I took a class at Motiv8 on Saturday with Evelyn. She was a great instructor and very knowledgeable about the different muscle groups. I have an old shoulder injury and was a little afraid to try some of the movements but she showed me exactly how to navigate thru them without any added pain. I’ll be going back again next week for sure. Definitely feeling the full body burn today!

Evelyn is amazing - I recommend for anyone, but especially athletes, as she really takes the time to understand your specific situation and goals. I train BJJ and started feeling pain in my knees a few weeks before a competition. In our first session, Evelyn very quickly understood the issue, explained it to me, and gave me a plan to get back on track. I was able to get back to regular training within a couple of weeks, and was even able to compete with no pain at all!!

I came to Evelyn with daily foot pain and had been told by another doctor to stop doing the sports I love (“just swimming for a few months so you can heal”). She quickly diagnosed the real issue, and after just a few sessions, my feet feel better than they have in a decade. I even wore heels recently with zero pain the next day—I couldn’t believe it. Evelyn is incredibly skilled, thoughtful, and collaborative—she even worked with my powerlifting coach to support my training.

I am a weightlifter and have been working with Evelyn remotely (I live on the west coast) over the last five months for a chronic meniscus injury. She has helped me tremendously with avoiding surgery and rehabbed me to a point where I can go on long walks again and train without nagging pain.
She is charismatic and warm, and truly cares for her athletes’ well-being. Despite being able to see her in-person as often as I would like, she is excellent with identifying and addressing my weak/problem areas during our virtual sessions. She always explains her reasoning behind the exercises she prescribes and shows me how to work them into my programming to keep my knee(s) pain-free.
She is easy to reach out to and super responsive with feedback and answering my questions/concerns. I cannot recommend her enough.

I started working with Jean remotely in 2022 for powerlifting, and since then, we’ve completed 5 meets together, including a national-level competition. Jean's warm energy never goes unnoticed. As a coach, he is extremely patient and kind. He truly wants to build everyone up and work with you to reach your goals.
I had heard of Evelyn through the lifting community, but it wasn’t until I reached out for my own physical therapy consultation that I truly understood why she is so sought after. During our meeting, she made me feel heard, reassured, and confident in the steps needed for my recovery. She quickly outlined a clear plan to rebuild strength, and after just a few weeks, I noticed significant improvement.
Too often, we’re told to avoid certain activities or movements because they trigger pain. Evelyn understands that movement is medicine and helps you not only physically but also mentally overcome pain. I couldn’t recommend her enough.
No matter your fitness level, the space and the people exude warmth and make everyone feel welcome. Their mindset toward growth is clear from the quote that greets you when you walk in: "You don't have to, you get to." The team at Motiv8 BK is passionate about what they do, and you can tell that they know the impact of their work goes far beyond fitness.
The gym has 24/7 access, air conditioned, clean and organized, boxing, muay thai, physical therapy, weightlifting, powerlifting, team sessions, hybrid programing, 1-1 boxing, honestly what else could you ask for?

Evelyn is the BEST PT I’ve ever worked with. Knows her stuff through and through. She helped me rehab a broken fibula and torn ankle ligaments back from not walking at all to competing in 6 months. She is a wonderful person and PT, I would recommend her to anyone!

Evelyn is amazing! I would recommend her to anyone, she is very passionate about what she does as a Physical Therapist. I went to her at first for only one issue, but she was able to identify other issues as well that I wasn’t aware of and we were able to get them fixed all together with some exercises that she prescribed! After every session, she would send videos from the sessions and instructions to follow. She would also do check-ins to make sure I’m doing the exercises correctly from my videos. 5/5!

I have seen Evelyn a number of times for back and shoulder issues related to powerlifting. She is knowledgeable, kind, and makes recovery happen fast. It's also beneficial that she can address the issue at the root to make changes to technique, rewiring the way a movement is performed, etc. This is what sets her apart from other PT's I've seen. Of course, I want to be pain-free, but more importantly, I want to get to why an injury/pain happened in the first place, and correct that. And this is what Evelyn does so well! Go see her!

