I've had a great experience so far at MAX of Bay Ridge. The classes are the right amount of challenging and there's a good amount of variety that makes going to class fun. This place has been such an amazing space to spend my summer! It is such a welcoming community of people who are there to work together on their own goals. All the trainers have been so kind and always create a great space during the workouts! Many adjectives come to mind to describe this amazing place. Entering as someone who thought they became a gym failure, I return daily to a sustainable atmosphere where trainers understand your needs, staff that helps on all accounts, and participants whom you get to know and travel through the program side by side. Together, we are all growing. Whether you were a gym-fanatic years past, or someone always afraid to enter a gym, the advice I can give- just ring the bell and walk in! My first time at Max Challenge. The best decision I ever made . I tried to lose weight for a year without any luck until I joined The MAX Challenge of Bay Ridge. Joining this gym has been by far the BEST decision in 2023. I joined the 10 week Challenge in September and I’m at the last week and I have lost 14 lbs 🙌
I am super archi recontra happy with the results. They guided me to change my diet and my workout routine. Now I eat healthy and look again slim. I feel more confident and happier when I look at myself at the mirror. I workout early in the mornings and feel with more energy the rest of the day. My whole life has changed since September and I’m loving it. Thank you to The MAX Challenge of Bay Ridge for my amazing transformation. I love Deb as a teacher. Everything she does is amazing. How she describes the drills so clearly every single time. She makes us feel like we are her first class of the day no matter what, she shows modifications for every exercise, her timing to get ready, to recuperate from a drill and reminding us to breathe and drink water plus the short , inspirational 2 minutes at the end with the huddle helps us feel so connected and to remember whats important. her volume level of the microphone and music is also perfect. Vanessa is also a positive, attentive and connected person there for me. Her greetings are always so positive and her text messages to check in are so kind and positive. The muscles i made in 10 weeks changed my life. I walked more, wanted to bicycle ride and so much more.

I've been attending The MAX Challenge in Bay Ridge for six weeks now, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. The staff here is incredibly supportive; they know your name and even remember your birthday, creating a warm and personal atmosphere.
One of the standout features for me is the flexibility of their class schedules. As a nurse working night shifts, I was worried about finding a gym that could accommodate my irregular hours. The MAX Challenge offers classes at different times of the day, making it possible for me to attend no matter my work schedule.

Honestly, the best fitness program I have ever done. This staff is supportive, friendly, positive and passionate. It's also not a hard push and a hard sell. You do the program at the level that suits you. Modifications are suggested for age and physical limitations. You don't have to buy merch and meals if you don't want to. However, you feel connected and uplifted by this community. I can't say enough positive things about this experience--except to add I've done the program over and over again, because it works.

Joining The Max Challenge in March and becoming a part of the amazing Accountability Group has been one of the best decisions I've made. I was looking for a gym that wasn't too far from me and that had hours that could accommodate my schedule and I definitely found that with The Max.
From the moment I walked into the gym, I was welcomed with such kindness, smiles and support from everyone. Deb, Gary, Vanessa and Kathy are such awesome and caring instructors. I love how they cater to all fitness levels by showing you variations of the exercises so everyone can do them. I love their energy and enthusiasm, and I look forward to making it to the 6:05 am class which I never thought I would say. They also help you with how to tackle your nutrition and meal planning. They really try to provide you with all the tools you need to succeed.
I'm so grateful for joining the Accountability Group. It's not just about accountability for the workouts, but also holistic - a place to share about life and how everything has an impact on how we show up in this life. The members of the group are always so encouraging and supportive and make you feel that you are not alone.
I challenge myself both physically and mentally too. I recently participated in the Rugged Maniacs which I always thought that "I wasn't capable of doing because it would be too hard." The Max taught me to switch that mindset and that I would never know if I didn't try and that's exactly what I did. I'm already looking forward to joining the team again next year!
I can say that The Max Challenge has had such a positive impact on me - mind, body, soul and spirit and I am forever grateful. THANK YOU!!!!

Hi I’m a member of this gym I joined a couple months ago, the reason I joined is because I wanted to change my health! I suffer from high blood pressure and borderline diabetes and I wanted to change my lifestyle, and I must say I did I feel so good doing this for myself, I’m getting stronger every day I can feel it in my body and the way I perform during the day. This is a big milestone for me, I do my recording at home and I’m loving it I will advise you to join this gym today it’s worth it and they are amazing people.

If i could I would have given this place a zero star review. This place is a scam! I payed a full year membership for Mill Basin location. They shut down the location and refused me to refund. Instead they asked me either to go to the Bay Ridge location which is far away from me or to take online classes. If I want to take online lessons I wouldn’t have paid $1600+. Be careful before you sign up with this location. They are not helpful when it comes to refund or $$! I am just wasting my classes now!
Updated: You guys know what you did! I never signed up for the Bay Ridge location. You guys signed me up for Mill Basin location under Bay Ridge! I wish I read every single line on the contract before making the payment rather than trusting your words! It was my mistake for sure!

I started my MAX journey in 2018 initially for much needed self care. I never thought that I was unhealthy, but knew adding a gym routine was what I was missing. I was welcomed by owner, Deb and Gary, staff and members with such ease and I comfort. I began following the nutrition and work out routines. I grew stronger, mentally and physically. I became more educated on what was healthier to eat. I transformed by body and mind. Additionally, I made lifelong friends and probably most important, I made a commitment to better myself. The staff is amazing and from the first day to now they are all dedicated to every person who's there, if your missing or if they don't hear from you they always reach out and try to help no matter the issue. My niece gave me free classes as a gift. I went kicking and screaming.

