My grandson enjoys his swim lessons at Michael Phelps Swimming. He has learned so much from Miss Laura and Miss Brandi!

$200 a month for private lessons is definitely worth the one on one time my grandson gets.

The staff here are incredibly kind, sweet, and most importantly, genuine. Brandi, Dom, Shelly and the teaching staff are absolutely outstanding! My child has progressed through several levels and is now a proficient swimmer, able to use multiple strokes properly in shallow or deep water. This school has a simple, effective training methodology that supports and encourages each child according to his/her ability. The instructors are patient, kind, attentive and supportive. They also provide a very welcoming environment for special-needs students—they really go above and beyond to help each child. I am completely satisfied with Michael Phelps Swimming and love seeing the progress that my child makes with every session.
The school’s facilities are clean, offer plenty of privacy and have ample seating for parents and siblings. I love taking my child to Michael Phelps swimming for lessons every week, and wholeheartedly recommend Michael Phelps Swimming for water safety and swimming instruction. Nice place to get your kids start with to learn basics skills of swimming. The pool is small to medium (12-15 meters and 3 feet deep. The coaches are well trained and makes the experience so good for the kids. I highly recommend it for beginners

We did their baby get wet program before 6months for our son. It was incredible! My son loved it. The staff was all SO nice. Even staff that didn't teach my son would say hello and goodbye by his name! Ms. Laura was an awesome teacher and my son loved her! Such an awesome place and very thoughtful for them to teach babies for free. Kudos to Brandi and the whole team!

I highly recommend Michael Phelps Swim School! All 4 of our kids have attended swim lessons through MPSS including Mommy & Me, Small Group Lessons, and Backyard Lessons. The staff has always been very welcoming and supportive! I cannot say enough about how wonderful they have all been!

It's important for me to mention that our oldest who started MPSS lessons at 6 months old has low muscle tone along with other developmental delays. MPSS has always been AMAZING with him - patient, supportive, kind, and inclusive!

This review is specifically for Michael Phelps Swim Gym and Play on Camp Rd. in Hamburg NY. I'm so grateful for a FUN place to take my toddlers in the southtowns! This business is amazing! I met the owner she is so personable and friendly, as well as the manager! I feel at home going there. I wish we would've had our sons birthday there (definitely next time though). Such good prices and literally everything you can imagine for the kids!! I've watched this place blossom since summer and I cannot wait until the pool is ready and swimming lessons become available! 5/5, 10/10 or 100 stars for the Hamburg location of MPSG&P!!

My daughter did amazing with Ms. Kelly in the parent and kid classes. We pushed her to do everything by herself; floated on her back for 15 seconds, swam front and backwards holding the bar all by herself, got the rings from the bottom of the pool, kicked pretty well for her age. We moved her up to being with a group of kids in pre beginner 1. These teachers just go through the motions. They do not push kids to learn to swim. My daughter has gotten worse. They never let her swim by herself, they don't try to tell her to improve her kicking. They just hold her and drag her through the water. They don't even watch the kids half the time. Its been 6 months now and they don't do anything new. Noone gets better. Noone has moved up. The only teacher that was great was Mr. Z but he doesn't teach on weekend morning anymore.

My boys have been going here for a few months and they have gotten so much more confidence in the water. We usually go Monday nights but did a make up class on a Friday night and got to meet Sky who was supervising that night. She did an unplanned evaluation on my kids, gave me lots of great feedback and then went out of her way to help me get them moved into the Friday class. This is a great local resource for kids to learn to swim with wonderful employees!

I highly recommend Michael Phelps Swim School! My kiddos have been swimming since they were 3 and 1 years old (now 6 and 4). They offer private and group lessons. My kids have so much confidence not only in the water but with anything they do. We loved the Get Wet program when our little was one, and cannot wait to get our new baby in the water as soon as we can!! Please consider MPSS for all your swimming needs!

My son was invited to a birthday party here recently. Although he had a wonderful time, we will not be returning, neither as a party attendant, host of a party, or as a student.
The main safety concern was that there did not seem to be a lifeguard. There were two individuals, fully dressed with the exception of their shoes, that were both “watching” the 20+ children in the pool while also preforming managerial/office duties.
Also, the party was a two hour block and the manager made it a very rude point to be the clock-minder to the host. The demeanor or the manager/fully-dressed lifeguard was rude and off putting the entire time. It was as if they were annoyed to even be there.
I want to reiterate that we were simply guests at a party. We don’t even know the host that well. But as someone simply observing, I don’t have any desire to do business with this place. It’s a shame, too, because they maybe could have booked some more parties or gained a few new students. With some better training, like people skills, and a real lifeguard or two, maybe it could be better. But as is? Nope.

We attended a 6-7 Year old Swimming birthday party, I actually came a little early just as they were closing and the mom of the child that the party was for was bringing in all the balloons and party. Favors... I witnessed first hand how very rude the staff was, first impressions are everything! I would like to say they recovered but I can't! The 2 individuals that ran the party should NEVER be around children! They were rude and yelling. Safety is one thing but the kids were micro managed and threatened to be remove from the pool. The so called lifeguards sat on chairs together and only got up to tell the kids what they could not do! I am sure they paid a high price but def would NOT recommend this for a kids Party!

