This is updated and Michelle Compa's continues to be a fantastic place for all levels and all (and I really do mean ALL) ages to dance. Great location close to some nice coffee houses to wait, and really great teachers. One of the gems of Riverdale!

I am an adult who has always loved ballet and never had the chance to learn. I reached out to Michele and she offered private adult lessons so I could learn the foundations. I absolutely love the process and have worked with both instructors, Ms. Teresa and Francesca. I will continue to take privates until I feel ready to take group classes but I highly recommend this dance studio because it's such an incredible atmosphere!

My daughter loves it here! We've been coming to Michele Compa for a few years now and take 3 classes a week. My daughter wants to be here everyday if she could! If you're looking for a place for your child to learn a skill as well as meet friends, this is the best place . My daughter has been dancing with Michele since she's 4 years old and she is about to attend Rutgers, the Mason Gross School of the Arts
in September. She has danced with her every single year and we owe Michele everything to what my daughter, Jade, has learned. Michele advised me on what middle school Jade should apply and audition for. Jade has happily been in Professional Performing Arts School since 6th grade and dancing with Alvin Ailey since high.school.
Michele and her staff have taught her to love and respect dance, the art of expression in dance and loving yourself.
After 40 years in business and teaching classes herself, what else can I say? She has a love for teaching classical dance which you cannot find any more and safety has always been a priority. Jade would never dance anywhere else.

My daughter had danced here for the past three years. She started as a very shy little girl taking one class and she is now taking three classes and begging for more. She is so much more confident and has loved all of her teachers and always looks forward to the big end of year recital. I have been very impressed with her increased coordination, improved posture, and knowledge of technical dance terms. She is learning so much and has made many new friends as well. This dance studio is an excellent asset to our community.

I am not allowed to accompany my daughter to ballet class, yet there are men present in the room with the little girls. When I tried to discuss this with the staff, they were extremely rude and unprofessional. I will not be bringing my daughter back to this disorganized and unsettling place.

The atmosphere is pleasant. Michelle isn't the teacher for all classes but she does make sure that her students are attending (if they will be performing in the recital). I wished for something a bit more challenging for my 6 year old but the recital was beautiful. The older kids put on a spectacular show!