I've been training with Evelyn for over a year and a half, and I can't say enough positive things. Given her background, I trust her ability to provide practical guidance, where other health-care professionals may regurgitate theories from textbooks and articles without actual experience in the activities they advise against. I originally went to her with a herniated disc and (unbeknownst to me or my doctor) a swollen calf. After being told by my doctor that I should never do barbell squats again, Evelyn helped me make the rest of my body strong enough, while focusing on proper form, to safely resume squatting and build strength (all while eliminating the swelling in my calf). As my leg and back started to improve, we also started working on increasing strength on the upper half of my body. I've seen so much consistent progress through her programming that I'd be hesitant to work with anyone else going forward since she's set such a high bar. In addition to becoming more healthy and fit as a result of her guidance, my confidence level grew to a point where I was willing to wear sleeveless shirts in public and I even felt comfortable hoisting another human being on my shoulders during a concert, which are things I would not have even considered doing two years ago.

I am a powerlifter and have been to Evelyn twice for low back/hip pain issues and could not recommend her more!! She was super responsive on the intake, got me in quickly, and was able to diagnose and troubleshoot my pain points (lol) immediately. We got started on exercises to rehab and strengthen the areas that needed help, and i appreciate that she took a collaborative, intentional approach with my existing coach and programming to get me back on track and build me up stronger than before. I’m so grateful to her for the physical support and confidence to hit new PRs, and learned a lot along the way. It was so cool to have my PT/recovery integrated with my powerlifting program!! Also / the gym space is gorgeous, well maintained, and very thoughtfully laid out. Love training here too.

I have been working with Jean as a Powerlifting coach since 2022 and as an Olympic Weightlifting coach since 2023. Jean has helped me immensely with my transition as a strength athlete moving from powerlifting, to hybrid lifting, to weightlifting full time. Jean has coached me in USAPL States, Regionals, and local meets as well as USAW local and national meets. He is an amazing coach who has helped me overcome many challenges and I have grown so much as an athlete since beginning to work with him.
Evelyn has been my PT since 2023. I have had many PTs throughout the years, but what I love about Evelyn is she herself is a strength athlete and tailors the PT on building the body up rather than stepping down/stepping away from doing the training that I love. She is extremely knowledgeable in helping Powerlifters/Weightlifters and she has helped me grow so much from my injuries and I know I can trust her to get me as pain-free as possible.
The gym itself is extremely clean, has plenty of equipment, and has AC. The environment of its members and coaches fosters and an amazing gym community. HIGHLY recommend!!

I came to Evelyn with an injury from powerlifting that left me so discouraged and in pain every time I sat down for longer than 20 mins. I was unable to deadlift or do any movement that involved my lower back. Evelyn is a PT for athletes! She’s an athlete herself so she actually understands how important it is to continue to train. She teaches how to incorporate treatment into workouts without completely stopping you from training. She builds a proper rapport with her clients and truly gets to know how her patient’s injuries occurred—and more importantly, how to fix them. I’ve referred her to all my athlete friends and will continue to do so until she retires. 10/10 highly recommend

I reached out to Evelyn for a partial calf tear, whom I heard about through the Powerlifting community in New York City.
During our sessions, she assessed and recommended some rehab exercises for this injury, but what made our session particularly productive for me was her assessments of various aches, pains, and issues I have acquired while powerlifting.
I mentioned left lower back pain while deadlifting, which became a little more pronounced after an overshoot/max attempt.
After a few exercises, including some single leg step ups, she observed that my left leg was muchhhhh weaker than my right.
She prescribed single leg step ups, I have been able to advance these 5-10 lbs a week since I saw her last month!
I hit a 5 rep PR this week, not to mention hitting an all-time PR two weeks after seeing her. I attribute this to the fact that my lower left back pain has not been present the past few weeks, since doing the exercises she prescribed.
And my left leg definitely fairs much better on single leg step ups even since last month.
I also had some left bicep pain, recently switching over to low bar squat from high bar, which I basically exclusively did.
I mentioned shoulder immobility, and she prescribed prone swimmers, which, while I already had in my program, I wasn't putting enough effort into them :D.
Fixing my effort, it not only has been much easier to get into a low bar position, but I do not have left bicep pain.
We assessed more, but the point is I will aim/hope to visit Motiv8 at least on a quarterly basis, just to kick the tires, since my only session was so productive.
I strongly recommend Motiv8 Physical Therapy. Being able to improve aches and pains and managing injury while training with intention and planning was my goal, and Evelyn greatly enabled me being able to do so.

