Ponce to Leon was wasting his time down in the Florida swamps. The fountain of youth is in Elmsford, New York at the Westchester gym in the person of Matt Marcella, personal trainer. Matt has been my trainer for one year and in this time I’ve been transformed. As a fairly active and regular gym goer for over 40 years (I am 74), I came to realize whatever program I had been following - Bike riding, golf, skiing, and my regular cardio and weight training at the Westchester gym -I was finding it increasingly difficult to perform everyday acts such as getting up from a chair, the couch, or the car required an effort, as was getting out of bed or turning my head while driving. I had also found my endurance lessening and even 1 mile walks a strain. I had noticed Matt at the gym with his clients of all ages and gender And I was impressed with his manner and approach as well as the results I observed, so I signed on. Matt prepared a plan, based on his assessments of my physical state and told me quite confidently where I would be in 12 months. To my mind it seemed over-ambitious, if not impossible, but I’m here to tell you it happened. I’ve lost weight, gained strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance. My skiing is better and takes less out of me. My golf has improved - better turn, flexibility and greater endurance - but the overall sense of being in charge of your body, and all of its interactive parts, and systems, of which Matt has a deep and broad knowledge, this feeling is perhaps the greatest benefit, because with incipient infirmity, comes a decrease in confidence and desire, and that state of mind is the breeding ground of complacency and despair. So while Matt’s fountain of youth will restore your body for sure, it will also just as importantly invigorate your outlook on life.

Working out with Matt has been absolutely worthwhile! From the very beginning you notice how invested he is in helping you reach your goals and tailoring a specific workout plan specifically for you.

Matt's challenging workouts have definitely made me stronger, more disciplined and mentally sharper. There's a great feeling that you get when you can track and notice weekly improvements.

With Matt's guidance there is no such thing as giving up and his encouragement and positive vibes make any goal attainable. I'm glad I started my fitness journey with Matt.

I first trained with Matt for a month in March of 2022. I recently participated in his New Year Fitness Challenge. Both extremely positive experiences! During this challenge, I noticed increased muscular and cardiovascular strength. In just two months i noticed clear physique change begin to occur. What I like most about Matt is his knowledge of the human anatomy. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort in a certain area he will knowledgeably give you his prognosis. Then, he immediately follows it with what stretch/exercise you will need to remedy your situation. Matt also makes sure that you are performing each exercise correctly while pushing you to complete it safely.

I work in the hospital for many years now and I started having back & shoulder pain so I went to see a Physical therapist. After a few sessions with the PT, I felt like the few exercises that I was doing was not enough. I decided to go with Matt & he developed an individualized program for me. Visible results after just one month of training!

Matt takes a systematic approach from the very start. He begins with a thorough evaluation looking for any muscle imbalances, takes measurements, and sets a fitness baseline (strength,range of motion, etc.). He then creates a workout and nutrition plan based on the eval results to build a strong foundation to kickstart your fitness journey.

Training sessions with him are as educational as they are challenging (they are meant to be), and he keeps you motivated and accountable to hitting the workout/nutrition goals set for that given phase.

Matt is a pleasure to work with, and you walk away stronger and more knowledgeable. Highly recommend him as a personal trainer!

Matt is truly a gem! He’s not your typical ego trainer. He’s very knowledgeable about the science of exercising and fundamentals. He develops a personalized program, and he explains the rationale for why you’re doing an exercise in a way that’s easy to understand. I've been training by Matt for a couple of months and after oir initial evaluation, the program he put together for me was thoughtful and tuned to what I needed as an older, out of shape athlete with various joint issues. He's not your typical "meathead" trainer that has a single program that's used for everyone. He considers your goals, body type, and limits and builds out your program based on these factors.
I would highly recommend Matt for anyone looking to stay in shape or wanting to stop being a shape.