I am forever grateful that I joined The Max Challenge of Bay Ridge 2 years ago. I’ve been to other gyms but could never stick to it. But with the Max, you don’t just have access to the fitness classes, you’re given incredible resources to help guide your nutrition and access to some amazing items like their protein powder (tastes great and clean!), fun events like the Max Day of Giving fundraiser and you’re surrounded by non-judgmental people (which was a breath of fresh air!).
The pandemic really took a toll on my physical and mental health and I know being part of this wonderful community is a huge part of why I am overall better now. Deb and Gary are so selfless, hard working and supportive. They really do make you feel like a part of family in the most wonderful way. THANK YOU for all you do!!! I started The Max Challenge Jan of 2020. I was terribly out of shape & I have asthma. The staff at The Max of Bay Ridge not only encouraged me but they also built up my self esteem. I've lost 3 sizes, down 25 lbs & I'm stronger than I've ever been. It got me out of my comfort zone & into a place where I smile at myself in the mirror now. Started writing a review earlier but life interrupted it! Think my half review might be out here somewhere… I will continue my review saying that I suffer from neuropathy! My feet kill me! Since starting The Max, I can say I feel so much more hopeful! Neuropathy can be debilitating and depressing! The best way to fight both of those things is with exercise and consistent movement! I was never a group exercise person before! Never imagined I would look forward to exercising! Never imagined I would love kickboxing! After working out for a little over a year, I can’t tell you how powerful I feel! My arms and shoulders are the strongest they’ve ever been! My legs are very strong now! My feet, despite chronic pain, thank me every day for keeping them moving! I gifted myself a one year membership for my 60th birthday! I can say without hesitation, this was the best thing I have ever done for myself! By my 61st birthday, I know I will be in the best shape of my life, mentally, physically and emotionally! I am stronger than I ever imagined! Deb and Gary own The Max! They love what they do! The Max is like Cheers as a gym! Everybody knows and supports each other because that’s the environment the owners cultivated! I could go on for an hour, you get the idea! Stop wasting time, come experience it for yourself! My one regret is not joining sooner! Good luck!

Joining the Max was not only the best gym I’ve ever joined bc of the ever changing workouts, but the group of people & staff who always make you feel welcome. Every class is a different workout, so you never get bored! You are constantly encouraged and praised for giving your all without feeling defeated when you need to modify an exercise. The Max of Bay Ridge is an amazing place to start taking care of yourself, especially if you’ve never worked out before. The people are welcoming, workouts are easy to learn and then build upon as you get stronger. There’s never any pressure to attend, but they check in on you without judgement to make sure all is ok if you miss many classes, which makes starting up again after a setup much easier! Would truly recommend to anyone trying to fit in a consistent workout routine, even working moms, as part of their new everyday life.

Amazing center with amazing staff! Deb, Gary, Mike and the rest of the staff are so committed and true to the cause you feel it the minute you walk in. This is not just about weight loss, this is about being and doing the best you can, in body, mind and spirit.

The Maxx has literally changed my life. I don't know what I would do without it, it has become a part of my lifestyle. My days without the gym do not feel complete. I've accomplished things I didn't think we're possible. I've learned it's mind over matter. Your mind will quit on you long before your body will. And from my experience it's true. Mike is my main instructor bc he pushed me to o do things that I don't want to but he knows I can or that eventually I will. I absolutely live the Maxx. The MAX has been life changing for me. When I started the 10 week challenge, I could barely keep up with the class. I was doing almost every exercise modified. I could barely walk up an avenue or set of stairs without being out of breathe. Mike Anderson is an awesome trainer, always pushing me and everyone else to do better. Everyone is very friendly and always willing to help if needed. I am currently on week 7 and I feel stronger and better than ever. I can keep up with the class and I definitely feel and see a difference in my body. I have been very compliant with nutrition and I have not missed one day since I started. I cannot wait to see the full transformation once this challenge concludes. I would recommend the MAX to everyone! You have to believe in yourself and do something for yourself!

I love so many things about the Max Challenge program! A family or friends somehow is formed. A group of random diverse people of all athletic levels somehow become a cohesive unit. We are all reaching for a goal, and to do it alongside people while having fun is all the better! The instructors genuinely care and help. There heart is in it, so yours is also. I love it! Its like being on a team again for me in my adult life! In doing so your are motivated and continue on your own at home to eat healthy. The workouts are only 5 days and 45 minutes a day, and it is fun!

If you need that little kick to get you back on track this is THE place to go! Start with a 10 weeks challenge and then upgrade to be a legacy member you won't regret it trust me! The owners are adorable, passionate and very dedicated, and Mike is THE best instructor to push you off your limits.. A great place to get in shape and drop those unwanted pounds. They offer exercise programs for all levels of ability coupled with nutritional guidance. No gym bunnies to intimate you. Just people who want to succeed. The staff is super. Very caring and supportive. Almost like having a personal trainer. The members are very friendly because we do exercise as a group and we get to know each other. If you are ready to make the commitment, this is the place for you.

I am a big fan of group classes, I love the motivation, support and the ability to workout in a group setting and still have my own modified workout. They also give you a ton of support for nutrition. I have been coming here for over a year and I have never had the same workout! I love the people who come here and the trainers are great. This is now my gym! (This picture is me, I couldn't "plank" before and now I can!!!)