Working with Evelyn has been a game changer. I’ve been powerlifting for 1.5 years and struggled with squats because of constant hip issues. I worked with 2 PTs prior but they didn’t have experience working with powerlifters.
Evelyn evaluated my condition in a 50 minute session. She was able to diagnose my hip issues and provide a holistic solution, including what to do for warm ups and rehab exercises to add to my program. I attached a PDF she created for me. I love that she encouraged me to loop my coach into our communication so we could all be on the same page.
Two weeks later, I’m squatting with confidence going into my first meet. I’m hitting depth and feeling no pain in my hips with heavy weights.
Thank you so much for your help Evelyn! I highly recommend her to anyone who powerlifts or struggles with any pain or movement issues.

Evelyn from Motiv8 PT has been a highly reliable source of knowledge and care on my journey to compete in barbell sports. I've gone to her on multiple occasions for various concerns I've had arise. She has been prompt and communicated clearly how I should address the problem areas I've had. Thanks to my visits I've successfully rehabbed injuries, I've gained the ability to use my body more effectively with mobility training, and I've become a better athlete who is more confident in striving to the next level.
Evelyn is phenomenal at understanding patient's issues. She was able to adjust care/diagnosis at times I had limited range of motion. She tailored my PT to me (based on what I can do with my body). Most important of all, as a heavy lifter, she provided paths to recovery where I don't have to take extended time off and lose progress. This is why I can trust her services.

Evelyn Herrera is an excellent physical therapist who has helped me tremendously in my recovery journey as Ive been pursuing martial arts. I've been seeing her since 2022, and during this time, she has provided me with various treatments and exercise programs for my feet, ankles, knees, hips, and various muscle groups that have been affected by my underlying clubbed foot condition. What sets Evelyn apart from other physical therapists is her thoroughness and insight when it comes to treating athletes who are involved in the fight game. She took the time to assess my condition and tailored her treatments and exercise programs to meet my specific needs. As a result, I've noticed massive improvements in every area of my condition as well as my performance in my sport.
One of the things I appreciate most about Evelyn is that she is a competitive weightlifter and also trains in Muay Thai which enables her to bring a perspective to her work that has been great for me as an athlete competing in the same areas. Her knowledge and experience in these fields has helped provide me with valuable insights and recommendations that have helped me perform at my best.

As a former college athlete and lifelong fitness enthusiast, I have been treated by my fair share of physical therapists and I can confidently state that Evelyn is in a league of her own. From our very first session, I was impressed with her knowledge, dedication, and passion. Evelyn developed a detailed & personalized treatment plan to help me recover from injuries that had been plaguing me for years (and had been misdiagnosed by other physical therapists!). At the end of every session, Evelyn sent invaluable & detailed follow-up notes with video / photos to help guide me through my home exercise program. I was amazed at how quickly I was able to recover from pain that I thought I would just have to learn to "deal with" when weightlifting for the rest of my life. I've been a competitive athlete for the last 20 years and Evelyn is one of the best PTs I've worked with. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable, but she goes above and beyond with communication (a huge differentiator in a saturated market) and she deeply understands the mind/body connection. After each session, she promptly follows up with thorough notes to summarize what was covered and she makes sure to follow up between sessions for brief check ins or to share general words of affirmation. On top of this, her PT works and helps to heal you so you can stay active in the short and long term. After dealing with a nagging hamstring injury for years that would sideline me, I haven't missed a session since I've started to work with Evelyn and even when something has flared mid session, she's given me the tools to keep me grounded and complete the workout. I definitely recommend Evelyn for any and all injuries you may be dealing with and/or any thing that may become an injury. She is someone you want to have in your corner.

