Seriously DISAPPOINTED, was a loyal member for years (originally fit club member) once NYSC took over everything went down hill. Equipment was not maintained (which is honestly a safety issue), they ran our of cleaning supplies for machines on multiple occasions, the ceiling in the CLASS ROOM was leaking for months and never fixed! I stayed honestly bc the spin instructors were amazing. Once i moved to another town I left and joined another gym closer to home, so I went in there, spoke with someone at front desk, signed the cancellation sheet and cancelled membership. Months later notice they are still BILLING ME. Contacted them multiple times, was told they had no documentation that I had cancelled- told me the could put in a submission for a reimbursement for this month but anything for the last SEVERAL MONTHS Id have to contact corporate via email. Needless to say i have received NOTHING, NO reimbursement, NO email. Such poor customer service. Ive never written reviews in my life, but felt compelled to because I was treated so poorly by them. DO NOT join this gym.

Liked at first but soon realized machine maintenance was terrible and they even have a cracked sealing that leaks on the turf. They gave me a 3 week notice that they were going to increase fees which made me cancel a week after. They still charged me for the upcoming month. 24 hr fitness gives you a hot tub, pool, basketball court and more for just about the same price. I'll speak with my money.
10/11/20 Follow up: Several months later they contacted me this week asking if I want to renew my membership. Guess profits are hurting. Karma 🙏🏽

Just went back to NYSC to reinstate my gym membership-I took a deep breath because their customer service has not been the highlight of this gym. Well-Lauren is an asset!! So very helpful and pleasant!! Also the gym is immaculate!! Looking forward to working out at NYSC again!!

I am writing this review as of 9/11/2020 about a week after NY gyms have re-opened due to COVID. This gym is the best run facility I have come across so far. I feel very safe and everything has been modified to allow for social distancing precautions. All the staff wear their masks and enforce the mask policy with the members on a periodic basis as they walk the floor. Cleaning stations are set up all throughout and they even have new equipment. Please take a tour of the place and give it a chance as I want all gyms to succeed in this pandemic, but I also want to spotlight facilities such as this that are handling this very well.

Company continues to charge after cancellation of membership. Charged fees during pandemic and will not credit and now is charging yearly fees. Spoke to Cristina the manager who pretty much said its not her problem.

I tried cancelling my membership over the phone once they reopened. And I only knew they reopened because I saw I was charged on Sept 1st because there was no type of communication that they were reopening. And since they didn't open the first week gov Cuomo allowed for reopening, I thought they may not open. Now when they reopened there hours of operation have changed and there is no spin class. Both changes don't work since, I use the gym early in the morning before work and my fiance uses spin class. Neither of these is what really is upsetting.
What's upsetting is that when the gym was closed for the month of April I was charged my membership fee in April. And this was confirmed when I went in today and spoke with someone. I was told in April that I was charged but once we reopen that will go towards that opening month. Obviously that's was wrong. I understand that we went through a pandemic, I know first hand working on the front lines. And I never tried to get reimbursed for half my fees for March considering it was only open for two weeks of the month.
Now I was told that there will be a cancellation fee over the phone last night, but to cancel my membership I had to come in and do it in person. Why I dont know, I wasn't asked for any form of ID or even my membership pass on my phone. I just gave my name. Which could have been done over the phone. So when I go to cancel my membership that my April fees would apply to that. Great I'm okay with that. But my September charge will stay. It's 9/3 you opened 9/1 and I haven't used the gym. I'm told it must be done in person and not over the phone. And when a manager is present. Okay so I'm here my first day off to do that. And you want to keep two months of membership fees when one month you weren't open and obviously not using for the month of September.
Can someone explain to me how any of this makes sense. How you get charged for a month when you couldn't provide services and than want to keep a month membership for cancelling.
Does the better business bureau know about this. Does everyone who lives in the area know about this. I can't be the only person who was charged for the month of April only to be charged for the month of September.

Having managed gyms in my past I have to say this facility lacks customer service on every level. They don’t communicate with members of upcoming changes in policy, they charge memberships when facility is closed, they unfreeze memberships without consent from members, and they never answer their phones.

This gym can not get out of it's own way when it comes to customer service issues. I have had billing problems for months and spoke to several people on different occasions, each time getting passed along to another person who says they fixed the issues and again they are never fixed. From double billings to frozen and unfrozen accounts, their excuse was that we didn't have a general manager for a while. When does this become the clients problem. Now that all the gyms are closed when you call the corporate customer service number, the recording states "we can't help you at this time please call back". I should expect nothing different. You have made a mess of what this gym was when it was owned by Fit Club! I will cancel my family membership by going through the credit card and canceling payment going forward.

I’ve been a NYSC member for about a year now and I couldn’t be happier. I transferred from a gym in bellmore that was old, dirty and had a lot of broken machines. NYSC Massapequa is ALWAYS clean, there are at least 3 of every machine, so you can always count on being in and out without having to wait on other members. My favorite part of NYSC is definitely the spin classes. Rebecca who teaches on Mondays and Saturdays is absolutely AMAZING. I stopped going to SoulCycle because of how awesome her classes are. Overall, I could not be happier at this gym. 10/10!

Been a member of this gym for years now and it has only gotten better. From the members, staff, equipment and cleanliness this gym has been great! My mom loves the classes and I love the free weight area. It’s rare to find a gym that is so well maintained these days. Very happy to be a member here!

