Went rock climbing here for the first time last month and it was a great experience. We had the whole rock climbing area to ourselves and the staff member was really kind. We kept going for however long we wanted to and were able to switch to different walls and versions of the walls. It was a great workout, experience, and price for the whole day. We will definitely come back again in the future.

To get to the point, this gym meets MY NEEDS. They have bikes, eclipticals and treadmills and enough to meet the needs of the patrons from what I see. They also have a weight room with free weights and kettlebells. I enjoy doing my own thing when I workout and don't require a trainer or a class, but I'm sure they offer them. The facility is clean and well maintained and in my opinion is the best gym I joined in all my years.

I canceled my membership in April ,2020. This business was still changing my account. Absolutely no excuse for charging a customer for a service that was not available due to Covid restrictions. After contacting the management in April of 2020 my account was still charged. I haven't been to this establishment since pre Covid. I would not recommend using their facilities. Unprofessional business practices.

Edit: I feel as if I need to come and edit my review. It seems that after my review things had started to go down hill. Unlike many of the other people, I feel the classes are suffering. When I would go with my SO to Kat's classes, it was disgusting to see that the roof tiles were all water stained and that the lighting was bad. When this gym opened (I was one of the "founding" members) that rooms was one of the nicest rooms. They took away the octagon and boxing, then relegated it to a single room up front. In addition, they let Cross-Fit take over the track/indoor field area which was one of my favorite places to train. I don't know what is happening but it seems like a slow decline, mixed in with increasingly false advertising (How do you advertise that you have 90,000sqft of space when you are openly leasing out 40,000 of it at a minimum? If you like Kat and the classes, I would stay at that level and enjoy their classes but I would say the higher tiers are now not worth it.
Old Review 2018:
Friendly staff, low key members and many different classes offered. Honestly one of the best gyms I have gone to and truly an all in one place for health and wellness.

Update: Reopened and processed a dues-free HOLD on my account until/if I ever go back to the gym. Original comment: COVID-19 Money Grab: Charged for April, May and June even though they were closed for half of March and remain closed due to NY State mandate. Paying gym dues should be OPTIONAL at the customer's discretion. Rent-a-Center type business practices and charging for services not provided is ILLEGAL.

I have been a member of PHC for years and have the top level membership that gives me access to all of the equipment, the pool and classes. For all I get with my membership, I do think the price is worth it. I love all the options that PHC has to offer. Depending on my mood/energy level there is a wide variety of activities to meet my needs. The classes are outstanding and led by amazing instructors. The Zumba classes with Tess, Sue, and Kat are my favorites! I appreciate the quality and cleanliness of the locker rooms and shower facilities, a must because I often need to workout before work. My kids always have a great time at the child care center. Liz and Val do a great job keeping them safe and entertained. The kids birthday party packages are a great value too! Overall, yes PHC is more expensive than many other gyms but I feel I get more with my PHC membership than I did at lower priced gyms. I am willing to pay more to have the flexibility and variety in workout options and quality amenities that PHC offers. Bottom line, PHC makes it more convenient for me to workout, so I workout more often which in and of itself makes it worth it.

I've been a member since 2016 and I've seen the changes happening over time (not for the good). Walking in today to drop my child off and seeing they permentely closed one of the playrooms without notice is the last straw (it is to allow a tenant to expand their business). I come here for the kids corner but if it's going to look more like Aspen's, I might as well go there! Now their play equipment is crammed into one room, creating blindspots and takes away the play area that is meant for smaller children. I'm paying for a membership that is losing it's value everytime I turn around. From poor maintenance to permanently closed areas (hot tub's included) I just don't see sticking around just to see this place continue going downhill.

I really enjoy this gym and feel like it is worth the money but buyers beware. Its a very expensive gym and they get you by having some insane cancellation policies, for instance, you can freeze your account at any time but still get charged $5, instead the $50 each month. But it will extend out your contract. Is that really a freeze? Also if you aren't moving or don't have a medical excuse your still locked into the fee for the year. They will have you sign the contract and not tell you any of that. Also, if you go in and fill out a cancellation form but they loose it they will continue to bill you, send you invoices etc.. So please be sure your 100% committed before joining!

Lots of different things to do. A very diversified gym. Left a few years ago to save money with a different gym but ended up joining again two years later. Gym, pool, hot tub, sauna, cross fit, weight room, and plenty of machines do not waiting for other people to be done.

I joined this club in 2016 at the suggestion of a friend and I can honestly say that I've loved every minute of it! This is the longest I've been a member at any gym in the area. Everyone you encounter (front desk, management, instructors/trainers, maintenance/custodial crew, other members) are always pleasant and make you feel like they're really glad you're there. If you enjoy group activities, the classes are awesome! If you prefer to workout alone, there is a large, wide variety of equipment. I've made some great new friends here and I've changed my lifestyle and improved my health....because of PHC! You won't be sorry!