In the saturated field of physical therapists, it's surprisingly rare to find someone so understanding of those who train for strength, who isn't going to tell you to stop squatting or lifting heavy, but instead will work with you to find ways to modify movements until you're back to fighting form. We've all been there with hearing bad advice like not letting your knees past your toes when you squat, never squatting to depth, etc. Evelyn is extremely professional and knowledgeable and I trust her implicitly.
I've been seeing her on and off for about a year for various issues, but I reached out to her most recently in a state of panic due to a back pain flare up in the weeks leading up to a powerlifting meet. Not only was she immediately there with possible exercises to try out, she was able to talk me off my ledge of anxiety and help me get back in a mindset that would eventually get me to meet day pain free and able to perform at my best.
Additionally, as someone who unfortunately has the tendency to ghost/not check-in, Evelyn truly cares about her patients and will take the time to check in to see how you're feeling, to see if there has been any improvement in pain levels, and to see if maybe there are any adjustments that need to be made to your treatment plan to make it more manageable. I truly, truly appreciate her attentiveness and her flexibility. You definitely want her in your corner!

Evelyn is knowledgeable, professional and friendly!
Prepping for a powerlifting meet, I noticed that my left knee and lower back were especially achy. Wanting to ensure I was in the best shape possible to lift, I booked an appointment with Evelyn after hearing a few positive reviews from friends.
Within an hour, we discussed my previous injury history, training regiment, potential causes for current issues and resolutions. She then sent a recap of the prescribed homework in an email for easy access.
Following her instructions, I was able to compete a few weeks later without any of my initial issues. Evelyn was great, she even knew how to overcome technological issues since we met virtually. I would recommend her to any of my friends seeking PT.

As a Masters lifter, I'm always injuring something. But because of Evelyn Herrera at Motiv8, all that injured stuff gets fixed pronto. I am so grateful for her attention to my details, the way she always checks in just as I'm starting to stray from the program, and the empathy she has -- because she's also an athlete. A godsend.

Incredible. Meticulous and rigorous in her practice and also in her teaching. I very much appreciate how Dr. Herrera continuously verbalized where she would place her hands; it made the sessions feel safe. Provides detailed recaps of the sessions with videos and images on how to do the exercises. Great energy and service- couldn't recommend higher =)

Evelyn is an amazing PT. I've been seeing her as needed for the last two years, and she's never failed to address any pain or injuries I sustain during training, while keeping me active through the recovery process. She's incredibly knowledgeable and always knows exactly what I need in order to get my training back on track.

Evelyn is excellent! I'm a competitive powerlifter, and I came to her after tweaking something in my back about 3.5 weeks before a competition. I was having trouble doing squats and deadlifts without significant pain, and wanted to see if there was a way to get the pain under control by competition day. Evelyn worked with me over Zoom to rule out any major injury red flags, and created a realistic plan that got me lifting pain-free in time for my meet. Post-competition, I'm continuing to check in with her periodically to work on some general strength imbalances. I have been seeing great improvements in both my lifting and my day-to-day minor aches and pains. Cannot recommend her enough!

I can’t say enough about Evelyn. Evelyn aims to provide the most up to date practice through continuing her own education and keeping up to date with the literature. Not only is she a professional in the field of physical therapy, but she is also a competitive powerlifter and a very active individual herself. Through this unique experience she is not just able to provide top-tier physical therapy sessions, she is also able to empathize, empower and drive confidence into each patient. As a competitive powerlifter and weightlifter myself, I’ve had to deal with multiple elbow, shoulder and back issues and during each session Evelyn asks me many questions and runs multiple tests to identify and diagnose the pain that I’m dealing with. After getting a good diagnosis of what’s going on she walks me through a variety of drills that will be implemented into a plan to help me come out pain free and stronger. As I continue on with my athletic endeavors, I have the upmost confidence in pushing myself because I know I’ll be working with Evelyn.