Pros:
- Super friendly staff!
- Parking is never an issue
- not super expensive
-parking is never an issue like a lot of gyms around massapequa
- never an issue with not being able to get on equipment
Cons:
-Some of the equipment takes a little long to get fixed when broken
-not open 24 hrs
- weights NEVER get re-racked properly

I came here when big al’s closed and I have loved it since. I have gone to most of the gyms around the area since 2013 and this one has stuck with me. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a nice place to lift with pleasant vibes.

Very strange place. It was big with what seemed to be a lot of equipment. Upon entering the desk guy said they dont give towels because people steal them. The locker room was set up to make sure you dont want to take a shower(inside what appeared to be a bathroom stall and a hand sanitizer despenser) the lockers were 8 inchs wide 1 and a half feet tall and 10 inches deep (the smallest I've seen in all the nassau and suffolk nysc locations) the gym machines were very odd to operate and the benches were made of extremely hard composite plastic material very uncomfortable. Basically a giant letdown.

DO. NOT. JOIN. THIS. GYM!!! Have been a member since Lucille Roberts days - nearly 20 years. Could have gone to a million other gyms, but thought I'd give the new NYSC a try. Management and communication is horrible. Have been asking for a copy of my contract and of course, no one can located it. Spoke to new GM, who made several promises to follow up on some concerns. She never followed through or returned my calls, as promised. Gym even debited my bank account for a "maintenance" fee even after I cancelled my membership. There's so much more that I can't even mention in this post. My advice to you...Take your business elsewhere - where loyalty is appreciated and shown.

Gym is whatever but management is terrible. My membership was uncanceled the same day is was cancelled without my consent. Added $10 to my membership without my knowledge AFTER i cancelled and charged me for it. Had to re cancel at a new date and pay for ANOTHER additional month (at the higher price). Management was not willing to work with me in any way and just wanted me to re join. Everyone has their own membership at this gym, some people pay $20 for this gym while others pay $50.

Also got an email to add a family or friend for $20 a month? Why not change my price first before I decided to add a family or friend. Raised my rate way to high. Spoke to manager and she lowered my rate $5. The next month it went back up. This place is always dusty, which I would consider dirty. Under all machines have not been cleaned under since they took over. TV's hardly work, water fountain always broken& the staff is unfriendl .

I cancelled my membership in February over email they still took money out of my account, then I cancelled in person on june 3rd and a month later they charged my card again, its really sad they just siphon money out of me, Wouldn't recommend this gym to anybody,100% scam.

Maintenance on the machines is awful. If they’re not broken they squeak or get stuck mid repetition. Other than the cardio machines this place is trash none of the barbell clips fit and the machines suck. The benches are uncomfortable half the attachments for the cable machines are missing or broken or have no clip to attach them to the pulley.

Love the spin instructors. Hate the fact that my car was violently broken into, windows shattered, glass EVERYWHERE (which has also happened to a lot of other customers) and staff members were indifferent about it.

NYSC not too honest. They lie about membership charges & some members are joining for $19.99 monthly & others are getting prices of $49.99 monthly????They seem to charge your credit card for unjustified charges. Stereo in spin room & exercise class ALWAYS broken along with spin bikes not working properly. We have to constantly wait for the instructors to fugure out what is wrong with the stereo's. A spin instructor fell trying to fix the stereo. Leaks in ceilings & no soap in ladies room for weeks. They want you to wipe down your spin bike after use, but they were out of wipes for weeks on end. The fans in the spin room are loaded with dust balls & we are probably breathing in that dust. The manager does not tend to these issues. Not really sure what she does there. I can keep going but you get the picture.

I love this gym and am surprised to Complaints about the monthly fee. All gyms have a membership cost 🙄 and this one has two floors of equipment, lots of classes and phenominal instructors. I’ve been coming here for about two years and it’s great. I recommend it to anyone in the area, especially the classes- Kristen, Elizabeth and Theresa (although I think she’s just a sub for Monday classes) are really great and conduct awesome classes. 💪🏼

Staying on because it is close to the house. Some equipment breaking and not promptly repaired. I mainly life weights and those are hard to break so it’ll do for now. Don’t know about classes or instructors and don’t care to. Can’t recommend tho as it has clearly changed for the worse since new management.

I’ve been a member at this gym since it was fitclub. It was a nice clean gym not over crowded and machines were always clean and operational. The gym has begun to go down hill since about 2 months before the change to nysc. Machines are broken. They don’t fix promptly. Their most popular machines the stair masters are constantly broken and there’s only 4 so there’s always a wait for them. The staff is good and that’s why I’m giving it an extra star. But if things don’t change soon I will be leaving and looking for a different gym in the area that offers better hours and working machines.

Haven’t seen much of a difference since the club changed hands with the exceptions of no music since February and no AC recently, hopefully both of those will be getting fixed ASAP... the gym is very clean and spacious... when people complain I ask them if they have been to any of the other local gyms... a month at one of those places might change their perspective. I will say that if my rate goes up I won’t be able to continue but other than that, I am very happy with my choice to switch over.

It doesnt get worst than this! Was a fit club member and they told me there wouldnt be any additional charge when they switched to NYSC. Well they lied! They also lied to me telling me we had a contract, wrong again. Tried charging my card extra per month without my consent, well I filed CLAIMS through my CC company and got the money back. Went from Independent Fit Club to disgusting NYSC. Was enjoying Fit Club and when they transferred to sports club they told me the monthly rates wouldn’t be affected. They lied! NYSC starting charging me more a month without any notification! No email or letter of notification. When I talked to their horrible manager they said I was misinformed and the monthly bill went up. No one told me of this price change and wouldn’t adjust the price. Plus the vibe changed there as well. Smelly gym, not clean and over packed. What 360 flip around! Avoid this gym at all costs!!!
