I've been a MoC member for 2 years. During this time I've met some great folks, got myself in the best shape ever, and got myself seriously addicted to the sport. The programming is solid, and workouts can always be scaled up or down to match your abilities. Coaches always keep an eye on everyone and give some great advice, they also encourage you to be a better version of yourself without anxiously competing with anyone else. I highly recommend at least attending a free trial, and then 6:00AM crosstraining classes if you can manage ;)

Had a really good session and after bumping into Jacob who helped us into the space we were welcomed in with extremely open arms and had an amazing session whilst we were in town.
Would highly recommend!
Only thing would be to try and call ahead of time as trying to find a time to come and do a casual visit with the 'schedule' on the website isn't as clear as I would have hoped.

Welcoming community and all around fantastic place to train. Coaches really care about helping you achieve your goals. My introduction to the powerlifting program has been seamless, and my only regret is not joining sooner!

Inclusive gym with very knowledgable and friendly coaches. Kurt's programming is well rounded with focus areas that change on a quarterly basis. Most importantly, everyone who goes to the gym is super friendly and the gym really prides itself on creating community amongst its members. Kurt and team have also done a great job keeping us safe during COVID and communicating about any changes to protocol. Can't recommend Murder of Crows highly enough!

Murder of Crows (MOC) has been my gym of choice for 5 years now. At first it was because of geographic convenience (a short 7 minute walk from my apartment).
NOW it's my gym of choice because of the top quality trainers and welcoming community atmosphere amongst members.
The gym is spacious, has a variety of equipment and intentional programming created by its staff of coaches. I really feel like even in a class of 15 people I'm getting personal attention and feedback to make sure I'm safe and setup for success.
As an LGBTQ member as well, I need to share that MOC is an incredibly inclusive space. Members can openly be themselves whatever their identity. Representation and allyship aplenty!
I also think having a relationship with Good Reps Physical Therapy is a HUGE bonus added within the last few years. As a marathon runner, the partnership has made my training more personal and effective. If I'm recovering from an injury or have specific goals there is communication between my PT and the coaching staff to make sure my needs are accommodated.

I've attended MOC as both a functional fitness athlete (crossfit) and weightlifter. I was shocked how well the crossfit programming was to prep me for the Crossfit Open 2021. I got super strong super fast. The programming was also very translatable to weightlifting, that when I made the transition to a weightlifter, I had no problems at all. The barbell club programming put 5kgs on my PR in less than a year. For a seasoned athlete like myself, this is a huge feat.
No only is the programming done with care, but MOC doesn't skimp on quality equipment for weightlifting, powerlifting, or functional fitness. I've never been so spoiled with top of the line gear at any crossfit gym/barbell club.
Finally, the cherry on top of all above, is that the coaching staff are incredibly friendly and ready to help regardless of how long you've been training at the gym. MOC is a very low pressure environment to get strong at.

I donβt have enough words to talk about how great this box is. I recently moved to Brooklyn and needed to join a new gym. All the coaches have been so welcoming and helpful. Even the owner Kurt has been so helpful in recommending PT for a shoulder injury I have. If youβre looking for a welcoming, open minded, friendly crossfit experience, look no further - this is it!

If you're serious about training, this place is hard to beat. You can get top notch advice on weighlifting, powerlifting, and CrossFit. Great selection of equipment and tons of weightlifting/powerliting platforms. All coaches are amazing, always helpful and knowledgeable. Since the classes are small, you basically get private coaching while lifting.
The only problem is their reservation system. You have to reserve slots in advance, at least 2 hours before the session. You also can't cancel things if it's less than 2 hours before your slot. This means that if you wake up at 8:10am and want to attend a 10am class that still has 2-3 spots available, you're out of luck. Similarly, if you already reserved that spot and are unable to attend, it won't let you cancel and will consume one of your 2/3/5 slots for that week.
While a reservation system like this is understandable, it definitely leads to lots of time spent trying to juggle with the slots and figuring out which ones you can and can't attend.

Awesome gym with awesome people. Kurt is great. My son qualified for Youth Nationals USA Weightlifting. Needed a gym with competition KG bumper weights. Looked all over for a gym on Long Island where we live with no luck. Sent a request to Murder Of Crows Barbell asking for help. Kurt responded right away. He set up an area for us to do the competition. He even set up a TV and speakers so we could watch the live event while my son competed. Kurt was extremely knowledgeable of how the competition ran and gave great guidance and took care of declaring weights. My son got Bronze in Snatch and 5th overall in his first real competition setting. Donβt think he would have done as well without Kurtβs help. Highly recommended weightlifting gym!!!

Being in fitness all my life I can assert to you this is the best business Iβve ever been a part of. The lifters are kind and dedicated. It truly has a care applied to every facet of this establishment. No gimmicks, no cheap tricks, every piece of equipment in this gym is used by beginners and experienced lifters alike.
There are no TVs, no funny quotes, and everyone is accountable for supporting each other and welcoming growth and change.
Join this gym.

I have been a member at Crow Hill CrossFit for over two years. The programming is challenging and thoughtful, and it ensures that you are always improving, whether you are a seasoned athlete working on an advanced gymnastics move, or a brand new member working to get their first pull up.
The coaches are knowledgeable and motivating and kind. They know exactly how to push you and when, and they celebrate each incremental fitness milestone right along with you. The athlete community at CH is uniformly welcoming, encouraging, and accepting. The gym is always a positive and fun place to be, even (or especially) when you find yourself struggling to lift something heavy.
If you are serious about setting and achieving fitness goals, or if youβre just looking for a great place to drop-in, Crow Hill is highly recommended.

I have been a member of Crow Hill for nearly four years and consider it a true part of my community. I joined out of convenience (proximity to my home, time of classes) and have made it to almost four classes a week ever since because I love the coaching and results. I feel stronger mentally and physically and appreciate the thoughtfulness in the programming and the fun they bring to rigorous exercise. Join us!

The coaches are super knowledgeable and are champions in weightlifting and powerlifting. They are super helpful and down to earth, able to help inexperienced beginners like myself. They run a few free classes and I loved it so I signed up for a 10 session drop in pass. Also love seeing many strong women working out! It's honestly not too common at other gyms.

Final word: Competitive and collaborative community of lifters who will make you feel at home and help you achieve your goals for yourself, whatever those might be.
Starting lifter with absolutely no experience, but I've gotten excellent coaching over the last couple of months and am building strength and confidence in the movements. Every coach has taken a moment to introduce himself or herself, check in on me, and correct details of my form that might lead to injury or just less than optimal workouts. Corrections are always delivered professionally, and technique is valued far more than raw numbers or dramatic progress. Even though I'm one of the least experienced lifters in the community, I always feel safe and respected, and I know I'm improving.
So it's the community, really, that stands out to me at MoCB. At least once a week all business will stop as everybody cheers someone going for a PR or just working on a difficult lift. If you're having a bad day, set your cage up wrong, have to move equipment, or need a spot, you'll get support no matter who you ask for help.
Finally, as a woman, I have to say that this is probably the most female- and body-friendly fitness space I've encountered. It's not just that a significant percentage of the lifters are female; all of the men in the gym, coaches and lifters alike, are supportive, respectful, and never make your gender or appearance a matter of comment. Just looking around is reassuring: the room's full of different body types and fitness levels, and while there's definitely differences in how we lift, this gym can be home to athletes at any level.