VERY rude management. Brought our children to go swimming and was told because our daughter was under two, we couldnβt even go in to take our older children swimming. Claimed it was company policy, even though we have brought her there in the past. Marianne was extremely rude and inconsiderate. Itβs one thing for something to be company policy but itβs another thing for someone to watch my children cry, shrug her shoulders, smile, and say βCanβt break company policy.β I will never walk in those doors again based on your poor choice for a manager.

Cathy! Literally the rudest customer service experience of my life. Tried to complain but she said she's the manager. Doubtful. Wouldn't give me rates over the phone as others indicated. Then treated me as if I was a bother to ask questions and get a tour before deciding on this very high priced gym. She was so rude and condecending it blows me away. Not only is this place overpriced, but the heavy weight room is extremely old and dirty. Despite this I was considering because of location. Cathy was the nail in the coffin. Rudest most unpleasant customer service ever. Can't imagine having to get out of a contract dealing with that lady for "service".

Floor in uneven in the heavy weight room, pretty dirty, no one returns weights. Also, if you want to bring a guest they will charge you $10 to have that guest with you. In my opinion thatβs absurd considering the extremely high membership price.
So, when I went to cancel my highly over priced membership I was told itβll take 30 days. This means they get to take another $60 from me even though I will not be returning. WORST GYM in the Syracuse area, SAVE YOUR $.
I wish I could say better things because the people are awesome, itβs just such a bad value. If they let you pick the things you wanted included in your membership it would be better.
For example: I donβt have any kids, let me opt out of the daycare that you force me to pay for because If you want access to anything except the front room you have to have a level 2 membership.
Poor management, poor upkeep, friendly staff, highly overpriced.

Ok so I go here for aqua therapy, but the staff at Pacific Health Club is awesome. The maintenance man John is so diligent. I usually hate to use the locker rooms and other facilities because I am a germaphobe but this is the most cleanest place I have ever been to. They stay on top of everything and make you feel special and human. Love love Pacific Health Club

Any business that will not tell you their rates over the phone (I was interested in the pool only, I need to swim for my health) is not to be trusted. Others have commented it on it here. It's seems like most gyms, they engage in shady coersion practices. When are gym goers going to demand better fair business practices from this industry? Do we need a law? This is where regulations come from, businesses that will not behave ethically. In refusing to answer my question over the phone they lost a customer.

My girlfriend and I have been a member at Pacific for a couple years and used to love it. She loves the classes and used to enjoy the pool area. I used to enjoy the weight room and the pool area as well. Seems like the last 6 months to a year everything has gone down hill besides the classes. The lap pool has been closed for maybe 8 or 9 months and it doesn't seem like they have any intention of reopening it as they've built a wall around it. So this limits us to a 30' long 4' deep pool that is used pretty constantly on the weekends for kids parties. So even though we are paying for use of the pool areas we can't use one of them and the other one we either feel like we are intruding on some kids birthday party or can't handle the 20+ kids screaming. On top of that the pool facilities as a whole have started to go down hill, it seems quite frequently a pool or hot tub is closed or taped off. The weight room which is another part of the higher level membership was a feature I always enjoyed but a lot of the equipment needs repaired, replaced, or updated. I happen to go in the morning before work so I utilize the showers. It seems the cleanliness of those areas has gone done hill as well, often smelling badly and not my favorite place to start my day.

Lol Itβs literally pathetic that we PAY for a membership and then when we need new gym equipment WE have to pay for that too! It makes no sense why weβre paying for a membership and also donating our own money to buy bands and other things that THIS GYM should be providing! Pacific Health Club should be valuing their athletes and members who PAY to keep this gym up and running. Because with out their members theyβre nothing.
Salt city fitness has been over 4yrs since weβve been moved here... and weβve only been given new equipment once. After all the other coaches left with a bunch of the members. They canβt provide us with a bike but they have the Finances to make a commercial! πππ€¦πΌββοΈ

During my brief tour on a weekday afternoon, I was impressed with the amenities and spacious environment. The advanced weight room could have been more updated and new though. This gym offers 84 different classes for people of all ages and goals to achieve their milestones. They implement a tiered membership structure that allows you to pay for more intense types of workouts. Level 1 allows you basic equipment and cardio machines, 2 gives you access to Olympic lifting platforms and a separate area with more free weights, and 3 grants you crossfit classes and a rock wall. I made the decision to sign up as soon as I move to the area.
If this review was helpful, please consider a thumbs up. If would be greatly-appreciated!

I love this gym. There are three levels of membership available and the level 2 ($50/month) includes daycare and access to the pool. My kids love to come here. I drop them off at the daycare, get my swole on and then take them to the heated indoor pool. It's salt instead of chlorine so it feels aesomea on your skin. There are many classes available I have yet to try. The gym is always clean and the staff welcoming.

I have been a member at Pacific Health Club since they opened 5+ years ago and I can honestly say it's the best gym experience I've ever had. Not only do they have all the equipment I could ever want, but there is a ton of space, so it never feels crowded. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the facilities are kept very clean as well. No better all-around gym in Syracuse as far as I'm concerned.

