I am loving Moving Strength. I've been doing Pilates for about 15 years but looking to shake things up. I've now taken Desira's plate tower class and Samantha's strength and stability class to do something different and have loved both. the instructors pay attention to form and are both tough but encouraging. Great combo.

I live on the uws and have a # of options for pilates and moving strength has been my favorite so far. I typically don’t like group classes bc I need to be challenged and the instructors here will modify and offer challenging alternatives. And it’s affordable with a great vibe (unlike the other studios in my neighborhood). I’ve only taken 4 classes so far but so far great experience 👍👍👍

It was my first time doing Pilates, I took the class with Laurie. She was wonderful!! I had such a fun time learning and trying something new. I take Clara’s Reformer class every Tuesday which is an excellent class. Clara is a terrific instructor because she always has a well thought out class that moves seamlessly from one exercise to the next. She is very clear about your form and is watching each student to ensure we are all doing the exercise correctly. She provides options if you want the exercise to be more challenging to get the most from the exercise. She also teaches another class on Wednesdays that incorporates the jump board which is also fun and also challenging. Both are great classes.

After 5 yrs away from Pilates I was eager to get back on a reformer but scared to make an ass of myself in a group class. I signed up for a few private sessions at Moving Strength and could not be happier that I did. Taja was an AMAZING instructor helping me confront my weak areas and build my confidence. She could see where I needed improvements and customized our sessions to fit my needs and abilities. After 8 private sessions I feel like a completely different person! The studio on 2nd ave was a nice clean and cozy space and I look forward to joining the group classes very soon!

I bought a 3 class package but only used 2 classes. The machinery is out of date and instructions on how to use the machinery is confusing. For example, they will tell you to put a blue or a yellow resistance band on, but the colors don't correspond. There is a chart they have listed that translates the colors. It's all very confusing. The instructors also don't help with modifications. I wish I could get a refund for the 3rd class.

I just completed my 3rd session (newbie to Pilates) and am officially in love! I knew from the first session that I’d be continuing on at moving strength, but now after 3 sessions, I can confidently say that it would be silly to not make this a part of my exercise routine. It has already helped my back and neck pain so much.
I struggle with TMJ which affects those both a ton and Pilates reformer has really helped improve my daily pain - and my breathing. I feel more calm, at peace and slower in my everyday movement - in a good way - more intentional and relaxed. The teachers are all wonderful and very patient with beginners. I have felt very welcomed here as a new student and am excited to make this a part of my health goals and lifestyle.

I cannot say enough good things about moving strength in any of the locations. I have been a loyal and delighted customer for many years and greatly give credit to the knowledgeable teachers and creative teaching styles for keeping my back in tune and helping me get rid of back pain. The owner is incredible and picks her team well. Cannot reccomend enough!

I am a Pilates devotee who moved from NY to LA about six years ago. While visiting family on a recent trip back to NY, I had the pleasure of taking classes at Moving Strength on the UWS. What a fantastic studio. The teachers are professional and friendly. The studio is light and bright. I took five classes over the course of a week and enjoyed every one. I can't recommend Moving Strength enough!

I moved back to my hometown NYC 13 years ago and compared all the pilates studios uptown. There was no question in my mind that I’d be purchasing a large amount of classes at Moving Strength. Each teacher has their own eclectic style that helps to make class interesting and challenging. The classes are divided by experience tho Patricia trains each teacher to additionally cater the class to each individual. I’ve continued to come to Moving Strength several times a week. There’s no better place.

I have been doing Pilates at Moving Strength for seven years. It's a phenomenal studio, just superb, characterized by excellent teaching and warm, friendly staff. Equal to my appreciation of the Pilates instruction is how much I like and admire the owner, Patricia Ruiz. She is a model small-business owner and a superb teacher. This is a first-rate place, do yourself a favor and go!

I started doing Pilates at moving strength several years ago- before COVID At the time, I did the reformer, open tower , jump board etc at the studio and loved the classes and all the teachers Then COVID hit and I have mainly been doing zoom classes I absolutely love the classes , love Patricia, Raleigh, and Desira I have a bad back and all of them are so knowledgeable and always offer modifications when needed The classes r great, but in addition there is such a connection with the other students as well as the instructors Everyone is welcome from beginners to advanced

Moving Strength is my go to Pilates studio. The teachers are outstanding and their attention to form ensures your health, safety and long term fitness level. I consider Pilates not only an amazing workout but an overall strategy for maintaining the musculature necessary for our bone and muscle health. I cannot endorse this studio enough!!

I heard about moving strength from a neighbor when I was looking to start Pilates for the first time. She couldn’t say enough good things about it, and my orthopedist told me that the only way I could protect my back from worsening was to strengthen my core. I started at Moving Strength a little over a year ago, mainly taking private lessons twice a week. I worked with many different teachers (including Desira and Arrie who are both phenomenal) and found each one had something really special about their teaching style and knowledge. I can proudly say that I am still going twice a week and don’t think I could live without it! Thank you Moving Strength for changing my life! My back hasn’t gone out once since I started!

Moving Strength is a serious exercise studio with highly qualified, dedicated instructors. If you are ready to make a commitment to improve your strength, avoid injuries, sculpt your body and learn how to move beautifully, this is a great place to learn. No frills, but the equipment is up to date, the studio is bright and airy and spotlessly clean.

I really love moving strength because of its small intimate setting. Because the classes are never bigger than four people, you almost always have close guidance on your form. I’m giving 4 stars because I think that the quality of the classes really depends on the instructors. The ones that I like are 5/5 but I’ve had to learn thru experience which ones to avoid

I've taken pilates classes with various instructors at Moving Strength and I am never disappointed! The studio is small and for pilates equipment classes, the max. people is 5 so you always get personal attention from the instructors. Most instructors have been teaching at the studio for a long time and so you don't get constant change in instructors. It's not your fancy studio with showers or upscale facilities but it's definitely more personable. I will keep going back to it!