I first came to Evelyn with a chronic shoulder pain and self mis-diagnosed injury. We spent the majority of the first session finding the root cause, and the rest assessing the limitations of said injury. Her experience as an athlete is very evident as there were adaptations introduced that didn't feel as if they're cookie cutter therapy movements - they were in fact low impact/high reward exercises that I've continued despite having "fixed" my shoulder. I cannot recommend Evelyn enough if you're somebody whose daily physical demands exceed the standard person's.

Since hurting my back in college rowing, I've been to a lot of PTs. Honestly, my view of them is pretty dismal; mostly they didn't help.
But Evelyn, the owner of Motiv8, was a different story. First, she identified weaknesses that were stressing my back. One of my legs was a lot stronger than the other. Within a month, they were basically the same!!
Evelyn is a national level powerlifter. Because of that, she was perfect for me as a former athlete and someone who lifts weights and tries to get strong. A LOT of her clients are althetes and those who don't just want to be pain free, but want to perform.
She takes care of her clients not only physically but emotionally. This was huge for me in my recovery!
Overall, I can't recommend her enough! I'll be back if I ever get injured again.

Evelyn is amazing!! I first came to her in February 2020 after suffering an injury, and she quickly diagnosed the problem and created a plan to help move past it. We only met a few times in person due to Covid, but Evelyn seamlessly transitioned over to virtual meetings with frequent check-ins. When we finished our sessions, I was so much stronger than when we first started, and of course fully healed from the injury! I would recommend Evelyn and Motiv8 to anyone looking for a devoted and knowledgable PT!

I experienced very bad elbow pain on the squat after 1.5 years of powerlifting, which was strange.
One of the gym members recommended that I see Motiv8, which turned out to be the best decision I could have made.
After a conversation and mobility examinations, Evelyn was able to provide me with a diagnosis, as well as guidance and exercises,
I've already seen changes after just one week. After two weeks, there is no longer any discomfort.

In my experience, evelyn was super super helpful in bringing me back to hard training despite my previous injuries. I had explained to her that my previous PTs weren’t much help and she got me the right diagnosis to keep hitting it hard. She stays checking up on my progress post appointment which is super nice of her and she makes sure to answer any questions I ever have. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the city.

Evelyn has kept me healthy for the last 2 years and I highly recommend her. Like many folk, I work a desk job but try to stay active in my free time. Evelyn has helped me work through knee tendinitis, hip pain, and various smaller aches. Her approach to PT is a focus on movement and activity. Many doctors would have told me to stop squatting on a painful knee but Evelyn found exercises to help me strengthen the knee, reduce pain and continue to maintain my exercise as part of my life. She follows up regularly with me and makes sure my PT exercises are adjusted to continue my progress, and has been invaluable to my well being. I can’t say enough good things about working with Evelyn.

5 stars does not do evelyn’s work justice. I started seeing her about two and a half years ago about a knee injury that doctors told me I needed surgery for. It is amazing what she can do in just 1 session. As a former swimmer I can say that I suffered many minor injuries that I never paid any mind to and Evelyn was able to spot them when I was going to see her for a completely different issue. I have to say that the time and effort she puts in to each and every one of her clients, will not be found any where else. Thanks to the amazing work she did on making me feel 200% I finally felt strong and confident enough to join her and my aunt (who is also a client of evelyn’s) in powerlifting. Such an amazing, strong woman who pushes you to give your body the attention, love and strength it needs.

I can’t say enough good things about Evelyn. As a professional musician (viola-player) and a competitive powerlifter, she’s helped me improve an absolute myriad of issues and become a better player and lifter in the process. She asks questions that go beyond your concern and pain to find the root of the problem and solves it head-on. She is quick to respond and overall highly communicative, flexible in her schedule, and works with you and your coach to create a rehabilitation plan that will bring you back from injury stronger than before. Can’t recommend her enough!