We have been at Michael Phelps swim for 6+ years- between 2 children. We started with the mommy & me, then utilized group swim lesson, semi private and private lessons as well as camps. The staff has always been professional and supportive of our kids skill levels. They helped each of them grow and develop. Our oldest is now part of a swim team in which she excels and we attribute some of her success to the strong ground work they helped her lay. The cost is comparable to other swim programs in the area. The pool and areas in the swim school are clean and well maintained. We highly recommend them and love supporting a local small business.

When I walked in there for a quick tour, people were cleaning every single chair by hands and that gave me a good first impression. They maintain the entire place super clean and organized, all staff are very nice. They have 8 private shower rooms ( golden fish does not have any, and their floor is always messy and dirty)
They also have great instructors who are very patient and attentive.
I highly recommend this place.

We have attended Michael Phelps Swim School since August 2020. My boys have advanced five swim groups and are now perfecting their freestyle, backstroke, and learning the butterfly stroke. I don’t even know how to swim butterfly stroke myself!! They are confident in the water and enjoy going to their weekly lesson. Thank you Michael Phelps Swim School for teaching my children to swim and for giving them the basic skills of water safety.

In times of covid (and the internet) it should be easy to cancel membership if you need to. I have called multiple times, left messages and keep getting charged when my son hasn’t swam there in over a month and a half! I would give a much higher rating if this didn’t feel like an overcrowded money-grabbing scheme. I have put my kids in plenty of other classes where it was not such an ordeal to cancel if need be. For the record it makes people less likely to want to return for classes at your establishment.

When we first signed up we put my daughter in group lessons but I did not feel like she got enough out of it so we switched to private lessons. I think it is a little pricey, but she is definitely making more improvements. So far she really likes all of the coaches she has had. Also making up swim classes is easy, which is greatly appreciated.

Really poor experience with Michael Phelps, Hopkins location. I had enrolled my son for private lessons at the Hopkins location. As they kept changing instructors (outside of their control I blv due to labor shortage) we decided to cancel our membership. I told Andy at the front desk at the start of the month about canceling starting the following month. We had 4 make up lessons which Andy told me that we are still able to use. This past Sunday (5 days before the end of the month) I was told by another person at the front desk that the make up lessons can only be done while you are still a member. When I called Andy, rather than proactively owning up for not clearly communicating he started referring me to membership forms that would have said that make up lessons can only be used while you are still a member. I was upset at Andy for not making me aware of this when I signed the form to cancel membership. Now I am stuck with trying to get the make up lessons in 4 days! Really poor communication and customer experience. Expect better for the price being charged!

DISAPPOINTED BEYOND BELIEF! Do not sign a cancellation form without knowing THEIR intention. We signed my sons up for a semi-private lesson and was asked to complete a cancellation form in case we decided to end the lessons. I was told they need one month prior notice. That is fair and acceptable. After our first month they cancelled us WITHOUT our approval and said we knew about it. FALSE!!!! We discussed with the owners son that we would be there for months until the boys were ready for swim team. When discussing our side of the story (our truth) the owners son kept looking through paper work to prove me wrong. I was mortified standing in front of others in the lobby as they watched on. A really nice lady came up to me and assured me she believed me and shared her frustration with getting a make-up class. She has been waiting over 1.5 months to get her son a make-up class. The problem now is that all the classes we can resign up for are during school. Completely impossible for us to attend. The swimming classes are excellent and I have no problem with the instruction. There has been a lot of turn around with the instructors. I don't know the reason why. Every class we had different teachers. Bottom line: When you are paying top dollar for lessons from a company that represents Michael Phelps, you expect trust and respect. I did NOT experience this at all.

CAUTION! On 30 day cancellation notice. Immediately after our first session, we realized this place is very crowded, no space for kids to learn anything. We realized this is not the place for us and we requested them to end the session in 30 days, but their policy made us stay for 2 months, our bad luck we dealt with wrong front desk person and her communication was very poor, I am glad we are out of this place.

My daughters were taking lessons during summer and we ended it at the end of summer. Three months later, I realized that they were still charging my credit card. I thought it was a mistake and I called them to explain that we cancelled the service three months ago and and requested a credit, they said they cant give me a credit, they are a small business and they hang up the phone on my face. What a great customer service????
If you will take any lessons from this place, make sure you are not getting overcharged, because, you will never get your money back. And make sure you check your credit statement after cancelling your service, they will keep charging until you realize.

OMG...ten gazillion gallons of chlorine here. Lol.sitting inside the pool area is sure to clear the sinuses. Doctors should prescribe 30 minute sittings inside there. The children who stick to the progression structure of lessons are impressive swimmers. Your money is well spent here after you have a child who swims better than you do!!!

The instructors are all friendly and knowledgeable, and noticeably trained to work with children. We have tried other programs in the area, Community Ed, and The Y. Nothing compares. These instructors are clearly very well trained. The water is warm, and even the most reluctant child is soon placed at ease after a few sessions. Some may feel the progression from level to level may take longer than they had hoped, but as a parent, I really get the sense that the program wants to insure your child is ready to progress to the next level. Swimming is such an important skill to have, the benefits of this program far outweigh any pool size issue other raters have mentioned. The quality of instruction your child will receive can not be beat.

The pool is small and crowded. The class was done in a serial fashion and because of the small area they could only have one child swim at a time. In the end a 30 minute session was about 8 minutes of swimming and 22 minutes of standing around. Also, put some mats on the tile in the waiting room. The instructors were friendly and knowledgable, but the facility seemed to limit what they can do.