Great Atmopsphere and a really fun place to workout have been coming here for a couple years now. The only down sides are that they refuse to setup a rope in the CrossFit section of the gym yet there is a giant rock climbing wall. But other wise a great place to workout with great people

The place has friendly staff, a wide variety of activities available (cardio machines, weight machines, heavy weight room, crossfit, a small track, a non-lap pool, rock climbing) and the equipment has been high quality and there's plenty of it. I'll say that it is fairly expensive, and a cheaper membership doesn't cover all of these amenities. Mine is $50 and includes the basic stuff, the heavy weight room, I think the track and MMA stuff, but for crossfit you need the $99 one I believe. However, if that's not out of your price range, it's excellent.

I may be impartial to this gym since I'm employed here, however, I absolutely love the classes & think everyone should try them out. I'm a regular at the following... Sara's MMA Fit class hands down the best. You leave her evening class feeling your best, she pushes you to your breaking point & then somehow gets a little more out of you! Sam's Tuesday early morning Yoga class is the best yoga I've taken, her flow is the wonderful & I cannot say enough good things about her. Friday early, early morning Spin with Tiff is the best way to start you weekend, be prepared to sweat!!! Her energy & music selection really brings out the best in you, I try to never miss this class no matter what! You can also find me in the heavyweight room from time to time, the members are fantastic and always willing to offer tips and encouraging words to other members & myself. If you haven't tried out this gym I encourage you to come in and try it out for a day. They have a wide variety of membership options as well as simple one day $10 drop in passes!

With Group Fitness classes EVERY DAY, Heavy Weights, not only in the heavy weight room, but also on the Turf (that's right, there's a TURF area too!), Crosstraining, and more it's a no brainer. PLUS, as a member I can have my child watched for up to 2 hours at NO CHARGE while I workout! Definitely check it out!

Go here to climb at the Ledge. Not the best climbing gym in the area, but gets the job done. Routes are changed relatively regularly and well set for the most part. Routes could use tape on every hold as it's sometimes easy to mistake holds for those of us with color difficulties. Prices are pretty good as well.

This is the mecha gym for meat, powerlifters, and bodybuilders. I can't think of a better gym with more options: two weights, cardio machines, classes, lap pool, rock climbing, spa, sauna in each bathroom, nice big locker rooms. Food options are basic vending machines. I heard rumors that may change.

I've been to gyms from Alaska, to California, Colorado, Kansas, Florida, BVI, Mexico, New York, Chicago, and several other places. This gym is the most unique and well planned that I have been to. Combination of cross fit, spa, old school bodybuilding, cardio studio, and sports field, all in one building. Solid gym. Typically slow after 6 or so each evening that I have been. Always able to get a workout in without waiting on equipment.

Pros:
1. Tons of equipment to choose from. Everything is offered here.
2. Staff is usually friendly.
Cons:
1. Hours are limited. This is what pushes my rating down more than any other factor. The "other" gyms in the area are either open until midnight or they're 24 hours. For the amount you pay here, the facilities should be available around the clock, or at least 4 AM - midnight M-F, and 5 AM - 10 PM Saturday and Sunday.
2. Maintenance has become an issue. One example would be the door to the sauna in the men's locker room. It has been warped and hasn't been able to remain securely shut for well over a year now. Seems like an inexpensive fix but it hasn't been addressed.
3. Too expensive. The low rates they advertise are for "Level I" access, which basically gets you access to cardio equipment and some weight machines. If you want to use heavy weights, you need a Level II membership, which is $35+ per month. Planet Fitness and Aspen will charge you $20. So you pay a premium to attend a gym that has limited hours compared to the competition.
4. Cleanliness. The showers in the men's locker room smell like burnt hair, and the pool and hot tub were recently shut down because it was determined that several guests were exposed to legionella bacteria.

I have been climbing for a number of years and have been to many different rock climbing gyms, and this one holds up. There is more climbing than you would expect from the pictures posted on their website (if you are looking for more check out facebook).
If you are looking for good top roping keep in mind that they only have auto-belays, which can sometimes be annoying. However, these can be great if you are bringing new climbers and don't really feel like belaying or having them take a belay test.
The bouldering was good with a variety of walls, decent setting, a good range of difficulty (they do have climbs up to V8), and really good pad coverage. The atmosphere was friendly and the staff was relaxed.
The pricing for a day pass when I went was:
$12 for students
$14 for non-students
$2 for shoe and harness rental
I would highly recommend this gym if you are trying to get into climbing or just want a break from your home climbing gym.

Couldn't be worse customer service if they tried. I've posted on a couple other review sites about my first experience at Pacific Health club. I was interested in signing up mostly for the rock climbing facility. When I called to discuss membership costs I was told I would need an appointment. After scheduling the appointment and arriving 5 minutes early I was told to fill out paperwork and have a seat.
In the end I left after waiting for 45 minutes without so much as an apology or explanation of the long wait. This is after two walk in clients were taken ahead of. This happened over 2 months ago and I still have not received a phone call or any contacts regarding my experience.
I've never found it more difficult to give a company my money. If this is how they treat people who haven't signed a contract I can only imagine it gets worse once you are locked into a contract with them.
