I've been a member of Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) for three years, primarily attending 3G and strength classes. I've also explored other boutique gyms, a pilates studio, and corporate gyms in the area, so my review will highlight what makes OTF stand out for me.
**The App:** The app is easy to use and syncs with Google and Outlook, making it convenient to view the classes you've signed up for. You can see all your progress in the app.
**The Studio:** There are plenty of lockers and a coat room available. The studio features two restrooms and three showers, which are usually free for a quick shower after workouts. Although I haven't used the showers, the studio and restrooms are consistently clean. After workouts, coaches distribute sanitizing wipes for everyone to clean the dumbbells and equipment we used.
**The Workouts:** The workouts are well designed to accommodate different fitness levels. There are rowers, treadmills, and floor equipment such as bosu balls, TRX bands, dumbbells, benches, and medicine balls. I appreciate how each strength portion of the class targets specific muscles, making it easier for beginners to follow along. There are also different challenges throughout the month as well as benchmark workouts which helps to see your progress.
**Community:** One downside is that people donβt engage with each other much. I've observed a friendlier atmosphere in other places, even during trial classes, where people were more welcoming and helpful.
**Staff:** The staff are generally helpful. Thereβs always a front desk attendant who checks you in and records your name for the stations. I mention this because I didnβt encounter a greeter in three other places I tried, which made it challenging for new members to figure out who the coach was or where to go for workouts.
**Coaches:** The coaches are always willing to help, despite leading multiple sets of people and timing the workouts. They make an effort to recognize individuals by name and correct any improper form. The coach also selects the workout music, which is important; in one of the other gyms I tried, they played hard rock music at 6 AM, which I didnβt enjoy at all.
**Equipment:** The studio offers limited equipment, just the items I mentioned above. If you prefer using machines beyond body weight or dumbbells, this gym may not be suitable for you.
**Inside the Studio:** There are 12 stations in each section: floor, treadmill, and rower, and everyone picks their own station. This setup is different from what Iβve experienced in other gyms and allows me to work out in my personal space comfortably. There are 3 large screens that you can see your progress and heart rate during the workout if you have their tracker which is an extra cost but you can also rent for the class. And another thing that I like is the two screen in the floor area that shows the current workout set. Coach always demonstrates first but I always forget it the next second. In the other places that I've tried, all, of them, use white boards or electronic boards to write the exercise set. But it's very helpful to see the demo screen continuously running.
**Price:** Membership levels vary but are in the same price range as other facilities I've tried.
Overall, I would recommend OTF as a boutique gym if you want to work out for an hour without any guesswork.

I own Point of Balance Grooming Studio a menβs salon and spa located down the street and my client Aaron recommended Orange Theory. Like him I want to prepare for a vacation Iβm going on in August and just want to look and feel my best and build some muscle.
So I signed up last week for the free class and loved it! Seth is such a great coach and a very friendly guy.
Today I signed up for the unlimited membership and did my second class which was a 50/50 class with Seth and obviously loved it. Orange theory is really helping me to stay motivated and push me harder. Looking forward to my 3rd class tomorrow.

The coaches are great, the atmosphere is motivating and the workouts check all the boxes. I actually look forward going to the gym because of the coaches at OTF Syracuse.

OTF workouts are thee most efficient use of time to achieve every participant's endurance, strength, and power goals regardless of age. I enjoy throwing my all into OTF's well-researched, heart-rate monitored, fast-paced, well-coached workouts 3-4 times/week. The OTF workouts maximize results in the least amount of time week in week out. The workout music and working out with other participants in every session is highly motivating and fun as well.

The workouts at Orange Theory are challenging but doable. There's also room for growth and to continue pushing yourself in these workouts as well. I love the variety of exercises/workouts and I love the simultaneous feeling of competition (within yourself) and team dynamics. Beyond the workouts, the coaches, staff, and fellow teammates are always so supportive/encouraging. Being new to the Syracuse area, this has been a wonderful way to meet my fitness goals while also building a strong sense of community. I'd recommend this gym and Orange Theory in general to anybody.

Stats, data and Visual learners - heart rate monitor from OTF syncs to monitor to show you the calories you burned on tv monitor, lights up your screen by color based on what zone you are in- all in real time and a great way to breakdown your workout.

I love everything about OTF-I like that the workouts are challenging but doable and different every day. I would never work as hard on my own. As a physical therapist with a degree in Exercise Science and a PhD in Kinesiology, I am VERY picky about where I work out. The science behind OTF is sound and current. This is super important for all of us. I love all the coaches. Each one has a unique way of making me want to push myself just a little more without yelling or harassing. Also super important! :). I also appreciate that I can use modifications when I need to (e.g. when my knees are sore) and still get a great workout, hitting all my splat points. It's the best hour of my day! Thank you!!!!!

Orangetheory Fitness has sincerely changed my life. After years of going to a gym, not really knowing how to put a good workout together and not pushing myself hard enough, I was looking for something different. Something better. Then I discovered OTF, quite by accident. As soon as I opened the door the front desk staff were welcoming and enthusiastic. I stopped in to peek, then for a free workout, then an elite membership leading very quickly to a premier membership! I couldnβt get Orangetheory off my mind. I love the intensity of the workouts, while at the same time they are doable exercises. Orangetheory coaches are wonderfully supportive and encouraging. The strength and endurance I have developed are thanks to the way they push me harder than I would ever push myself. Their words and enthusiasm keep me going and keep my mind off the clock. Planning a workout saps my mental energy, and then I don't end up going. With OT, I love that all I have to do is show up. Everyone on the staff is amazing and supportive. This is the best, most efficient and hardest fitness program I've ever been part of and I was in the Navy for 20 years. There is a huge difference between OTF and the others. You never know what the dayβs workout will be and that element of surprise is one of the things that makes it so effective. As an older adult I wanted to get in better shape to keep up with the younger guys in my fire department. I tried a machines-only discount gym and stayed there for years, then graduated to another place doing indoor cycle and TRX multiple times a week...but OTF finally broke the plateau and took me where I wanted to go. Every day is something different and another challenge to meet. If I can do this 3-4 times a week so can anybody. And a big shoutout to the coaches and staff here at Syracuse DeWitt as they are the most motivating and supportive professionals anywhere.

By far the best fitness facility I have ever attended. I sold the owner Heather a new vehicle at Burdick VW and we got to talking about fitness. I expressed my interest in getting back into shape and she was gracious enough to set me up with a free class. They were able to fit me in two days later! It was the first time I worked out in almost 5 years and Molly was very helpful in finding the right workout for me. My trainer, Kristen was very enthusiastic and motivating and help me sweat through to the end! I will definitely be joining this gym and I highly recommend everyone else to do so.