I’ve been seeing Evelyn for around two years now. as a power lifter i felt i needed to see someone who understood my training needs and the source of my pain. evelyn is also a power lifter and engages in martial arts as well and as a result she functions as a sports specialist for me. she’s gotten me through sciatica tendinitis shoulder pain etc. and improved my performance drastically! evelyn is incredibly kind, attentive and has the eyes of an eagle. i see her for evaluations and then do follow up work for the subsequent weeks/months and have so far been able to

Also, Evelyn has many unique certifications (Kinstretch, FRC) that will expedite your recovery, elevate your athletic potential, and just generally help you move BETTER. Super grateful to have Evelyn as my PT! I was initially working with another PT prior, but was not able to keep up with the regime given. Evelyn was able to accommodate my busy schedule and made therapy simple but effective. It was encouraging be able to relate to someone who understood the mental effects an injury has on an athlete. Highly recommended!!

I came to Evelyn almost a yr ago while training in Powerlifting and Muay Thai. I was introduced to her last Sept when I suffered a hip injury while prepping for a Powerlifting meet. I couldn’t even lift up my right leg to get out of bed, that’s how much pain I was feeling at the time. I just wanted to feel ‘normal’ again. I was freaking out thinking that I for sure had to back out of this meet but Evelyn reassured me that she will get my body right where it needs to be, and in time for the meet too.
After our very first session, I was already starting to feel better. She’d encourage me and say “stick to the plan and I will lead you to the land of gains”. She was not playing when she said that because she definitely got me those gains and more. Not only was I pain free after a few sessions, I also ended up placing 2nd place in my weight class at the meet.
Evelyn definitely got my body back to homeostasis and I’m forever grateful for that. She really is truly amazing at her craft and as a person too. I can’t tell you how much good she’s done for my overall well-being. I wholeheartedly recommend her if you ever need help getting back to feeling ‘normal’.

I am so grateful I found Evelyn when I didn't even know how much I needed her. She treated my over the course of 9 months for a running injury (plantar fasciitis), and during this time I became stronger than I've ever been, allowing me to get back into marathon running and be better than ever, after temporarily not being able to run at all and feeling intermittent foot pain daily. It was a longer road to recovery than I expected - Evelyn does not promise miracles and was honest every step of the way about what I would need to do to get back to where I wanted to be while keeping things positive and keeping me motivated. She supported me emotionally through the recovery process too and became much more than just a physical therapist. I am so deeply appreciative of her work, and she is one of the best professionals I have dealt with. I constantly want to recommend everyone I know with any kind of pain or something not-quite-right to go see her - she is very focused on the whole body and injury causes beyond surface-level (she identified that my right foot pain turned out to be a symptom of poor left-leg strength!).

I know Evelyn and her excellent professional reputation because we share the same work space at Work Train Fight, however, when I injured my right hand 10 days before a fight, I knew that her advise and her practice were the best way to be able to get back to the ring on time.
Evelyn worked on my hand, she was thorough and accurate in her assessment, not only at the moment when she found the exact point of pain and started working on it right away, but she instructed me post-session exercises that made a big difference.
While she is working, she explains the potential reason behind the pain, why that specific exercise will help and how the body is supposed to react. It helps you prevent potential future injuries, which is something that, in my professional path as a fighter and personal trainer, is relevant.
I appreciate all the work she put on my hand to get me fight ready, as her contribution to bring me closer to the win.

I went to Evelyn with a pain in my left shoulder that at one point got so bad, I couldn't lift my arm above shoulder level. I had been to other PTs and I had short term results but the pain always came back even with doing the homework they gave me. I decided to go to Evelyn as I've heard many good things about her and that was probably one of the best decisions I've made for my own physical health. She is hands-on, attentive, explains everything in detail, and most importantly, follows up and isn't afraid to tell you like it is when she finds out you haven't been doing the exercises post-session. Evelyn Herrera has treated me for over the past few years, mostly related to years of lifting heavy weights and competing in the sport of power lifting. Evelyn is a fantastic PT! As a powerlifter, it was critical for me to find a PT that understood my needs as a strength athlete and given that she is a strength athlete herself, I knew I was going to be in good hands. She helped me not only to recover from recurring back issues, but helped to isolate the cause (weak glutes). She never discouraged me from training (like some PTs often do), but instead advised me on how to change the way I train to focus on my weak areas. She's super nice and easy to talk to as well. Whether you are a strength athlete or just an average person recovering from injury, I highly recommend her!
