask, they casually said, “Oh, the instructor is sick.” Okay… so where’s the replacement? Where’s at least a simple apology? Nowhere. Just silence.
Now, the pool—ice-cold water and such a strong chlorine smell that you wonder if they’re trying to poison us. After swimming, your skin feels like parchment paper, dry and lifeless. The sauna? A joke. The temperature is barely higher than room temperature. You’d get warmer standing outside in the sun.
The showers? Out of five, only one is even remotely acceptable, and it’s the one for disabled guests. But in that shower, there hangs the most disgusting shower curtain I have ever seen. I have seriously considered just buying a new one and donating it to them! It looks like it’s been there since the place opened and hasn’t been washed since.
And let’s not forget my favorite part—the $75 annual “maintenance fee”! Yes, on top of your monthly payments, you must also gift them an extra $75 for… what exactly? Clearly not for fixing that curtain.
And the locker rooms! They have TWO hairdryers for everyone, and calling them hairdryers is an insult. They’re so weak, you might as well just blow on your hair yourself. In the end, I had to start bringing my own hairdryer, because apparently, in the 21st century and in America, providing a proper one is just too much to ask.
So, if you enjoy wasting money, ruining your mood, and feeling like a complete fool—this is the perfect place for you! But if you have even a shred of self-respect and value your time, stay as far away as possible!

MatchPoint NYC is a top-tier sports facility with excellent tennis courts, an Olympic-sized pool, and a well-equipped gym. The coaching staff is professional, and there’s a strong selection of fitness classes. While membership is pricey and parking can be tricky, it’s a great choice for those looking for high-quality training and amenities.

I’ve been a paying member for the MatchPount, but after repeatedly experiencing an unprofessional and hostile environment, I can no longer recommend this place to anyone looking for a serious fitness facility.
The Issue:
One of the gym's personal trainers "Sergey" an employee has taken it upon himself to blast music from his personal device through a separate large speaker in the studio room, completely disregarding the fact that the gym already has a background music system. This isn’t an occasional issue it’s a persistent one, disrupting the workout environment for many members.
Disregard for Members' Complaints:
Several members, including myself, have politely asked him to lower the volume. Instead of acting professionally, this staff member became hostile, argumentative, and outright combative. The fact that an employee of the gym feels entitled to act this way toward paying customers speaks volumes about the culture this gym tolerates.
Management’s Failure to Act:
This is not an isolated incident. Despite multiple complaints from different members, management has refused to intervene, allowing this disruptive and unprofessional behavior to continue unchecked. When a business prioritizes the whims of an employee over the comfort of its paying customers, it’s clear where their priorities lie.
A gym that refuses to enforce basic professionalism among its employees is not worth your time or money.

Great place for swimming lessons! My son started a couple of months ago and was excited to come back right away. Went to a different place in the past which caused him to not want to return for swimming lessons at all. The fact that the coaches made him excited to return to swimming right away was what sold me to remain. Nothing but great experience with coaches and staff from day one!

Refrained from writing reviews about rude staff multiple times until today when 2 members using a machine before me left 200 pounds on it and when approaching the manager, was told that it’s my responsibility to take them all off. Most of the staff speaks Russian there and use it as an excuse to dismiss you.
Would recommend Harbor instead if you have one near you, cheaper, nicer equipment and much kinder staff.

Do not buy a membership here because if you need to cancel, they will not cancel unless you pay and they threaten to ruin your credit history! I tell them I no longer live in Brooklyn and + I am pregnant but they insist that I signed a contract. Yes I did but I did not warn anyone there about the cancellation conditions!! If the management does not change there will be a lot of negative reviews and will lower your rating to 0!

Was going to MATCHPOINT for 3 months for swimming to loose weight, everything was great I was extremely happy I had lost 30 pounds. But on the third month I wanted to swim for another month, I was told that I’m being blacklisted, I’m a very friendly person and I get along with everyone. I received No explanation on why this has happened. I am very upset about this whole thing. I would like some answers. I would really to come back and swim. Hopefully I will get some answers soon. NOBODY EVEN RESPONDED .
THIS PLACE ONLY WANTS THEIR OWN PEOPLE. THIS GYM DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE. THE STAFF IS RUDE AND NOT POLITE STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM. STILL NEVER GOT ANY EXPLANATION.

I signed up for a membership at MatchPoint NYC despite residing outside of Brooklyn. I was initially assured by their staff that cancellation would be possible due to my location. However, after notifying them of my intent to cancel my membership and subsequently not utilizing the gym for five months, they are now demanding a cancellation fee of $466.45 and threatening to negatively impact my credit score and credit history if I do not pay.
The gym's staff seems unwilling to honor the initial agreement and are making the cancellation process unnecessarily difficult. I strongly advise anyone living outside of Brooklyn to avoid this gym. Their customer service is appalling, and they appear to prioritize their own interests over customer satisfaction.

I do not recommend this place at all. So unprofessional and dysfunctional place. Pool lanes are always closed due to the class therefore you get only 2 crowded lanes. Not even that, it’s very small gym and staff are rude. When I relocated they didn’t let me cancel my membership even I told them I can’t come due to commute. They did not even care and made me do buy out, very unprofessional and such a scam place. I have been to so many gyms and this has been the worst one for me so far.

I had an incredibly unpleasant experience at this gym involving one of the trainers, Alex. After parking in a designated spot, Alex blocked my car in and refused to move, demanding that I “find him.” I didn’t even know who he was at first! When I finally tracked him down in the gym, instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, he acted completely entitled, telling me I needed to “use my brain” and if I want to move my car, I will need to beg him and ask him to move his car.
This level of unprofessionalism and lack of basic courtesy is unacceptable, especially from a staff member. It completely ruined my visit and left a bad impression of the gym. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values respect and professionalism.

The service has become very bad. You have to wait 20 minutes for a towel. In the locker room, 50% of the locks in the cabinets do not work. None of the staff can solve the problems. The machine for wringing out swimming trunks did not work for a long time, then it disappeared. The water in the shower is either very cold or very hot. For that kind of money per month, this is unacceptable.

I’ve been a member here for years and, while I left lower star reviews in the past, the gym has genuinely improved. They’ve increased sauna uptime, fixed or replaced equipment, maintained clean locker rooms, provided more towels, renovated the locker area, and repair broken lockers quicker.
The parking situation was a dealbreaker for me recently, as they kept removing spaces. However, they’ve started addressing it with signs and towing warnings to deter nearby residents from using the lot.
That said, parking can still be a challenge after 5 PM. Until they enforce stricter parking rules, I’d caution potential members about evening visits.
A couple of suggestions: add a water fountain or bottle refill station in the gym and consider adding a closer restroom. These small changes would make a big difference!
